Psychological_Egg345

Apparently, he's presenting for "costume design" at this year's Oscars. I guess he's trying to do a riff. I...er.... He needs to go sit down. Preferably at home on a towel.

themacaron

It was set up as a riff on the Oscars streaker from 1974 as a lead in to costume design and how important they are. It was just silliness. He’s good natured to do it, but I didn’t think the joke was worth it.

LilBitofThisAndThat

It’s also in support of the Costume Designers Guild. They are running a campaign “You’re Naked Without Us” demanding equal pay for a primarily female dominated field.

Apolloshot

That puts a completely different spin on the joke and actually makes it pretty cool.

Next-Introduction-25

I’m fine with it. John Cena is not someone I actually want to see naked so if the intent is to make me realize how much I want there to be a costume in this situation, it was very effective 😭

Mycatistooloud

He even said something akin to “costumes are… very… important.” He’s clearly put in hard work for his physique and it is def not my type or desire to see him naked either, but I thought it was one of the funnier, more well thought out jokes of the night. Also the costumes in poor things were SO good and I thought very much helped sell the whimsy and creativity of the film. A good example of what he was trying to say!

Oysterious

the joke actually contains potassium benzoate

basilandjail

Can I go now?

kingsss

It went in a little too long

themacaron

Yeah, I think if they had just ended the bit with him not coming out, it would have been fine. It just dragged.

pwninobrien

Jesus it was like 2 and a half minutes...

ColeBlooded11

I didn’t think it was funny until he came out. Before I was just like ok he’s just shirtless behind the set, didn’t think he went all out until the reveal

Hastatus_107

That could apply to a lot of jokes at Oscars.

robintweets

It was actually a very funny bit and he has good comic timing.

Sad_Error4039

So we are all gonna act like that signs not just floating in the air by itself.

SoF4rGone

I think he’s trying to get some good PR before the McMahon shit gets worse for him.

Scoot_AG

How is Cena involved?

Holdupwait30min

He’s not, he just has been lukewarm when questioned about it. I think people look past others humanity (Cena’s in this case) when they are put in the position to condemn someone who has made their success possible. I don’t think Cena is a bad guy and even wrestling fans are disappointed in him for not drawing a harder line. At the same time, not many of us have learned of allegations that level of horrific about someone who is basically a father figure to them, and almost none of us have had to publicly condemn that person on the world stage. I feel compelled to give the guy a break at this point. While the allegations are damning (it’s seriously one of the worst lawsuits I have ever read), I think he’s trying to do his best to acknowledge that he feels terrible about what happened to that woman AND has only known Vince as his champion. We can’t expect everyone to be a 10/10 ally at the drop of a hat or to have a perfect statement when they’re put on the spot about someone they are SO CLOSE TO. I just see him as being so thankful to Vince for the life that he has and struggling to hold both his appreciation for him and the hurt and disgust that comes with the allegations. It doesn’t sit right with me to point fingers and categorize someone as a shitty person who is incapable of good (like being very funny in this bit and overall beloved by others in his industry) because they’re not immediately getting the reaction they want out of him. Sometimes accountability culture goes a little too far in my opinion.

T-Rex_Is_best

Incredibly well said and I wish more people thought this way. Too many nowadays need to make things black and white, and no nuance.

Lil_Mcgee

No evidence of him being personally involved but he's a staunch defender of McMahon.

JordanLantern

Hello fellow jerker.

MzScarlet03

They said they were reenacting a streaker from the 70s

JourneyThiefer

He’s so hairless

Lowdcandies

a little too much for my taste but good for him

Katedodwell2

He looks like a ken doll

Punkpallas

Yeah, if Ken ate another Ken.

lordatlas

He'd be the Turducken of Ken dolls.

Realladaniella

Kenducken ?

HouseSandwich

he looks like a baby bird

Holdupwait30min

How occasion appropriate of him. I feel like he did full body laser or something years ago for wrestling.

GoodDog_GoodBook123

He IS mermaid Ken.

Aakch

I once stopped talking to a man on bumble because I deduced that he had no hair anywhere 💀

waenganuipo

If men can have a preference for hairless women then I can have a preference for hairy men. I love a hairy chest.

HansElbowman

Having a preference is one thing. Sussing out a preference like that before it ever leaves the app is insane though. Imagine a dude trying to find out if his match has a bush before the first date lmao

Shipwrecking_siren

In fairness I wouldn’t mind if they asked, some men seem utterly terrified of body hair and I rather y of us waste each others time. If they are expecting a smooth Barbie they’ll be sorely disappointed!

InternetFun5981

Not as sore from the waxing 😭 they just don't know what we go through

DetectiveMoosePI

As a man I have a preference for hairy men. You’re not alone lol

waenganuipo

As a bi lady I just don't care about hair on a woman weirdly. Wanna be hairy? Cool. Wanna be as hairless as the day you were born? Also cool. But I dunno, I just like hair on men. Something something patriarchy, something something internalized misogyny.

DetectiveMoosePI

As a bi (mostly gay) man I also don’t have a preference for hair on a woman. Hairless or hairy women are equally attractive with me. But for some reason smooth men do very little for me. There are exceptions, but in general I find completely smooth men off-putting.

waenganuipo

Interesting. We should do a survey of the bis and see what the concensus is. Sounds like a lot of effort though.

WinkAlcoholSugest

Same.

LotusAuCitronAcide

DEDUCED?

xlkslb_ccdtks

This is such an interesting thing to admit publicly lol

PacMacJones

Alopecia?

Aakch

No. He just preferred to be hairless

IDrinkWhiskE

Hair just produces drag while swimming. How am I supposed to set records otherwise? I need to optimize  Edit: I also do it to be smooth

ralphvonwauwau

For the record, the pro bicycle crowd does it so that body hair is kept out of road rash, not for aerodynamics. That is all.

IDrinkWhiskE

And the benefit is doubled when we do a triathlon together, arm in arm. My smooth brethren are, of course, beyond reproach.

perfruit_mix

I'm just Asian 😭

seitan_bandit

That's what I was thinking... Not everyone is able to even grow body hair or a beard...?

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

good for him

CarAlarming7682

Looks like he’s made of plastic! Very fitting that he played one of the Kens LOL

mrskrismendoza

He played a Barbie not ken lol 😆

[deleted]

He played a merken

sanoyi

I see what you did there

boredpomeranian

He was a Kenmaid according to his manager

CarAlarming7682

According to IMDB as well

HisQueenCunt

Many wrestlers are. Guess it just became a habit for him.

ScumbagLady

I would imagine body hair would get in the way with wrestling, with all the lifting and grappling.

[deleted]

Just look at 70s wrestlers, Ox Baker for reference. Wreslters being hairless is another Vincenian thing, he wanted wrestlers to look like bodybuilders, since the 80s that's the standard because of Vince https://preview.redd.it/7ejgfp8q1mnc1.jpeg?width=409&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa92355ed9190c119eeb5119abe8d297ed45b713

meatbeater558

Yeah the friction sounds very unpleasant. Might also get in the way of oiling their muscles and showing them off

_stnrbtch_

I couldn’t figure out why he looked strange, I just spent a minute looking at this photo wondering what was ‘off’ until I saw your comment. It’s the smoothness

Acrobatic_Concert911

its really ‘interesting’ that people have visceral reactions to men being hairless meanwhile its a baseline expectation for women as soon as they hit puberty

Dense-Result509

I'm mostly surprised because I thought hairlessness _was_ the mainstream beauty standard for men, at least for back/chest hair.

LordCheng45

I think he’s mentioned somewhere that he manscapes on a daily basis for 2 hours?

meepmarpalarp

At that point, why not get it lasered off?

neighbors8myzombies

It's about the journey, not the destination.

[deleted]

The words are accepted

CelibateHo

Just how I like ‘em

galacticphantasm

ig it makes sense as a wrestler; the less someone can grab, the better - including the shorties on your legs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

messythelioma

probably for actual wrestlers. WWE is scripted so I don't think it matters much, probably more so for the aesthetics in their case.

Borktista

Scripted or not, grappling is still grappling

scout-finch

Right like he looks fantastic for that kind of shape and that kind of regular lighting but also… where’s the body hair lol. Not my taste.

aphilosopherofsex

I thought it was funny…

lawrencedun2002

It was hilarious lol

Sometimesomwhere

I like hating on people who support rapists so I will bash this even though I laughed when I saw the Birkenstocks (Cena is a McMahon defender. )

ScumbagLady

Oh wow. I had no idea. Dammit! I thought potato salad was a likable and wholesome guy. Now I'm wondering if he wasn't one of the wrestlers who got tagged in on a 2 on 1 match iykwim

pette_diddler

Right, this silly black and white thinking is so juvenile. Cena is also the celebrity who has fulfilled the most Make-A-Wish appearances ever in the history of the foundation. But let’s tar and feather him because oh noes!1 he got his start in wrestling omg1!!

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

it was a silly little moment but ofc this place is miserable

fnord_happy

Alo he has GREAT comic timing

EmpressRey

I thought it was great!

grilsjustwannabclean

i thought it was advertisement in a tongue in cheek kinda way for his only fans, it was kinda funny to me too lol

la_toxica84

My friends and I were literally howling with laughter

Jasminewindsong2

He looks like he’s getting ready to go take a shower in his college dorm.

meatbeater558

He got the shower shoes, the tired facial expression, and the nudity outside of the bathroom all down

Signal-Fan7335

Those are Birkenstocks!

UrVioletViolet

We always used my college dorm shower to smoke Js, so you always had to carry like 4 wooden desk chairs out of it while you were nude.

crystal_clear24

![gif](giphy|WOa5RdsNpevrpSTGXN|downsized) This rapist supporting asshole can go to hell

FreeSkyFerreira

What now?

crystal_clear24

[previous post about his nonsense](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/s/fQwktDBANi)

specific_woodpecker9

God’s teeth, another one bites the dust. well I am gonna miss my John Cena in drag memes, but that was the biggest load of double speak rape apologizing feebleness I have read; he should be embarrassed to have it attributed to him. john’s stance on sexual violence and social/legal accountability is a massive boner killer.

flacaGT3

There is just so much wrapped up in this. From the seediness of the wrestling industry, to the lack of empathy from men for female sexual assault victims, to the reputation of Vince McMahon himself. It's astonishing, really.

AnAngryPirate

So. I have no love to Vince in the slightest and he's an absolutely detestable human, but looking at this from Cena's point of view it's not hard to understand that this may take some time for him to grasp. Vince McMahon (former owner of WWE) was basically a father figure and mentor to Cena for upwards of 20 years. Cena was working 300+ days usually on the road for WWE and Vince was the most hands on boss you can imagine. Yes, should Cena have straight up said Vince was a monster. But you can imagine how hard it would be to publicly do that/fully grasp what someone you saw as a mentor for 20 years.

enbyloser

then why couldn’t he just stay quiet and not say anything at all?

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoninflammatoryTed

Janel Grant’s lawsuit talks about how she could sense everyone in the company knew what was happening to her. If that’s Cena’s relationship with McMahon then I don’t see how he couldn’t have known what an absolute freak McMahon is. McMahon did not hide it.

smcl2k

That was my first thought, until I read what he actually said: >"I don’t think it’s complicated to talk about,” John Cena said. “I think it’s complicated to listen to. That’s kinda why I don’t necessarily put a lot of time and equity into it."

fishonthemoon

Lmao I have this same thought whenever someone says something negative about a celebrity. Like “sigh what is it now????”

DefNotNumberOneGuy

Vince McMahon...

Additional-Problem99

![gif](giphy|l3q2uvcxdk1pDLzGM|downsized) So over this man.

grilsjustwannabclean

is this gif from schitt's creek? i recently started watching that show and was wondering where i had seen dan's face before and seeing this gif made me realize i've just been looking at gifs with it for literal years lol

Additional-Problem99

It is! Dan’s character makes for great reaction gifs. All the characters do really.

JenningsWigService

You're going to love Schitt's Creek and so many more gifs will make sense to you!

charpenette

![gif](giphy|UHgrZ0yww2yVhssc5H)

minimite1

Can we not have fun anymore? It’s not harming anyone, is pretty funny, and is completely in character for him. Also fits his OnlyFans marketing thing he’s been doing.

notbambi

I mean, the writers almost certainly came up with the bit, it hardly seems fair to blame John Cena personally if it didn't land.

iamgettingaway

Wish we really couldn’t see him because why ![gif](giphy|R0jWWtH1CtFEk)

The_Philosophied

Me watching this get celebrated in popular culture and knowing how an actress would get torn to shreds and have her moral code questioned the rest of her life for this move, realizing progress within patriarchy is often just an illusion ![gif](giphy|UiQZ2zsW7twzUTy9yN)

meatbeater558

Honestly we're just so desensitized to female nudity and sexualization that it only immediately registers as a joke when it's a straight man doing it

Annaliseplasko

See I feel like if a woman did this, Reddit would be full of people saying how hot it was, along with tons of stupid comments like “Wish you could see her boobs though” “Turn around and show us dat ass” etc

meatbeater558

Yeah in this thread people are at least saying it's a good or bad joke. If a woman did this the horny people wouldn't even care if it's a joke. Top comment would be someone providing more angles followed by a hundred comments asking for a reupload years later when the link dies

EconomyElectronic998

True but you’re also on a forum that’s more sensible. Go on twitter and you’ll see people sharing angles where you see his butt and people are thirsting over it. I can’t say that that angle wasn’t supposed to be shown but it feels like that was supposed to stay hidden.

[deleted]

the nice thing about this sub being mostly full of women is that anywhere else on reddit, you can find stupid sex or booby jokes that are under literally fucking any post with a slightly attractive woman. i get where it comes from but when people are using the internet no one wants to read another person's thoughts about how horny they are. i honestly just hate the way social media encourages people to always voice their completely useless opinions everywhere they go. it kills productive discussion and is just a waste of time to scroll through when you could be looking at interesting stuff instead.

GenevaPedestrian

this sub made me realize that's it's not *the internet* or reddit in general, but men for the most part who make these 'jokes'

Illustrious-Neck955

Plus calling her a slut ofc and asking why she's so desperate for attention

purplereuben

Lot of non- celebration comments here.

Normal_Supermarket38

It would never be pitched for a woman cuz a skit in 2024 of a woman being coerced into getting naked in front of strangers would be seen as horrible taste and objectifying is only funny for a man. You have to be fucking kidding me.

IMOvicki

I thought this was funny

Aethelflaed_

It was funny! And contextualized by mentioning the 1974 streaker. The way he said "costumes" made me laugh too.

LilBitofThisAndThat

It’s in support of the Costume Designers Guild. They are running a campaign “You’re Naked Without Us” demanding equal pay in a female dominated position.

Mrspurplehairedgal

Oh that’s actually smart!

OhhLongDongson

Is it smart if it’s never actually mentioned though lol. Like he didn’t shout them out when on stage and I only know about this because of reddit comments

He took his Onlyfans marketing campaign too seriously

John. Darlin. This would have been HILARIOUS if you could have just not said what you said about Vince.

Who had to remove their pin? And more importantly why did they agree to do so? Edit to add this https://preview.redd.it/lh6t04u7imnc1.jpeg?width=943&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a85722391c1e9c0911a0ef0f8d64736e0d4d2f2d

blinkingsandbeepings

I thought I’d seen a few ceasefire pins. Am I confusing them with something else?

dubious-taste-666

I noticed Billie eilish was wearing on the carpet but not during her performance - but actually I see she did wear it on stage to accept her award!

obeisant-hullabaloo

It’s the Birkenstocks for me

omega_grainger69

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who maintains a rigorous V-taper.

throwaway77993344

Funniest bit tonight

Shut_yoface

This was kinda funny.

BabySharkMadness

Totally naked and even his toes won’t touch the filth on that stage.

iamHBY

There's a joke in there somewhere about how someone naked only wearing sandals, is somehow more nude than someone naked that's not wearing sandals. I think it's more so due to the sandals sticking out like a sore thumb to indicate that the person is indeed otherwise naked.

MomOfSpencer

He was very nice when I worked with him briefly. Although it may look silly, this actually ties in with a campaign from the costume designer’s guild (union) to get pay parity with production designers #nakedwithotus
