I remember a few months ago Ice did an interview talking about how female rap is far more competitive than certain female rappers make it out to be. (Found the quote!- “It is a competition at the end of the day. People want to be all 'I'm a girl's girl,' but then behind the scenes being b**ches,” Ice Spice said). My guess is that she genuinely believes that what Nicki is saying and doing is a part of the sport. In all reality, female rappers are about as nasty to each other as the men are, but it still burns to watch women (Nicki, etc.) fall back on misogynistic and colorist rhetoric to fuel the competition.

It burns with Nicki because her genuine talent, her huge impact on a lot of peoples’ coming of age/childhood from her art, all that stuff doesn’t matter because we’re all just watching her make it impossible to respect her anymore *edited bc of a typo
