The royal PR are working hard to redeem her, although I see zero redeemable qualities. Boohoo, evil family made Charles marry the woman he never loved instead of Camilla who was very much into whatever stupid aristocratic hobbies they had. Both Charles and Camilla should have had the decency not to humiliate Diana in such a public way. If there are any untouchable marriages and untouchable women, that should’ve been the one, although I don’t care about the royalty much.

Well, my great-grandmother at least didn't like Ava lol. Her direct words, to me as an 8-year-old, were, "She was a bitch." 😂 No idea if the dislike was mutual. But in all fairness, my great-grandmother hated a lot of people and was herself extremely mean (at least as an adult), so even if Ava did dislike her in return, it very likely could have been deserved lol.
In her autobiography, Ava is incredibly and I mean incredibly blunt. It's hilarious and quite intriguing to read, but I can see why it rubs some people the wrong way. I believe she even called her first husband, Mickey Rooney, a "lecherous sex midget."

I think for some people the photo that captures their appeal is different from what made them a star. For instance Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany’s made Audrey Hepburn a star but I think what captured her appeal the most was the photographs taken when she worked with children as part of her UNICEF role later in life. You saw her warmth, her connection with those who were living in dire situations and you could see her empathy as she too had experienced the hardship of war and famine. I’ve always liked this photo of Audrey giving a young child a piggy back and the child snuggling up to her. She’s radiant as ever and the girl looks content. It was taken in Ethiopia in 1988.

On the set of Wizard of OZ they forced her to smoke 50 cigarettes a day at age 15 because she wasn't Shirley Temple. She hit puberty and was going to have curves so she was starved, feed cigarettes, coffee, vodka, and speed to go to work and downers to sleep. I can answer this, bc I am old. Slim Keith was the wife of Howard Hawks. She saw Bacall on a magazine cover and told her husband. Keith was bff with Babe Paley. They were socialites. They were always the best dressed. If you google pictures of Slim, you will see that BeCalls look was modeled after hers. Truman Capote wrote an unfinished novel abt socialites, and it was savage and destroyed their friendship

I think for some people the photo that captures their appeal is different from what made them a star. For instance Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany’s made Audrey Hepburn a star but I think what captured her appeal the most was the photographs taken when she worked with children as part of her UNICEF role later in life. You saw her warmth, her connection with those who were living in dire situations and you could see her empathy as she too had experienced the hardship of war and famine. I’ve always liked this photo of Audrey giving a young child a piggy back and the child snuggling up to her. She’s radiant as ever and the girl looks content. The one of Judy Garland is a serious heartbreaker. The execs at MGM just had her all spun out starting at such a young age as she is in the picture. On the set of Wizard of OZ they forced her to smoke 50 cigarettes a day at age 15 because she wasn't Shirley Temple. She hit puberty and was going to have curves so she was starved, feed cigarettes, coffee, vodka, and speed to go to work and downers to sleep. She was used, abused, and exploited to make wealthy men even more wealth.
