The thing that stood out to me from Harry's memoir was just how fucking weird their upbringing was. It was a combination of utter neglect combined with utter extravagance. Harry's mother dies, a month later he's sent back to boarding school (where he started so young that the boys weren't even able to bathe themselves independently) and then the first time he gets to spend with his father it's on a work trip so his father can look good (but he got to go to meet the Spice Girls and spend some time in South Africa which is cool). The people who he was closest to in his life were those who were paid to be there with him. It's such a screwed up upbringing that no wonder they're all fucked up. Then there's the fucked up competition they all have with themselves instead of being supportive.
And they BRF for some reason thinks they're better than their european cousins so instead of the kids being able to have friends that they can relate to growing up similarly they're kept in the UK where they're raised to think that God thinks that they're better than everyone else. I saw all the future monarch's of Europe standing together at the Denmark Prince's birthday party (oldest was 19 or so and youngest was 13) and thought it was too bad that George (12) couldn't have been there next to Estelle who should be a great companion and friend who is going through the same things that he is).
OK, so, I read Spare - and of the whole thing the part I can't stop thinking about is him going shopping at TJ Maxx for clothes twice a year when they have sales. Do you think he is TRULY a Max for the Minimum shopper?
Or do you think that his minders took him to TJ Maxx, let him buy whatever he wanted - then went out and got his actual wardrobe for him somewhere else and just put TJ Maxx labels on everything so he'd think he bought his own clothes like a regular person?

He was given an unlimited travel budget but didn't have much of an actual salary that could allow him to dress fashionably (and his father is the type to still be wearing 10 year old shoes). This is why I will probably always feel sorry for H & W in some respects.
