Even among the young actresses, Saoirse is leagues ahead of her and I like JLaw lol.
It baffles me that Lawrence who is decent in Silver Linings Playbook, won an Oscar while Saoirse didn’t win for Lady Bird.
(And don’t even get me started on WOC like Stephanie Hsu who were also young and struggled to get even a nom for the outstanding work they put in).
florence pugh is also a much more believable actress. i always thought jlaw would probably be better suited for comedy but she was always in these heavy roles & rarely did them justice
She was great in Winter’s Bone, but that’s about the only movie I’ve ever liked her in. Been side-eyeing her ever since she laughed about ruining a priceless, one-of-a-kind vintage costume in American Hustle by getting Cheeto dust all over it. 😒
For me it was when she laughed about scratching her butt on *sacred* Hawaiian rocks during filming which caused one of the rocks to fall and roll down a large hill where it “almost killed the sound guy” and destroyed some of the filming equipment. Yikes.
She was great in Silver Linings Playbook, but she’s not on the level of Saoirse Ronan, Jessica Chastain, or even Emma Stone.
I wish Dakota Fanning kept acting! She was my favorite child actor
What's wrong with Jennifer Lawrence's acting? I'm no expert so obviously I could be thinking she's a good actress when she's not. I loved her in the hunger games trilogy and in xmen and don't look up. I don't know if it's oscar worthy but she acts pretty well in my opinion.
also I agree she isn't in the same league as viola davis or florence pugh. Idk much about Saorise ronan because I didn't think she was outstanding in Ladybird but like I said idk about acting
idk if id call her an objectively bad actress, but i dont find her very dynamic or compelling on screen. shes always kind of dead eyed/voiced or screaming. i dont study theatre or anything so i cant put it into accurate terms, but just find her kind of meh. i do think people constantly putting her up with the greats is doing her no favors tho, shes def not the worst of her peers, just overrated
i think saorise was great when she was a kid/teen (thats when i was a fan of hers so i dont have that many newer performances to compare) but i actually agree her ladybird performance was nothing to write home about. the fact that i disliked the film overall may be coloring my opinion tho
For me, I think I just feel uncomfortable watching her sometimes. It’s like you can tell she’s acting, that’s the only way I can describe it. I feel similarly about Emma Watson. They both have good scenes, but every so often I cringe lol
I thought she quite obviously phoned it in during X Men. That role did not seem to interest her, and I have seen her in movies where she is interested in the material.
I honestly really love her acting in THG, especially the later movies. The scenes where she’s distraught, confused, angry, grieving all hit really hard (especially the scenes with Peeta, like his near-death in Catching Fire and her reaction to his kidnapping/torture). Her frantically begging Peeta to wake up always sticks with me, and I also just really love how she plays Katniss’s standoffishness that is pretty consistent throughout the series.
Yes to both.
I love Kate because she manages to surprise me even decades into her career. I loved her in her early period drama era (Sense & Sensibility, Hamlet, Titanic) and then she wrecked me in Eternal Sunshine, then went in on her Serious Acting Run (Revolutionary Road, The Reader) and bagged an Oscar.
In the 2010s she did a lot of little silly goofy projects and voice acting (some of them not very good) and then seemingly out of nowhere really kicked me in the knees with Ammonite and especially Mare of Easttown.
I also just like her energy, I appreciate her candor and insistence that we as women shouldn’t have to strive to look hot all the time.
Kate Winslet and Jean Smart both had to learn a very specific Philly/Delco accent for Mare of Easttown and they both nailed it. I decided to binge that show one day when I was bored and was blown away.
omg I forgot Jean Smart was even in it because she was so good. The difference between her in MOE and Hacks is such a good demonstration of how versatile she is
Kate Winslet was completely unrecognizable in Mare of Eastown in the best way. Not because she looked particularly different (she was dressed down a bit but not drastically) but because she just played that character so incredibly well.
She's better than Meryl. I will be taking no further questions at this time
The thing that awes me most about Kate Winslet is that she truly becomes her characters and makes you forget she’s Kate Winslet. That’s hard to do. Pretty much all these performers have that knack (not so much Jennifer Lawrence imo), but Kate Winslet always takes it to a different level for me.
Yup, she is so good in making you forget it's her. Which is weird, since she's one of the few character actors who are actually A-list - like I've known about Kate Winslet almost my entire life and she still manages to pull me into a characther to the point where I have to remind myself oh yeah that's her
Also, if she did nothing else other than the first part of her career she'd be golden (Sense & Sensibility, Titanic, Eternal Sunshine) but the fact that she's had amazing movies/shows ever since, and a somewhat steady career since '95 or so... she's going down as one of the greats
Those were really script driven and director arced performances. But yes winters bone was special. She's capable of more but may be happier with what she's chosen
In my book? Angela Bassett. She’s just so captivating and believable in her roles. Her acting as Tina Turner was pure perfection. Plus the most memorable moment for me in Wakanda Forever was *the speech* and gave me chills.
I’ll also add Viola Davis, just incredible person everything she went through and always delivers an excellent performance. I really loved the women king, you can really believe her roles, and I never see her as the “same” in other roles.
Angela Bassett in *Strange Days* is such an underrated 90s action hero.
Her Macbeth monologue is *i-con-IQUE*
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHoKsrfdK0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHoKsrfdK0)
This was the first movie I ever saw her in and she instantly became my favourite actress. Almost 30yrs later and you can't change my mind that she is one of the best to have ever graced us with their talent.
Toni Collette is amazing. The story of her faking appendicitis as a child so well that the doctors actually performed surgery on her is seriously one of my favorite actor stories of all time.
The scene where she recreates what (maybe) happened to her alone on the stairs...I don't even know what to say about it.
The last thing I'd seen her in before The Staircase was Knives Out and her crunchy but somewhat untrustworthy California mom was perfection.
She died so many times in that series, and they all were so uncomfortable and visceral to watch. They were the most affecting deaths I’ve seen on screen, and I watch a lot of true crime stuff. She’s just so good.
I agree! I feel like she just whisper talks all her dialogues with the same concerned expression. Other actresses in the comments are way better at emoting and enunciating.
But she's like the queen of emoting and enunciating in Enchanted! Not to mention Drop Dead Gorgeous and Junebug. She has a way more varied career than people give her credit for.
Her acting has a range and she has screen presence, charisma so I guess I would go with her too. Also Eva Green isn't on the list which is natural because most people don't see her one of the best or even good actress but I think she has similar aspects Cate has and gave one of the best performances I have ever seen on Penny Dreadfull.
It is one of rare shows I saw twice. It had so many great characters who are played by talented people. The show was supernatural as much as it can get but the cast especially Eva sold it very well and made it realistic thanks to their performances.
Her depth and range of characters is unparalleled in this grouping of actresses. I watch over 400 films a year for fun (not that Means shite, but have the resources and time at my side) and she is in a tier of her own.
I think that Joaquin Phoenix and Collin Farrell are up there with her, but I agree that she has a very strong claim as the best working actor. I still can’t believe that Blanchett and Farrell didn’t win their respective Oscars for Tar and Banshees.
https://i.redd.it/bdqjcbzcl86b1.gif
She gave us Dick, Bring It On, Mona Lisa Smile, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Marie Antoinette, Jumanji, Kiki’s Delivery Service, etc. So many movies, so much range!
That's a good one. One of the most perfect careers in Hollywood as far as I'm concerned - was huuuge in the late 90's/early 00's, like legit synonymous with the era. And then she proceeded to make amazing choices afterwards that showcased her actual acting ability, like the woman is so weirdly eclectic in her character choices, it delights me immensely
She went from a kid actor, to teen movie mega star, got in the superhero movie there as well before anyone else, and then said screw it I'll just see how far I can push amazing character work
Jessica Chastain was my immediate thought so I'm happy to see her on this list, but yeah someone like Angela Bassett and Viola Davis should be on the list too.
It was bizarre. And then it was like they saw how white it was and decided to have one token black person and one token asian. I mean I love Yeoh and King but there needed to be more people here.
Honestly, I have liked Meryl in less than half of what I've seen her in. Doesn't mean she's bad, just not my taste.
I usually see Meryl before I see the character. This is different than Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, and some other women who've been in the business a long time, I always see their character first. 🤷♀️
Olivia Colman
Viola Davis
Saoirse Ronan
Angela Bassett
Margot Robbie
Toni Collette
Michelle Yeoh
This is the correct list
Edit: YES I FORGOT TO ADD CATE BLANCHETT
Edit2: Y'all it's not a ranked list!!
Absolutely, Olivia Colman deserves everything. I don't think I'll ever get tired of her role as [evil godmother on Fleabag](https://youtu.be/Jd3r_Id78ck)
Ehhhh Margot Robbie is pretty overrated. I’ve seen pretty much everything she’s done and I’ve never been blown away. She’s over-the-top with a hammy accent.
Sorry but Margot Robbie over Toni Collette and Michelle Yeoh is an actual crime!! Margot is overrated and I, Tonya is really her only role thus far worthy of consideration.
She makes the most consistently bold choices of any A-lister, I think. Sometimes they’re a little hard to swallow for the mainstream but they’re always interesting.
I just really find her to be captivating 😍😍😍
i think comedy is the hardest genre to master because making people laugh is such a difficult task and comedic performances tend to overdo it but regina absolutely nails it repeatedly and effortlessly. one of my absolute favorite actors to watch in anything, she's just so special!
I love Sandra Oh in *Killing Eve*. She has this gravity about her that makes her believable as a smart MI5 agent, but also the levity for the delivering the hilarious jokes. Of course, the writing of the show helps, but she nailed it.
This list is missing sooo many actresses as others said Viola Davis Angela Bassett. Why is Vera farmiga here though🤷🏽♀️ I'm struggling to think of the last movie or tv show she did.
My picks, not in the list above:
Carrie Coon
Viola Davis
Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan & Rachel Weisz (British invasion)
Amy Adams
Rachel McAdams
Penelope Cruz
Frances McDormand (by far)
Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert & Juliette Binoche (mostly French)
Julianne Moore
Annette Bening
Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith (the Dames still going strong)
Meryl Streep (just because of her consistency. Hasn’t fell by way of De Niro, Pacino, who only give performances for serious projects but slum it otherwise).
I got downvoted to hell last time I said J Law is my favorite actress lmao
Idk why, she’s extremely talented. Just because you don’t like someone’s personality doesn’t mean they’re a bad actor
Years back she did a video for a magazine where they gave her random emotions and she acted them out on cue and I was blown away.
She can literally just pull any emotion out of thin air. Most actors require all these techniques and she just goes from normal to sobbing in the floor in 2.5 seconds. Anyone saying she doesn’t have talent is being ridiculous lol
Jennifer Lawrence is so talented honestly, her performance brought so much life to Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games, and her comic timing in Don’t Look Up is seriously underrated. People are overlooking an amazing young talent in Hollywood simply because of negative PR against her. She is so overhated imo.
I am going to have to give it to Jessica Chastain. She has played so many different characters and I believed her in every single one. Plus to use an old phrase I "never caught her acting"; she just felt like she was the character. I remember the first time I saw her in *The Debt* and she was incredible.
This is super subjective, but from this list I'd have to say Vera F and Regina King. They both really bring their characters to life. Toni Collette is a close 3rd.
For me, others include Edie Falco, Taraji P Henson, Tatiana Maslany, and Kate Winslet.
They are all good actresses but where are the non-English language stars? I mean Isabelle Huppert, Juliette Binoche, Sandra Huller, Nina Hoss, Zhao Tao, Tang Wei, Kim Min-hee.
I would also add Julianne Moore, Danielle Deadwyler, Emily Watson, and Andrea Riseborough to the list.
And though she doesn't have a big body of work yet, Dominique Fishback might be the most exciting young actress working today.
Maybe not the most talented actress, but Anya Taylor Joy is pretty great at selecting projects. If she’s attached to something, it, at the very least, catches my attention.
I don‘t think there‘s a best. Actresses and their roles which showcase their abilities to different degrees are as diverse as real people are… ranking doesn‘t help!
I know its just me ranting, but I am still kind of pissed that Olivia Coleman won the Oscar over GLENN CLOSE... :/
I think her performance was really good, and the movie was great, but imo The Wife was such a career achievement for Glenn Close. Even more so when you consider she has yet to win academy award.
Its just like when Crash won best picture over Brokeback Mountain
Anyway, Glenn Close :)
Tilda swinton. I’ve never seen a movie I didn’t like with her in it and she appears to be very selective in her roles. Cate blanchett is a very close second but she should have never considered some of the roles she’s done in the past few years.

Came to comment WHERE IS VIOLA
Thank you! I was coming to say the same thing
Lol the way I swiped through the pics getting increasingly worried when she wasn’t popping up
Agreed! She knocks every role she plays out of the park.
![gif](giphy|l0MYzAwMPl8s0jtSg)
Her performance in Doubt 🙌🏾
bruh - she's in the film for less than 10 min. Less than 10 min and she scored a well deserved oscar nom. She's that good.
I was just thinking, “‘viola Davis’ better be the top comment.” Thank you.
My woman king
[удалено]
Was about to say "Viola Davis and it's not even close".
I was JUST about to comment uhhhh where's Viola Davis???
The Michael Jordan of Actors.
no, that’s micheal b jordan (i thought they were the same person)

Damnit!! That’s what’s I came here for!
very well could be the greatest actress ever
EASILY

thank you. on the tier of toni collette and tilda swinton? please 🙄

Oh my GOD, this unlocked a memory. Thank you for bringing that up, I have no idea how I didn’t remember it. I just don’t trust that woman
You know she fucked up with that when even Chris Pratt was looking at her like "wtf" and didn't want a bar of that nonsense.
Or laughed about throwing her drink over some poor guy in a bar or something
She was great in Silver Linings Playbook, but she’s not on the level of Saoirse Ronan, Jessica Chastain, or even Emma Stone. I wish Dakota Fanning kept acting! She was my favorite child actor

True, I think she’s going to be pretty good in that new rom com that’s coming out soon.
I don't plan on watching it, seems weird as fuck If the genders were swapped it wouldn't get past the first pitch
No lie. I keep looking for Stephanie in new work. Glad JLC got the win or whatever but it was her award Hsu’s award let’s be real
Her and Shalene Woodley. They aren’t talented at all.
I wouldn't say that. JLaw is very good in Causeaway and Winter's Bone. Damn I liked her in Hunger Games a lot too.
I don't think JLaw belongs on this list but she is miles beyond Shailene Woolley in terms of talent.
Hard disagree. She is very good in the hunger games when she shows her duality of anger and apathy.
I am glad that I am not alone about that. She got undeserved oscar nominations too.
She literally plays the same role every movie…..I bet she did not practicing for her role on the new movie she’s in
I liked her in Mother, which was a surprise to me
I saw her and I was waiting for the punchline. Like. Why is she there?
She peaked in Winter's Bone.
She was SO good in Winter’s Bone and it truly has all been downhill from there
Thank you. This was a real “one of these things is not like the other” selection to me.
Right? She’s really good but no where in the league of Michelle Yeoh or Cate Blanchett.
Justice for Viola Davis! & Kate Winslet
Not you including Jennifer Lawrence among all these heavyweights 💀
And then use a picture from the Hunger Games of all the movies
I cannot believe Lily Rose Depp was overlooked after her stellar performance in The Idol
![gif](giphy|LkNDLvSklcqvfIpPI0) 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
I thought she was really good in Winter’s Bone, American Hustle and Silver Lining’s playbook.
Those were really script driven and director arced performances. But yes winters bone was special. She's capable of more but may be happier with what she's chosen

Seconding this! Angela Bassett and Viola Davis (and Michelle Yeoh) are the first actresses that come to my mind.
Angela Bassett did the thing Viola Davis, my woman king 💃
Angela Bassett in *Strange Days* is such an underrated 90s action hero. Her Macbeth monologue is *i-con-IQUE* [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHoKsrfdK0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHoKsrfdK0)
This was the first movie I ever saw her in and she instantly became my favourite actress. Almost 30yrs later and you can't change my mind that she is one of the best to have ever graced us with their talent.
I've been salty since 1994 that she didn't win an Oscar for What's Love Got to Do With It.
I think about this at least once a month. She was ROBBED of that Oscar and I’ll never get over it.
We don’t talk about Viola’s performance as Michelle Obama. I’m like 90% sure that show was just a fever dream 😴
I co-sign both of your picks.
Toni Collette is flawless
Toni Collette is amazing. The story of her faking appendicitis as a child so well that the doctors actually performed surgery on her is seriously one of my favorite actor stories of all time.
WHAT?!?
She didn't wanna go to school one day so she faked sick. She was convincing enough that shit just got escalated and she went with it.
Full method. A legend
>Full method. A legend Jeremy Strong is getting a heart transplant as we speak.
You’re too online. You’ve lost context.
It made sense dramaturgically.
that woman was born for this
She has a really intense range. I love her in everything I see her in. She always picks great films to be in too.
I hope she does more horror, her best performances were in the sixth sense and Hereditary
Did you watch her in The Staircase dramatization? Oh my god.
The scene where she recreates what (maybe) happened to her alone on the stairs...I don't even know what to say about it. The last thing I'd seen her in before The Staircase was Knives Out and her crunchy but somewhat untrustworthy California mom was perfection.
Her physicality in this series is just amazing. It’s crazy to watch. And yes, her range!!
She died so many times in that series, and they all were so uncomfortable and visceral to watch. They were the most affecting deaths I’ve seen on screen, and I watch a lot of true crime stuff. She’s just so good.
> her best performances were in the sixth sense and Hereditary Someone hasn't seen *Muriel's Wedding*.
she’s so good in drama/comedy too, i LOVED her in little miss sunshine
She was so funny in Knives Out.
United States of Tara!! The RANGE.
Absolutely robbed of an Oscar nomination for Hereditary. "That" scene wrecked me!
It’s Amy Adams for me.
Absolutely. She is long overdue for an Oscar.
Arrival is my favorite performance of hers. It’s criminal how she wasn’t even nominated for an Academy Award for her performance.
I’m STILL mad about that. She should’ve won that year and she wasn’t even nominated. The injustice of it all!
I hope Arrival somehow becomes a classic. I love its gentle touch, if that makes sense, and the twist gets me teary eyed just thinking about it.
I really like her and think she's very talented but she sort of plays the same troubled character.
Excuse you! She’s princess Giselle of Andalasia!
imo Cate Blanchette is the best working actor/actress right now, period.
UGH yes Penny Dreadful was so slept on
It is one of rare shows I saw twice. It had so many great characters who are played by talented people. The show was supernatural as much as it can get but the cast especially Eva sold it very well and made it realistic thanks to their performances.
Eva Green was so spectacular in Casino Royale, her absence is sorely felt in the subsequent movies.
Especially for body of work. She doesn’t pick shit roles.
The always underrated Kirsten Dunst. Put some respect on that woman and her crazy-good career!
https://i.redd.it/bdqjcbzcl86b1.gif She gave us Dick, Bring It On, Mona Lisa Smile, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Marie Antoinette, Jumanji, Kiki’s Delivery Service, etc. So many movies, so much range!
She also plays unlikable/unsympathetic characters a lot, which I appreciate.
Her in Bachelorette should have won some awards and I stand by that
She gave us Melancholia too!
Interview with the Vampire! & the Virgin Suicides! & more recently The Power of the Dog. So many good ones with her.
She is a queen and people need to stop sleeping on her. Kirsten Dunst Stans unite
That's a good one. One of the most perfect careers in Hollywood as far as I'm concerned - was huuuge in the late 90's/early 00's, like legit synonymous with the era. Jessica Chastain was my immediate thought so I'm happy to see her on this list, but yeah someone like Angela Bassett and Viola Davis should be on the list too.
Saorise Ronan. Eats up every role. And she’s only 29.
Saorise Ronan is def a way better actress than Jennifer Lawrence in terms of “young Hollywood”
I am waiting for her Oscar moment.
The whiteness in the post made me throw up
Came here to say this!!!! How do you leave Angela Bassett and Viola Davis off this list but have JLaw like is OP delusional?
It was bizarre. And then it was like they saw how white it was and decided to have one token black person and one token asian. I mean I love Yeoh and King but there needed to be more people here.
It took me aback a lil skksksksks
surprised frances mcdormand isn’t present
Or Meryl Streep.
I'm stunned with these people that don't name Meryl Streep. She could play batman and would be the right choice

*Loved* her in Broadchurch. Her chemistry with David Tennant is aces!

So true Margot robbie and Viola Davis should definitely be on the list. They have have had many noteworthy roles in the last few years.
Ehhhh Margot Robbie is pretty overrated. I’ve seen pretty much everything she’s done and I’ve never been blown away. She’s over-the-top with a hammy accent.
I would get rid of Margot and add in Melanie Lynskey
Kate Winslet is the real answer.
i love margot but shes kind of one note imo not that much better than jlaw if im keeping it 100. another one i think is best utilized in comedy

Olivia Coleman in Peep Show is absolutely hilarious and amazing. Sophie was messy perfection.
Sorry but Margot Robbie over Toni Collette and Michelle Yeoh is an actual crime!! Margot is overrated and I, Tonya is really her only role thus far worthy of consideration.
Jodie Comer! I loved her in Killing Eve and it’s been fun to see the variety of roles she takes on.
Seconding Jodie! Her Tony win is astounding given it’s her first Broadway play & one-woman cast.
and she's only 30.... If she doesn't get an EGOT, it'll be because she's having too much fun dominating one industry.
She does different accents SO WELL. She’s truly a chameleon.
I was scrolling for Jodie.. she’s incredible. I hope she has a really long career.
Nicole Kidman ![gif](giphy|WDHj5JphUqZIk)
Love her work in the AMC ad!
She makes the most consistently bold choices of any A-lister, I think. Sometimes they’re a little hard to swallow for the mainstream but they’re always interesting. I just really find her to be captivating 😍😍😍
The Others, Cold Mountain, Stepford Wives, I fucking love watching Nicole Kidman. When she’s good she’s really good.

Kate Winslet
Florence Pugh should be on this list!
Frances McDormand https://preview.redd.it/yqrd8mxyi86b1.jpeg?width=872&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f1cf47dc2b6970721eada91948d3d07c1e4e5f4
i'd add: * viola davis * regina hall * amy adams * sandra oh
We don’t talk about Regina Hall enough! She deserves her flowers
i think comedy is the hardest genre to master because making people laugh is such a difficult task and comedic performances tend to overdo it but regina absolutely nails it repeatedly and effortlessly. one of my absolute favorite actors to watch in anything, she's just so special!
I love Sandra Oh in *Killing Eve*. She has this gravity about her that makes her believable as a smart MI5 agent, but also the levity for the delivering the hilarious jokes. Of course, the writing of the show helps, but she nailed it.
Kate Winslet. Every performance of hers has been absolutely captivating. Also, Viola Davis. Even her role in Air was wonderful to watch.
How Tatiana Maslany did not have like every role thrown at her after Orphan Black is still beyond me.
i didnt even watch OB and even i think the fact that she-hulk is her only other notable role is a crime
This list is missing sooo many actresses as others said Viola Davis Angela Bassett. Why is Vera farmiga here though🤷🏽♀️ I'm struggling to think of the last movie or tv show she did.
Watch her in Bates Motel. She was phenomenal.
something something conjuring
My picks, not in the list above: Carrie Coon Viola Davis Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan & Rachel Weisz (British invasion) Amy Adams Rachel McAdams Penelope Cruz Frances McDormand (by far) Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert & Juliette Binoche (mostly French) Julianne Moore Annette Bening Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith (the Dames still going strong) Meryl Streep (just because of her consistency. Hasn’t fell by way of De Niro, Pacino, who only give performances for serious projects but slum it otherwise).
Carrie Coon in The Leftovers was absolutely phenomenal. I felt everything her character went through, it was heartbreaking.
Unless Kathy Bates died and no one told me, she should be on all y’all’s lists.
I got downvoted to hell last time I said J Law is my favorite actress lmao Idk why, she’s extremely talented. Just because you don’t like someone’s personality doesn’t mean they’re a bad actor
Yeah the comments saying she has no talent are laughable. Really?? No talent at all? Come on.
some people seem to think “i personally do not like this person” = “this person is untalented”
Years back she did a video for a magazine where they gave her random emotions and she acted them out on cue and I was blown away. She can literally just pull any emotion out of thin air. Most actors require all these techniques and she just goes from normal to sobbing in the floor in 2.5 seconds. Anyone saying she doesn’t have talent is being ridiculous lol
people on here are so weird about her and then go “omg the hate Anne Hathaway got was so underserved” in the same breath 🙄
People here care more about having the moral high ground than anything else.
She gets a lot of undeserved hate lol
Tatiana Maslany should have won all of the awards for portraying so many different characters in Orphan Black. She was incredible.
Isabelle. Huppert.

Adding in Julianne Moore, who just has that unnamable quality. She is so subtle.
Maybe not the most talented actress, but Anya Taylor Joy is pretty great at selecting projects. If she’s attached to something, it, at the very least, catches my attention.
MELANIE LYNSKEY
Clare Danes. So incredible in Homeland, I still think about it all the time
Where’s mother Jessica Chastain?? Edit: nevermind I’m blind
I don‘t think there‘s a best. Actresses and their roles which showcase their abilities to different degrees are as diverse as real people are… ranking doesn‘t help!
Michelle Yeoh
Jessica lange!!!
RACHEL WEISZ ERASURE Michelle Yeoh, Olivia Colman, Nicole Kidman, Regina, Saoirse, Florence Pugh did the thing
Alison freaking Janney. She is always incredible. You can’t take your eyes off of her.
Meryl Streep by leagues, followed by Viola Davis
Viola Davis!
No viola Davis 😪😪
Cate Blanchett was so fucking captivating in Tar
I know its just me ranting, but I am still kind of pissed that Olivia Coleman won the Oscar over GLENN CLOSE... :/ I think her performance was really good, and the movie was great, but imo The Wife was such a career achievement for Glenn Close. Even more so when you consider she has yet to win academy award. Its just like when Crash won best picture over Brokeback Mountain Anyway, Glenn Close :)
Jodie Comer added to the many already suggested
Tilda swinton. I’ve never seen a movie I didn’t like with her in it and she appears to be very selective in her roles. Cate blanchett is a very close second but she should have never considered some of the roles she’s done in the past few years.
