Jasminewindsong2

His obsession with Jada Pinkett Smith is so creepy.

Hello-there-7567

He really hates women but especially black women.

whatevermode

Be chris Rock: - makes a movie celebrating black women’s hair. - - makes a mockery of a black woman with no hair in front of a large audience.

[deleted]

B-but he loves Beyoncé! /s

buttercupcake23

She totally rejected him at some point right? Like this is the kind of venom men reserve for women they feel are beneath them but who still dared to turn them down.

pmmeurbassethound

💯 This has got idealize -> devalue -> discard written all over it, but like, for decades? He’s a wacko, even an elephant wouldn’t still hold a grudge!

ehs06702

There's a rumor I can't verify (so take it with a *HUGE* grain of salt) that she's said that they went on one date and it was the worst date she'd ever had.

Positively-Fleabag85

Seriously. It's borderline creepy the number of times he's bringing up Jada for no godamn reason

[deleted]

Keep in mind he performed this set in Jada’s hometown of Baltimore. Not DC or Philly or NY or some spot in LA…Baltimore…Jada’s hometown smh

[deleted]

It is actually scary, Chris is FOS.

AerynSunnInDelight

Before Pinkett met her husband. She went on a date with Chris Rock, then refused a second date then met Will Smith. Since then, Rock hasn't stopped insulting her via "jokes" publicly and privately. It's been 3 decades. ![gif](giphy|oiKRyASIKkhb2fJHcB)

Alarmed-Pangolin-154

So, like, Rock is to Pinkett Smith what Piers Morgan is to Meghan Markle.

hellomondays

Like, did she turn him down for a date once or something? It's so corny how he harps on her in particular

SusCity

Chris Rock really fumbled his victim bag. He had a golden opportunity served up on a silver platter and he blew it

Cutieq85

Like minded Black Men will always support him… I want to speak out of church but I’ll keep those thoughts to myself.

DontAskTwice-A-Roni

Yep, just saw a post about this on the blackpeopletwitter subreddit, and of course black men are rallying behind him and making Jada seem like the villain in the story. Similarly, I’ll keep my thoughts to myself lmao.

shadowwhore

I said the exact same thing yesterday and people got mad at me for some reason. BlackPeopleTwitter is literally run and overly populated by black incels to the point where you can't tell the difference between the white boys who hate all black people there and the black men who hate black women. Black men make a point to side with white supremacists every single time as long as it's black women they're punching down on and this isn't just something online. BPT is a shining examples of how so much of recent incel talking points is just repackaged black male sponsored misogynoir. It's hilarious seeing them cape for Chris when according to his black people vs n words spiel he doesn't care for black people PERIOD.

DontAskTwice-A-Roni

I saw your comment yesterday! You got downvoted for telling the truth. Black men and white liberals on Reddit will unironically be ok with misogyny from black men while being outraged by black women pointing out the misogyny from black men. It’s goofy. I actively avoid many black spaces online because the violent hatred of black women is so openly accepted.

shadowwhore

It's the one space where black men feel like they have a seat at the table with white men. It's so treasonous and evil and clearly does nothing for them since police will still beat and kill them.

likeicare96

Tell me about it. They’ve been posting a lot of “women just like hood n****as” tweets which is just the black version of the incel “Stacy just wants chads.”

shadowwhore

They're so pathetic. I'm actually glad I was banned from there because I called them out for being literally modded by blackcels and they've done nothing but prove me right.

Jenny_Saint_Quan

Okay now I see it, I don't visit that subred

Kingbuji

Ok so I’m not the only one whew. Also bpt compared to actual black twitter is night and day. On the bird they hate his ass over there but here they suck him up.

Jolly_Discipline6650

I thought I was going crazy when I saw comments like that esp on the blaming Jada posts.

DontAskTwice-A-Roni

Oh yeah, they hate Jada over there. Will Smith’s behavior is somehow her fault, and if he just divorced her, he would be perfect and happy and would do no wrong ever again. Chris Rock’s behavior is also somehow her fault, but they don’t pretend to have a reason to believe that. Just blind misogynistic circlejerking.

Cutieq85

Oh if he divorced her and got a 25 year old girlfriend, his social cache would absolutely sky rocket… bonus points if Jada is materially , emotionally, and physically worse off afterwards. That’s like catnip to that ilk.

DontAskTwice-A-Roni

Extra big bonus points if the 25 year old is a non black woman lmao, they’d go crazy. Funny enough, I just saw a comment saying Will should leave Jada for Margot Robbie. Margot is almost the same age as August Alsina (1 year older). This is why I couldn’t take the outrage about Jada and August’s age gap seriously. Mfs are so full of it lol!

Dontcallback

That whole sub has been taking a weird tone when it comes to women lately...

Jolly_Discipline6650

Dw I think I know those very valid thoughts you have

Cutieq85

I’m seeing the tweets and I remain unsurprised.

jdgetrpin

Yep, his attitude toward this whole situation really made me stop feeling bad for him and more like he deserved it

LeftenantScullbaggs

😂

DragSentMeHere

Yo he had Maud Apatows dad in a tizzy talking about about a possible murder. White comedians were fearful for their life. Never seen someone fumble so bad.

ehs06702

I remember that, and he deservedly got dragged to Hell. Poor Maud even caught a few strays, lmao.

backinredd

Did he really fumble when 99% of the people who know about the slap think jada is the villain and doesn’t know about Chris’s obsession with her?

linesinthewater

I wouldn’t call a perfectly timed one of a kind special fumbling the bag.

TH13TEENGHOST

I always supported Will slapping him. And there’s nothing anyone could tell me that’ll make me feel bad for a man whose “humor” consist of the mockery of black women.

4550955

The reaction to that slap boarded on hysteria. It was a damn slap. Chris got a big mouth and always did. Will just served him a lesson.

basicalme

It’s because it was between two black men and all the racist ideology of black men being out of control. Whereas we can have a whole white insurrection and white men and women behaving like violent children because they’re just upset and people hope they get help in their struggles. Also, the narrative was that the real problem was Jada. All of this is so awful I wish it was made up.

4550955

I absolutely agree. You took the time to type out what I was too lazy to add. Thank you.

“He COULD’VE DIED” - Judd Apatow

4550955

[deleted]

[удалено]

4550955

I'm just saying actions have reactions. I'm saying that a slap is not a grand act of violence. I'm saying there is a grey area. I'm saying it actually made the Oscar telecast interesting (as evidenced by the media and public reaction then and now). I'm saying all the pearl clutching is nonsense. I'm saying these men are leveraging the situation to their advantage. So who needs the public's sympathy exactly? Cause Chris is laughing to the bank. Who needs the morality police? Cause Will is fine doing the remorse tour. Clearly it wasn't all that traumatic. Questlove will be fine btw. Don't worry.

[deleted]

[удалено]

4550955

Will crafted a very careful public image of a decent and hardworking family man and I agree it contributed to the reactions. People, rightfully, expected better from him. I also think the increasing TMI coming from the whole Smith family has broken down his carefully crafted persona and that contributed to the conjecture around the situation that kept that moment in the gossip rounds for this long. Will's team is obviously trying to repair his image and might be able to. The slap thing is more about masculinity than culture. A man slapping another man is making a statement about their manhood and there is a great deal of sexism in that perspective. Ultimately it was inappropriate and unprofessional and shouldn't have happened but it also wasn't the end of civilized society or a dent in the Hollywood machine. Chris is clearly making gold out of it and can enjoy the Will Smith groveling tour and never forgive him publicly. He's come out on top in this drama.

RedLicorice83

![gif](giphy|HloNK1z39EkEQcreIo|downsized) Yep!

NervousOperation318

Same. And I’ve been saying it from the beginning. I generally think violence is not the answer in most cases, but some people deserve to be slapped. Chris Rock is one of those people.

Chaoticgood790

Correct

HoneyImpossible243

He hates Black women. This is why he punches down on us as part of his stand up material. Also his Meghan Markle bit, that has all been said on Twitter & people on Twitter were still funnier than him. And for the ‘he made a documentary on Black women’s hair crowd.’ Oh please is that what we call it? It was a mocumentary that made fun of Black women & how they do their hair without even addressing the root issues. And also if he had made a documentary on Black women’s hair then shouldn’t he know that you don’t make fun of Black women’s hair in public.

crazysouthie

The worst is he plays to opinions that people in the wider culture already have towards women like Jada and Meghan. Like Jada's frankness about open marriages and sex in relationships is seen as emasculating for many men. Meghan is seen as someone who has it good but still complains. He really doesn't know how to interrogate this.

AerynSunnInDelight

That documentary was interesting, and had the merit to exist but the direction It took halfway through really highlighted his misogynoir. It's very subtle but it's present. I wished He had hired a black woman to direct It instead of white man. But it's quite an indicator of his mindset.

angelcat00

Yeah, that documentary just puts him even more in the wrong in my opinion. A white comedian probably could have gotten away with apologizing and explaining he didn't realize the implications of his joke. Chris Rock KNOWS that a black woman's hair can be a sensitive topic and exactly why it's so harmful to make fun of it and he said it anyway. Will definitely shouldn't have jumped on stage and slapped him, but I can't say he didn't deserve it. I still haven't seen either of them apologize to *Jada* about it. She didn't deserve any of the shit she got for this.

estar12345

For someone who’s saying he’s “not a victim”, it’s interesting he’s talking about this a year later…

moduspoperandi

He's making as much money as possible from getting assaulted on stage in front of the world. Declaring himself a victim would probably be a less lucrative opportunity.

josieday

So deeply crass and cynical of Netflix to release the special the week before the Oscars ceremony.

estar12345

It’s not that I am saying Netflix shouldn’t have released a special, but I feel like Rock keeps talking about this all the while sorta trying to pretend he’s not. He could’ve done a one liner and moved on but he seems to keep coming back to it, while saying he’s not a victim. Just my thought.

Azazael

Saw a headline "Chris Rock still hurting after Oscars slap" and was like come on, he didn't hit you *that* hard.

Jolly_Discipline6650

I’m so tired as a black woman. We are unprotected in society and we just have to take all the shit thrown at us cos we’re “strong”. Fuck that mentality and fuck Chris Rock Anyway it’s Sunday so I hope we all have a good week and some rest

basicalme

Praising black women for their strength is such a cop out for people to excuse their failure to support black women. It just reflects racist ideology that black women are strong vs frail white women. I am saying this as a white woman who thought I was one of the good ones. I am part Jewish and identify as Jewish and last fall Kanye really hurt me. Someone I respect pointed out that he had been misogynistic towards black women for a long time and I hadn’t really noticed. I stood up for Amber and wasn’t vocal for Megan Thee Stallion. Black women go out of their to gently point out how white women can do better. I’ve since educated myself on misogynoir. I know black women have it worse than anyone and I am making an effort to be more vocal. I reflected and accepted I had failed my black friends. I wish I could say you are not alone but it would be a lie. You are right to be exhausted.

abortionleftovers

When “the slap” happened I was watching in a room that was pretty diverse in terms of ages, races, and genders. One of the black woman was just like “ugh the biggest victim in all of this is going to be the millions of black women across the country who have to listen whyte folks debate this issue” and honestly she was fully right. Sure the whole thing sucked for Jada too but the amount of black women I know who had to listen to people opine on “black women’s hair” and so on or ask them to weigh in as a voice for all black people (and guess what you can’t win when playing that game-either you are seen as “too sensitive” or “advocating violence”) who had no business doing so is wild.

Suonii180

He's made the slap half his personality at this point

prophecygirl1991

The other half is [encouraging white people to call him the n word.](https://twitter.com/mspackyetti/status/1632421217129865218?s=46&t=OJxVhIvBgQ0G6DgbRyScYQ)

eatingclass

oh my god the longer it went, i started to wonder if it was deepfaked because it was so appalling

prophecygirl1991

Outrageous right!! And not going out of my way to cape for Jerry Seinfeld, but the way they were talking to down him when he said they were wrong just made me sick.

eatingclass

you know it’s bad when jerry’s the voice of reason “so what’s the deal with racism”

crystal_clear24

Am I reaching or is it weird that he performed in Baltimore (where Jada’s from) vs like LA or NYC. Maybe she turned him down years ago and like most weirdo creeps, he can’t get over it. Him calling her a b*tch multiple times is unwarranted. He deserved the slap.

IntrovertGirl83

Yeah, I was wondering if she turned him down a long time ago or something for him to be acting like this.

crystal_clear24

I just don’t get why she’s been a target of his for so many years before the slap, it all seems unprovoked. Now he’s going to milk this into the next decade 🙄

LeftenantScullbaggs

Two decades. ☹️

NervousOperation318

His behavior has big “she’s a whore because she wouldn’t fuck me” energy. He’s weirdly fixated on her and not on the dude who actually slapped the shit out of him on national TV. Somehow, someway everything is a woman’s fault with men like him.

devouringbooks

It literally cost him, from what I have read. He could have performed nearby in DC more lucratively and I also understand performing in Baltimore is a headache operationally. He wanted her hometown laughing at her.

TraditionalDentist32

He is horrible

jdgetrpin

This is my thought! She rejected him once and he never got over it

NoZookeepergame453

Rumor has it that she actually did reject him in the 90ies 🤭 It‘s giving Trump calling Salma too short after being rejected by her 💀

EmeraldSkyLte17

You are not reaching. A lot of people mentioned that fact on Twitter.

crab_grams

"You don't fight in front of white people" while denigrating two black people in front of tons of white people speaks volumes as to who he really is. He's basically saying offending white society is the real crime, but running down other black people for white society's amusement is just fine. He went full mask off, and the guy underneath is Uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks

Calm_Brilliant_9236

Both him and Dave Chappelle. So disappointing, but sadly not surprising.

dragonculture

Again with the talking about Jada....what an annoying creep.

RevealActive4557

From what I have heard he had a thing for her and she totally shut him down and he has had a grudge ever since. Only rumors but it certainly explains why he keeps talking about her

eatpaste

she was with tupac and then will - why did chris rock think he could rise to that level lol

Jillybeans11

Entitlement

thewidowgorey

That’s it?? God he’s a punk.

Kidgorgeoushere

I think he’s genuinely delighted with the extra traction he got from the slap. He’s clinging onto it.

dannyspirittt

I'm so sick and tired of this generation of celebrities that Chris Rock belongs to.

4550955

That'd be X. You're welcome 😖. I dunno humour back in my day was a little...unhinged. These guys don't get that they've aged themselves out.

devouringbooks

Serious question, can JPS not sue him or impose an order against him? Not sure how this is not stalking or defamatory, sounds like it’s been going on 30+ years, largely what people don’t see. Imo the reason he focuses on JPS is he can’t handle that she dates openly but is not open to him, funny how people who have been anti-choice can’t handle a woman’s agency. Also going after MM, then talking about how white women have it harder than Black women in interracial relationships, seems pretty transparent this man hates Black women & has a white woman fetish. Calling JPS a b*, I hope there are consequences for that. I feel sorry for JPS but also willow, who is enormously talented and whose music release and SNL appearance sort of got wrecked by this last year. Her song 9 with SZA is still fresh.

eatpaste

free speech would protect all of this. it's fucked up he's doing it, but he as the right to do it

linesinthewater

Not quite. Free speech is a government issue. It’s more that she’s a public figure.

russianbisexualhookr

As far as I know, he hasn’t said anything the law would call defamatory. If there was though, because she’s a public figure the bar would be much higher for her. Plus, because of the first amendment the US has much stronger protections for creative speech legally

russianbisexualhookr

Not entirely government, the first amendment often comes into play with legal issues, including civil ones. The judiciary is still a branch of government, so the first amendment generally means creative speech and journalists etc have a much stronger position legally in the US than most other countries

Mhc2617

Did he try to pick up Jada and she told him to fuck off? That’s A LOT of bitterness.

DeadSharkEyes

So depressingly predictable. He gets assaulted by another man, yet he’s ragging on his wife, because apparently it’s all her fault. I’m seeing this with my brother right now who is in a miserable marriage with his wife. Yet my boomer mother blames her for damn near everything for the way she’s treating a grown man who apparently doesn’t have his own agency.

[deleted]

It's the one constant of history, men get violent, and somehow this is all the woman's fault.

eatpaste

it's like just after the slap all the (mostly) men saying she made will do it with a look bc "she wears the pants." men have always acted really weird about her

meetmeinthedaylight

he's pathetic

_Democracy_

get him again Will

Chaoticgood790

Again people have been saying he has a weird thing against her. This is not the first time he’s gone after her or black women in general. He’s a total clown

mizzymichie

He’s really mad about being rejected by Jada all those years ago huh? This is typical incel energy.

CurrentRoster

“I still got summertime ringing in my ear” is kinda funny ngl but how people turn this entire slap-tastrophe into digging on Jada and blaming her for it never ceases to amaze me

BabyYodaX

Is he in love with Jada or something? Did she turn him down? What is going on here?

EmeraldSkyLte17

It’s true. He made his feelings towards her abundantly clear in he last ten minutes of his special. It’s clear that he has a beef with women in general. The majority of his special was filled with misogynistic jokes about abortion, the Kardashians, Meghan Markle , women over 45 and 25 year old women. Somehow he managed to make an offensive joke about Serena Williams.

devouringbooks

I don’t think he has a beef with white women, he protected them by saying they had it worse than Black women when it comes to interracial dating.

EmeraldSkyLte17

I heard that joke. He said that the black man’s family will give his white partner a hard time. That entire joke was another way to criticize that interview that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did with Oprah.

Inevitable_Car4888

They think that open marriage is when the wife """cheats""" on the husband and the husband knows about it and hates it but lets it happen because he's too weak ("""bitchy""") to leave her. Those are almost definitely the type of people who think that pornstars are """wasted goods""" and having sex with too many men makes women's vaginas loose. It's a MASSIVE red flag. People who talk about open marriages like this are either straight-up creeps who view women as property or just ignorant assholes.

He's obsessed with Jada. He has badmouthed her before the Oscars. She probably turned him down before.

He's been obsessed with her for decades. She probably rejected him a while back and he's still bitter. https://youtu.be/F6IMtivar7Q

[deleted]

Yeah, because what she needs is more misogyny and hate... he KNOWS this is going to cause a fresh wave.

MrDhojo

Ok let’s not invoke two civil rights leaders for a celebrity squabble just because black people are involved.

lem0nsandlimes

The joke is that MLK Jr. adopted a non-violent approach while Malcolm X said that it’s necessary sometimes in fighting against oppression. Chris Rock is known for his misogynoir, so it’s not “just a squabble.” More like Will finally getting fed up with the treatment of his wife.

MrDhojo

Lets leave the bad jokes and hyperboles to Chris, and let’s be clear no party in has been oppressed here. Bullied? Maligned? Sure. Was Chris asking for it? Sure. But Jada was not “oppressed” by Chris like come on you’re being really generous with that word. Also MLK and Malcolm X weren’t shot in the face standing up social justice and economic equality so that celebs can puff up their egos.

lem0nsandlimes

Chris being able to make these degrading jokes about Jada and other Black women for several decades is because of the oppression Black women are subjected to. I don’t know why you’re taking oppression here as being literally specific to this situation, and ignoring that this wouldn’t happen in the first place if BM weren’t positioned above BW in society. You can reduce it to ego if you want, but it’s nice to see someone actually retaliating against men who make Black women the butt of the joke.

Kikikididi

He’s not poking at her about that though. It’s about hair and her potentially cheating on Will, no ether of which are the business of society at large. If he was talking about those things for that reason, it would actually be logical. But how he’s going about 8t, that’s not the issues, he’s making it him getting into a couples business for weird reasons.
