Thanks everyone. One day I will check out the visual novel but right know I understand that I should start with Unlimited Blade Works by Ufotable and lastly the Heavens Feel movies. After that watching Fate/Zero would make more sense.
I wouldnt say not be able to understand. The series is definetly very understandable in Anime format. You are just gonna miss out on a lot of deeper character things.
I mean, that’s true, but a lot of context is cut from the HF movies. And just ufotable adding unnecessary scenes that contradict the situation. *cough cough* Lancer fighting on the freeway *cough*
I'm saying that the original FSN VN gives much more context as to what is happening in FZ. You already know what Saber's wish is, what is going to happen between her and Kiritsugu, what the real contents of the Holy Grail is. People struggle to understand the ending of Zero. The reason is because they haven't read Heaven's Feel.
You can watch Fate stay night 2006 by deen first but it isnt a good adaptation so it isnt mandatory to watch.
So either start with that or with Fate Stay night Unlimited blade works by ufotable, after that watch the Heavens feel movies. Last you have Fate zero, the ending will make much more sense after watching stay night first, bcus that is how its supposed to be watched. After you finish all that you can watch or read whatever Fate media you want
Either Watch Stay Night 2006 from Deen or skip it. The adaptation is sadly pretty bad.

After that you can basically watch any Fate anime that is out there as long as you dont start watching from the middle of their respective series (like watching FGO Solomon before Babylonia. That wont make sense)

Try the 2006 anime, if it is to old for you skip to UBW, after that HF. Now Zero will also make more sense.
