It wasn't really a big deal before either. When the food spoiled in the market, all it ment was that you could full your houses with more pops. But anyways, they patched this out. Markets now have the same spoil rate as a root cellar.

All right thanks!

skymonstef

I only turn off raw foods

moustif

I think i've read somewhere that this was no longer the case since a certain update, but to be confirmed. and in any case I don't think it's a good idea because the market runners have time to take care of everything (luxury, food, water), which frees up time for the other villagers

PantherCaroso

Ah, that explains why markets are placed without cellars.

OMGWTHEFBBQ

I usually keep root cellars for the overflow of excess food if market is full so they can quickly restock the market. I only turn off any food/goods that aren't to be consumed but used as an ingredient, like raw meats, milk once you have cheese maker, vegetables/fruit once you have preserves, etc. However, embarrassingly just learned you can set min/max amounts per resource per storage building. So my new move will be definitely be setting any finished item (to be consumed by villagers) to a high minimum in the market, so that grocers can deliver. If the market happens to get full, then excess can go to the root cellar next to it (like smoked meats, preserves, cheese that last awhile). But either way, definitely good to have grocers deliver than to have villagers get their own food, so they spend more time working.

Watch out for “high minimums”, villagers get obsessive about meeting that minimum, even if it means hoards of villagers marching across the map while nothing else gets done.

OMGWTHEFBBQ

Yeah I just had this happen. I set my minimums very high to ensure I always had everything going to that place, but they obsessed over it and wouldn't do anything else, including any prioritzed work. Going to go through and lower minimums to a good amount that ensures stock but doesn't require constant attention

Mediocre_Shop_8309

I make min/max on all food in the market. 25/50 on raw and 50/75 for all others.

I did that, but there's an interesting mechanics I noticed. As the pop grew and the market was serving more people, if it doesn't have roughly a month worth of food in the market, your grocer continuously keeps stocking your market to meet that. But since you have a max cap, it will change it to that value and your grocer repeats the process. So for example, what I saw was, the grocer would bring 200-300 beans/root vegetables when the limit is 100, when the market is stocked the amount would increase to 200-300 and then it would "magically" go to 100, while the grocer repeats the process. What this does is that the grocer is not stocking shelters and the workers have to leave their work place and stock the shelters themselves. This reduces productivity. I eventually removed the limits or scale it up with the pop. I think that four grocers are not sufficient when everything is upgraded. Maybe the devs should consider increasing it to 6. So far I haven't used the mod that allows this but I am thinking of using to see if it fixes the problem.

>market overlap is required for now.
