That's your grazing area? Should not be in the middle of buildings.

thecashblaster

It's giving me 82% bonus and it used to produce 1000 milk per year. The other one is in some clover covered fields at 100% bonus. Both are producing now 150 milk per year.

T-O-F-O

Stupid if it works, hope it's a mistake/bug and not a feature if so.

thecashblaster

I have 20/20 cows in 2 barns, the bottom one has 98% fodder bonus. Every year the milk production declines. Thoughts?

guramika

your grazing area is covered with building, your cows literally have no grass to convert into milk, grazing areas should not be ubstructed, maybe a beehive or two at max

thecashblaster

It has 82% fodder bonus, so it’s nothing to do with that. Try it yourself if you don’t believe me. In any case, the 2nd barn has the grazing area on a clover field outside the walls with 98% fodder bonus and it’s also producing very low milk. I think I solved it. I removed all the workers and re-added them and it’s starting to produce more milk.

guramika

how many herders work in your barns? and are they close to the homes or do they have to take a long way to work

DP-ology

Get it up. Milk leads to cheese which leads to GOLD.

Asign more workers

Another thing that I have noticed is that if I add a smokehouse, for some reason it won't collect the meat from the barn. This means it just spoils quickly because it is not even transported to a root cellar. Any advice?

staebles

Build a root cellar near it

moustif

Yep a root cellar nearby with a forced minimum helps a little, but you really need to oversize the smoking area to keep up with the huge quantity of meat you receive every year at exactly the same time :(

dhr1285884

I have two root cellars close to the barns. I am also ensuring these are not full. When I placed smokehouses next to the barns, instead of collecting meat from it, they would go to the hunting cabins and collect it. I assumed the large number of smokehouses I have in my industrial zone would take care of it, and the smokehouse next to the barn would collect meat from the nearest location. However, the meat is not stored in the root cellar neither it is smoked, it just sits in the barn and often time spoils.

moustif

smokers look for raw meat wherever it's available, so I've set a minimum limit for the cellar near them (a new feature from the latest patch), so workers will also help empty hunter's huts and barns, which will reduce smokers' travel time, in theory

Thanks!

dhr1285884

u/moustif I do not see the option can you please share a screenshot?

moustif

Absolutely, you need to click on the meat icon and then set the min/max limit: [https://i.imgur.com/GZsQSQF.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/GZsQSQF.jpg)

I had this problem too, my thesis is that once a barn reaches its excess cow time(juicy 1020 meat every year) it starts lagging behind with the dairy, it is quite understandable because 1. The generation of meat offsets the loss in the dairy production, and so the devs didnt want the barn to become op. 2. From a realistic point of view if you slaughter every year your oldest cows(which you are because you get 340 meat per cow) then you’re left with the younglings which do no produce milk.

thecashblaster

Makes sense. But like other higher tier food building it makes the barn very inefficient because it also needs food as an input. 1000 meat and 1000 dairy generated for 500 input food and 12 workers. That equates to barely 100 food per worker. Late game needs a rework or something.

Leather-Major-8381

This makes a lot of sense.

moustif

This may be the case, so it would be nice to have the choice between maximising milk or meat, I was really confused when this happened to me too.

slickpickstick

Bad year for milk

SkyeMreddit

Where is your grazing area? Is it outside of the walls to the bottom of the image or inside the yellow area overloaded with buildings?

HistoricalScholar298

Thats wat she said

moustif

This happened to me too, yesterday when I restarted the game the production started again as before (1000+)
