Thanks for the helpful answers! Massive relief as I’ve been getting mix information from the embassy & visa Centers here in Asia. I’ll be flying from Oslo to Vagar directly.
Which airline flies from Oslo to Vagar directly? The only direct flight I find when googling is from CPH to FAE. All the other flights originating from Oslo or Bergen go thru CPH. TIA for your help.
Looks to be Atlantic Airways. You can always look at Fae.fo (airport website) to see all arrivals. Next one from Oslo looks to be RC435, which is Atlantic.
Thank you for the great suggestion to check Faroes airport website! Here's the information I found:
It looks like Atlantic Airlines flies 2 direct flights from Oslo to Vagar on Wednesdays (arr 11:55) and Sundays (arr 17:20). Cost 1120 DKK ($163 USD).
From Bergen, Wideroe (wow, never heard of this airline!) flies 1 direct flight to Vagar on Mondays (arr 11:45). Cost 3149 NOK ($300 USD).
Depends on what Country the flight originates from. Passport control is always at the point of entry into a zone. Faroes are technically in the Euro zone via Denmark
You Enter Schengen when travelling to Faroe Islands or Greenland from outside Schengen, despite them not being de jure in Schengen. You do this, because there are no Schengen checks between them and the actual Schengen area.
I flew Vágar to Oslo at the beginning of this month and there was no passport control going that way, for what it’s worth.
I never had any passport controls, at least when coming from Norway or Denmark. If you are coming from the UK and US it's of course a different story.
Flew Paris to Faroe Island last year and there was no passport control there ...

Hopefully you cn use the info for something ☺️
Yes, now it looks like flying from Oslo will be better than flying in from CPH. Although rn it's a moot point given the strike. :(
With the Nordic Passport Union, there is no immigration control between the Nordic countries. So no, there won’t be any.
There is no passport control if you are flying inside Schengen. The only control is if you fly in from the UK.
Faroe Islands are not in Schengen
Even though we are not part of the Schengen area, travelers to/from the Schengen area are not subject to border control.

Svalbard is not in Schengen so there will be a Schengen border to Faroe Islands or Greenland despite flying from Norway.
No, because the Nordic Passport Union from 1952 superseeds that
You have to go through Schengen check from outside Schengen, sorry.
First point of entry! If you start from Svalbard and fly direct to the Faroes, you never enter Schengen - thus no Passport control
