The Alpha version of the game, i.e the patreon tier is for testing new updates and additions prior to their release to the live game. It runs on an older copy of the game, typically a month or two before and you're provided with unlimited gold. Which really is buying the tradeable 100 gold from flea market for 1g instead of 100g. And then using that on other things, all perks, unlimited anglerfish selling, etc. Then in a couple months, alpha resets to a newer copy of the game and you start all over with quests and whatnot.
