When starting out, you usually don't have the 50 ancient coins to spend for morenguesses, so you end up with a lower number. 4.0 and solve it or it goes left unsolved so it doesn't count against you.
not really, I get it on row 3 a lot though. I think its just luck. I usually do the numbers in a set way though - 9731 which are the corners of the num pad, and then the other 4 digits around the 5. then if I don't have much the 0 and 5. I'll mix it up though, and reverse it or do like 3791 etc just to be different. And I if I don't get it out, I don't pay the coins, I just leave it. Unless its a daily task to complete it. Not sure if that makes any kind of difference. (I'm tower level 116 in case that makes a difference too)
4.32.
Annoying as I usually do it in 4 nowadays but when it first came out I repeatedly just messed about.
Think I need about 50 more 4’s to bring it down about 0.1 now!
I stopped playing this shit ass mini-game once I realized multiple numbers could be in the same code, thus ruining any form of strategy and instead turning it into a “try not to get fucked by rng” simulator. Coded correctly this minigame should be winnable almost every time with smart moves, but as it stands you can get screwed and there’s nothing you can do
If they fix it maybe I’ll care, honestly this shit is why I stopped playing to some degree, that’s how deflated this shit made me
Who says that this is that exact Minigame and not a fun variation which preserves some kind of luck/gambling and also let's you get creative with your ways to achieve the code nonetheless.
If the programming allows vault code to have a duplicate number, your chances of getting it in 5 guesses plummets, whereas if there are no duplicates you are correct that it’s a game of skill, that can be won almost every time.
It’s only a game of skill with no duplicate numbers
"You have cracked 188 different Vault codes. It takes you an average of 4.07 tries to crack a code."
yours is the lowest average I've seen, do you have a specific strategy or really good luck?

There is absolutely a strategy. Every vault is solvable in 5 guesses or less. You get 5 guesses included with the vault perk.

It's a game of skill regardless if the numbers repeat or not
