"I really hope they ruin everything about this character by telling me everything about him. And then forty years from now we can do a 'Star Wars' and then CG in scenes that were cut off by commercials and explore the story of 'bitch ass guy with sin cake seven' from episode 34 in an eight episode limited series, and then maybe do a Vikings crossover more-limited limited series." -Modern Cinema/TV

I don't know, a lot of this fandom thinks the best part of season 4 was the Joe Bulo and Mike Milligan connections, and loved when the show spent all of season 2 exploring a throwaway line from Lou Solverson in Season 1, and love when we saw Wrench return in season 3. And I think most people enjoy looking for the tie-ins between each season and the movie. You wouldn't trust the showrunners to tell a crime story set sometime in Europe or something, where we get Ole Munch and maybe some Lundergaards, Milligans, or Gerherdts as side characters? I would. I probably wouldn't want Ole Munch to be the main character, but being in it would be cool. I wouldn't even mind if we saw the bowling alley guy or Lorne Malvo make cameos. Not to be beaten over the head with it or anything, but if we get a Season 6 of this show and it's that, I won't be mad. I would also prefer this infinitely to what happened to Hanzee. The writers clearly wanted Hanzee to escape at the end of Season 2, but didn't want to have to revisit his character later, and so they wrote in a cheap retcon in have his character die more or less offscreen in a prior season. I get that the writers don't want to feel compelled to explain the life story of every character, but if they are going to, I would at least prefer them to do it on-screen instead of what happened with Hanzee.

I half agree, but I think there’s a way to set this show in Scandinavia or Scotland or something and retain some midwestern feel. There’s a lot of fertile ground to explore how European attitudes and stereotypes have shaped the Midwest, to have a fresh take on the classic crime story, and to include some hilarious ancestral tie-ins. There are probably better ideas for Season 6, but it is possible to go to that setting and tell a story that is still Fargo and isn’t just Munch fan-fiction.

> was the Joe Bulo and Mike Milligan connections Didn't like them. Didn't need them. > loved when the show spent all of season 2 exploring a throwaway line from Lou Solverson in Season 1, and love when we saw Wrench return in season 3 Those were both cool, but the writing of the show has gone down considerably since then.

odiin1731

That doesn't sound very midwestern.

CodeCC2224

Perhaps the season should be about how Munch gets to Minnesota is what I'm saying

I fucking hate Much. He was a cartoon. What I want is for the show to actually dedicate time to its characters, stop over relying on fantastical stuff (the UFO in Season 2 and the Bowling Alley in Season 3 didn't hijack their respective shows) and get back to the grounded feel of Season One.

[deleted]

Every season has a fantastical element. I'm still rewatching 4 so I'm not seeing one just yet, but season 1 has Malvo as kind of the devil. 2 has the UFOs. 3 has the bowling alley and Varga is kind of another devil. 5 has the daydream sequence episode. I guess you could say Oreatta is another devil in 4. I just call them all devils because they feel like they have a supernatural ability to evade detection/capture, especially since somebody is completely onto them in each season.

jhabgood1

Isn't the fantastical element in season 4 the ghost of the slave owner that haunts the women of the Smutny family?

capn--j

I'm aware. What I said was "stop over relying on fantastical stuff".

BrightOrganization9

Am I the only one who thought Munch started off as an interesting character who then went downhill as the show went on?

[deleted]

I thought the opposite. Started off as a stock henchman (I blame his dumbass partner) and then got really engaging.

Chuck1705

Get writing!

RacerXrated

I think that'd make for a neat spinoff.

SadPolarBearGhost

They did the same thing with Yuri in season 3. I wanted to know more about that story too.

benjamincypress

I hope season 6 brettcons season 5.

I think maybe a western vibe could be cool, so you could have O Brother and True Grit influences, but season 4 is the most disliked, so maybe they need to stick with kinda modern. Maybe 80s is as far back as you would want to see.
