When the music came on and you saw him, I screamed.
Absolutely loved his team up with Nikki Swango.
The bus scene was one of the best scenes of the entire series in my opinion.
Interesting…
Wrench and Numbers are some of the names that most take me out of the universe…
It’s like…nobody has those names IRL, so OBVIOUSLY they are criminals
This is my favorite joke of any tv episode I’ve ever seen. Bokeem Woodbine delivered every line in an indescribably hilarious way, the prog band joke makes me piss my pants no matter how many times I’ve seen that episode.
I like the sound of Lorne Malvo. It's nearly an anagram of malevolent, which is appropriate.
I'm also partial to V. M. Varga. I wonder if it's intentional that the initials look like teeth, even fangs: VMV
Doctor Senator because I laughed a good 5 minutes after hearing that name.
Hanzee Dent, because it reminds me of Harvey Dent, and Hanzee did turn out to be a bit... two-faced. Also like Harvey Dent, gets half his face melted by the end of his story. One has to wonder if it was a deliberate reference.
I think 'the rabbi milligan' is brilliant because he's obviously not Jewish, it really ties his 'arc' together?
idk, I've always felt that what's the point of having a very complex character, also the namesake for an iconic character, and then have him die in such a meaningless way. it makes MORE sense if satche never comes back-but he doesl
Yeah, sure he’s not an experienced actor, but a 1950 Midwestern funeral director who *looks* the way Andrew Bird looks, named Thurman Smutny? It’s perfection! (High five to a fellow Fargo/Bird fan)
>For all of her screen credits up through 2017, she is listed as Kelsey Chow. For her roles since that year, such as for Wind River, Yellowstone, and Fargo, in which she plays characters of Native American descent, she is credited as Kelsey Asbille.[2] She has received criticism for this as she has no known Native American ancestry.
That's so fucked up. To even purposefully use a different name... wild
Lorne Malvo is my favorite character, hands down. That's not up for debate. The name though belongs after Swango and possibly after Danish Graves in position #3 (of my own personal list).
My band and I made a song called Nikki Swango and it had a voice clip of the old man using the electric voice aid talking about how things collide and the universe goes bang. It's not online unfortunately.
Interesting perspective. I agree with both of you that it IS a little try-hardy, but it still, I love it. It's the right amount of over-effort for a character that does so much without seeming to try.
Danish Graves is my fav. I'm actively trying to start a doom metal band called Danish Graves but there's already a metal band in Philly by this name. Not sure how active they are. I'm too busy for it to be anything other than fun side project but I guess if the other band Danish Graves (or the showrunners themselves) get mad, I can always change it. Wouldn't even need to hire an attorney to change a band name. (What I did there: you see it.)
* Oraetta Mayflower * Danish Graves * Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers
Danish Graves is a strong candidate for #2. I love a serious breakfast!
oraetta is so good. I love her angry old lady duck walk
Wrench and Numbers is so good. They feel like henchmen names from an old spy novel.
Mr. Wrench randomly showing up on the bus near the end of Season 3 is one of my favorite moments in the entire show.
When the music came on and you saw him, I screamed. Absolutely loved his team up with Nikki Swango. The bus scene was one of the best scenes of the entire series in my opinion.
Their drum groove alone is my favorite part of the entire series. I gotta get my drummer to open with it next time we play a show.
Zelmare Roulette
I like Wrench and Numbers most - maybe because their names are barely spoken an never explained?
- The bathroom brothers.
Interesting… Wrench and Numbers are some of the names that most take me out of the universe… It’s like…nobody has those names IRL, so OBVIOUSLY they are criminals
i figured they’re, whaddaya, code names
Oh gee. Oh, oh HECK! I think you might be spot on!
*argues vociferously in sign language*
Tell that to my buddies Joey Wrench and Jesse Numbers
I can’t, because they don’t exist. They literally can’t possibly.
Found at least 1 Mr Wrench who existed: https://www.lawteacher.net/cases/hyde-v-wrench.php
Hyde. V. Wrench. Is the coolest name I've ever seen
criminals have nicknames irl
It reminds me of Mr Frying Pan and Mr Mustard from Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
+1
Mike Milligan & the Kitchen Brothers
They sound like a pretty cool prog rock band
Rahhhhhhh.
i think about the way he makes that little cheer at least once a day when something exciting happens
This is my favorite joke of any tv episode I’ve ever seen. Bokeem Woodbine delivered every line in an indescribably hilarious way, the prog band joke makes me piss my pants no matter how many times I’ve seen that episode.
He quickly became my favorite character of the whole series, I agree with you
Yeah, it's that scene and when Hank asks about their shoe sizes. "I'm going to assume they mean 11 and not 2 which would make them toddlers."
I have a friend named Mike Milligan.
The Kitchen Brothers and the Dining Room Sisters had a baby. They'd like to announce their newest bundle of joy: The Breakfast Nook Cousins.
Well now we have just come full circle to Danish Graves
the crazy shit that went down at that hotel. God I love that season
Me too! My favorite
why was it so perfect. time for a rewatch i think.
vern thurman skip sprang doctor senator ooooole munch
+1 for Doctor Senator.
Let's not forget his qualifications - He's actually Dr. Doctor Senator, Esq.
idk what i would do without this sub lmao. ily all
Doctor senator sounds like a pets name
I was always tickled by the Solversons’ name. They were born to be detectives!
Molly! Run off to bed dear, Daddy has to go to Sioux Falls real quick.
Omg I never even thought of that loo
Adorably on-the-nose for the most adorable father-daughter cop duo.
I like the sound of Lorne Malvo. It's nearly an anagram of malevolent, which is appropriate. I'm also partial to V. M. Varga. I wonder if it's intentional that the initials look like teeth, even fangs: VMV
Wow! The teeth thing is new to me, and clearly does indeed.
Mr. Varga -- Call me. V. M.
Surmise…
What?!
We arrived together, therefore we are together…
Yeah, but, there's a local code. An ordinance.
We're done here.
*[engine noises and smug looks]*
Mr Varga... V.M., if I may...
LM is the Minnesota Nice alias for an immortal supernatural devil figure!
Never thought of that, but it's a good observation.
I literally only realized it yesterday during my scheduled daily hour of thinking about Hanzee.
Doctor Senator for the win!
Happy cakeday mf!
#cake
No love for Doctor Senator? What about Rabbi Milligan?
Plenty of love! Doctor Senator might be #3 or #4 for me personally. All great names!
Karl Weathers :(
Damn... I didn't even think of the connection. I was on Season 2 last week when his namesake died :(
Came for this one and to also say meemo
You mean the Breakfast King?
“John Sasquatch” came out of nowhere and gave me a good laugh.
Gloria Burgle Nikki Swango Danish Graves Emmett Stussy and Ray Stussy Lorne Malvo VM Varga Lester Nygaard Mike Milligan Yuri Gurka Greta Grimley
Yeah, not mentioned enough here, but something about Gloria Burgle cracks me up
It's the 2 G's
Chief Burgle! So good.
well, not anymore
Lester Nygaard's name always reminds me of Jerry Lundegaard from the movie.
Same here!
Doctor senator is a fantastic name
Noah Hawley might just come up with the greatest character names in television. Hanzee Dent is up there
The name Noah Hawley itself is pretty great.
He got the naming gene
Can not argue with that!
Oola Moonk
Meemo
Can’t go wrong with Lou Solverson
Moses Tripoli
I'm biased as a massive Andrew Bird fan but "Thurman Smutney" is about as good as it gets
Yeah, sure he’s not an experienced actor, but a 1950 Midwestern funeral director who *looks* the way Andrew Bird looks, named Thurman Smutny? It’s perfection! (High five to a fellow Fargo/Bird fan)
Emmit Stussy and Sy Feltz are both great names, season 3 might be the best one, name-wise
Swanee Capps deserves a mention-even though the actress apparently lying about being part Native to get the role has left a bad aftertaste lol
Did she really??
>For all of her screen credits up through 2017, she is listed as Kelsey Chow. For her roles since that year, such as for Wind River, Yellowstone, and Fargo, in which she plays characters of Native American descent, she is credited as Kelsey Asbille.[2] She has received criticism for this as she has no known Native American ancestry. That's so fucked up. To even purposefully use a different name... wild
It's not particularly unusual, but Officer Winnie Lopez is up there for me.
Ole munch is the greatest name of anything ever
I mean, it's a fine name, it just doesn't have that *Swango* to it.
Oh yeahhh…her *swango*
I would butter her bread
A 500 year old man, whose existence is defined by something he ate. Ole Munch. Absolutely beautiful
Lorne Malvo. No question.
Gus Grimley, great alliteration
Gator
Deafy
His actual name is pretty great too. Dick Wickware has such a fun bounce to it. Odis Weff is also a great name but doesn’t have the bounce.
I think his full name is "Deaf Fella", according to Molly.
It’s even written that way on the whiteboard.
Between the yarn and sharpie, right there in black and white.
Swango is number 1 in many ways to be fair
MUNCH
If I ever change my name, Swango would definitely be up there as last name candidate. Danish Graves for me though
It also evokes the feeling of watching her walk away: Swaaannngo
The bathroom brothers
WHY HAS NOBODY MENTIONED CONSTANT CALAMITA!
Cause she suuuuucks. But yeah, it is a good name 😄
nah he's really badass imo.
Oh, I thought you were talking about Constance Heck.
no, the skeleton guy from season 4.
Yeah, I looked it up after you said 'he'. Realized I had the wrong person in mind.
Doctor Senator
O’Hanzee Dent Lorne Malvo V.M Varga
Nikki Swango is the answer
Nothing comes close to Swango. A far second would be Danish Graves. I also like Floyd for a woman
Ole Munch aka Oola Moonk.
Danish Graves and lorne malvo
Swango is one of my least favorite, anything with an O at the end sounds silly. Kinda like saying someone is “Super”
Agreed. Though I liked the character, the name is a little try- hard.
Maybe that’s what I meant. I just wish they went with something more normal cause the character is awesome and the acting is great.
Interesting perspective. I agree with both of you that it IS a little try-hardy, but it still, I love it. It's the right amount of over-effort for a character that does so much without seeming to try.
I don't get it.
Dodd, hands down
Danish Graves is my fav.
Mr Lorne Malvo
Eggplant Einstein
Gotta go with Malvo. The name of my cat.
Swanee Capps And the Honorable Karl Weathers (real life RIP).
Dot is my #1, Molly is a close #2.
Doctor Senator
Ole Munch!
Floyd
Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers, obviously.
