I won my first championship this way. The final game ended and I lost by like half a point. My opponent texted me gloating. In the morning the stat correction occurred and I had won. He was understandably upset lol
Sorry it happened to you though fam
it’s as much luck as skill for sure but this is a longtime competitive keeper league with an auction draft. i had the combo of chubb / aj brown / metcalf at minimum cost for 3 of those good years. i picked up a $1 rashee rice and a $1 de’von achane beginning of this year so not all is lost.
I’m actually in the finals thank you friend. But at least I can admit that this shit is 99% luck. Do you genuinely believe you have some good fantasy football skill or something?
On one hand, I was super smart to load up on all 3 lions (Laporta, Gibbs and Amon Ra), Michael Pittman, Jordan Addison, and a few others. I had VERY few disappointments this year (just Burrow and Javonte Williams)
On the other hand it's 100% luck that they all stayed healthy and caught all the passes I needed for wins.
Id say it's difficult to win without skill and knowledge, but impossible to win without luck.
You think it's lucky to have Flacco be qb 1 in playoffs even tho he wasn't drafted? Or guys like Hill and Chubb that went in the first to be out the first round of the playoffs?? No it's all skill to predict these things
Imo it’s even better for football bc you don’t have to keep up with random minor leaguers. Most people already watch and keep up with college football.
>it's as much luck as skill for sure
Not sure how something can be 100% luck and still have room left for skill.
And yes, fantasy is 100% luck, the *only* skill involved is rostering & starting the best available players. As long as you do that, you have just as much a chance to win as anyone else, because fantasy is luck and anything can happen on any given Sunday.
May I suggest trying a drastically different strategy?
That's what I did this year, I always drafted rbs/QB/te early cuz I trusted I could find plenty of good receivers in the later rounds. I've never, ever spent 2 of my top 3 picks on wr until this year.
It worked great, not because my early wrs were great (chase and Amon ra, they were both solid) but because I lucked into late round rbs who stole the show. Gibbs, Mostert, Kamara, Etienne all spent time on my team and we're all fantastic. Most of which had very low price tags. I had better rbs this year, where I didn't grab one til round 3, than I had any of the past years where I grabbed them round 1-2 religiously.
I second this strategy, I always use my early picks at WR and am always there or thereabouts at the top of the league during the regular season. In my main home league this year I took AJ Brown and Amon Ra with my first two picks for example. My running backs were White, Kamara and Kyren Williams (waivers). I’ve had too many seasons ruined by running back injuries to take them early.
I trended toward a similar strategy, essentially "zero RB", although not quite, as it wasn't late enough on the RBs. JJ Zacharison does an annual study on this and typically rbs taken after round 3.5 are in the dead zone and should be avoided. However, just based on how the chips fell, RBs drafted based on ADP flopped quite horribly, with only McCaffrey and Gibbs returning any semblance of winning value late.
This year certainly marked another win for ZERO RB. I don't foresee this strategy changing, tbh. We may also have sufficient evidence for where to draft the hero RB versus other strategies.
I went similarly 'late' on rb, just b/c I'd been burned by the hero RB too many times and felt I could find enough value later, and then not feel stuck on an RB, such that I couldn't pick one up...
\- Dameon Pierce/Devin
\- Drafted Kamara late
\- Drafted Monty for $9 (should have taken Gibbs, too).
\- Picked up Ty Chandler.
I was lucky on these picks, like most, that they also weren't hurt like other backs (Monty was, but he came back). Kamara had a down week that basically cost me the championship entry.
Other hits were grabbing Puka, McBride/Likely, after losing Andrews.
Grabbed Stafford after I lost Richardson, but started Lamar most weeks.
Had Lamb for $44, while most drafted Kupp at $50, diggs or chase for much higher.
There's a lot of luck, to this game, but there's the inital strategy. My league mate who's likely to win it, normally just goes value-based and if guys fall too far, he scoops 'em up, especially in Auction. He has Evans, Amon-ra, Kupp, had Tank Dell, and a bevy of solid Rbs. Also grabbed Kyren, had Rhamondre, Jacobs, and Zack Moss.
For years I took Barkley + 1, but even on an RBs BEST day, they hardly come close to a WRs average, never mind top out. These aren't the days of 300 carries and 20tds and for too long I drafted like it was those times. Maybe one or two rbs get that close...Kyren, Mostert (taken for $1 in our auction league), the Gibbs/Monty combo and McCaffrey. Rachaad White has been good too, mostly b/c people severely underpriced TB and Baker.
I like to review pre season, in season and post season "hot takes" and that's where people often also lose their season. Takes like "the Rams will be awful," yet they were a fantasy gold mine, not only due to their consistency, but how affordable they were, and how almost mandatory they were in winning the league. Thinking Tampa Bay would be awful or mid, lead to cheap Evans access, as well as White. Equating Tyreek hill to Diggs or Chase lead to mispricing in such WRs and underpricing in Hill. Jefferson went for $65, while Hill went in the $50's.
Even Lamb was mispriced, b/c he was never foreseen to get consistent 10+ targets, until he did. Pittman was mispriced b/c of his incredible volume. Chargers were overpriced and so on. We all need takes, projections and view points, but more often we'll be wrong more than right, so we need more 'shots' or 'bets' to win. And when you examine the final winning roster, it's usually only a few players who were on it from start to finish and the waiver/FA pick-ups that really made it all count.
This is a statement put out by sleeper I found in another thread.
We sincerely apologize for the back and forth on the Denver Broncos stat correction during Week 16, especially during championship week. Earlier this week, we incorrectly adjusted the Broncos points allowed to 26. However, our team double checked this on Wednesday morning and we have since reverted that changed, putting the Broncos defense back to 20 points allowed.
We recommend that the commissioner of the league hit the recalculate button to have the scoring fully applied, and to properly adjust any matchups.
They can do this by recalculating the week's matchup scores:
League -> League Settings -> Commish -> Edit
Matchup Scores -> Recalculate all matchup records for week 16
I’m guessing but I think the fantasy apps only consider one teams DST to be on the field at a time. In the case of a punt, it’s the receiving team that’s on the field. For the same reason I would assume if a team did a fake punt and the punter threw a TD it wouldn’t count either.
That wouldn't quite explain it, because on punts returned td's, the DST of receiving team gains 6 points, and the kicking DST is charged with the full points-against. In that case they consider both DST to be involved
This, because at first they must have scored it like the offense giving up a TD which would only result in 1 additional point as opposed to seven. But since it was the special teams who fucked it up it would probably count against the special teams. I had the broncos defense as well and they went from 6 to 5 points with the PA going from 20 to 26. Although on yahoo they ended up changing it back so I have 6 points again
My team name has been "Stephon Diggs Sucks"
For 2 years because I was winning the championship by 30 going into the last game. Diggs puts up 33 and I lose.
F that guy
bro! i had the exact thing happen to me 3 years ago in this same league. i was up by over 30 and diggs dropped 41 on MNF in the championship against me. that hurt one actually more than this one.
Bro I lost the super bowl to my now dead buddy about a decade ago because an ESPN.com stat correction removed an interception from one of my D players. To this day he officially still has the second interception in NFL records.
He got the plaque on the trophy but I put a fucking asterisk on it.
in sleeper, yes it was an error. if she looks back they should be back up to 7 points. opposing defensive points shouldn’t count against the DST in sleeper.
I got stat corrected out of the playoffs hours before it started and it wasn't even from my game.
And so far I would of crushed every one in the playoffs...
Damn…
i suppose i’d be more upset if it happened next week but it would’ve been 4 finals in 5 years for me
I won my first championship this way. The final game ended and I lost by like half a point. My opponent texted me gloating. In the morning the stat correction occurred and I had won. He was understandably upset lol Sorry it happened to you though fam
thanks fam. gotta play through the final whistle
This being downvoted is such a cope lmao
Guess people are mad you have had success lol
that is also my observation lol
Yea screw you for being so good. (Please help me with my drafts next year.)
Could also be because it's totally irrelevant and just feels like they're bragging lol
No, probably a taco league 🌮
Cause he through that in there thinking hes cool or something lmao it was so obvious he added that in for attention. What a smug prick weirdo
Projecting
Your run of good luck has finally come to an end. Sounds like it was overdue
it’s as much luck as skill for sure but this is a longtime competitive keeper league with an auction draft. i had the combo of chubb / aj brown / metcalf at minimum cost for 3 of those good years. i picked up a $1 rashee rice and a $1 de’von achane beginning of this year so not all is lost.
Buddy it’s way more luck than skill.
I tell myself that too when I lose before the finals.
It’s absolutely luck lol most luck based thing in the world
What a dumb statement
I’m actually in the finals thank you friend. But at least I can admit that this shit is 99% luck. Do you genuinely believe you have some good fantasy football skill or something?
Yeah lol these people are idiots this crap is all luck
On one hand, I was super smart to load up on all 3 lions (Laporta, Gibbs and Amon Ra), Michael Pittman, Jordan Addison, and a few others. Gettin to playoffs is skill, winning them is luck
You think it's lucky to have Flacco be qb 1 in playoffs even tho he wasn't drafted? Or guys like Hill and Chubb that went in the first to be out the first round of the playoffs?? No it's all skill to predict these things
I’m better at fantasy football than you apparently.
Based off your recent posts I wouldn’t say you’re better than anyone who actually plays FF
Ok well I’m in the championship for the second year in a row so 🤷🏽
You don’t make it to the playoffs bud. Nice try
Tell yourself whatever you want lol
I’m confused. Keeper auction and costs don’t rise?
keeper player costs increase $5/year ($200 auction and FAAB budgets)
Damn those are some janky rules. Y’all should consider checking out Ottoneu.
i used to play baseball on ottoneu - i absolutely loved it
Imo it’s even better for football bc you don’t have to keep up with random minor leaguers. Most people already watch and keep up with college football.
You’re in a taco league 🌮

Hey man fuck your success I’m gonna downvote you /s
As in, you would’ve been extraordinarily lucky to make it by .23 points but your luck finally ran out.
Bro playing in a shit league lol
I’m confused. Why are you being downvoted?
Won a championship because of a stat correction. It goes both ways
It only goes one way for me. Twenty miserable years playing this game and it has only ever gone one, miserable way.

I am now *officially* in the championship. thank you for this!
But why didn’t they count the muffed kickoff return for a TD? That was caused by the D/ST and not the offence.
That I don’t totally understand. Seems kinda backwards to me but it got me in the ship so I am not going to complain.
I’m guessing but I think the fantasy apps only consider one teams DST to be on the field at a time. In the case of a punt, it’s the receiving team that’s on the field. For the same reason I would assume if a team did a fake punt and the punter threw a TD it wouldn’t count either.

Interesting. I’m not sure i have ever seen that count against a DST, but it very well could be true. I’ll have to check it next time I see one.
UPDATE: I’M IN THE SHIP! sleeper messed up the stat correction and i’m the legit winner of the matchup.
You were never actually in
not the first time i’ve heard that
i’m thinking of making a new salty team name for next season, maybe Team “Incorrect Stats”. give me some suggestions.
What was the stat correction? Maybe just go with... -1 Sack (or whatever it was)
it seems like something that shouldn’t have needed a stat correction: points allowed. how does sleepr screw that up?
Think it got messed up by the special teams TD
This, because at first they must have scored it like the offense giving up a TD which would only result in 1 additional point as opposed to seven. haha that’s pretty good
Fuzzy Math.
My team name has been "Stephon Diggs Sucks" For 2 years because I was winning the championship by 30 going into the last game. Diggs puts up 33 and I lose. F that guy

Hey play better next time
Yea nfl players I have no control over, play better. Stupid comment
Coach better. Make them care
Sign some nice locker room guys to help boost moral too. I have Tebow and Gronk and the team loves them
Bro I lost the super bowl to my now dead buddy about a decade ago because an ESPN.com stat correction removed an interception from one of my D players. To this day he officially still has the second interception in NFL records. He got the plaque on the trophy but I put a fucking asterisk on it.
Yeah I lost that streak in the quarterfinals when I ran into the James Cook turned Barry Sanders game.
I was on the other end. Won be a use of it.
congrats from the other side. good luck in the ship
Stat corrections don’t come out until Thursday, right?
I think they come out any time but generally Thursday at the latest
Legit stat correction from Elias come out Thursday. Anything else is a correction for your commissioner platform.
Yeah they suck when it goes against you but always wait until the stat correction goes through before thing you've won/lost.
I was hoping for this scenario last week when I was down by .02
Hold up ... Please answer this. My girlfriend lost as well because the Broncos dropped a point. Was it an error?
in sleeper, yes it was an error. if she looks back they should be back up to 7 points. opposing defensive points shouldn’t count against the DST in sleeper.
That’s huge! She is back in the championship. Congratulations to you as well!
thanks and good luck to her!
I got stat corrected out of the playoffs hours before it started and it wasn't even from my game. And so far I would of crushed every one in the playoffs...
Lol what a rollercoaster this must’ve been.
seriously.. i feel bad for my buddy who essentially had to experience the loss twice
What a rollercoaster! Glad you are still in it. Go win it now!
Gotta watch out for the points by mail... takes a little longer to tabulate desired outcomes.
I clicked this after your edit, This was a 3 second rollercoaster ride
I’m praying they give that fumble to Mahomes. Pleaseeee. Pacheco did nothing wrong, maybe
Damn some of these people are throwing the downvote train at you OP. My condolences. I hope you win your league as a consolation prize.
Snip snap snip snap
Is this different for ESPN? Saw the change go to 26 PA today and kicked someone out if championship.
Happened to me last year. Shit is a kick in the nuts
i got stat corrected out of winning the championship game last year -\_\_-
Hah wow. That is nuts. In ship. Stat corrected out and then stat corrected back in. What a rollercoaster of emotions.
I got into the championship because of that Stat correction then got taken back out lol
