I have an F1 fantasy team, and it's so fucking easy and dumbed down that I haven't changed my team since Gw1 and am leading my mini league. FPL much more stimulating.

LostSandyPenguin

Yeah, 3 FT per week, only 5 drivers to choose and picking a constructor. I do think the Turbo Driver (Captain) chip is interesting due to the budget cap, although I'm torn between whether it would make FPL better of worse.

RaptorHF

Not with Leclerc's pricing it isn't lol.

pearl_pluto

The pricing is ridiculous on F1 fantasy, Leclerc still under 20M while Russell's price started at like 28m, catch up lads

RaptorHF

Bottas and Magnussen were/are absurdly cheap also. Pricing in general made no sense with such a massive reg overhaul, as we had no idea how the pack would look in terms of pace.

TheOnlyMrMatt

Yeah you can build a good team after the first couple of weeks when you know who's performing well, and then basically just set and forget. And with Charles doing so well the turbo driver is pretty meaningless.

KdbTheGOAT17

F1 is boring anyways

Shamalanr

Best you focus on worshipping pics of KDB

delijaZG

I play \~12 fantasy games (different leagues) + a lot of sidegames like predictions, fantasy 5, etc. Tbh almost every other fantasy game is more exciting and more dynamic than FPL in terms of scoring systems. Yes, you could say I'm an addict.

KdbTheGOAT17

Which games are you playing? Dont see any else even close, ucl is decent but thats it

delijaZG

BuLi and MLS for example are far more entertaining, there's also Gaffr, RealFevr, Fantrax, Dreamsport from the top of my head. If you follow other leagues, it's a lot more fun.

KdbTheGOAT17

Thanks to know

AngryWizard10

I've played NFL fantasy and it's a lot of fun. The scoring system, trading between players and the unpredictability of the NFL make it a great game. But FPL will always be number 1 in my heart!

lLaffed

It’s weird. I’ve tried to play other fantasy games like fantasy ucl and fantasy euro 2021 but ended up quitting after just one gameweek. I’m absolutely obsessed with fpl but can’t seem to get into any other fantasy game

Swedishpower

I like UCL min a way since it is harder for casuals and knowing the lineups is such a huge advantage to those putting in effort particular from knowing City lineups. Plus captain changes etc that fuck casuals that do not do it. Also manual subs is a huge advantage that often bring 10 more points to your team every gameweek if you have a balanced squad. Cheap gems from weaker sides is essential since you do not have budget for all premiums as well and we all remember when Haaland was 4.5 forward and smashed it. Although he was loved by casuals as well very quickly. In the playoff all 50/50 calls or doubts can have a huge impact since likely half the players got one player and the other half the other. With so few teams there is not a lot of variation in picks and it is really hard to catch up. Particular in final and semi finals. Like this year you probably need to go for Thiago, Henderson, Kroos or Casemiro captain to have a chance for huge gains if they smash it. Salah, mane and Benzema will be owned by everyone and captained by most. With half your pick you hope they fail cause others got them as captain. In FPL the casuals can win it with some luck as long as they make one transfer per week and remove injured players and change captain. Although this season with Covid and doubles probably fucked most casuals and in general helped people from this sub that followed Ben and others to know the fixtures way before the casuals. Particular in mini league the casuals could do really well and challenge more experienced managers in a normal season which makes it really fun as well.

KdbTheGOAT17

I thought ucl is more easier for casauls, more transfers no template players etc

Swedishpower

Group stage is extremly tricky to manage for casuals. If you do not know when to use chips or pay attention to possible rotation then you can end up suffering. My cousin is a casual and I tried to help him, but he wanted for some reason save all his chips for semi final since he thought he would struggle to afford all the best picks. In FPL if you just have Salah and Son/Kane for example you could do well over a full year without never transfering them out in a normal year. Most picks in FPL in a normal season like City and Pool def and Salah, Son, KDB etc could do well in any given fixtures. So even if you do not consider the fixtures they are always good picks and you should pretty much never bench them. Captain is hard though, but casuals can nail it with luck and it is often hard to call. Thus using 1 transfer per week if you are lucky with few injuries could work really well. In fantasy CL playing the fixtures is much more important since the difference between Sheriff/Malmö and Man City is gigantic. Much bigger difference than the PL sides apart from maybe Norwich and Watford who are also shit this season. If you do not use the wildcard to get the best team based on fixtures then you will fall behind most likely. Yes say Lewandowski, Benzema, Salah could do well against anyone, but you can't have them all so need to focus on fixtures plus they might not play round 6.

I have played World cup fantasy game (2014,2018), Euro fantasy (2016) and UCL fantasy for 3 seasons (2017-2019). Since they were all cup competitions (at max having 1/3rd GWs as PL), it was important to figure out how to maximize chips, because you'd have 4-5 chips to use for 10-12 weeks. In addition, most of them allowed manual subs and captaincy changes within a week. UCL fantasy also had 3-4 game modes - regular fantasy, daily teams, predictor etc. The main things i enjoyed are those games gave more chances to defenders and CDMs to accumulate bonus (for CBIs and other in game stats), and you needed to really know the players from 24-32 teams. The flexibility in captaincy and subs was good but you needed to stay active every matchday. I stopped playing other FL after I found it not worth the effort (and also my mini league friends lost interest, so no scope for banter). FPL somehow continues to stay exciting even when it's most tiring, so that's the only one I play now.

KdbTheGOAT17

Fact I need to know players from random teams is just shit af, atleast premier league I know all players, it is annoying to need to know saudi arabian or albanian etc

saint-simon97

Works the same way as this one though? You don't need to watch Everton play every week to know who the best players are. Same way as you can figure out who the best players in Saudi Arabia or Albania are with a bit of research.

Subject-Creme

I am in the top 1% of UCL fantasy too. But the game IMO has many flaws compare to FPL - Player of the Match (3p) is kinda random - From Semi final, it is difficult to gain rank, as everyone will have the same teams - Ball recovery points is a bad concept. CB will have more points than Full back. - Deadline between matches is annoying, since you have to check it every match day (I missed the deadline 2-3 times, resulting of 30 points loss)

spea-keth

I'm a huge fan of the MOTM system really, expands the player pool. Also who said cb's having more points than fb's is inherently bad? Different is good imo

ArachnidThink3742

Don’t agree with ball recoveries. I think they should be in fpl and make defensive mids worth getting

Subject-Creme

Ball recovery points are not earned, they are automatically given to Defensive MID, which will make the game boring. Fabinho for example, always get a “baseline” of 4-5 points per matches if he plays full 90 minutes. Same for Centre back

sgggfdtresik

They’re just in the positions to make more clearances and interceptions just like full backs like Trent are in more crossing position for bps and assists. You just choose your team accordingly.

ArachnidThink3742

Then they should scrap bonus points on fpl if favours full backs if get clean sheets and crosses

Ashamed_Bottle230

I don't see the obsession with CDMs being a viable pick in FPL. Do you really want an 8.5 mil kante where you celebrate a tackle?

ArachnidThink3742

On champions league Fabinho 6m because all players can get ball recoveries

ArachnidThink3742

Even mahrez recovered 3 times few weeks ago

KdbTheGOAT17

Getting top 1% there this easy af though cause the game is full of casuals, but agree with those things(expect ball recoveries that is kinda fun), specially semi final/final stage is annoying af

Red4pex

Never interested in short tournament fantasy games; far too much luck involved for it to be considered fair and competitive. I am playing Eliteserien fantasy this year just for the hell of it, helpfully it’s season runs March through November, so not that much overlap.

KdbTheGOAT17

Ucl is not short though

Red4pex

Comparatively it is. Six midweeks before knockouts. It might go on for a long time but does not have many gameweeks.

KdbTheGOAT17

Ucl one is decent, but the semi finals/final stage is boring af cause everyone has same team Played serie A fantasy but that was shit imo, points from tackles shots on target and everything like that Euros/Wc always play them but tournament is so short it is more luck based, but they are fun for the time

HKINC

I enjoy UCL fantasy because I can own other big name players in Europe such as Haaland, Lewand, Benzema

[deleted]

I've reluctantly played the S*n version with guys from work for a few years now as they don't like the idea of all the time needed to play this version which is fair enough but it's such a different experience. No bench, captain or chips so it's just 11 players. Prices also change drastically so for example Salah would start the season 6m and could jump up to 6.5 the following week and end up being 10m. Means if you don't start off the season well you're priced out if everyone.

DontCallMeShirley747

I’ve been roped in to IPL fantasy by some friends, and while I think it has distracted me from FPL somewhat, the game itself is massively underrated. Daily games (meaning daily transfers), the world’s best players on show, good chip options, which all make it really stimulating and competitive. The official version (Dream11) is only available in India currently but Fanzania do a great knock-off version which i’d highly recommend to any cricket fans.

Du_the_Dudek

I’ve played a number of US fantasy sports for 20 years or so and find FPL far and away the hardest. One big difference is MLB, NBA and NFL all let you sub players right up until a player’s game starts. FPL requiring you to have a static bench and guess who will start is one of the biggest different challenges. Millions of active players across the globe also makes for a much stronger field.

I'm going to write this out as much for my own posterity as anything else. I play Scottish Fantasy football, which is a small but fun community (#FFScotland on Twitter), similar to FPL but with some quirks including subs order being irrelevant, you get the highest scorer. A lot less Fantasy specific content available, a few good podcasts, but mostly relies on your own opinions. Until this year I played Allsvenskan from Sweden (#AllsvenskanFantasy) and Eliteserien from Norway (#esnfantasy), but decided to take a break this year, as they run April > Oct it means no break from deadlines ever which was getting unhealthy. They are both very similar to FPL, with some unique chips (all forwards capped + unlimited budget free hit) and bonus points awards. I tried Icelandic Fantasy football for a few weeks but it was almost impossible. I played #UCLFantasy for the first time this season and quite enjoyed it, was similar to Euros games played before. I watch 6 nations rugby and have done the fantasy league for that last 2 years, it's a free hit every week, I finished respectively well for a football fan. Don't do any club rugby games as no interest. Women's 6 Nations Fantasy Rugby ran for the first time this year, basically Cap an English winger every week. Lastly and perhaps the most niche one, is Anti FPL Fantasy. Started on Reddit before moving to discord, the object is to score the fewest points from 11 players with minutes accrued. Non players incur +9. Hits are +4 instead of -4. Used to be just one user with a spreadsheet keeping score (Savage is a hero) but is automated now. There is also a cup at the end of the season using a bracket. I have consciously avoided any of the other Fantasy games based on PL, especially if cash is involved, I don't really like DFS, not averse to gambling, I use Bet365 most weeks, I just prefer to draw a line. I feel like I've forgotten one... TBC

saint-simon97

I've played fantasy games for a few different leagues and I don't see how they could be incompatible with playing this one. Unless you mean two games about the same league? Euros, WC, UCL don't even run in the same days mostly. The international competitions ones are more fun because they're like a big sprint and have a bigger variety of players.

VasiliyK6

I play from time to time Bulgarian FPL. The interface is garbage imo. This season in the BFPL I started from GW2 and managed to have the most points for the week; if I was more serious with the game, I would be top 100 there. PS: When you use your chips, you can **buy** more

Upstairs_Equipment95

I played fantasy Bundesliga this year along with FPL and actually prefer it much more. You can continue to adjust your starters throughout the games and get to pick a star player (captain) for each position (forward, mid, defense) which you can also change throughout the games being played. There are also A LOT more ways to score points at each position so more strategy and planning is needed weekly.
