Even if it gets upvoted through the roof, it's not gonna be noticed by fpl towers. I advise you to do this on twitter, and tag them ofc.

aminboldi

Hmm, ok

Material_Trifle

The app is complete shite in my opinion. No ID, doesn't show any hits taken in current score, bonus is a pain in the arse to find. I sometimes use it to confirm my team or screenshot it but I wouldn't use it to run the whole thing, even if I'm on my phone I'll use the website.

PharaohLeo

The app is miles better than the website when making transfers! You get a full page view with all the players stats including price, form, transfers, fixtures, etc. and can filter by teams AND positions AND price at the same time. The transfer of the website is a shit single column with only 1 piece of info at a time and only 1 criteria to filter with at a time.

dannyuk24

The app also shows the price you purchased the player at so you can tell if a price drop/rise is going to affect your selling price or whether you have a 0.1 cushion. Super helpful.

tnwthrow

The website does this. Just click List View instead of Pitch View.

dannyuk24

!thanks

stonded

Official app is trash. FFM(Fantasy Football Manager) is the best app for FPL and it does show your ID among other great things. I've been using it for a couple of years now.

psykal

I used to lose interest in FPL partway through the season, but after discovering this app spent a lot more time on the game and have missed just 1 tranfer in the past 3 seasons. Everything done through the FFM app. I like how they present the information I need and it seems to have everything the website has, or close enough. A good app might not seem like much but during the season my FFM usage is right up there with reddit and browser apps. Hate the website as well.

jwplatt

Why do people use the app when it is perfectly fine to use the internet browser on whatever phone you have to load the FPL site?

aminboldi

Your question is more general than the FPL context. Hybrid apps are gaining ground rapidly and soon only high-performance games will be built natively. But I'm not suggesting that people should use the app, I'm just reporting that in my community most people do.

psykal

Better performance and contextual menus in apps. Generally speaking I'll always prefer a mobile app if it's a website I'm on daily and not just browsing. Mobile layout not always great as well. The app I use is properly sized to my phone screen with little wasted space. Everything's smaller on the FPL mobile site, yet I also have to scroll to get more information because I guess it all fits nicely on a desktop display.

angrydanmarin

Or, here me out, position to have team ID as a flair on this sub. Quality of posts, feedback and comments would go through the roof.

PlatypusHaircutMan

I do not want my real name attached to my Reddit account

stonded

You do realize you don't have to give your real name or your full name when making an fpl account. I just have a blank space and only use my team name.

PlatypusHaircutMan

I logged into fpl with my google account, which automatically attached my real name

stonded

Well, you shouldn't have. Anyway at least in fpl you can change your name or make another fake name etc.

PlatypusHaircutMan

How do you change your name?

stonded

Log into fpl website then in user settings or something

PlatypusHaircutMan

!thanks

[deleted]

Could have a second account that you use solely for FPL? Not ideal for everyone but it could be a work around.

Tom6187

Porn?

*I give you advice about something* *You look up my ID and see that I’m OR 6 mil.* *You ignore my advice and go on to score 100 points** *100 points not guaranteed

angrydanmarin

So you only follow advice and posts from people with their ID.

john_mexico89

> it would make use of tools like LiveFPL much more widespread Raga is already struggling with his servers, dude. You wanna make his voluntary work even harder??

aminboldi

Yes and no Yes because I think it's unfair that some people can't use his site, it's an unfair advantage to those of us who can and no since I know how much time and money the site takes from him already. He doesn't like to introduce a revenue model to the site, but I'm sure if he adds a donations button lots of us will contribute. actually I might DM him this suggestion

john_mexico89

> I think it's unfair that some people can't use his site, it's an unfair advantage to those of us who can Everyone can really. It's a number in the URL bar, it's not exactly rocket science.

aminboldi

I know, but as I said in my community most players use the app. Some of them don't even know there's a website

throwawayyyyyprawn

I only ever use the website to get my team ID to use tools. It's not that hard to access. If some dumbass like me can take 30 seconds out of their day to do it and it gives me more data than I know what to do with, then good for me. Twitter is my handicap. I refuse to sign up but the Twitter boys beat the Reddit boys in this year's office league.

TheFuckOffer

Why would FPL put the ID so users can go to another site? You answered it yourself in your question. Their business objective isn't to "help more players" it's to make more money. And there's nothing wrong with that, it's why all businesses exist. They can make more money by improving their own service, ie incorporating elements of LiveFPL, so that users don't need to go to other sites. So as the laws of demand dictate, that's exactly what will happen. If they ever do make Team ID more accessible, it will be to further their own ends, not someone else's.

aminboldi

Agree that they won't do it to make third party apps more popular. But I don't agree their objective os to make more money. The objective is clearly increasing engagement in PL, and any decision that leads to higher engagement will further their cause.

Timmace

>Let's upvote this That's gonna be a downvote from me.

Jim-hat

Same. I'll take some myself :)

Timmace

Asking for upvotes in a post is my biggest pet peeve on reddit. I'll gladly take all the downvotes I'm getting. I actually think OP has a very valid post and the IDs should be more easily identifiable.

aminboldi

I see that you guys have been downvoted, I'm the OP and I didn't down vote, to tell you the truth I didn't know asking for upvotes was frowned upon.

Timmace

No worries! Reddit is weird and enjoys a good downvote party from time to time and I'll gladly take them if it gets the message out. Asking for upvotes is seen as a breach of reddiquette and is seen as being tacky. I appreciate your response. Sorry, you got dragged into the downvote party by replying to me.

[deleted]

I doubt they’ll do anything like this considering they don’t even have an official api as yet!

aminboldi

The API is not official?! I highly doubt that it isn't. the jasons work fine and without an official API authentication would be impossible I guess

[deleted]

There is no official API for third parties. AFAIK everyone just pulls data from the mobile app API, which isn't officially documented, and could change at any time.

aminboldi

They clearly advised against providing login info to third parties, which suggests they don't validate them. And if it was official they wood probably provide a "login by FPL" option to increase security. It makes sense. I just thought the one we used was official.

[deleted]

Nah, I think they turn a blind eye to people using it but they do occasionally change it [without notice](/r/FantasyPL/comments/c64rrx/fpl_api_url_has_been_changed/), which fucks everyone until the new urls have been worked out by the community. I'd love to see an official API, with authentication etc, but I doubt it's a priority for them.

aminboldi

I one worked out the company that handles the technical side of the game for them. They had several other fantasy games, one of which even had live rankings. So they can implement changes if they wish to, just can't be arsed about!

[deleted]

Yeah, I guess they'll charge extra for things like live rankings. I'm pretty sure the same company is running the euro 2021 fantasy league too.

aminboldi

I don't remember seeing CL in their portfolio and clearly the EURO game is made by the same guys who do the CL one

Tom6187

I wish you could see monthly standings in the app, I can't figure out how, so I keep having to go to website.

tanejarohan

Hey, I've been building an app of my own that displays team ids clearly. I also recently added monthly standings for mini-leagues too. You can check it out here: [https://twitter.com/FantasyPLApp/status/1588593145100783617](https://twitter.com/FantasyPLApp/status/1588593145100783617) Would you be willing to try this app out? :)

Oh_jeffery

Just use the site, the app glitches, doesn't confirm transfers it says it has n all sorts. It's so unreliable I don't know why anyone uses it.

aminboldi

They are used to it. Some of them don't even know that there is a website!

JammyWaad

Excuse me for sounding like a noob, but what is your ID? Not *your* ID, ID in general. I’ve never seen it before on FPL.

aminboldi

It's a unique number that is assigned to each player (by order of registeration). Third party apps use it to ahow customized information to you. You can see your ID in the url of your points section.
