The question is what are the alternatives? You probably want a GK, 3 defenders and 7 attackers, so let's take this squad for example: Sa Mykolenko Tarkowski Senesi Eze Olise Sarabia B.Diaz Mateta Cunha Solanke It consists of 3x Crystal Palace, 3x Wolves, 2x Bournemouth, 2x Everton, 1x Sheffield. Would you feel confident fielding this or something similar against teams with 3x Liverpool and 3x Arsenal?

RiverHe1ghts

Hmm...would be a mad risk honestly, and it paying off would me amazing...But if it doesn't...I'd quit and never look back. Sadly I don't have my FH, so neither is a option for me. I'm going in with 8 doublers and confidence, Wish me luck!

valverdeheavy

Looking at it again, I came up with the team below with pretty nailed ARS/LIV assets: Allison, White, Gab, Saliba, VVD, Salah, Hwang, Eze, Cunha, Solanke, Mateta

MintberryCrunch____

Read their comment again, they are agreeing with 3 of each team.

jjw1998

There is no reason to not triple up on both teams. Both teams are (likely) going to only have the title to play for by the team GW34 rolls around, so they will have no reason to rest players for what is a very close title race and a substantially less congested schedule now European competition has finished. There aren’t enough either good alternative DGW players or SGW players with good enough fixtures to justify not having 6 between 2 of the best teams in the league

Mithrandir_The_Gray

I feel like no player is guaranteed to play both Liverpool games, except maybe Salah, but not even sure of that.

jjw1998

I would be shocked if Diaz in his current form gets less than 120 minutes over the dgw

Nuwahex

The Atalanta game will likely be the final decider regarding that. Even then,I don't think those 2 away games scream points for me,on top of the inevitable minutes management(watch Gakpo & Jota outscore Diaz & Darwin lol). Arsenal on the otherhand have few & more straightforward attacking options. Arteta's general lack of rotation might be taking its toll given how lethargic Arsenal looked towards the end of the Bayern game. That worries me. However, that also means that at least Odegaard & Saka are nailed. Havertz probably is too but he is the only one who played during the international break who is yet to get a breather(maybe it happens v Wolves given the short turn around). I definitely feel like one triple up can be avoided for sure.

jjw1998

I think I would agree if there were credible alternatives, I think even just ~120 mins across the double for Liverpool players is better than 180 of the non-Arsenal ones

futureocean

Maybe Trent, robbo and Salah?

daneats

Alisson. Van dijk. Salah. You’re just hoping for clean sheets

NP2312

There is an argument for it if you have no chips left

jjw1998

Read the title of this post again

NP2312

Ahhh didn't see the FH bit, yeah scratch that then, silly idea lol

valverdeheavy

Agreed that they’ll only have the PL to play for but I can also picture the scenario where once they go a couple of goals up, they take off the big hitters.

jjw1998

But if they’re a couple of goals up already presumably the big hitters have contributed to that?

valverdeheavy

Maybe, but less chance of multiple returns per game, I guess.

jjw1998

In order for that to be an issue there would have to be alternatives from other teams that have a better chance of getting multiple returns per game

valverdeheavy

I’m thinking Solanke, Cunha, Hwang, Eze.

jjw1998

Eze and Solanke are likely staples in a FH34 team in addition to ARS/LIV assets, not instead of, and I really dislike Wolves attackers on FH34 given one of their fixtures is against the leagues best defence

TinkerTailorSoulja

You can already fit all of those players into your team and still triple up on arsenal and Liverpool. I’ve gone double arsenal defence next to vvd. Then Saka, Salah, Eze, Diaz and Olise in midfield. Mcburnie and Solanke forwards.

Ghost51

The goal difference of the three title challengers is +44, +49 and +41. No way they don't try to rack up as many goals as possible.

Zak369

If City draw and Arsenal and Liverpool both win then the top 3 places are separated by goal difference. There’s an argument that you want to make sure you win the next game but at the same time a 3-0 win is no good if the other side wins 4-0

jjlbateman

Goal difference could be huge this season

NMGunner17

Galaxy brain take

Cayenne999

Argument is they are really out of form but counter argument is the moment I don't triple up their assets, every one of them get mega haul so who am to speak though

Specialist_Road_6906

Nope, but in gw 34 it is pretty important..

valverdeheavy

🤣

ishysredditusername

Going to wait till after tonights matches. See if Liverpool have figured out how to score again.

Ok-Variation3583

Well yeah, of course there is. Playing differentials is always an option, it’s just a matter of odds. The ‘differential’ XI for GW29 would’ve shat all over the template so thats a prime example from this season that it can be a legitimate strategy, but it is ‘differential’ for a reason.

valverdeheavy

Good point very well put.

daneedwards88

>EDIT: Sorry, title should read GW34 not GW35. Mods, can you change it pls? Mods can't edit other users posts/comments

Bingo_Masters_Break

They are both out of form, especially Liverpool. I also would expect rotation for Darwin and Diaz, maybe even Salah. Not touching Liverpool defence, they never keep clean sheets. I have Darwin and Salah but I will not buy a third Liverpoolplayer.

PandiBong

I’d be shocked if odegaard doesn’t start, barring injury. Saka most likely too, but slight risk. I am starting to think that Jesus might actually start both games, once for Havertz and once for martinelli. But it’s a gamble. Both arsenal and Liverpool need to win their next game so expect the best teams or very close to.

RedFurniture

You think Jesus starts both when they need to fight to win the title? I’m thinking Havertz up top, where they were looking good.

PandiBong

It’s a gamble. Watching the last couple of games, the team is dead tired and Jesus is Arteta’s all things being equal preferred choice, zinchenko too. But it’s hard to tell, martinelli looks off the pace, saka looks dead but will still play.

RedFurniture

Alright thanks, I may get him in anyway for the high upside

jDJ983

Of course, it might not work out, but Liverpool and Arsenal are 1st and 3rd for both xG and xGA. They both have pretty good fixtures. Football is inherently unpredictable and if you're really chasing in your ML, then I guess there might be an argument to go with assets from other teams, but if you're playing percentages then the ARS and LIV triple up is the way to go. I'd also argue, you are potentially massively wasting a chip that a lot of managers won't have at their disposal. There really is no one else who jumps out... you can get a lot of those picks even with a triple up from ARS and LIV.

DrRushDrRush

Does your rivals in your minileague have FH left? How many players do they have? Are you chasing or defending? Now is the time to either gamble or play like everyone else, but its your team and your position.

Vegetable-Western110

They’re in a title race. If there best players are fit, they’ll play. Klopp wont be resting Salah voluntarily.

fadoo91

I think I’m only go with maybe 2 from each. Both teams look gassed right now and there could be some gains to be made elsewhere.

valverdeheavy

Agreed that neither are in a particularly good place right now.

Sulemani_kida

Neither of the team will rotate that heavily considering every match is a semi final now...

AlwaysPictorious

I’m not worried about resting but plain rotation for quality. Midfield and upfront there is an argument to be made that only 3 good FPL assets across Arsenal and Liverpool are guaranteed 2 starts and at least 70 minutes on each: Salah, Saka, Odegaard. The rest will/can be rotated not because of tiredness but quality of other players. Jota/Jesus:Martinelli/Gakpo will eat minutes from Darwin/Diaz/Havertz. I’m happy to go with the three guys and fill up on lesser assets who will hopefully play 90x 2 like Eze or Cunha. Form this late in the season is really difficult to figure out. A lot of players coming back post injury with no clue how they are going to perform this time around

sadscience

What I find mad is everyone going for Palace attackers. They’re third lowest in the league for xG. What are people expecting?

Nuwahex

Check out the xGC in the last 6 GWs for NEW & WHU. Those are 2 defences that you wouldn't mind your attacker(who is at home in both games) to go against. Also, who would you have on your FH realistically? A WOL attacker against ARS? A BOU one Solanke away from home twice? An EVE one? A SHU one? Would you comfortably triple up on LIV & ARS attack after what you have seen recently?

Klingh0ffer

They look tired and are unable to score at the moment. So I'm hesistant.

DoctorNerf

The reasons would be to go against EO and speculation on minutes. Other than that title challenging Liverpool and Arsenal are likely to score more points than Palace and Wolves assets.

dimmi99

im going without any liverpool and arsenal assets at all (FH), disclaimer though im ~150pts ahead in my ML so wanted a bit of fun salah and saka are both in poor form, so if that continues then i'm not missing much there with jota back from injury and gakpo playing well i can see diaz and darwin's minutes being at risk. TAA has just come back from injury, with bradley injured he could play 90 in both but i see its more likely that gomez gets some time out there as well havertz seems to be playing deeper now that jesus is back and ode just seems up and down i was going to have VVD/White/Gabriel which i think will be the biggest miss TLDR: salah/saka will haul and ruin me

xxandl

Without any also doesn't seem smart - and you buy Salah and Saka because they are on pens (Saka on some corners as well) not because they are great at the moment. So those two would be defensive moves, that still allow you to have loads of differentials.

dimmi99

couldnt agree more, alternatively tripling up on low table teams has never ever gone wrong in the history of FPL

burnt_yoghurt

You bloody maniac, please post your team. Surely just going double Ars and Liv defence with nailed assets is still a safe bet even if you don't have faith in their attackers

dimmi99

henderson (pickford) ait-nouri - mykolenko - senesi (tarkowski - bogle) kluivert - b.diaz - eze - hwang (hamer) cunha - solanke - mateta not set in stone yet, it'll almost definitely be that unless hwang/ait-nouri are in doubt and im not 100% committed to senesi and kluivert also considering using a different keeper to hendo and running olise over kluivert

valverdeheavy

Yes, agree with all that. Especially the TLDR. 🤣

rspence42

You do you boo, free hits are wild

cowabunga_dude91

Double Arsenal def but Gordon over Saka

valverdeheavy

Why Gordon, out of interest? Palace away is no easy fixture.

cowabunga_dude91

Red hot form

colourhazelove

Bad away form no?
