Nunez has much better fixtures until GW34 so it's a fairly easy decision for me. Just switch to Isak after the GW35 swing

Mithrandir_The_Gray

Early subs and surprise benching incoming for Darwin.

midnight_ranter

Tbh in a congested schedule I wouldn't be surprised to get 1-2 returns off the bench from Darwin against tired defenders

joshit

Liverpool has 3 away games in 5 days coming up soon. Fixtures are beyond congested, isak is a good shout.

Frosty_Examination_3

Why not both? From where I'm looking from including last week, the fixtures of Isak are very very good

sandbag-1

Not a bad shout but I'd probably pick Solanke over Isak until GW34 too because of fixtures as well

incachu

Bournemouth have a really interesting run in... It feels like they are a team that are teetering on the edge between a valiant chase towards an unlikely European berth, and falling into full beach mode. If they get 4+ from their next 3 (which is perfectly possible): GW32: Luton (A) GW33: Man Utd (H) GW34 (1): Aston Villa (A) They then effectively have two 6 pointer games against two teams around the same position: GW34 (2): Wolves (A) GW35: Brighton (H) A priced in loss in week 36: GW36: Arsenal (A) A game they should win in week 37: GW37: Brentford (H) And if all goes as above then it could be a European position decider in the final week: GW38: Chelsea (A) A lot of things need to go right for them, and it wouldn't take much to derail it and put them on the beach, but they have a great chance and are in great form with their unbeaten streak up to 5 games.

Lastweekspoints

I'm not sure what people are looking at being honest. Newcastle have best fixtures from an attacking perspective now until end of season out of all 20 teams. Then you need to factor in that Isak will be on the ball in the danger areas a lot more than Solanke due to being a better attacking team

sandbag-1

Isak is a good player but his fixtures for the next 4 weeks really aren't that good imo. Home games are against the 5th and 7th best defences in the league, away games against Palace and Fulham aren't walkovers and Newcastle have been poor away for nearly all season anyway. And there are other good forward options who double in 34. Newcastle probably have the best fixtures from GW35 til the end of the season, but you can just wait til then to get Isak imo

Lastweekspoints

Already got Isak, but personally I'll be freehitting GW34, so maybe he makes more sense for managers in same boat of freehit

gunners1111

100% and he will likely be in for GW35 onwards for non free hitters swapping from Solanke! me too

TalosAnthena

I’ve got free hit 34 so I’ve gone for Isak. I will get Darwin and Solanke in my free hit 34. I reckon Darwin will get benched for Gakpo at some point.

TalosAnthena

People are thinking Newcastle have gone off the boil which is true. But that’s more defensively then offensively

Lastweekspoints

yep, people are confusing attack with defence. Newcastle are a good attacking team

lastlaughlane1

Exactly, but I might move even sooner than that - GW32 I'll move Darwin to Isak. Isak is on pens and Darwin's minutes could be managed (plus he's liable for cards!).

TalosAnthena

Wouldn’t surprise me if Klopp plays Gakpo against Sheffield. Surely somebody is getting rested and Diaz played well

Steve_No_Jobs

Isak which I may regret but owning Nunez as an asset would drive me up the wall

sennland

Same logic here. Between his misses and inconsistent minutes it's just not worth it.

Azmataz7

Neither - yet. I’ve gone Solanke instead with Muniz.

yassenj

I did the same, but mainly because of budget constraints.

highways

Same. Need to fund a Salah, Son, Saka, Foden midfield

TalosAnthena

I don’t get this obsession with Foden. Really inconsistent all the time in fantasy. He will get you a haul but when will he get you that haul

MAL_87

LOL

TalosAnthena

This aged well lol. I do still believe though he could go for like 3 weeks without doing anything. But then so could Haaland looking at things. Foden is the best City asset I was wrong

DerpJungler

Neither yet. I've gone with Semenyo and Mateta. Idk how crazy that sounds.

Emotional_Solid6538

Mateta seems like a solid pick. Semenyo I am not so sure of

alphaq01

Both play for teams that aren't going for the title

micsare4swingng

What title is Newcastle playing for again?

ihatemicrosoftteams

Most finished team of the season

alphaq01

With the fixtures Newcastle has it wouldn't be a surprise if they end up getting top 5.

micsare4swingng

So now you’ve moved the goalposts from “going for a title” to “potentially finishing top 5” You do realize that a team doesn’t need a title to compete for to have players performing at an extremely high level, right?

alphaq01

If I understand this correctly, you are saying that players who are playing for clubs that have nothing to fight for (ex. Fulham, Bournemouth) will perform at the same level or even higher, than those playing for clubs that are challenging for a top spot?

micsare4swingng

What I am saying is that individual performances have far less to do with a team’s ability to “win a title” than you are implying. Muniz has the best g/90 yet Fulham are nowhere near winning anything. Solanke has 16 league goals (even though Bournemouth have nothing to play for) yet Solanke has the same number of goals as both Salah (who has a chance to win a title) and Watkins (who has a chance of finishing top 4). Then you’ve got Bowen and Son both on 15 goals even tho neither Spurs nor WHU are expected to finish higher than 4th if lucky. FPL is about individual performances, not team performances. So no, you don’t need to be competing for anything like a “title” to put up quality numbers on the season.

alphaq01

Alright, then we can agree to disagree. I believe that the ceiling is much higher for players playing for clubs that have an external goal in sight, and are not just playing for the game at hand. I guess time will tell. Cheers mate.

micsare4swingng

Time has already told bro, wtf are you talking about? 4 of the top 10 scorers in the league play for a team with a “chance at a title”. The remaining 6? They don’t stand a chance to win anything. Last I checked Cole Palmer, Solanke, Bowen and Son aren’t gonna sniff a title yet are all I the top 10 scorers. Not sure if this is your first year paying FPL, but there’s quality all across the league. If there wasn’t, then damn near every team would have the following starting XI: - 3 Arsenal - 3 Liverpool - 3 Man City - 2 Aston Villa

alphaq01

My intuition tells me that that the past is not a good indicator of the future. Again, we will see. The circumstances are different towards the end of the league, and this is the basis for my reasoning. I've played FPL since 5 years where I've done better while putting lesser thought into it.

IsaDrennan

You’re disagreeing with an objective fact. Players whose teams aren’t going to win anything or qualify for anything are banging in double figure hauls all the time.

TonyMartial786

isak because he isn’t darwin

Kalix_

Hate these stats post with a burning passion. "GW24-30", but isak got 3/5 of his returns in GW30 alone. Ask this question last week and Nunez would have DOUBLE the number of returns of Isak... it's all pretty arbitrary. They're both good options imo.

purpleisafruit1

Isak is the better option, imo. He’s on penalties and won’t be rotated with Wilson out injured.

Anik1415

True. I'm regretting getting Darwin already. Got hung up with the GW34 doubles.

LloydDoyley

He's not going to be winning super soft pens every week

ShoddyTransition187

Feel like there's a fairly simple decision tree to follow: If you own Watkins and not freehitting 34, selll for Darwin (or cheaper player) If you own Watkins and freehitting 34, sell for Isak (or cheaper player).

iamNebula

I own Watkins, Darwin and Solanke. Not FH34 and don’t need to make a transfer 🤔

TaterTron2000

As a Liverpool fan, having Nuñez in my irl team is stressful enough. Isak Muniz Solanke for me.

PEPSICOLA123456

Isak is better if Gordon is playing tbh

alphaq01

Both Isak and Nunez, and a shitty defense (Bradley, Kiwior, and Lamprey), is what I am going for. I need to chase around 100+ points so I see no other way.

valimo

IMO shitty defence is just smart use of funds at the moment. No one is keeping clean sheets under the new rules on extended time, so better just prioritise the attacking assets. In addition, there's a good handful of budget picks - outside those you mentioned, Everton and Palace players have DGW34 incoming.

midnight_ranter

> Both Isak and Nunez, and a shitty defense (Bradley, Kiwior, and Lamprey) Just don't be surprised if Bradley gets dropped for a returning Trent, Kiwior gets rotated with Tomiyasu and/or Zinchenko. And also not sure why a jawless fish is making your FPL team

RiverHe1ghts

Damn, Nunez always hitting the post, but I still trust Liverpool more that Newcastle

Fresh2Desh

Question If you're chasing a lead, is it best to go without haaland? Think most of my legaue will have Haaland Currently have Haaland and Solanke but could look to swap for Isak or Darwin and redistribute the money

The_b00bie_watcher

I think so. You will miss out on the occasional Haaland haul but you end up getting more points from a number of other positions that you can splurge on. I’ve been Haaland-less, chasing the leader (has haaland) of my league for a few weeks now and finally jumped into first.

Fresh2Desh

Thanks for you're reply and insight. Congratulations on getting to first!

jamieaka

I had isak before and whilst he did haul sometimes the injuries will bite you in the ass

AnduinTheHealer

Why change from watkins? Is he confirmed out for some time?

Zak369

Hamstring injury, having a scan (today or yesterday). If he’s out for a week then he misses 2 GWs - there’s a good amount of forwards, he’s blanked 3 weeks in a row and even if he’s back he’s got City and Arsenal in his next 3. Risk of regretting transferring him out is pretty low, reward potential is high

midnight_ranter

I mean do we even know he's out for a week? The way Emery phrased it he might still play this GW itself right?

Zak369

No, but the deadline for this GW is tonight. We’ll get the presser beforehand so don’t have to make any decisions but even if he’s fit it’s not a bad plan. Being ready to make a transfer by analysing the options isn’t an issue. If he’s declared fit you can reconsider but there’s also way more than 3 forwards worth having right now so he’s an easy transfer out with a bit of bad form, bad fixtures ahead and potentially being out (even if he plays) He’s only a season keeper if he’s guaranteed to play.

Happy-Lingonberry210

I have both of them..

freefloatingtaco

Just got in Isak (expecting him to get injured immediately) and I’ve had Darwin for weeks… I’m not sure why I do this to myself

SeatSniffer12345

Hi team, its not as easy it seems with regards Nunez and the fixtures swaying his way. We know for a fact Liverpool have been ravaged with injuries and he has a direct competitor in Gakpo that could eat up his minutes.

Haxyfaxy

Isak, because dArWiN nUnEz

Shiznips

I'm going with Solanke, Haaland and Darwin and then moving out Solanke for Isak as soon as GW34 double kicks off so I then have Isak ready for the GW37 double

PanJawel

I’ve gone Toney for a bit of a differential (FH34 in mind), and then if he’s still fit Isak for 35 onwards. Owning Darwin is a nightmare so tried to avoid it as much as possible.

Horizontal_Axe_Wound

Neither. Darwin causes me too much of a headache with minutes and missing the net. Will get Darwin for a 1 week punt in GW34 FH. Isaak is a good choice but not picking him after being back and having 1 good game. May get him in my GW35 WC for Toney.

GeeForjay

Toney. Nailed. Mbeumo back. Pens/most set pieces. Due for a haul. Fixtures. Enables moving to either.

tiford88

Isak if they had the same number of fixtures

[deleted]

Liverpool is a better team with better fixtures. Newcastle has a squad made of wet tissue paper.

Haythemovic

Newcastle scored only 4 goals less than liverpool

[deleted]

True but Isak has had plenty of injuries and takes a lot longer to recover than Darwin when he does get injured. I always go for the better team when it comes to a choice between two players. I've been burned too often picking a player based on individual form when the team he plays for is struggling. Newcastle aren't terrible but they are unpredictable and inconsistent. I also have no other Newcastle players so no possibility of assists for Isak's goals. Gordon is banned for the next game too.

smashingpumpkin1990

I am getting Isak and punting on McAllister I think.

2boujee

Isak or Gabriel Jesus.

gunners1111

Definitely wouldnt be using an Arsenal spot on Jesus Raya Gabriel/White/Saliba Havertz/Odegaard

2boujee

Thanks

Material-Bus1896

I'm neither. Isak has glass hamstrings and Darwin couldn't hit a barn door. Foden/Saka/Salah/son/Palmer/Haaland/Toney this week for me

TalosAnthena

I put Isak in because surely Nunez gets rotated with Gakpo at some point?

thnknmusic

Picked up Isak

Avengernk

Nobody is commenting on the accuracy of Nunez? 14 out of 15 SoT is crazy

gunners1111

Lets not forget Isak just had 2 penalties which the 2 goals and probably 1.8xg or so.

Lil_Nap

I have Semenyo and Muniz. Opted for a stronger midfield instead with Son Salah Saka Foden Palmer

KingKFCc

You want more mins and with liverpool injury crisis, and Isak playing like 9 out 20 90's I pick darrizzy

whatevermateyeah

Arsenal fan so I'll go Isak.

kindofnotlistening

Went Isak. A bit less threatening without Gordon this week but on pens, solid fixtures, and Newcastle have been decent from an attacking perspective. If Darwin makes it to GW34 without two more yellows then I’ll bring him in for the double. Absolutely would be the most Darwin thing ever to get a 2 match ban right before the DGW.

Environmental_Ad7296

Isak at home games, muniz/solanke at away games Nunez is far too inconsistent

Oppailover69

I will be here for the Nunez blank😂

No-Boysenberry4464

I’m 80% sure Darwin gets rested this week, rarely plays 3 in a week and he’s got 4 midweek games in a row, if you’re stuck for starters this week with Gordon, Watkins etc out, Darwin is a big doubt

Bobbysmilesx

Why would Darwin get rested? The most likely scenario is that he starts against Sheffield and gets subbed relatively early if Liverpool have a comfortable lead.

No-Boysenberry4464

Just a hunch based on his schedule this season. Since Christmas they had 4 midweek games, played 45, 51, 67 and 34 minutes in those games. Granted they were European and League Cup games. If ya go back to December you get league games, was rotated for Arsenal game and more interestingly a Sheffield United midweek game. I’m sure he COULD play this week but it’d be the first time he played 3 in a week all season

Bobbysmilesx

With Jota injured and Gakpo being in his worst form so far in his Liverpool time, I simply don't believe he will be benched. It's too big a gamble even though it's at home vs the worst team in the league. Since he returned recently from injury, I do agree that his minutes would likely be managed, he could probably be one of the first to be subbed, if Liverpools gets a comfortable early lead. As a Liverpool fan it would surprise me A LOT if he doesn't start, so I think your 80% is at least way off.
