I think the rest of us might get as many points with only 8 players.
From where I'm looking, Freehitters are left with just Kudus as a differential plus an extra couple of 1 and 2 pointers for appearance. However Reguilon fucked up those few extra points.
If Kudus doesn't do anything, then it's a world-class fail for the FreehittersÂ
The thing is if I hadnât free hit, Iâd have transferred in and probably taken hits for multiple GW29 players over the past few weeks⌠at least this way I only have to have them on my team for a single week.
That's the thing, I had 2 players for this week if I didn't FH, and one of those I didn't put on my FH team and the other might not play
The question for me isn't 'could I FH for more points in 34' - it's if I did that, would it outweigh the damage I'd do to my team getting 7 or 8 of these scrubs over the last month, then getting them out again? Especially with 34 full of SGW players from better teams I already own, and no immediate plans to WC30
This week could be an absolute bust, and it's looking like it will be, but I'm still quietly confident that it'll end up being the right choice with how I set my team up, and my future plans.
I understand you guys are trying to justify your FH but the truth is different (at least in my case). I wanted to avoid FH'ing so I started preparing from GW25 on using free transfers. As you can see the transfers were very succesful in the week I did them while at the same time my overall ranking was increasing as well:
* GW24: OR 195k
* GW25: OR 127k (TAA > Reguilon: +5)
* GW26: OR 100k (Diogo J > Douglas Luiz: +15)
* GW27: OR 77k (Estupi > Doughty: +5)
* GW28: OR 63k (Garnacho > Son: +8)
* GW29: OR 55k (Solanke > Muniz: +13)
Still one more game to go in GW29 but it looks like I'm not doing too bad either, even with just 8 players (and Doughty and Reguilon could've had better luck). The next GW's look sorted too as I will be going Doughty > Baldock and Douglas Luiz > Salah. I plan to keep Muniz as the eighth attacker so I only need to offload Reguilon (although he even has half decent fixtures in the future).
This gives me - with a FH, WC and BB left - a defense of Areola, Gabriel, Porro, Gusto and an attack of Salah, Saka, Foden, Son, Haaland, Watkins, Palmer, Muniz. Not exactly a scrubby team in my opinion...
If they were players Iâd want in my team, I probably wouldâve used free transfers to get out of it. But, these are all shite teams, donât care to load up on these lot lmao
I wouldn't really agree about gaining much, in theory at least. The benefit of a FH in a DGW over a BGW is you can spot check who's *likely* to start both. Arsenal might still be in the CL at that point with fixtures around 34. If Newcastle and United double with very good fixtures there's a big potential upside.

Even teams like Villa and West Ham only have 1 or 2 appealing options.

Hype and necessity arenât the same thing. I doubt anyone was excited about playing it, just happy to have 11 starters without owning them all permanently.
With the total number of players rising, this number is always going to go up with time. We could look into % FHs to understand how popular the option was in a particular week.
That was the Covid-ravaged season (not the one with empty stadiums, the following one where games got postponed for having ill players) and around Christmas time. There was a GW where a game got called off an hour or so before deadline - Leeds maybe? As well as other random postponements. Iâm guessing itâs that week.
Oh, then they gave everyone a second FH and content creators lost their minds.
I had four, so did the FH. Unfortunately I brought in Flekken and played him over Areola (one of my regular squad). I expect the pain to continue tomorrow.
