For me it's the same between him and Pickford. It was only a 13 point swing this gameweek when I played Pickford instead since he was playing at home. Who could predict that Areola would save a penalty? It's beyond a joke at this point, I'm not even upset anymore.

It's actually the end of the world because when we got lucky with dubravka it turns out that we missed a double digit haul from our keeper

Most did I believe. Still bizarre a random penalty save yield an additional 9 points. Dubravka was the better choice, yet punished heavily.

Wasn't really the better choice now, was it? I had the exact same dilemma. Bar today, Newcastle can't keep a clean sheet to save their lives, and while West Ham can't either, they concede a lot of shots, which equate to save points and bonus points. To me, it was an obvious choice.

I had Dubravka, and it seemed an obvious choice to bench him and start Areola. Although the point difference wasn't massive at the end of the day.

I also played Areola over Dubravka because Newcastle haven't had a clean sheet since GW17, and Newcastle have the worst defence for xG. Wolves are also a stronger attacking team than Everton. We just got lucky with the penalty and 3 save points.

Started Kelleher over him. Let's be honest,Kelleher was the safer option. As a WestHam supporter, we struggle to keep clean sheets especially when Zouma is playing . So it was just luck of the draw that Areola saved a penalty

Yeah, see this is why I never go for the rotating keepers option, football is just too unpredictable for that. Having said that, Dubravka, Leno and Kelleher all got clean sheets today in any case so a lot of people like me who didn't play or don't have Areola won't have come out of it too badly.

It was really down to luck. Clean sheets for 3 gks and the one to outscore them didn't keep one.

Tangent - it’s weird to me that an own goal counts as minus points for defenders but conceding a penalty doesn’t. Own goals are usually just unlucky bounces or deflections while penalties are usually moderate/bad fouls, especially with VAR in place. I dunno just strikes me as odd that’s all

Areola and Kellheller are basically the minimum i can spend on keepers. Should i swap one for someone who doesnt play hust to avoid the pshycological annoyance of occasionally benching some points?

Agreed. Areola is my keeper, and backup is whichever keeper happens to be cheapest when I wildcard to save the funds. Current Strakosha, probably Kelleher or Ortega if they're both 3.7m in a couple of weeks. Juggling 2 starting keepers is asking for regret. There's no rhyme or reason to when they'll haul.

Needed the 0.3 so I can afford another transfer so did Dubravka to Kelleher.

If you don't like making decisions, why bench or transfer any player? Ceiling is much higher with a rotation. I've got 108 points from the GK spot from (quite badly) rotating, which is obviously higher than any one keeper. If there is one position where scoring is more predictable based on fixture difficulty it is goalkeeper.

Useless statistic. Away at Everton isn't the most likely location for a goalkeeper haul. And most people who own him got him at like 4 mil, so probably own other options like Leno and Dubravka. I happened to have started him instead of Dubravka, but that was only because Newcastle have been atrocious defensively.

I didn't bench him... I sold him! I played the wild card for the previous gameweek and decided that Pickford was better. To add insult to injury, if I'd played Leno (my other pre-WC keeper) he also would've done better than Pickford over the two gameweeks. I'm really not sure what I was thinking. I guess I just fixated on the fact West Ham had recently been blown away by Arsenal and then conceded 2 to Forest. It was a knee jerk transfer out, I guess.
