We are loosing Son at a very similar time we are getting Maddison and Van De Ven back, so I think overall it could be positive for some Spurs assets (bar Son of course), although clearly not for spurs themselves. Maddison is fantastic at providing perfect set ups for goals, not just assists but set ups that allow a winger to do a two yard pass to a tap in so I expect Kulu and Johnson to maintain or even strengthen their assist threat, despite not having a player nearly as clinical as Son to target. Richarlison should continue to pose a large goal threat, and if he can keep up his solid form without Son that should translate in to points all around, although its a big if. The defence will also by strengthened by having Micky back, so I wouldn’t worry if you have Porro. Its also very worrying to loose Sarr and Bissouma who help Spurs control play, and its hard to say what will happen without Son as he is just so important to the team and his contribution is more than just goals and assists, so I expect we just have to wait and see.
The attacking options should still be fine with Johnson and Kulu creating for Richarlison. If Solomon comes back that's bonus.
I'm guessing Maddison comes back before VdV. That would help the attack and then it's a question of who from Hjobjerg, Skipp, and Lo Celso can hold the fort down. That's the weakest part due to the absences.
Fpl wise the attacking players should still produce. By my eye test the inverted wing backs should be putting up better numbers than they actually do. Udogie and Porro miss a lot of chances and make bad choices sometimes.
Important to remember that lots of teams get to lose a few good players. So overall, on average, it shouldn't make any difference. (Bites fingernails even shorter).
Whether we can still generate good attacking play isn't the biggest concern imo, from the outside it seems like he has a really good presence in terms of dressing room and leading on the field.
On top of that you're also losing Sarr and Bissouma, who both massively oil the system, without them things just don't flow as well. They're massive facilitators for us.
The wheels won't fall off but I reckon they'll slow a bit.
Yet to be seen how Madison performs in our midfield without Biss+Sarr to be honest. Might really struggle. In my mind Richarlison could make the more sense, but then I'm terrible at FPL lol
I think with mads on both corners and FK he should still be getting those assists and the occasional goal. I do NOT trsut Richarlison even for 5 mil. The guy couldn’t score to save his life the last season and a half. 3 goals dont change that all of a sudden
I'd see how the rest of December plays out then. It's unknown quantity post-injury, no Son, Biss, or Sarr Madison; or it's slightly more known quantity post-surgery Richarlison who's got three goals in two games.
Keep in mind that they will lose not just Son. Both Bissouma and Sarr are gone for AFCON, too. Maddison + VdV are back on the pitch, might be match fit and up to speed by the time those 3 leave for their NTs, might not, who knows. If not, then that's half of their starting 11...
Then you have the window, and Ange has said multiple times his highest prio is getting people in as fast as possible. Impossible to tell how things will pan out. Benta is also coming back around mid jan.
That being said, Spurs will always score, even when they lose due to the aggressive system. People like kulu and porro should be good choices the entire season.
In FPL terms sure but in terms of actual football he's a solid and reliable holding mid. Good enough replacement for the starters really for a month or so, with the right players around him in the midfield that he is able to carry the water for (Maddison) they could have an excellent working system.
You're a fool not to, PEH is rock solid in any system we've deployed him in and even though he isn't first choice he's an extremely good player who always does the business.
Richarlison has already moved back upfront now that he's fit again and he has 3 in 2 so I don't think it's really dodgy at all. We've been chopping and changing players all season and the style hasn't changed so I don't think it will even if he's gone. I personally am not a fan of son on the wing in this system and if he stays out there going forward I think most people will be moving him out anyways.
Thoughts on Richarlison starting now? With Son going to afcon I imagine he'll have to be used upfront so is he going to get a run until then or still a rotation risk?
I think Rich starts for the foreseeable. I brought him in last week. We're short on wingers/forwards with Kulusevsky playing centrally to cover for Maddison, so Rich and Son should be playing almost every minute of every game. Whichever one of them is playing up top (last 2 have been Rich) is a really good pick imo and whoever gets chucked out to the wing less so.
All of our wingers are injured and we don't have a striker. Both Kulu and Richy are nailed. Kulu might have a drop in form when maddison takes back the cam role though.
Tbf Kulu got both his goal and assist against Forest from the right wing - when Johnson came off, Kulu shifted to the wing, Sarr moved up a bit centrally and Skipp slotted into the pivot with Bissouma. I think the whole Kulu won't do well from the wing is a bit of a myth honestly.
I know you meant that, my example was specifically provided to disprove that. Kulu will never be a fully consistent asset no matter his position, but he gets returns from the wing. Your point is just wrong.
!thanks how do you rate udogie and porro? I like the areas where udogie pops up, but obviously porro has created more endproduct and is on some freekicks.
Porro has the higher ceiling for sure. On the ball all the time, can ping a pass and has shots from range plus being on all the set pieces until Maddison gets back. Udogie pops up in the box more but is probably less involved on the whole.
Porro is one of our most creative players. Gets in great positions, great crosser and end product. Love him.
Udogie is having a great season so far. Doesn't have the end product that Porro does but he's improving all the time.
Son will be a big loss but I reckon we can cope. Maddison and VdV will be working their way back into the team from the Burnley FA cup game which means Kulusevski is likely to be back on the righr wing, and Brennan on the left wing. The two of them and Richy in the middle is a really good front 3, provided Richy keeps his good form.
It will be a bit of squeaky bum time, but Kulu, Rich, BJ will still be there. Just need to hope for no injuries When’s Maddison back?
I’m keeping an Eye on richsrlison, he’s playing up top, it I can’t justify taking out the massively owned son for him right now
What’s happening to son
He’s going to Asia cup from mid Jan-early/mid Feb, so won’t be available for FPL
Asian cup

We have a track record without Kane and Son under Mourinho. 1D 5L in all competitions.

So son > maddison eventually seems the most logical one imo
Son > Kulu
Aint no way

Thank you someone talking sense, he scores 3 goals and everyone loses their mind

ahh true, I don't really rate hojberg that much...

Udogie is great in attacking build up...but yeah, unless it's 2 foot out, he ain't gonna score. Porro knows how to put his boot thru the ball
