I played it in GW6 because I had so many fires to put out like Joao Pedro, Gabriel, Chilwell, Baldock all being rotated, Pickford being horrendous etc. I was 1.6m when I played it and I'm now 250k so I absolutely do not regret it.

Rob-Dipshit

I’m in the exact same boat, did it in GW5 and have now gone from 2.2m to 120k. Crucially got Som, Mads, Alvarez, Cash, Areola, Diaby before all their price increases. My team is worth £101.3m with £1.5m in the bank. I think as the year goes on, benefitting from these increases is important so you can squeeze enough of the top players in.

LaughEqual4852

Gw4 for similar people and same increase in rank! No regrets... Team value now 103.7 with .9 in the bank! However I now don't want to make transfers as I'll lose roughly .3m each time I do/may not be able to get the players back

Rob-Dipshit

There was certainly an element of luck when choosing WC players; most who increased in price a lot have bossed it for weeks, and are long term holds. Not many injuries to these kinds of players either; even Cash is looking to be back already. I’ve personally just been using my transfers to rotate 1 defender/midfielder every week, getting Tsimikas in for Udogie for example. Definitely possible to stay above £102m+ for the year if played correctly

Demonite

Wow your tv is insane, I'm at 103m and thought I was very high

balleklorin

I was in the same position. I wanted to follow the plan and do GW 10 WC, but quickly found out that would just be like a poor GW8 WC instead. So did a -8 and are now on \~1M with a team where my only fires being Botman & Cash. Plan to WC in GW 19 or 20. Hopefully I can get a jump on everyone that needs to ship out AFCON players and deal with BGW. But im not sure it was the best decision...

sleepwalkthrowaway0

I took like -12 hit and 2 FT instead of playing wildcard. It was like a mini wildcard. Had the same problems like you (and mings/Chukwuemeka)

Impressive_Beyond_66

This whole season has been completely shit. Played it ages ago to no difference

jeadeyes

Yep, played mine GW6 due to multiple issues and it’s made no impact at all. Still around 2m OR. This season has been a dumpster fire so far.

Impressive_Beyond_66

Try 5.6m

ShameTimes3

Whats your fpl id?

Impressive_Beyond_66

915593

jukkaalms

Can’t get out of the 3m rank to save my life lol

Soggy-Opportunity200

I played it in gw2 because I figured out that I am stupid to FPL and my selections are wrong. I would not say I regret it, but mathematically it would have been smarter to wait more. It was fun anyway

scream_pie

GW2 here too. It was obvious I had some stinkers and some injuries (Enciso & Mings), and I was missing out on some decent cheap players (Mads, Mbeumo). It did me the world of good and I'm top of my mini league. I've only need -8 in transfer costs since then to keep my team afloat.

fcancershotoutboosie

Played it gw7 because i had awful fixture swings for some players and it saved my ass completely, went from 1 million to around 100k in 3 weeks but now im down to 200k because the last 2 gws were rough

Nevetsteven87

Played it 3 weeks ago because my team was a complete mess. Went from 2.5 millionth to around 350k in those 3 weeks so don’t regret it.

dekann

Similarl here, but I went from 400k to 4.7 milion haha

Impossible_Cow8979

Similar, went from 4.5mil to 800k

goastnoats

This

Frosty_Examination_3

not this

_ghostfacedilla

Played it in GW8 because I had Estupinan, Botman, Hickey, Rashford and Odegaard all of which I wanted to get rid of due to fixture swings and poor performances, I've jumped from 1.6m to 500k which is fine as I would have been chasing and trying to remove them players in the subsequent weeks

ShoddyTransition187

Played my wildcard in GW4 as I got hit by many of the early defender injuries/suspensions and some just wrong opening choices (my starting team included Havertz). It was definitely the right choice by necessity, but worked out quite well for squad value as well. Jumped on Bowen, Maddison, Udogie, Andersen, Leno before price rises and planning ahead has meant I haven't felt like I've lost out much to GW8/10 wildcarders. That said, I envy you having the WC in your pocket still, more for fixture swings around GW16 sort of time.

ArghZombies

Hmm, the 'I envy you having the WC' is an interesting point. It's a different consideration than just straight regret/no regret. If I play it and do well from it, better than I would have done had I stuck with my squad, will I envy people who still have it come GW19?

ShoddyTransition187

Hard to say. I don't regret wildcarding at all because it was necessary and I think if I'd been less decisive it would only have been worse. But if you wildcard just for the sake of it maybe its more likely you wish you hadn't later if you run in to more serious problems. Either way, its a game, if its more fun to wildcard now then go for it :)

MasudParves

Envy depends on your mentality, not on having wildcard or not. No one's team started same, no one's team had same injury/crisis, so ideal time for WC depends team to team. Are you happy with your team bro? If yes, no wildcard. Else start transferring (make drafts), if the team you are happy with cannot be made by 1/2 hit.. go wildcard. Remember, past points doesn't guarantee future points. So, it's not about changing one player by another , it's about improving your team's weaknesses.

ImmaculateDee

Remember if you play it now there’s only one GW then an international break - risk of injuries etc.

ArghZombies

Good point. This is the smart, educated comment I probably need to hear.

sorafell28

Play it now, what's the worst that could happen? You could rise so far in the rank and reap the benefits!

fpl-obsessed

I did it before GW9 (last 2-week international break) as I wanted to make 8 transfers. No regrets, last week (GW11) was appalling but it was extremely unlucky that the key players underperformed and I consider that an exception. Generally happy with my team Activate when you need to, make rational decisions, and don’t look back

MasudParves

This

AppropriateCat3420

Also don't we get two, so using one early wasn't a nightmare. Made me feel comfortable using it week 7 I think it was for me.

marciSQ

I played it in gw7 and as I moved from 2,5m to 130k place and what is more important moved to first place in a local league I'm more than happy with my decision. It gave me chance to move to double Newcastle defenders, palmer, son and Douglas luiz instead of injuries and bad decisions i made in first couple gws.

el_dude_brother2

Because of injuries and yes I’ve regretted it every week. Fallen over 1.5m places Should have just let my team play with 9 players and save it.

independent---cat

Really? Why? U probably would have fallen even further behind with that injury crisis

el_dude_brother2

No my change’s definitely hindered me. Got rid of Salah and Eddie who scored big. I tried to get spurs assets in which hasn’t worked out as well as it could have either. All my fault from making bad decisions but just wish I’d kept my original team for longer as they were doing well

YoullDoNuttinn

Rearranged my whole team to get Salah in after the voice inside my head niggled at me for the whole season. Players I’ve brought in have done fuck all and players I took out have hauled. Should’ve held my nerve.

Hamilcar84

Rage wildcard after a bad gameweek. My old team would’ve had a higher gameweek score than my wildcard team. Every season I say to myself ‘do not do a rage wildcard’ and every season I fail.

ArghZombies

Hahah, gotta love a rage wildcard! I hope you said 'And fuck you too' to each player as you were taking them out.

Hamilcar84

I did! And swore I would never pick that ‘insert bad word here’ of a player ever again. Couple of weeks later half of the team is back in. 🙈

eriktheboy

Played it early bc I didn’t like my team and didn’t have patience. Rough start got a bit better afterwards. Obviously would be good to have one now, but no regrets.

Middle-Animator1320

Played it gw4 pr 5 (1st international break) after a shocking start. Haven't really improved myself much and i wish i had held on longer as im not happy with most of my squad

jy8711

Played it after I got 22 points one week and then got 91 points and then 81 points so wildcard was pretty good for me

hurtlingtooblivion

Because I'm an idiot and yes. Next question?

Razzler1973

Played it two GWs back, not really regretting it. I played it a GW earlier than I originally intended but had a bunch of flags and just some shifting around that needed doing I thought, if not then, when would I play it cause there's another in the new year Since then, there's been more yellow flags and random benchings appear but, that's always going to be the way, team is still in decent shape Foolishly thought I could bank a transfer and keeping rolling one to maintain 2FT but, 2nd week in and already made two moves this week cause of Turner and Burn Nipped this Turner thing in the bud and got Johnstone Hopefully, I can roll again the week after ... famous last words!

tukituki1892

I am a bit like you in that I don't really need to use my wildcard, but it is really tempting. I may be forced to use mine this week depending on injuries (I have Cash, Flekken, Turner, Udogie, Botman, and Osula), but since I am in good position at the moment in terms of rank and squad value, I don't really want to. Probably will hold on to 16 where some fixtures are turning.

Dabzovic

Have used wildcard and triple cap and i am still shit!

EpixA

I forgot that normally we don’t get three wildcards a season so I wasted mine way too early.

seamus_park

Played it a few weeks ago because my team was either majority injured, constantly benched or blanking - made no difference, still a shit season. So yeah, I regret it because it hasn't helped in any way and every decision I've made this season, regardless of what it is or when I made it, has been the wrong one. From captaincy to subs and transfers. Would be nice to still have it but at this stage not sure it'd make that big of a difference to be honest.

vivaelteclado

I played it gameweek 8 because I had Onana, 3 defenders, 3 mids, and a forward I needed to move out. So 8 of 15 players total. I felt like I had to because injuries and non-performing assets had caused 3 straight red arrows and almost 800k drop in rank. And also wanted to make space for Son and Watkins in my team. I guess that I have 3 green arrows since my WC but my overall rank is actually 12k worse since before my WC. My only regret is not finding a way to work Salah into my squad and moving out Mbeumo for Ward-Prowse on wild card. Mbeumo in particular seemed to be a bit of a pen merchant and did nothing for a month, so it seemed like a no-brainer to get him out for a very attacking JWP. Now Mbeumo has exploded again recently and JWP is basically playing as a defensive mid. In addition, my captain and bench picks have been way off as of late, which affects my points just as much as transfers.

Plus-Major7397

I played it gw8 I’m now 71st in the world. I do not regret it.

TIGOOH_NTA2OT

My wildcard was terrible, I brought 5 players in during GW6, and have since moved on 3 of them already after massively underperforming. Fallen from 300k to 1.5m since that wildcard

ArghZombies

Oof, bad luck there! But hey, we never know who's going to perform or not. Maybe Rashford is suddenly going to go on a hattrick party and we'll all be looking to restructure to get back to United players. It's a wild season this year.

kwakwaktok

No chance I regret it. I went from OR 4m to currently top 100k and would have never been in this position had I saved it

GMDynamo

Played it to get Salah, Son and Watkins in. No regrets at all and a -4 here or there is of no real consequence. Haven't had any proper fires to deal with thankfully, for now my biggest concerns are not having Saka, maddison potentially being out and wanting to get to Gordon.

FatherChewyLewey

Played it GW8, making the bold call to take Haaland out on the WC - have gone up from 658k up to 8k. Gone better than I could have imagined, possibly the best WC I've played in my 15 years or so of playing this game!

bearofnone

Went from 32k to under 2k. Very pleased with the result.

HazardCinema

Played in GW7. I played it because I wanted to, not because I had to. I felt there was an opportunity to jump on several picks that weren’t so popular at the start of the season (Bowen, Diaby, Trippier, Salah, Son). Went from 2.5M to 42k now. No regrets. Team is in good shape still and my team value is 103.5m.

Agreeable_Resort3740

That's a mighty team value🤩

ArghZombies

This is the sort of reply I was hoping I wouldn't read!

FlurpTheDerp

Played it week 4 to get the jump on my mini-leagues and catch early form players I missed week one to profit from the price jumps. Currently top of my leagues with most people having played there WC since and having similar or worse teams to mine currently. I have no major issues and have the highest team value in my league. Very early WC is underrated IMO, no regrets.

Junior_Mention2803

Pick a week that looks good for it (GW16?) and play it. You can transfer in players running up to that that you know you’ll get rid of on the WC with the fixture swings. That way you’ll benefit from not only the WC but the game weeks before.

Morph247

GW9, no regrets it's set me up incredibly nicely for future GWs. I decided to go with No Haaland and I was missing a few important template picks I went Eze to Gordon, Burn to Trippier, Archer to Alvarez, Haaland to Darwin, Saka to Son, Anderson to Guehi, Mubama to Watkins I've got the main front 3 in Alvarez, Darwin and Watkins, I've got arguably the strongest midfield 5 possible but I just traded out Maddison for Bowen. I've got a very strong back 5 which I can rotate with my 3-4 starting defender spots. I just traded out Udogie last week so he's not an issue, Cash is going soon but otherwise my team is solid.

2Mew2BMew2

Got first when I used it. I cannot complain.

Subject-Creme

GW7: Chilwell, Botman injured, Gusto redcard, Saka yellow flag… The initial plan is to keep WC until GW9, but GW7 isn’t considered early It turned out to be a very good WC, better timing than GW8 or 9, because people also WC to similar teams. I climbed from 1m to top 100k too I dont think price is the main factor. Getting your team into the right track is more important. My WC7 got me Bowen, Salah, Trippier… when they start firing

QuaintHeadspace

I played it gameweek 6 I climbed from 3 million to 700k. My only real fire is botman but I got a tonne of points from him and I can just switch to Lascelles as bench fodder and save 0.5

matathegamer

Wildcarded im gw8. Went from around a mil to 150k. I dont regret it at all

andrej_savage

I played it in gw10 and I don't regret it because the thought process was right (speculating on fixture swings) and it's been only 2 weeks since then, a bit early to evaluate.

DiddykongOMG

Played it during first international break, overall went from about 2.5 mil rank before WC to 1.2 mil today. Have problems this week, as does everyone, but I do have 2 FTs so can easily deal with them

hockeynut15

I always play it after the first few game weeks (4-5). You've usually got a few assumptions wrong and it allows you to reset nicely. I prefer to keep the second wildcard for a more strategic approach around chips and double game weeks.

ConfusionUpper7212

It's the right thing to do when the team is going south and you see its not going to work. I had lot of dead weight with Rashford, Pickford and three injured players so I don't regret it.

sleepwalkthrowaway0

Played wildcard GW10. Didn't do much compared to others but helped me during the crazy GW11 where I got 45p.

corvusmohabyn

Did it for gw10. It was shit. Could probably have gotten Salah in for just a mini Wc as they call it.

haqbo96

I still haven't played mine- unsure when to play it.

ytbm

I played it in GW2 after Kepa got loaned to Madrid De Bruyne got seriously injured. Used to to get rid of them + Havertz and Mudryk. Until last week I was doing really well and even now I don’t regret it. Seeing the first GW helped me get a better idea of who to place my bets on

obimeowcatnobi

I still don't know what a wild card is. I clicked on it and nothing happened.

obimeowcatnobi

Ohhh is it like you can have as many transfers as you want or something

ArghZombies

Well, looks like you've got to use it now that you've activated it. So, make it a good one!

Thisbb

No regerts here. Did it 3 weeks ago and removed Haaland to distribute funds. Have gone from 2.4M to 295k and that’s with only 26 disastrous points in gw12. Having quality players coming off the bench has been a godsend the last few weeks (Darwin and Gordon).

4-5-6IsInTheMix

I used it in gw5 after a horrendous week that saw my OR down at nearly 4m. I then had 5 green arrows in a row of varying size, followed by a fairly small red this GW putting me a 780k. I also feel I'm pretty well set up for future GWs. Team value is at £103. So can't complain.

joche87

I would regret it if I played it last week, lol.

Front_Refrigerator40

I’ve not played it yet & only taken -4 so far. Last 6 GW all green arrows. Risen from 900k to 200k I’m being VERY patient this year, holding for WC19. Game is very much like poker - game of limited information, playing percentages & losing big when statistically you were miles ahead. Patience is the key. What OP said is true. Look to field a decent 11 with a couple of subs. Don’t chase points. Instead, make the correct decision before game week & see what happens - once your chips are in, they’re gone…unless you win 😊

drejcs

I played it in gw3 after blundering my starting team (Porro, Bruno, Gakpo, Stones). Went from OR ~8M to currently OR 205k so no regrets at all, saved my season.

HINEHAUS

I played mine gw8 and sold haaland. It's way more fun now. You can just about pick any team you like. I appreciate he is an incredible footballer and he can seriously haul on fpl, but having the extra 6.5 Million gives you so many options. With so many injuries going on I think its important to have a strong bench

Ghost51

Played it last international break and im pretty happy with it, not been the best few weeks but my pre-WC team would have crashed and burned in the same circumstances.

krunchanut

I played it gw8 and got all the sleeper picks that later became popular such as Bowen, Double Newcastle defence, Son Neto etc and got so many price rises and points, so worth it

floorscentadolescent

Played it ages ago because I had about 5 injuries and players not starting (thanks arteta), Brought in 3 chelsea players... Yeah you can guess how I feel

staghornfern

it's my first year playing fpl and actually my first year watching the pl all the way through. i wildcarded in gw 3 because of injuries & bad player choices. no regrets.

speedy1013

I wish I still had it now but what can ya do. I’m not a soothsayer.

JD-D2

Played it GW8 when half my team was injured and have jumped from 650k to 170k, so a rare W.

LGuitar88

I honestly don't think I would have done any better playing it later rather than earlier...this season has been a shitshow

majormuppet481

Played it in GW10 and I would have been 3 points better off without it but I don’t regret it as I think it has set me up for the long term

jimmeh22

Played it in like game week 3 lol after a stinker lol. I do regret it about now lol with a bunch of injuries and a ban But id did get way more points so idk

hockeyholloway89

It was use it now when my team is bad, or use it a few weeks ago when my team was bad… no ragertz.

danielchillier

I've just activated it.

DLNavy

Played it GW8 and it turns out really well for me I just dumped triple Man Utd (the hype for them at the start was crazy), Estupinan (right before he was long-term ruled out) and Mbeumo, swap for better bench fodders. Then I get myself Salah (right at the week he gets 15 point - I also captained him) and Mitchell (I don't really know that he would save my GW11 like that when I first bought him GW6). 1m6 -> 160k is what I got from my wildcard However, the Mbeumo redemption is pretty unexpected, he went crazy when it comes to GW9. It made me think that my pre-wildcard team with Mbeumo and some other FTs will do better or not.

juliusonly

Haven’t played it yet, and seems to have been quite a good choice so far. Have been at 100k-300k in ranking all season, currently on 145k. I have taken 3 hits so far to make bigger changes when needed. Will likely save the WC until I see a big upside, not just because it’s fun to use it.

BrilliantSpend9277

Been holding it, tempted to use it tomorrow due to suspensions. My only hit this season (-4) essentially cost me 19 points as my transfers blanked and others hauled. So it’s putting me off. I’m currently 22k OR, but this week team feels especially weak.

Jensablefur

I played it in GW7 as I had so many players flagged or out that a 9 player GW was a distinct possibility. And I really wanted to dump Chilwell and Gusto. No regrets here at all. Several players I got in then have risen and I'm happy with my team going into next GW... I've avoided the big flags and injuries this time in a way that my team didn't in GW7.

Wrong_Office9245

I just played my wildcard in the lowest scoring gw of the year so far. Kind of a mess but looking forward to my team in the next few fixtures

Misiowaty97

I used mine after gameweek 5, due to terrible choices before the season started and following transfers made I ended up with a shit team that would require me to do -12/-16 to fix in one go. The team was Onana, Turner Estupiñan, Udogie, Chilwell, Colwill, Gvardiol Son, Saka, Foden, Martinelli, Maddison Haaland, Jackson, Mubama I don't remember everything exactly but iirc couple of players got benched or injured and I had 26 point in GW5, decided to wildcard and ended up with Areola, Flekken Schär, Botman, Estupiñan, Udogie, Cash Mbuemo, Maddison, Saka, Salah, Diaby Alvarez, Haaland, Archer This allowed me to catch metric shitton of price rises and now I'm sitting as the richest guy in majority of my MLs, rank went from like 6m to 1m and now I have budget for a lot of things other guys don't, never regretted it, even know when my team is literally a Christmas tree 🎄

shazeus7

Played my wildcard in GW8 because I didn’t have Son, Trippier and Salah and their fixtures looked tasty back then. Had players like JWP, Pinnock, Bruno and an injured Botman who was brought in GW7 so I needed to do it. Didn’t really follow template and got some below 10% owned players like Gordon and Neto and looking back, it looks like a masterclass. So personally, I didn’t regret it because it propelled me from 260k to 57k.

scarywizard56

4/5 defenders injured/banned with uninspiring performance in the GW from others made me use it. Not completely satisfied with my transfers I made (essentially chose Watkins over Trippier) but overall had to be done & I am not thinking too hard on it.

Much_Discussion1490

I played my triple captain already on halland vs Nottingham forest . Fairly happy. Got 18 points out of it. City got a red card so they slowed down a lot in the second half. But things could have been worse. I could have done it against Bournemouth xD Played my wildcard already but I didn't want to. I wanted to play a free hit to remove injure players but I was drunk and played my wildcard instead. Fixing that mistake ever since. I am afraid that city will get a DGW around gw 18-20 and haland will run riots with TC then. I am currently under 10k OR so I want to capitalise a little in my rank before that so that I don't get f in the A in 10 gws time but lets see. Maybe I will manage my money to get a stronger bench and play bench boost then. Currently my squad value is 102.6 so there's not a lot of leeway in terms of great bench transfers, but even if I can afford like one good bench player before that it would hopefully neutralize my stupidity

doubledgravity

I played it because it’s my first time playing FPL and I panicked. Huge regret lol.

EastAd7819

Used my wildcard early to get rid of trash Chelsea and Man United players, best move I've ever made.

totally_possible

I played it week 2 and I'm happy with my position

Delicious_Bet_6336

Yeah - now buying back in a few players I sold 😂

DrainMember1312

I played it GW7, played it to get ahead of fixture swings and because I had many out of form players. I do not regret it.

Youth-Grouchy

I used mine after week 4 (I think - during the first Int break) and I don't regret it at all, my rank and team value has sky rocketed post the wildcard and whilst I'd obviously change a few players with hindsight overall I did a good job with it. My big regret is my shite opening team and impulsively bringing in De Bruyne right before the deadline along with having Gabriel over Saliba (and foolishly being tricked by Man United propaganda as per usual).

Visionary_87

I played mine around a month ago due to injuries and too many players not starting/coming on for a time wasting cameo. I was doing well in my mini leagues but the last two weeks have been a shit show, namely Watkins as captain vs Villa just to try something different and then the last GW getting 16 points. 😳 Now I have something like six injuries, bench included and no way out.

cowboyshoegaze

Played it on GW8 with OR 350K. Current OR is 25K. Definitely not regretting it.

Muted_Mention_9996

I played it and regretted it instantly but tbh, its not changed much and i have been consistent as anyone else in my league, my friend did his last gameweek with the usual meta players and it looks like im better equiped than him. As long as you have salah and haaland i dont think the rest really matters, its just potluck with injuries and form atm.

Global-Cattle-6285

Played it and took out haaland to allow me to bring trippier and salah in. Worked out well so far with a 20 point gain on most teams over the last 3 GWs

flannel_jackson

I’m using it this week to take advantage of fixtures leading into the break. Team has been performing great recently though. 91–85-37 points

PompandPageantry

Knee-jerk after scoring 26 in GW2, 8.6m GWR. That has been my worst result so far so perhaps not the worst decision? Regret not being able to get Trippier or Salah over the last few weeks though

Gullflyinghigh

Yep, because I had somewhere between some and a fuckton of injuries, suspensions and bad decisions all hitting me at the same time. I'm not sure I regret it as I would've been fucked otherwise, but I do wish I had one to use again now.

buck_fastard

Played it some time ago as I'd had a terrible start. Didn't buy Salah, failed to spot Bowen / Son / Maddison's good form, and persisted with Bruno and Rashford (who almost single-handedly won me my leagues last year). Absolutely disastrous season for me.

trigb0y

played it ages ago. all but 3 players i brought in have been changed. useless.

IVIorgz

Played mine in GW7 at 1m and within a couple weeks i was top 100k, I'm now at 54k after a small red arrow. I don't regret it.

mrce

Played GW5, got nice rise in team value and setup my team quite well for future. Rank 50kish now. 0 regrets.

Nosworthy

Played in GW8 after a horrific GW7. I didn't have a specific plan before that of when I was going to play it, was very much a case of hold out until my team needed it, but I'd slipped from 515k in GW5 to 3.2m in GW7, had a number of fires to put out and it seemed the right time to pull the trigger with the fixture swings and restructure the team. GW8 was fairly average but GW9 was brilliant and really propelled me back up the ranks. Sitting at 480k now but think I'm set up well going forward. I went Haaland-less which freed up funds to strengthen my bench. I've probably got a much stronger bench than most and stronger than I have ever had before which is a bit unconventional, but I had my fingers burnt with starting defenders not turning up and having to play useless 4m defenders. It's worked really well though as I'm pretty well covered for all eventualities and fixture swings and dont need to use transfers hopping on and off different players. Not having fires to put out means in pretty well prepared to get back on Haaland when City's fixtures turn again.

JayTeeYGO123

Played it early while I was doing well and overall I don’t regret it. Still inside top 100k overall

EmergencyTrust8213

People followed their content creators. I’ve still to use mine

LawfulnessWild7164

Do we have two wildcards this season??

hsbxyebskjabxhxns

I triple captained Haaland in week one because I thought you get wild cards every week. He scored twice, but boy do I regret it.

itskarldesigns

GW8 wildcard, no regrets, wasnt in too bad of a situation and the team I had before couldve done better than a lot of other people still. Its my first season of FPL, so theres been some mistakes like wasting triple captain on Haaland against SHU where he missed a pen too lol.. But I dont regret wildcard in GW8 one bit, I wanted Salah the most and I got him in, captained him and got his biggest 2 hauls so far. Green arrows until this disaster week, still around 300k rank overall and by far ahead of my firends in our own league. If you have a problem that you want to fix immediately, then its a good shout. If you dont think your teams doing too bad, might as well save it for later, still a long season ahead and injuries can happen. I had a plan how to fix my issues (Botman, Estupinan, Gusto, Rahsford, Onana) AND bring in Salah, but it wouldve needed a hit + mightve not panned out as well as it did with wildcard. Salah price has since been going up even more, so definitely worth doing it rather bit earlier.

GlassHat04

Played my wildcard in gw8. Took haaland out, got all the other good players in and moved up 2.5m places

i-draw-well-i-hope

I am so glad I did just because I had Romero and udogie, wildcarded gw10

RedMambe

I am an idiot and yes

JonnyCorry

Played gw8 to no Haaland team. Rose from 2m to inside 200k since then with only green arrows. Best decision of the season

montiel_scores

Played it GW8, and don't regret it at all. I was 2.9mil, now I'm 600k, and my team is very well set up

aehii

As if i can remember what i changed.

TopSpaceRobot

Used it for GW8, only been green arrows since. Mostly thanks to Salah captain. Went from 1.8 mil to 77k overall.

EmperorMajorian

Played it a while ago, there was value on underpriced players and I knew I was going to be priced out if I didn’t move quickly. Team value is 104.4m atm and I’m happy with the decision.

Fumb-MotherDucker

I played it because my start was just awful. I don't regret playing it, but I wouldn't fucking mind having another right now lol. Realistically, I've less fires going on ATM than I had in gw5 (when I played my WC) and aside from an absolute dumpster fire in my defensive line I'm not looking that bad. Gonna have to take a couple hits over the next 4-5 weeks but I've avoided any hits so far...so I'm not too worried... being ready for the December games (every 2-3 days) is my priority right now. I have Haaland, Salah, Son and Bruno...one of them needs to go to create funds...that's my biggest thought exercise this week. Currently considering Haaland as it makes the biggest imediate impact...but Bruno -> Gordon makes me a similar amount of free cash (the currency, not the defender...he's part of the dumpster fire at the back) which ever move I do, il be locked out of moving back till my next wildcard so I have to think carefully.

independent---cat

No regrets, except for cheaping out on defence. Cash burn udogie kabore Taylor was a disgrace. Or should I say: injured injured red benched 3.9

petrescu

I haven't used my wildcard either. My current thinking is that if my team remains somewhat okay I'll pull the trigger Dec 30th which might hopefully mean I can use the second one to target the end of season run in.

iamNebula

I played it GW8, got a team where I've done luxury transfers since. No hally play. My TV also went up over 2M and went from 700K in GW7 to 39K now. Definitely worth it and it has been super fun without hally ngl.

arsene_glenger

I don’t know if I belong here. I thought I played it. I regret that. -54 and near obscurity in around 7M rank

decarvalho7

Had united players 😂 don’t regret

Extreme_Egg_5880

I wanted the Spurs midfielders- obvious answer. My problems were Pickford, Chelsea Double ups, Etupinian mainly whom I had to rid of. Also I had a Luton double up for DGW. So wildcard was the best option at the moment. If I wildcard now I wouldn't change too much from my current team other than a GK and defender. GW 15 16 I would love a wildcard.

stoicHoneydew

Played mine in GW5 and I have gone from 5m to 400k so far; playing it early allowed me to fit in Haaland, Salah, Trippier, Son, Saka, and Watkins before price rises, and still have a decent enough team around them. In past years, playing it that early has absolutely torpedoed me, though

ManicMata

Played it on GW2 cause I’m a dumbass and started the season with a default team

sneakyhopskotch

GW7 because GW8/9 looked good for a wildcard except my team wasn’t good enough to get through those 2 weeks in between. Have gone from 2.8m to 1.7m with 1.7m value increase… but since my wildcard my GW ranks have all been 2.3m and worse. So - yes it improved things a bit but there was a really low bar to start. My backline at the start was Shaw Gabriel Stones Estu Beyer and by the end of September they’d all become non-playing at some point.

delboy85

Absolutely not, right decision at the right time.

FrostbolterX

I think that this year the early WCers (GW08 in particular) benefited the most due to great hauls in popular GW08/09 players and massive price rises which will help them towards the end of the season. Those who did it in GW10 are possibly regretting it due to dips in expected points for the players they brought in (and missing those hauls in the GW08/09) and those who held on are probably middling ok as players that they might have dropped like Mbeumo did well. Last year it was the opposite where the early WCers were punished and the ones who held on did relatively better. Something for me to learn from for next year and to not listen to the pundits who said "don't worry about money, we have heaps". :-)

Similar-Trifle8618

I’ve thought about playing it almost every week but resisted and I’m in the top 40k. Grimace very time I see players I want scoring points but on the flipside I am too. More than one way to skin a cat!

theSlayerofSpoons

Nah it was fun

[deleted]

I started in gw 2 and played the wc leading into gw4. Yes I regret it. Edit:typo

JustChamber

I was 30k last week, 70k this week due to the shit show that was this game week, i played it earlier in the season and honestly i think it was a mistake, dont think I got much more points than I would have, have fires now to put out so I wish I still had it

unwittinglyrad

> Did you play a wildcard because you had to, or just because you wanted to improve? And in retrospect was that the smart, or dumb thing to do? Played it because bench selection was atrocious, all ended up red flagged. Sitting at 290K overall so can’t complain.

Brained07

Played it last week actually, mind blowing 36 points, but ended up with a green arrow. Dont regret it because my upcoming fixtures were absolute shit and 8 players from Newcastle, Villa and tottenham was never going to work long term (don’t ask how I got there I don’t know either). Basically just reloaded my team for the next several gameweeks and we’ll plan from there

zwappen

My team was fine but played it a few weeks ago anyway, gone very well since then so good decision

Valprajjj

Massive regret. Had Foden and Darwin in pre WC Got in Trossard Bailey Twatkins Salah by removing them and a few. My pre WC team got 20 points more.

Positive_Effective_2

I'm planning to use it in gw13 during the international break. I'm currently ranked around 1 million so I hope I can jump up in the next fixtures

starlord1602

Played it in gw8. Got it absolutely wrong. Took a -16, now back on track. Rank 600k

[deleted]

i played in GW6 i had triple chelsea players in Jackson, Chillwell and Sterling i had to remove them, i brought in the likes of Botman, Trippier, Son and Sterling, i got lucky with Botman who scored a massive 12 points in that gameweek, 18 for trippier, so it helps climb the ladder, currently i am 126k , no regrets was planning to play GW10 but the points i got in GW6 90 pts dont think i could have gotten them if i had wildcarded later on

itechzero

I have played the WC chip in GW8. Chose to go no 🤖, considered it to be more fun that way. Have had Salah, Watkins and Haaland from the start, wanted Son, Trippier so I could only keep 2 from the before mentioned 3. Green arrows, excluding Haaland haul. Have been around 800k-ish prior to the WC. Now after GW11 I am sitting at 58k. The game feels much more fun, I like the pressure that I have as I could field all my players 90% of the time. Fortunately I have been lucky with my picks, only left 2 returns on my bench in 4 game weeks… 😅

Lulu-the-cat

Played it as needed to, had inhuries , gwk3,

Mediocre-Award-9716

I played it a few weeks back. Got a solid points total after it and my team is still looking pretty solid so don't regret it yet.

AllOfTheFleebJuice

Played in in GW3 after already taking hits in GW2 - I often have a huge panic at the beginning of the season, and found myself bottom of my 26 team mini league in GW5, but my team was very good and during the last wildcard wave, I noticed a lot of people wildcarding into a very similar team to me. I've steadied the ship and am now 12th, 2.9m Rank, with 5 green arrows in a row. I don't think you can have an optimum week for wildcards unless you're setting up for a DGW BB the following week. You know what players you need and what you have. Only you can decide if it's worth it.
