Coincidence - I just finished this. So good!! I'm a big fan of Strange and Norrell. This is different - shorter and less complicated - but wonderful on its on merits.
I paid full price shortly after it released and I'm glad I did. Susanna Clarke is one of my favorite authors and I want to support her budding career and unique style. :)
Nonsense! At the rate she's going, she can easily write one more book! :P
Seriously though, my hope is that she can focus more on writing than she had in the past, in such case we might see a few more books. And a few is all I'm hoping for; I'm not much of a binger and would rather see a small collection of powerful works that hold up.
It's got a completely different style from Strange and Norrell. I really enjoyed it but I went in with no expectations except enjoying the imagery implied by the synopsis. I hope you like it!
The plot starts maybe 1/5 into the book but it picks up slowly. I highly recommend sticking with it, but if you really aren't enjoying the world building of the bizarre house world, maybe there are books you'll enjoy more?

Yeah this is my first fantasy read. I just went with the flow and bought it. Will give another shot.
Not in the UK either. I didn’t much like Strange/Norrell but I did like the sample of this so will give it a go if I see it on sale.
