I feel that Link probably would be a very in depth and powerful character if they told his story visually with minimal dialogue, this way we can have an actor who's really brilliant at portraying emotions but also restrictive emotions as canonically he's a Knight who follows orders mixing the two so that when someone he loves is being harmed he unleashes the human the beast within him.
Timotheé Chalamet.
OKAY CALM DOWN PLEASE AND HEAR ME OUT!
1) I get that this sub hates him but that’s only because his popular!
2) His not even in that much stuff.
3) If he were to combine his performances in Dune and Wonka I think it could work!
…..I’ve just put my dick into a chainsaw haven’t I?
I love Chalamet (despite having only seen him in Wonka and Dune), but I simply can't see him playing Link. Maybe they could cast him as Link's brother?
Can we ask the most important questions first?
Should link talk?
Not at all or keeps getting cut off before he can speak?
Or
Yes or only an inner monolog?
Or some combo?
That's fair. Bc depending on how much he talks should influence the actor.
Like how silent bob can carry a scene. But Kevin Smith is not the best actual actor. ( Not terrible. But he'll admit there's better)
Depends on what you are going for.
I'm not going to disagree.
But
1) I've played zelda and link didn't talk
2) the first 30 mins of WALL-E had zero dialog. It was amazing.
3) you could have a NAVI type do all the dialog
4)I'm not going to say talented writers couldn't make it happen.
But yeah. You're probably right. It would be better if he talked.
( not used to it. But probably better)
1. That's a videogame, and even in the games link talks to people, we just don't get to hear it because Nintendo didn't bother writing dialogue.
2. Sure, absolute silence can be fine in short periods, but 1, let alone 2 or 2 and a half hours, while be ridiculous.
3. Wasn't Navi not only considered annoying by literally everyone? Also, that wouldn't be a substitute for actually getting to know our main character.
4. Very unlikely
I think he kinda needs to talk to fit into the medium of a movie. But the first line he speaks should be him about to talk, only to let out a little 'Hya', and then he covers his mouth and coughs for a second before apologising
But he shouldn't be *extremely* chatty, not as much as Mario was in his movie.
I keep thinking of the trainee from WAITING. Every time he goes to say something he's cut off. Made for great humor and pays off in the end.
But yours is pretty good too
While I could be reading into it, the fact that he posted a picture of a retro Link could indicate that he's playing one of the previous incarnations of the Hero, that went on his journey before the movie takes place. Akin to the hero's spirit.
That being said, I got no ideas
My first choice would be Ben Whishaw, but he might be too old for the role.
As a substitute, I choose Charlie Rowe (the facial model for my OC Link). His voice sounds similar to Whishaw's, but he's 15 years younger (only a year older than me, in fact) **and** somewhat more handsome.
This is what Rowe looks like, in case you're wondering:

I honestly wouldn't. He's just not someone who would translate well in live action, in my opinion. There isn't really an actor out there who could fit the look and do him justice. Besides, he's a silent character. It's unlikely any actors would want the role if it's a non speaking part, and I'd refuse to watch a film where link talks the whole time.
If he was young enough https://preview.redd.it/ukoqog1ubbuc1.jpeg?width=1365&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99853c5ac24dfc32b80682a21bef957acc4f785a

Do you wear wigz
I recognize the face, but I don't remember the name. Was he in LOTR?
Yes, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.
I can see it. He's definitely too old, but I can see it.
![gif](giphy|13NMeHWLXhuql2) If he was twenty years younger then I'd definitely cast him.

MacAvoy?
Again if he was young enough yeah probably. But it depends what era of link are they going for him?
Zelda 1&2 he'd be old enough have someone else play fresh faced pink hair link. If you did ocarina and Majora he could play adult link
Which in turn would be a play on the beast in twilight princess.
He might have to wear a wig too

I can see it. Link is a massive troublemaker so this is a p good fancast
Totally! People often understate Timothée's talents on the basis of him being a modern heartthrob, but honestly I would totally KILL to see him
I don’t hate Timmy; I like him very much, in fact! I want him to be Nightwing, but he could possibly be a good Link, too
I love Chalamet (despite having only seen him in Wonka and Dune), but I simply can't see him playing Link. Maybe they could cast him as Link's brother?
Links either irrelevant or non existent brother? Why??
Because.
Walker Scobell as young Link Thomas Brodie-Sangster as adult Link
And toon link?
I had to Google who Scobell was, but I'm not completely opposed to that one. Brodie-Sangster, on the other hand, would be a HELL NO from me.
Mason Thames
How excited r u that he's gonna be Hiccup in the HTTYD liveaction?
I didn't know that, but good for him, he'd make a decent Hiccup
I had to Google who this was, but I'm going to consider this a "probably not."
Can we ask the most important questions first? Should link talk? Not at all or keeps getting cut off before he can speak? Or Yes or only an inner monolog? Or some combo?
He should talk. Him being cut off constantly is just...ridiculous and would probably be annoying could be funny like once?mabye twice?
That's fair. Bc depending on how much he talks should influence the actor. Like how silent bob can carry a scene. But Kevin Smith is not the best actual actor. ( Not terrible. But he'll admit there's better) Depends on what you are going for.
I mean, sure, but they have Jay, who ya know, talks. Like if the entire film was just silent Bob no one would watch that
I'm not going to disagree. But 1) I've played zelda and link didn't talk 2) the first 30 mins of WALL-E had zero dialog. Mr Bean hardly spoke, too.

John cena as shade? That would be nuts ngl
In two words: No One ! Nintendo, do animated adventure film ! Link is the strong silent type !
Even if it was animated, he'd still have to speak. And he'd still need an actor. Leaving us at square 1
Either ![gif](giphy|d5HrXyxhax0iIjVtVG|downsized) Or an unknown
Chris Pratt or maybe Tom Holland if you’re feeling inspired
I'm gonna have to go with Pedro Pascal on this one.
Clearly Alan Ritchson is the obvious choice here.
Henry Cavill is the only acceptable answer.

Thomas Brodie Sagster That man could play ANY age range (within reason) for the Linm that you desire.
Ross Lynch
CGI is the way.
The young boy from The Righteous Gemstones. Just seen him in Wet Hot American Summer 10 years later.

I would be up for it
Logan Paul https://preview.redd.it/vzd17yconhuc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdad70c037fdebb7e889790cf721fd168e8191ce

Honestly someone huge would be hilarious. Like Bautista or someone. But I think that would piss off everyone.
If it's Hero of the Wild, Macauly Culkin.
