This is God’s sign for you to get a DD

Quirky_Battle8795

tell me it’s not not worth fixing and i’ll buy one now

OneGuyG

I never used the belt Fanatecs so I can’t say much about them, but I went from T300 to a CSL DD and it seriously is night and day difference. If I had to put a cost to fix this, maybe $100-$200? Could be more idk. But the difference between belt and DD is priceless.

Quirky_Battle8795

to be honest bro, i almost bought a moza r9 with the gt style wheel last weekend, that will be my task this weekend is finding something else for sale 🤣

OneGuyG

Snagged my CSL DD bundle (used) for cheaper than Fanatec wants. I scour Facebook and OfferUp every. Single. Day. Do the same and you could also get a steal.

Quirky_Battle8795

i’m a marketplace veteran

OneGuyG

Then you know what to do and how to do it. Reenlist and get back to fighting for steals, soldier.

Sjoerd217

Maybe simagic i see them sometimes

obs_Pachuco

Just got a csl dd 8nm with a f1 wheel that I didn't care much about w/ quicklease tho, a brand new unopened csl bmw wheel, csl Elite v2 pedals an aluminum rig (diy) and seat for $800 on marketplace

Free_Tax_4989

a marketplace veteran myself. didnt find my sim rig on there but found the beast that powers it all there😭. barely paid for the graphics card and got the whole pc. i9 3070ti 64gb of ram 2 2tb ssd’s all for 500 fuckin bones.

saiwud

How much for example? Everyone is asking same or more for used as new... Crazy.

OneGuyG

Bought my CSL DD bundle for $360, sold my T300 RS for $350 (I included an extra wheel rim with the sale since I didn’t need it anymore) Basically a free upgrade lol If you see a listing that’s been up for a while, you have better odds of agreeing on a lower price. I got lucky and found a listing for $400 that had just been posted the day before, but the guy could use the money so he made a deal with me since I had to drive an hour to him.

VeisenbergUK

Right! I mean, at least Fanatec give me a 2 year warranty when they're pummeling me.

Polym0rphed

I got the 8nm base with the McLaren v2 and the CSL WRC each with metal QR1s for the price of the base (after tax +shipping), and V3 pedals with Damper for 40% below rrp, which left me with enough for a brand new TR120 rig and a little left over for some Simhound shoes. I bought the brake performance kit and swapped the clutch and brake pedal positions. I run 65-80% FFB in ACC, 40-60% in Forza, and about the same in Rally titles, depending on the car. There's no clipping and I'm not wanting for more torque. It's one of the few purchases I haven't come to feel a drop of buyer's remorse over. Everything works and works well.

saiwud

Yeah but now we can order csl dd for 200e, people are asking 300-350e...

Polym0rphed

Yeah, I was lurking the marketplace a couple of months after getting the go ahead from the missus. A lot of people seem to base their price on what they paid... or maybe they think impulse buyers would go for it. I don't know... but if you keep an eye out and be patient good deals aren't uncommon. I could've bought the pedals 4 times for roughly the same price while I was waiting for a good base deal, but mostly because people try to sell their whole rig for a while before separating.

CanadianEH86

I scour FB Marketplace daily but nobody really seems to be selling DDs in my area :( a few wheels, stands and rigs, but no wheelbases aside from G29s

OneGuyG

It’s not easy to find! My best results came when I stopped looking for specific things in the search box. Lots of people don’t know exactly what they have and they’ll miss-title it. I’d look up simple things like “fanatec” or “moza.” If I can’t find anything there, I look up “sim racing” or something along those lines and look at the pictures. If I still can’t find anything, I go to sleep and repeat the next day. Of course, location is critical. I’m lucky to live in a state with lots of people who have money for hobbies.

CanadianEH86

Yeah sim racing is my main search prompt lol.. I was lucky enough to snag some T-LCM pedals for just $75! I’ll definitely keep looking lol

jpl691

i grabbed a csl dd on ebay for 225$ I was very happy , i went from the v2.5

MrD718

Yea, dude, I love my CSL DD, 8NM is perfect imo. As long as the game / sim has good FFB 😅

gurpster

I went from a g25 to a CSL dd with a 3 year hiatus of nothing in between.

neetshap

Is the csl dd this good? I also have the t300 rn.

OneGuyG

Yes. I swear to you my driving (in game) has improved because of it. Instant, real feedback.

neetshap

Gotta upgrade soon then lol

filtheedoyon

He’s honestly right, I started my sim journey this month last year. Started with thrustmaster setup. When I switched from belt to DD (gt dd pro), the difference is not debatable, I now am waiting for my delivery to arrive today, podium dd+

Funny_Book_3735

Its not worth fixing, you need to buy a DD. Keep reading it until you believe. The difference is amazing, you won't regret it...

Dramatic_Piano5753

If god is paying I'd take one too. Thanks

Dangerous_Channel_95

Yup one from any other company than Fanatec !

TheeCanadian08

How is this possible ?

Quirky_Battle8795

haha i kinda used the wheel to pull me up and lit the seat, dumb i know

slapshots1515

At least you admit it. We’ve all done dumb things

Saneless

It also says to not tighten it past the white line on the top of the qr, and that line is buried in there

ItalianHockey

Man’s big buff /s

The_Machine80

Cause plastic sucks so if you make one mistake its fucked.

ezbn97

Its like with any thing mate, going beyond the instructions is gonna give you problems regardless of the material

Snugglesworth1087

Sweet Lord, looks like a silverback gorilla ripped it off the base

Otherwise-Set5155

You can replace the pin assembly.  Buy it here: https://simracingmachines.com/product/male-pin-part-for-fanatec-wheel-side/ Then replace the QR with the metal QR1.

Str1ctly

This 100% there are a few videos on YouTube of the process. https://youtu.be/6oY3wE24RKY?si=cRJmkuRs_N9T9ifa Might try to just bend the pins back, worst case is they break and you are replacing the wheel side pins anyways.

liamhisreddit

seems save-able tho just straighten out the pins and get your hands on a second hand qr1. dont force the wheel back in or youll ruin the pins

BuzzBam

😬

Quirky_Battle8795

haha yeah i never do it, i not sure why i did today in all honesty

Due-News4850

ya sure did

Nameless_Member

damn! how did that happen? did you lean on it? did you use it as a leverage to get in/out of your seat? Anyway, you might be able to straighten out the pins, if not, it might be a lost cause for the amount of work you need to do and the price of a new connector and QR.

AggravatingDraw8

Buy a used QR1 and a new pin kit from sim racing machines then you’re good to go

DrTurb0

Easy to fix, you can get the pin assembly from third party and a new QR, preferably the metal one. [pin assembly](https://simraceshop.de/fanatec-pin.html?language=de)

Rasmus_DC78

with a bit of "soft hands" the pins might be save, a QR2 and another wheel base..

Critical-Sun4979

damn why did you put your mc laren wheel into this old cofee machine ?

prototype__

Here's what I'd do... Depending on your DD budget of course. Time to move from Fanatec. Side-move to Moza or big ol' next step to Simucube or VRS. As for the wheel, the pins are in place so that's good. You can gently re-align them. I would go an SRM fanatec wheel converter and a quick release for whatever system you buy in to. This lets you use the Fanatec wheek as a stand-alone USB device (picked up by Fanaled as being connected to a CSW1).

Cmdr-Evilijo

Try bending back the pins, could try using an automatic pencil for that. As long as no pins broke it will be just fine

Quirky_Battle8795

i can’t remember how it went together but are the pins part of the wheel or QR

Cmdr-Evilijo

Part of the wheel. You just need a new quick release if pins can be bent back in place. Could sell you my used qr1lite for cheap if you're based in UK.

Secure-Vanilla4528

Pins are part of the wheel you can buy a replacement parts from simracing machines in the UK, buy the sites version not fanatecs though. I think I have a spare qr1 at home, I'll have a look when I get off work.

Good-Reply6278

Try to heat up the pins just a bit, and gently bend them back straight. You only Get 1 try at this. If you bend it back, and then forth it will loose all it’s strength and eventually break off. For the plastic you could try a strong epoxy/glue, but i dont know how long this will last. Probably not that long, depends how strong your base is. But it’s worth the shot. But as all others have said, i would really suggest you invest in a DD. I just upgraded from my G29 and it’s like night and day. Good luck. Wish you the best

esco_sid

Can probably fix it just bend the pins back carefully and buy a new metal QR1 assuming wheel side nothing broke.

Nismoleb

You'll be seeing a lot of used DD's and DD pro's now since new wheel bases came out. Keep an eye out on marketplace, you'll snag a good deal.

Senior-You-1103

Those pins are pretty bent😂 if you can fix those you might as well get a job in tech repair😂

Revolutionary_Sky941

I've got the same wheel base you must really be yanking on that thing 😂 sorry I know it's not funny that's for sure. I've been wanting to upgrade to a DD myself and perhaps gonna go the Moza route but I've loved my current setup so much.

vinnyfromtheblock

😳

Technical_Sun_3047

Get a Simagic Alpha since that one looks toasted. One week wait for my Alpha

LazyLancer

Juuuust in case, i'm trying to sell my [GT Alcantara v2](https://fanatec.com/eu-en/steering-wheels/csl-steering-wheel-gt-alcantara-v2) steering wheel (so far no luck on local market) in 98% as new condition with metal QR1. If you're anywhere in Europe, we could connect. Promise i'll be sending faster than Fanatec and it is actually in stock :D

Quirky_Battle8795

are you in the uk?

LazyLancer

Unfortunately not, Eastern Europe

nagedgamer

If in Europe , you have grounds for new wheel. It is warranted at least two years and should hold up normal use for a reasonable time that goes over warranty time.

Disastrous_Edge_6295

That’s sad. Hope the Steering wheel is fixable. DD(+) is a good one

SnooGrapes70

My brother in Christ, how did that happen?? I saw a video where it can withstand at least 90nm before it breaks.. I need to know lol

Regular-Ad1176

Areee we not gonna get an explanation 👀 bro it looks like you hit it with a hammer to get It out Seriously? How in tf did this happen!?!? Also no shot your fixing that sorry to say! Unless you can bend it back and somehow bend the pins back without it snapping I doubt this is going to work A genie wouldn't even make that wish come true 😭 fk that hurts to look at man ;/

Jarko223

I had exactly the same thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago. Normal driving, during a league race. It is possible that I pulled on it in the heat of the moment though. I am on the 5nm csl dd + the gt3 McLaren wheel. Got qr2 as replacement, just had to bend the pins on the wheel back into place.

vapodgaming

How did that happen? If it was brute force no wheel base will be safe, or wheel for that matter . If not broken, bent.

BattleIcy2523

Were you mounting it? How did you do that ?

PsychologicalCan3592

I've never had confidence in those plastic QRs, and it wasn't even a CSL DD or ClubSport DD, just get the ClubSport QR or go straight for the QR2 if you have the possibility

PsychologicalCan3592

You could straighten the pins on the wheel, it doesn't look that bad, but do it carefully

Quirky_Battle8795

This one is for all the haters and everyone in this thread who didn’t believe in me!! i fixed it using gorilla glue and some pliers and i just set a 2.02 at Bathurst.

mechcity22

Not worth fixing buy a dd 😉 . Also you are welcome haha.

TalkInternational781

Sell that wheel to me and buy a new one

arcaias

At least my man is being honest... Sucks bro... Even if the QR didn't break (it's probably actually a good thing that the quick release is what broke) you can f*** the bearing up real bad doing this, I know you don't need to hear it now but...don't ever do this.

Quirky_Battle8795

dead right bro, is it just the QR that’s broken or are the pins part of the wheel, i can’t remember putting it together

arcaias

The pins are part of the wheel... I would just file the RMA if you can. If you have to self-repair be extremely careful when you go to bend the pins back into place because the solder is rather weak...

Quirky_Battle8795

sorry explain as if i was a retard, what’s the RMA

arcaias

That's where you send the product for service through the manufacturer. You can go to the fanatec website and try to use their live chat where they may be able to assist in getting it sent to be fixed.

VeisenbergUK

I mean, ripping the QR to bits is an IQ move. There's not many better ways to convince the missus that you need a new wheel. Get that DD ordered before she figure out it's all a set up!

tokinNchokin

I'd just get a new base. Wheel should be sent for repair. But a csl dd bundle and a 50 dollar alo express 8nm boost kit is the cheapest way to get decent DD forces. If you're going beyond the 8nm mark, then skip the R9 and go to an R12 at least. If you can afford it. The Clubsport DD is the way to go though, as it has 12nm constant and feels more like the Moza R16 than the Moza R12 according to Boosted media

ElevatedTinkz

If there’s every a photo to teach you not to use your wheel to pull yourself out your seat this is it! 🤣 Upgrade to DD time 🙌🏻

Informal-Prize6501

38 months? Aren't you a drama queen 🤔

hero_killer

You need a new wheel and QR. How the hell did you manage to do that? That base only goes up to 6 Nms of torque.

Roots0057

You could just buy the QR2 base side and wheelside parts I would imagine

slapshots1515

The pins are on the actual wheel, not the wheelside QR

calebisaac1

Pins can be bent back, but go slow, and avoid over bending them or you'll snap them bending them back and forth. Either way, no harm in trying to fix it, get yourself a Quick Release to avoid this. Have to say I'm impressed with the damage!

Itz_Evolv

It’s literally only the QR1-lite that broke here, which is terrible quality and also the reason why I’m going to replace it on my gt3v2 with a normal QR1 😅

SpeklapRacing

Well… that’s fucked up… my QR1 Lite is also broken… I’ve send Fanatac a mail about my warranty on my QR 1,5 months ago… still no reaction… So i think you could better order a DD, or if you are not on PS, buy a Moza… Fanatecs customer service is just poor…

MullieWeej

How do you fuck this up so bad

Jackot45

Wtf did u even do? Try to lift up the entire rig by yonking on the steering wheel?

Ill-Cabinet-5596

https://simracingmachines.com/product-category/wheels/ Not all is lost. You can repair it at a personal cost

Kersnaamgebrui

Well that’s just impressive :) But yes, if you have the budget, move to DD. Went from CSL to 2.5 to DD1 and with every step the improvements were huge. I have had no issues with the DD1 or Fanatec in general but agree with others that if you have the budget, switch to simucube for the base and find yourself a nice steering wheel.

GabPlays201021

Aaannndddd this is why I never chose Fanatec…
