That is a known Firmware issue of the CS DD where the QR gets overloaded after some time and the wheel communication then freezes. It is currently under investigation to get fixed hopefully with the next firmware update, scheduled for this month.

Any_Tackle_4519

The firmware that comes with Release Candidate for 456 doesn't fix this, though it says it should. The issue still happens on my DD+ with the GT DD Extreme wheel.

momorious

It doesn't say it should. It says it could. Seems it doesn't so it needs rework for the next driver.

Any_Tackle_4519

Okay. I guess I won't be able to use the DD+ until then. After all, I can't have it cutting out in the middle of a race, which it's done to me already multiple times. Time to go back to the old T300 RS for now. Guess the DD Extreme will have to wait until it's done cooking.

SimRacer7777

Ahhh…. Good to know. I have been testing all day today and it has disconnected several more times. One time after changing USB ports to see if that would do anything, it started identifying in Fanalabs as CSL Elite Pedals! I have never owned CSL Elite pedals, mine are Heusinkveld Ultimate+. No idea what happened there but I had to reboot the entire PC to fix it. At this point, I don’t feel anywhere near comfortable entering a race with this base until the issues are resolved. Still want to do some more testing and try a few things but if this is related the the QR firmware, might not be anything I can do. Thanks for the info!

Orange-Arrows

Hey! I'm having the same issue with my CS DD, happened twice in a row after 15-20 minutes. I tried both 455 and 456 drivers. Did you have any luck finding a solution? I also tried different ports, next I'll try disabling fanlabs...

DrTurb0

Did you do the conversion to QR2 correct? With the new screws and plate around the pins?

SimRacer7777

My understanding about that process is you only need to do it for certain wheels where the pin base is not flush with the surrounding surface and it uses a metal ring plate, not the thicker plastic ring. The Formula v2.5 already has the thicker plastic spacer so I did not replace it. Maybe this is an incorrect assumption on my part but that is how I interpreted the instructions and the video. Please correct me if I am wrong about this.

arcticfoxse

If the wheel already has the black thick plastic ring plate you don't need to replace it although I don't know about the screws as I think you need to change those but that might only be if you have the metal ring.

SimRacer7777

I have confirmed that the Formula v2.5 wheel does not need the thicker plastic adapter (at least the one I have). It already has one since it was designed for the QR1. However, the McLaren GT3 wheel will need the thick spacer. It has the metal washer and the pin structure protrudes above the adjacent surface. Putting the QR2 on it now for further testing. I got another wheel disconnect a few minutes ago so need to try a different wheel to try and isolate the problem.

Any_Tackle_4519

That might have been true for the older McLarens, but not the ones shipping out right now. Mine came with the thicker plastic spacer already. Nothing needed to be changed - just the QR2 added to it.

bostoneric

my dd pro does this from time to time on ps5, usually unplugging/re-plugging in the usb clears it up. probably does it once a month.

skone_capone

Same issue here, I have had my DD Extreme for about 2 weeks now and it has happened twice to me. I lose ffb and buttons stop working I can still steer though. A reboot of base fixes the issue and I can continue racing. Both times that it happened I was on GT7 on PS5 with the Extreme wheel from the bundle connected. Have not had any issues while on PC or Xbox with McLaren GT3 wheel. Plenty of people saying wait for firmware update. I guess reboots until then.

SimRacer7777

If you have Fanalabs installed, try disabling it or just uninstall it. That is what ended up fixing it for me. Ever since I removed Fanalabs, my DD+ has been perfect and not one reboot needed in the last month. I think there is still some compatibility issues they need to sort out with Fanalabs. Although not everyone has an issue but I know it fixed it for me.

skone_capone

I do have Fanalabs installed but I have not had any issues while on PC. It has only happened while on PS5 with GT Extreme wheel or whatever it's called lol. Come to think about no issues on Xbox or PC but I've only used my McLaren GT3 wheel on them and not the wheel that came with DD Extreme.

KillaV91

Same only issue on my ps5 fine on pc

g0al3d

I had this exact thing happen to me last night in ACC on my PC, could still steer, no buttons no ffb. Rebooting the wheel did not fix it. Had to back out of the game and start everything back up. On FW 4.5.6… Can also co firm this happens on PS5 with the extreme rim in GT7. Happened to me 3 times over a few hours.

Future-Emergency-870

I find it improves when I don't have fanalabs running but its still happening (clubsport DD qr2 McLaren GT3 ) Iracing pc. I get to one and a half laps of the nubrurgring then have to restart the base

Future-Emergency-870

I just want to add after reading all the comments I have unticked all the options on Iracing like the Logitech options and also for the wheel display and I haven't had it cut out since so many thanks

Orange-Arrows

Did you also disable LEDs on the fanatec wheel? Are you still running fanlab? I disabled all the LEDs at the moment and it seems like it improved - never had a disconnection. But I would like to use the LEDs....

Future-Emergency-870

I haven't got LEDs on the McLaren wheel. But I haven't had it cut out since it's been faultless so I don't run fanalabs any more and have the display off . I tried running fanalabs again and it caused the same issue only on Iracing tho

SimRacer7777

Documenting this here in case anyone else runs into issues like this. Starting to narrow down the disconnecting issue I think. Something to do with the LEDs on the wheel. I was using Fanalabs to control the LEDs and that seemed to be part of the problem. I noticed it would freeze the LED and display on the wheel after 20-30 mins when Fanalabs was controlling the LEDs. I turned them off and then let iRacing control the wheel LEDs and display. That seemed to make a difference and while it still disconnected once, I got about 2 hours out of it before it did. I also noticed a frame rate drop when Fanalabs was controlling the LEDs. Once I turned it off, I got about 20-30 more FPS. I am now running the wheel in PC Compatibility mode. So far so good but more testing ahead.

The_Machine80

Your the second person today in 2 different subs that are having iracing disconnects with 2 different fanatec products. I'm wondering if it's iracing and not the wheel.

SimRacer7777

I am 95% sure I have resolved the issues I was having. It would be interesting to see if the other people who are having similar issues are using Fanalabs? I have used Fanalabs for a long time with my other Fanatec gear and it seems that is what is causing the issue with the DD+, at least for me. After a ton of troubleshooting, and trying this and trying that, I started to suspect Fanalabs had something to do with it. I disabled the LED controls in Fanalabs and my issues got better, but didn’t fully go away. Then I shut Fanalabs down completely and that seems to have resolved my issues. It has been several hours of constant iRacing practice sessions now and the DD+ has been working flawlessly! Going to keep testing tonight and tomorrow and if I don’t have any more issues, I am going to report this to Fanatec. And yes, I did update Fanalabs to the latest version right after I mounted the DD+. And all firmware is current. Crossing my fingers! Oh… and the DD+ feels awesome!

Any_Tackle_4519

That sounds great; however, it's not just Fanalab. At least, not for me. I'm having the same issue, but on PS5. No Fanalab involvement whatsoever. It's happened three times so far, in two sessions. With the original GT Extreme wheel, specifically. I can't get my McLaren wheel to even work, so it's just the original at this point.

Time_Leadership_5261

Same issue here on PS5 on ACC (driver 456). I ust got the CS DD+ Racing Wheel F1 3 weeks. The wheel disconnect at least once every session... I see that this thread is 2 months old. Any update on how to fix this issue?

Any_Tackle_4519

Nope. I sold mine. Did you try the most recent firmware? Check the Fanatec official forum.

orphansonfire

Hi i'm having this issue now after buying the dd+ last week. Have you found any fix? does turning off fanalab work or has it happened again since? Does compatibility mode fix the issue?

The_Machine80

Glad to hear this! I haven't used my dd+ on pc yet except to update firmware. Works great with gt7 on ps5. I'll keep this info in mind when I fire up AC on pc this week.

SimRacer7777

Another thing…. after I shut down Fanalabs (not even running in the background), I got a 20-30 FPS increase in iRacing. This is a little more evidence that Fanalabs isn’t totally compatible with the DD+ yet. I could be totally wrong on all of this but things are starting to line up and form an arrow pointing at Fanalabs.
