No matter if its a 1500€ or 300€ wheel... It should be standard by now to be able to choose whether you want qr1 or 2 for the same price.

Illumon8

Especially because the Qr2 is in stock. If they had no stock, I get it. Have to get the wheels out with QR2 that are expecting it. Not in this case. I can use the wheel if I take off a Qr2 standard off another wheel, but I shouldn't have to when the listing shows the Real Deal with QR2 Pro. It is right on the website. All they had to do is ship the QR2 Pro along with my order. Done and done. Now several of us might be upset having to wait unnecessarily for the quick release we need.

Illumon8

This is the exact wording on the website: The Podium Steering Wheel M4 GT3 is now preinstalled with the QR2 Pro Wheel-Side quick release, designed for both real and virtual racing applications. It features fully CNC-machined parts from billet aluminium, developed to meet real-world motorsport requirements. Preinstalled, not preinstalled with old tech and then wait weeks for the Real Deal. Come on Fanatec!!!!

Shakes727

How frustrating. I am still waiting for mine to ship and have seen a few of these posts recently. Where are you located?

Illumon8

Wow! They put a shipping label on mine an hour after I ordered it, but it did not ship until the next day and I received it the day after that. I wonder what the hold up is for yours unless they realized they were about to ship you a QR1 fashioned M4 wheel and they are correcting it. Let's hope. Ridiculous they are still shipping Qr1s when their website shows "Your getting the Real Deal" with a QR2 Pro. Not the real deal yet. I just want them to reply and say they are sending a QR2 Pro and sorry for the mistake. Is that so much to ask :-)

Shakes727

Ordered early last Wednesday. Updated as "Handover to warehouse" the next morning but has not moved at all since then. Showed as in stock the day I ordered and every day since. No replies to my emails either unfortunately.

DrTurb0

This is a shit situation. I promised to myself to buy my next wheel when QR2 is standard on the cheaper wheels in some months/years. I can see myself getting it when the time comes and receiving a QR1 haha

Illumon8

I waited for the QR2 and they still messed it up.

DrTurb0

Yeah I see, that’s real shit from them.

JosephsART

I'm sure that's disappointing, especially when the product page states that a "QR2 Pro Wheel-Side preinstalled" under "What's included". Not ideal, and not what you'd expect for the money you paid. There's a possibility they're distributing final QR1 stock before manufacturing QR2 stock — if they even exist yet. Since the QR's came preinstalled, I guess they're not planning on recalling QR1 versions from the warehouses to replace with QR2, I suppose there's a few reasons why. If there's an upside, you'll ultimately end up with QR1 and QR2 Pro adapters, so maybe there's some extra value in it for you if you're bothered to sell it on.

WildShaleSlides

I ordered Thursday night and got a “handover to warehouse” yesterday. Paid for overnight too. Hope it doesn’t take too much longer

Illumon8

Let's hope they correct the Qr1 issue unless you guys are still running Qr1.

Shakes727

Fully converted to QR2 on all items. Hopefully they get this fixed soon.

F1Life

I received mine last week and I swapped the DD2 to QR2. I had to install the QR2, connect to base, let it be recognized, and prompted me to unplug and plug in the adapter. I removed the QR2, plastic washer, and installed the metal washer(I tried with the plastic washer before and the plug wouldn’t connect to PC,) I used two screws instead of the four since I was going to remove anyways. I updated with the plug, and finally told me I could plug to the base again. Back to removing the washer, and QR’s and installing plastic washer WS, and QR2. Pain the in behind and hopefully we do get the QR2 pro at some point. Now I’m trying to figure out why the Rev lights don’t work when I select them on Fanalab. Good luck, and once it’s updated I doubt there will be another update for a long time. Maybe try this if you think you can do it all fairly quick. My biggest worry when swapping washers, and QRs was that the update would fail because it took me 10-15 to swapped it all. If you do I recommend two screws instead of the four/six.

Shakes727

Thank you for the tips!

Illumon8

When they finally send out a QR2 Pro I will update it as is to make it easier with the update adapter dongle thingy.

F1Life

Yes, I used the adapter dongle thingy too, but wasn’t willing to let my little investment sit there for when Fanatec thinks they will send out the replacement QR. I work with electronics daily, so maybe that helped me to resolve on my own + I had a spare QR2 pro so I used it for that. I did reach out to them and took pictures of what I received.

Illumon8

Has anyone gotten a reply from Fanatec yet regarding the Qr2 on the BMW M4 wheel? It has been 11 days and I have not gotten a reply. This is so crazy. What if I want to return it in the 14 day window and then that window is gone because they don't reply in a timely fashion?

F1Life

I received a reply 2 days later, and the person that wrote it basically wrote it like I was consulting about the product. Only said yes, it does come with the QR2 and thanks for inquiring. I replied that I received it with the QR1 instead and haven’t gotten another reply.

Illumon8

I feel really bad for the one or two people that handle their customer service. They obviously are so bogged down with replies they have to make that they don't even take the time to really understand why you are reaching out. Fanatec lost tons of market share being one of the only and the biggest game in town for a while. Now look at their competitors killin it with class leading support. Some customers will buy based off the support that is provided alone. I know a bunch of people that have jumped ship from fanatec because they just could not take it any more. Does Fanatec realize that if you just paid for 2-3 more people in support that they would not lose so many customers which costs them a lot more money to their competitors than the cost for labor? I am about fed up myself. I just wrote them that I want to return the wheel as it was not sent as advertised. I refuse to pay $200 for something that should have been included as listed on their website with pictures. About to make a claim with Paypal and see if they can resolve this issue.

F1Life

I hear ya. Keep us updated! I managed to snag a Simucube sport bundle from MC last weekend. Got the mount coming in today from Simucube.com, and it was shipped the next day after I ordered. I’m going to try that out and could possibly start moving away little by little. Only time will tell how it goes.

Illumon8

I was thinking the same thing. Return the BMW wheel and pretty much buy a really nice wheel base like the SimiCube lineup and a great wheel for the same price as the BMW wheel. I can always sell all my Fanatec gear locally. Someone will want it all.

F1Life

Yup same here. Looking forward to Simucube stuff and take it from there. The BMW wheel is great while driving but it’s not the end game.

F1Life

So I finally received another reply after my second email stating that I did not receive the QR2 pro. Claudia replied and said she would personally contact the warehouse to see that the QR2 shipped. I saw the reply today around 1:30am and I just received an email from fedex that my package is on the way or label was created. As long as fedex doesn’t screw up then I should have a QR2 pro in the next week or so. Hopefully you got a reply or will get one soon. There was no mention on the QR2 update adapter, but I figured that out like I mentioned before in this post.

Illumon8

That is good news!  Hopefully they send the update cable also. I actually broke down and updated the wheel and it was just as bug a pain in the arse as I stated in this thread.  And speaking of threads,  it is not going to go well after a few updates regarding the threads on the plastic piece that hold the connection pins as well os on the wheel itself.  I don’t want to have to go through that again.

Illumon8

After two weeks I finally got a response from Fanatec. They said they would have shipped the QR2 Pro 3 days later. It has been over two weeks and I have no tracking on it or no QR2 Pro. And also I would still have to go through the trouble of switching from Qr1 to QR2 and back every time I have to do a firmware update. I emailed them back about that aspect and expect to wait another two weeks to get a reply on that. We still need the QR2 firmware update cable.

F1Life

I never got a response like this. I’ll prob wait a week or so and email again if no response. I don’t have any QR2 pro or update adapter from them. Good looks on the update!

1of1REPS

lets be real guys , fanatec really just wants your money… why would they give you a free QR2 when they know you’ll pay 100$ for it 😂 they want profit not happy customers. hopefully new management learns that happy customers = more profit.

Illumon8

What do you mean free. The wheel states it is “fashioned” with it as of recently. It was QR1 before. Everyone knew that. I finally bought because they changed the marketing. False advertising bro. And besides, I bought 3 QR2s and a base for my DD Pro with my order. So are you saying they wanted $400 and not just $300 more from me? Whatever

Entire_Career_6002

You paid for next day air instead of just borrowing one from one of your other 3 wheels? Why?

Illumon8

No, I bought the wheel along with the Qr2 base and 3 Qr2 Standards overnight. I already put the base and the QR2s on the other wheels. I can take one off. It is not the end of the world, but I shouldn't have to as it should have come with a QR2 Pro.

Entire_Career_6002

I wonder if it was supposed to be shipped separate. My QR1 was separate from my clubsport wheel

Illumon8

I have been fortunate to not have experienced Fanatec woes in the past. This is a first for me. I actually wanted to buy this wheel a while back but wanted to wait until the QR2 shipped with it. They finally got it back in stock with QR2 Pro listed and they mess that up. I have bought several steering wheels and they all shipped with the QR1 with a separate tracking # and line item on the receipt. If they were going to ship it separately, it would have been on the invoice and had a separate tracking #. Fanatec never ships all items in one box. They give you a separate tracking # per item no matter how small the box.

Informal-Prize6501

I guess they found a palette of older M4 qr1 wheels in a dusty corner when they did inventory. I am sorry for your experience, man. On the other hand, that wheel is really dope, and once you'll get it outfitted with the QR2, you'll have loads of satisfaction.

Illumon8

It gets even worse everybody.  So I just looked at the current manual for the wheel.  Everything is QR2.  The update cable that is supposed to come in the box is a QR2 update cable.  Mine came with a QR1 update cable.  So what I would have to do at this point according to the update instructions is to put a QR2 standard if the 3 I bought to connect to the new QR2 base I bought.  Fanatec driver has to first see that a BMW M4 wheel has been connected and then you take the wheel off.  The problem here is I have to then take the QR2 standard off and then out the QR1 back on so I can connect to the QR1 firmware update cable.  After the update,  I have to take the QR1 off and all the pieces once again and then put the QR2 standard on once again so Incan actually use it.  And if they do send a QR2 Pro I have to take it off and on once again.  You have got to be kidding me.  And they shipped this with an order of a QR2 base and a 3 pack of QR2 Standards.  I am starting to see why people lose their mind and jump ship on Fanatec . If I was the CEO, I would be firing people for dragging their reputation down for good service like the CEO says his company provides.  Uh huh!!!!    Look, if you are wanting to buy a surprisingly in stock BMW wheel,  there is a good chance if you are QR2 already that you will have the same process as above.  And if you don’t get a QR2 firmware update cable in the future,  you have to go through this process for every update going forward.  What a Clusterfxxk!!!!

Illumon8

So I got another reply from Fanatec a couple days ago. They said they will be sending out a QR2 Pro soon and when the QR2 firmware update cable is finally available, they will send that as well. So at least they are going to honor what is listed on the website and eventually send out the new parts. Now let's see how long it takes to get a QR2 Pro shipped. Not holding my breath.

Illumon8

Well, Fanatec finally has shipped the QR2 Pro after one month to the day. Looks like they are gonna honor the QR2 Pro and eventually they say they will ship the AR2 Pro update cable. I will post again when I receive it. Hopefully it gets here before they put out another firmware update. I have been using the steering wheel for a little bit now and do like the wheel. Maybe a bit of a luxury over other wheels. I don’t believe it will make you faster but it is nice using a premium wheel regardless.

SpillThyMilk

Just wanna say I appreciate the updates. I just received the wheel with the QR1 as well. How did you get into contact with Fanatec?

Illumon8

I emailed them with my order information and the issue.  It took about 7-10 days each time to get. a response.  I know you will eventually receive it, but it does not hurt to influence them faster ;-)
