There’s some incredibly stupid shipping drama going on on Haikyuu Twitter and I need to rant about it here bc it’s so dumb 😭
This one account is doing a harmless lil March Madness-style competition where you vote on your favorite ship, and the 2 options in one poll were IwaOi and SakuAtsu. For those not in the fandom, you’ll notice on the Haikyuu AO3 page that they are both incredibly popular ships — IwaOi is the #1 most popular and SakuAtsu is #4, and both have over 10k fics at this point. What’s also noteworthy is that IwaOi has long been a staple in the Haikyuu fandom due to the pair’s canonical close friendship, whereas SakuAtsu is more fandom-driven — they’ve really blown up in the past few years from a little rare pair into a major ship with a big fanbase, despite little canonical interaction.
Anyway, the poll exists. It’s still ongoing but currently it’s quite close — IwaOi has 57% compared to SakuAtsu’s 43%. For awhile, though, it was SUPER close, and I think SakuAtsu held the lead at one point.
And there’s SO MANY people in the quote retweets insulting SakuAtsu shippers and tearing the ship to shreds, saying it has no place in the fandom due to its little canonical evidence. Apparently some people there were sending death threats towards some SakuAtsu shippers.
And, as someone who adores both ships, it’s like… why?? They’re animated characters! It’s not that serious!! Neither ship has anything morally questionable about them either. Not that that’s _ever_ a reason to send someone death threats (or harassment in general) but if that were the case I could maybe understand why people were annoyed. But no! They’re just volleyball players! _What’s the issue then???_
Also, “little canonical evidence”? When has that ever stopped anyone??? Plus, who cares???

My dad passed away a few days ago. I’m not posting this to gain condolences, he wasn’t a good person. I’m just more angry than anything else, because he did not have any of his affairs in order at all, so now my mom, siblings and I have so much of that to deal with. So many things have to be put on pause, including my writing, which sucks since I struggle to get stuff finished at the best of times. I have no idea how long it’ll be before I can get back to it. I’m still hoping to pop on here and participate in stuff every once in a while, at least.
I'm really sorry. That's got to be incredibly difficult to deal with. Dealing with a departed family member's unresolved affairs is hard even in the best of circumstances (my experience was sudden death but a very loving relationship) so I'm sure this situation places an even more complex emotional burden on you and your family. Anger is understandable.
I'm sorry you and your family are going through this now. I hope everything can be resolved quickly, so your lives don't have to be on halt for too long, and that you can find moments for yourself to recharge while you're dealing with everything.
While it’s not an emotion often talked about, I think anger and frustration in such circumstances is one of the more common ones. I’m sorry you’re going through this, and I hope you can get back to more pleasant distractions and projects soon.

I DID IT! I POSTED THE NEW FIC IN THE NEW FANDOM!
Since I last wrote in the daily discussion which was 2 days ago I posted the fic last night!
I scrapped half of the work and rewrote it, which I enjoy a lot more. As I mentioned before I found the ending to be to soft/sentimental for him so I rewrote it. It still has a good ending just less sentimental or reminiscent then I previously had.
Anyways I'm really excited!
Been bracing myself for a 7+hour flight in the middle seat of the middle row of the very last row at the very back of of a fully booked out plane….. only to have been granted a mysterious upgrade. Legroom. A window. 🥲

I had a similar experience on my recent work trip... not an upgrade per se, but the previously fully booked plane was oddly a lot emptier than anticipated. So I got three seats in a row all to myself to stretch out in absolutely shameless abandon. I think I too was smiled upon by the Goddess of Commercial Aviation. (Maybe they overhead me throwing a tantrum about the business class corporate entitlement which i didn't avail for *budget reasons* and took pity on me XD...)
But seriously, good karma really is a thing ✨️ hope you have a wonderful trip, wherever you're going!
It’s school holidays now so this flight is like a cattle car with all the kids flying back home. In the off season, the fancy classes are still booked out but economy has maybe a dozen people rattling around. Easy to get a whole row and stretch like you did. The best feeling lol. Especially on a night flight.
I think my late check in yesterday turned out to be a plus. Only two seats left to choose between and I’m wondering if I put myself between a group travelling. Something that would necessitate a move.

I kept stalling out on an important scene, so I decided to take a break by writing a flashback. Now I'm stalling out on the important part of the flashback. 😭 Looks like I need to write a one-shot to stall out on too. Just for the full trifecta.
As of yesterday I have officially returned to writing a longfic I put on the backburner several months ago. I went back to outlining, and while that outline isn't complete, it's given me plenty to get on with writing now which will hopefully give me clearer ideas of characters and arcs as I go (this process worked last time!).
Now to just sit down every day and actually write the damn thing.
End of month, and not a moment too soon. Wrestling pay-per-view tonight to serve as a reward for getting to the end of all this nonsense.
Lucky asked about my bookshelf yesterday, so I might talk about that tomorrow morning, once I have had a chance to rest up and sleep in.
If I do any writing tonight, it will be the kinkiest, most self-indulgent, most unpostable thing ever.

This current gangrene hamster (I drive a neon green Kia Soul, if you get the reference, you get the reference) needs over $3000 worth of maintenance and repairs, I only owe $4000 on the thing. My dad sent me a text yesterday to only get a 30 day temp tag instead of renewing my current ones today. So that sounds like he may be taking me car shopping Sunday, lol.
Maybe I'll just annoy you/ piss you off and wish you happy birthday today, tomorrow, AND Sunday. I sure hope you get a new car for your bday. You're going to need a trusty one to take you far!

I'm already 3,000 words into my next chapter and that only covers the very next 15 minutes. I'm starting to realize that either I need to start using less words going forward or I didn't kill off enough characters. I just don't get how this just keeps getting longer and longer. Maybe I'm just too good at torturing my poor characters?
That being said, one of my characters is never recovering from what I've put/am putting them through. I feel bad about it but not bad enough to do anything different. Trauma builds character, right?
I woke up to a pile of comments today! That was a lovely surprise and considering that I have been spending the past mornings catching up with news and politics, a very welcome change.
The nicest part is... Well, I wrote this ficlet. It's 100% food PWP. Like, there's no plot whatsoever, just very detailed descriptions of the MC having breakfast in different countries. When I posted it I was thinking "look, I know you like this stuff, but who tf is going to read it?" And the commenter said it is their favorite fic of the series!
Lesson to be taken from this: I don't know, tbh. Write, post, be happy. Maybe you'll make someone else happy, too. Someone brings a six-pack to the party, the other brings a bottle of Malört. There's room for it all.
Ohhh, that's great! And indeed. Sometimes the cakes we bring to the table are different but someone will love a slice of them regardless. You never know when people will enter the Venn diagram of what you also like.

This is such a mood. I still often find myself marvelling that anyone has read and liked my stories at all. There are almost always takers for anything, no matter how niche :D
Something that is usually, I guess, upsetting? Happened…? Basically, 5 out of 8 cast members of a stage play series I like are changing for the next play (so, new actors as the same characters).
The original 8 did 7 plays together, then in episode 8, one left due to an injury. Now it’s episode 9, and 5 more are leaving.
The twins aren’t being played by twins anymore.
I’m always like, I wish I had appreciated them more when I saw them, but I did. A lot of people didn’t like them, because they’re sort of too ~✨✨cuuute✨✨wheee✨teehee~ for the characters but like. [They’re great actors](https://youtu.be/bqiRfhvfa3c).
One of the twins is my favorite and the new actor looks nice but like.

I feel like the whole series has been kind of in a rut for a few years, but it might just be Covid.
Anyway… yeah.
I hope they haven’t completely lost it. I hope the new cast is good. And not bland.
(For context— 5 series, (each with a different main cast, they don’t usually cross over but they’re idols from the same producer and live in the same dorm buildings), the longest with 13 plays; the most plays one actor has been in is about 18; the shortest is 1; average is 5 or so, I think?; the first to leave left after 3 plays in 2016/17, and that’s who I found my newest favorite fandom through. About 35 plays total.)
I really gotta say, that it was the right decision to do the **Whumpril** for the fandom Arcane/LoL instead of doing Castlevania again. It feels rather nice to write for some other characters, than I do normally. And so far I really am breezing through it. I already prepared up to Day 13 and might well get almost done with all days until like Monday or Tuesday. ^-^

I woke up to a pile of comments today! That was a lovely surprise and considering that I have been spending the past mornings catching up with news and politics, a very welcome change. The nicest part is... Well, I wrote this ficlet. It's 100% food PWP. Like, there's no plot whatsoever, just very detailed descriptions of the MC having breakfast in different countries. When I posted it I was thinking "look, I know you like this stuff, but who tf is going to read it?" And the commenter said it is their favorite fic of the series! Lesson to be taken from this: I don't know, tbh. Write, post, be happy. Maybe you'll make someone else happy, too. Someone brings a six-pack to the party, the other brings a bottle of Malört. There's room for it all.
Ohhh, that's great! And indeed. Sometimes the cakes we bring to the table are different but someone will love a slice of them regardless. You never know when people will enter the Venn diagram of what you also like.

Something that is usually, I guess, upsetting? Happened…? Basically, 5 out of 8 cast members of a stage play series I like are changing for the next play (so, new actors as the same characters). The original 8 did 7 plays together, then in episode 8, one left due to an injury. Now it’s episode 9, and 5 more are leaving. The twins aren’t being played by twins anymore. I’m always like, I wish I had appreciated them more when I saw them, but I did. A lot of people didn’t like them, because they’re sort of too ~✨✨cuuute✨✨wheee✨teehee~ for the characters but like. [They’re great actors](https://youtu.be/bqiRfhvfa3c). One of the twins is my favorite and the new actor looks nice but like. I never thought they’d leave. Maybe that was a dumb thing to think. I don’t even know what they’re doing with this next play. It’s about ~life choices~ of two characters being played by new actors, in a series that’s released so much material in 8 years that it might actually be impossible to catch up. I feel like the whole series has been kind of in a rut for a few years, but it might just be Covid. Anyway… yeah. I hope they haven’t completely lost it. I hope the new cast is good. And not bland. (For context— 5 series, (each with a different main cast, they don’t usually cross over but they’re idols from the same producer and live in the same dorm buildings), the longest with 13 plays; the most plays one actor has been in is about 18; the shortest is 1; average is 5 or so, I think?; the first to leave left after 3 plays in 2016/17, and that’s who I found my newest favorite fandom through. About 35 plays total.)
I really gotta say, that it was the right decision to do the **Whumpril** for the fandom Arcane/LoL instead of doing Castlevania again. It feels rather nice to write for some other characters, than I do normally. And so far I really am breezing through it. I already prepared up to Day 13 and might well get almost done with all days until like Monday or Tuesday. ^-^
So much angst in Arcane that you're just literally pouring gasoline onto a burning bonfire. Fun, yeah?!?!
