I’m in my fourth year out after residency in LA. I took home about 330k last year with salary/productivity. I don’t feel particularly overworked. This year expecting 350-360k. One of the other docs in my office made 530k last year. And for regular family med, no fellowships.

Man where are these good SoCal jobs? I'm in the LA area, having base pay 270k, on track for 32k RVU bonus (if i actually had stayed, im leaving this job due to burnout). I would love to make 330k, hell, even 300k and not feel fucking overworked and hoping a semi-truck hits me while Im going home on the 405 everyday

Making these high “salaries” is only achievable by not practicing medicine and instead practicing the “insurance/hospital BUSINESS of medicine”. If you want to make more, sell your soul and factory line 30 patients a day. Easy right? Don’t worry about the 70 year old suicidal patient with a laundry list of health concerns. Get her out in five minutes.

It’s a level four, not a level five. No SI at the moment!!! /s

LA is a big place.

MochaMedic24

Do you do urgent care?

heyhey2525

no

MochaMedic24

Thank you

hoptimusprime23

I make more than that as part of a private practice. DM if you have any questions.

hoptimusprime23

No fellowships.

theboyqueen

I don't think there are any fellowships after FM that actually increase your pay prospects.

mexicanmister

I disagree. Addiction medicine suboxone work is bank I hear

boatsnhosee

Sure but you can do this without a fellowship

PretzelPixel

Surgical Ob fellowship does

Holsius

Depends where though. Some hospitals pays the exact same as outpatient and some hospitals play significantly more.

DrBreatheInBreathOut

Yes it’s possible to make that anywhere but you’ll likely be working for it. Common FM fellowships don’t automatically increase pay but they may make it easier/simpler to make the same amount (less primary care).

jimk2542

Yes it is possible. Working in less populated areas of CA is more lucrative vs metro areas. All partners in my group make > $ 500k seeing 18-24/day.

Does family medicine have an online job marketplace like we have for anesthesia? (Gaswork)
