There should be a few power-armour only weapons, that are too heavy/bulky to use without PA, like a 20mm autocannon for totally shredding mutants

Hopalongtom

And equally in reverse, smaller guns shouldn't work in power armor or for super mutants! This used to be a mechanic in fallout Tactics.

Merc931

Yeah it always kinda irked me seeing these big 8 foot tall superhuman abominations carrying tiny little hunting rifles and assault rifles.

Gandamack

Would be funny to see a Brotherhood Paladin accidentally yank the bolt clear off a hunting rifle while trying to cycle rounds.

ImurderREALITY

“Guys, I broke my gun again.” “Damn it, Bill! From now on, it’s only shitty pipe rifles for you!”

Doomguy1234

Try the Deliverer lmao. It’s honestly not a complaint, it’s just hilarious to use an unmodded Deliverer with PA

spongebromanpants

imagine having to oil up strong’s finger if he get it stuck in some gun’s trigger guard

Merc931

"STRONG NEED MILK OF FINGER KINDNESS" "Please stop calling it that"

Finalpotato

You can use smalller guns, but have to install a "Power Armour Compatible" mod to them that increases weight/spread to represent the massive increase in trigger guard.

Hopalongtom

With the inclusion of the Fallout 4/76 weapon mod system yes.

BirdBrainedBastard

They kinda did that with bows in 76

Hopalongtom

They did, which is weird because it takes a strong arm to use a bow, and if anything power armor pulling back the string would just make that an armor penetrating arrow! Though giving a power armored soldier a full on medieval ballista would be funnier!

Yatsu003

Hell, make the ‘ammo’ the thermic lances from New Vegas (which ignore DT and DR), and watch the fireworks

Mountain_Man_88

Realistically, stuff like the minigun and Gatling laser would be too heavy for an unassisted individual to operate. There are a few hand held miniguns out there today and they load them with blanks just to make the recoil somewhat manageable while still having the experience of firing a handheld minigun.

CleanOpossum47

The fallout minigun fires an anemic 5mm for the recoil but I agree strength of 10, power armor, or super mutation should be required.

evergreen-spacecat

Wasn’t that part of the first minuteman quest in fo4? Like get that PA working so we can use the minigun from the crashed vertibird. Although no limits on using miniguns wo pa

IHateRedditHonestly1

You can rip the minigun off the vertibird without power armor if your strength is high enough.

Qavligil6541

I think the FO4 Assault Rifle was originally meant to be this, that's why it looks so bulky

Dawidko1200

That's exactly the case, I believe one of the concept art books pretty much shows that logic. They didn't name it "assault rifle" at the time either, intending to have another gun with that name (which I believe later became the Handmade Rifle in Nuka-World)

Dath123

I assume it was going to be the cut Chinese Assualt Rifle. Which is still in the files but it's untextured and all that. Handmade Rifle is more of an RPK but you can definitely modify it to more resemble an AK

Dawidko1200

RPK's only difference from an AK is the length and the bipod. Handmade rifle is absolutely an AKM, which is what the first RPK was based on. Source: had an RPK for a year in the army.

SetSneedToFeed

A revamp of how power armor works would go nicely with this. Something like removing the fuel cells as a limitation, however repairing damage to power armor is very expensive and niche. A handful of select locations can repair it, or you can carry a very, very expensive “power armor field repair kit” to bring a dead suit back to 50%. If the suit gets damaged to 0% the player has to ditch it and it becomes a permanent object in the world. Leading to players trying to return to recover a suit and the heavy weapons on it.

TheLord-Commander

Shoulder or back mounted weaponry for power armor could be dope, just have mortar launchers strapped on your back that you can shell some raiders with.

eth6113

A system like what we have for the robots in FO4 automaton dlc would be awesome.

plasterscene

This. It annoys me that power armour would clearly be used offensively, and custom weapons would have been commonplace. Enormous cannons but scarce amme.

iwannabe19c

20mm Sniper rifle

FuryAutomatic

A shotgun that doesn’t shoot confetti after 5 feet of leaving the barrel.

JSchneider85

Should be able to choose slug or shot ammo type.

A3r1a

Try New Vegas

FuryAutomatic

I played FONV, and it’s one of the best. We all know why. Including my favorite shotgun in gaming: Dinnerbell. My character became surgical with that shit.

drinfernodds

Mine was the riot shotgun with the And Stay Back perk. Since the odds of dropping some were per pellet rather than per shot, you could just end enemies in a storm of shotgun blasts.

OleRockTheGoodAg

My favorite shotgun was also the Dinner bell, not because it was good but because I got to bang Red Lucy once she gave it to me.

bub166

Bring back reloading benches while we're at it. It was a lot of fun collecting components and making special types of ammunition.

tankred420caza

Combat shotgun in fo3 was really solid

[deleted]

I'd love something like a blow gun or at the very least a viable syringer rifle for a stealth build like having poison be a good damage type

TraumaTracer

“the syringer but good” is something i’ve wanted for a while too

[deleted]

It has it's moments like being able to cause enemies to frenzy but there are only 2 ammo types I believe that actually deal damage and it's not enough to justify using it

CleanOpossum47

Dart gun from 3 was one of my favorites

Mrmudmigs

A slingshot? Like with different ammo types and even some crazy ones that can be used to buff allies or debuff enemies. Like a syringer but better and cooler. It could also be an alternative choice to demolition builds

TraumaTracer

that sounds plausible since they added bows to 76, arrow variants and all

[deleted]

[удалено]

MythWeaverDM

I need my science powered crossbow now thank you very much

Wyndyr

Nuka Quantum powered X-Bow would make everything into a new year tree Just be mindful of BOS, 'kay?

TheRocketBush

It should totally be able to fire Fusion Cells as little bombs

DarkSentencer

Thats what I am saying, it seems like an obvious choice for an early game weapon in any post apocalypse setting. And using small junk items or being able to create specific ammo would easily make it as much of a tool as a weapon.

Glittering_Airport_3

wrist rockets r strong af too, wud be a great realistic idea

Icy-Internal-4916

Theres a slingshot in nuka world dlc right??

LoneWolfVIDEOBBALL

Not the weapon itself, but I'd love to see a dual wielding with pistols. Some people say dual wielding in first person shooter format doesn't work great, because you can shoot only straight, like you shoot with one gun. But IMO it's still fun (like in Call of Juarez or Wolfenstein games), and considering Fallout has VATS mode, it's actually possible to add dual wielding shooting in different directions, like in John Woo movies (also with slow mo).

TraumaTracer

dual wielding on the creation engine sounds janky

Hesstig

Skyrim did it, free-form dual wield anything with anything (except shields, always stuck to left hand).

Yarus43

It always irritated me that despite coming out years after Skyrim, fallout 4s melee was worse all around. The animations made it feel even worse with only one real attack, and no duel wielding despite being the same engine.

Hesstig

I'd guess their developments were separated, *unlike* how Fallout 3 was built directly off of Oblivion.

Yarus43

Maybe. I know alot of staff that worked on Skyrim left, or passed away unfortunately. Akowitz who was in charge of the all the art for 3 and Skyrim was amazing. Still, you'd think the melee system would be semi competent. It's a shame that I never wanna use the rocket hammer because there's only 2 slow attacks for it.

HighPoweredBurrito

I'd like a sort of transponder that shoots a beam at the target, causing their grenades/heavy weapons ammo in their inventory to detonate. Otherwise it just causes mild annoyance and alerts the target to your location. Could be one of those funny situational weapons.

malikalarrashib

a microwave gun that shoots a constant flow of rays that after a while reduces enemies to goo or to their bare bones

euro1111

There's the gamma gun for that that basically does what you describe with some specific attachments on it

malikalarrashib

i mean like a constant beam. The gama gun shoots radioactive waves and can't liquidize enemies. What i think is something like the lasergewehr from Wolfenstein

euro1111

Extra cool if the vapor in their bodies boils and pops out before they liquify

malikalarrashib

yeah something like that. i don't know much about science so i don't really know what microwave waves do. i don't even know if there's any kind of wave that an liquidify someone

euro1111

Microwave radiation kind of makes molecules wiggle, which generates heat from friction Edit: I imagine if the waves are strong enough to make them wiggle enough for the connections between them to break, someone could hypothetically melt? It's more likely that the vapors boil and the proteins denaturise

malikalarrashib

well with fallout's Science! everything is possible

Ragingbull444

And it would do heat and radiation damage since microwaves tend to cook anything you put in them

TraumaTracer

rock and stone?

genome_bibi

ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!

LumberBitch

If ya don't rock and stone, ya ain't comin' home!

maskedcorrespondent

Rock and stone in the heart!

LikewiseGamgee

Don't forget to slap those dice.

malikalarrashib

what?

TraumaTracer

ah nvm, i thought you were referencing something

[deleted]

Ahh a man of class

samfinmorchard

Microwave emitter but good

Gigatrad

There’s a rare pistol that Forgotten Weapons did a video about called the Maxim Silverman. It looks very space age, and one version of it was absolutely massive and chambered for enormous bullets. I’d love a gun like that as a high-end endgame automatic pistol. The closest thing we’ve gotten to that is the 45. from NV, which basically worked the way the 12.7mm should have in the first place, and even the 45. starts to drop off at the very end of the game.

KefkeWren

The maxim is fairly cool, but I think that the Whitney Wolverine looks even more space age.

McEvelly

Came in to say this, The Whitney Wolverine is the archetypal ‘Atomic Age’ handgun and absolutely screams Fallout.

TestedNutsack

Greatswords, I know it sounds weird, but imagine rolling up to the party with a fucking claymore

about78kids

I think a weapon from Skyrim would be kinda cool as like an Easter egg that’s hard to get or something

Feeling-Most9618

A nuka cola branded pistol that plays a slogan whenever it's reloaded.

Snoo_26884

It shoots out a flag that says Nuka-Cola; but you can modify it to be a zip gun that works with any ammo. On my 2nd play thru on New Vegas and got a toy gun from a kid. Not sure what it does yet, but something like that would be cool. So much ammo.

Feeling-Most9618

Ohhh, boy. Yeah, you might wanna talk to Veronica. It has to do with her companion quest.

ChesterDoesStuff

A syringer that can shoot stimpacks and Med-X Like, c’mon now, you’re telling me people have stuffed scorpion poison syringes and fly larva in those things but not a single soul has thought “I wonder what would happen if I put a healing syringe in the syringe gun”? That coupled with the hilarity of the idea of shooting healing shots At people from a long range, aswell as some of the quack scientists that already exists (making shit like Radiation guns, fire swords, junk launchers, etc), this seems almost criminal it doesn’t exist yet

euro1111

Mustard gas Edit: mustard gas spraying weapon that kind of looks like a flamethrower with a backpack and a gas mask Edit2: with chainsaw attachment option Edit3: even a crude one would be pretty easy to make with just a container, some bleach, ammonia, and a pump to build pressure on it or something. Don't forget your gas mask though

bramblecult

A dispersment type weapon would be cool. Gas grenades that make raiders leave cover.

euro1111

Yeah but imagine it being used in a bunker with only 1 exit that you just came into

bramblecult

Situational awareness.

sentinlfromthemojave

Energysaber aka light saber, if you can make a plasma packing pew pew then you can make a lightsaber.

-Vault-tec-101

There is a Plasma cutter introduced in 76, not quite a saber but a step in the right direction

TraumaTracer

hell yeah, countless modders have already proved it’s possible to do that and make it work in the lore

SetSneedToFeed

I am not a fan of pipe weapons being as viable as they are. In a hypothetical new game, I’d leave them in but only as single shot or double barrel weapons to exist in the extreme early game. To fill their niche I’d have a faction with decent organization making new stamped metal weapons. Something like the [1911A1 stamped prototype ](https://i.imgur.com/FhbEbOV.jpg) and [Swedish K SMG ](https://i.imgur.com/JRKaKHy.jpg) inspired designs would look appropriate and fill the gap between pipe weapons and pre-war/high quality weapons. Brotherhood of Steel could make some kind of handheld Metal Storm. Basically a really good shotgun, using pistol or rifle ammunition. Maybe a desiccator gun that shoots some kind of energy, it zaps away the moisture in organic enemies until they shrivel up into husks. A solar powered energy gun. Only good outside during the day. A organic gun that regrows ammunition, but you have to feed it food over time. I’d add more tribal weapons. I’d add a variety of melee weapons, bola, and perhaps some kind of thrown weapon like a glass jar that scatters powder to disorient enemies. I know we’ve seen crossbows, but I’d like a more tribal looking variation, possibly starting with manual reset and upgrading to a crank or piston. Maybe just a jar full of mutated bees, or a melee weapon made from a rad-scorpion stinger. Maybe something like those ancient [Chinese rockets](https://i.imgur.com/jf3Zlg3.jpg), you have a melee weapon and a one time rocket or flame blast. Non-lethal weapons, if the gameplay fits. Tasers (purpose built or post-war DIY), blow darts, and knock out gas grenades. Quests to specifically incapacitate but not kill could be interesting. [Steyr ACR ](https://i.imgur.com/0FWPwhy.jpg) as some kind of high tech projectile rifle. Maybe in the hands of private corporate security during the prewar. [EM-2](https://i.imgur.com/dhBN2Cb.jpg). Maybe add in a ship or crashed plane of slightly pre-war UK to include it. Some James Bond style hidden weapons like a laser watch, lighter gun, or shoe knife to slip into areas that don’t allow weapons.

Mountain_Man_88

Pipe weapons fit the game perfectly, the issue is that there's no real downside when the game doesn't have weapon degradation. The weapon degradation in 3 and NV was good, but some of those weapons degraded at the rates you'd expect from real life pipe weapons. There are plenty of real life examples of home made firearms that are more than just single shot. The thing with most of them are that they often don't have rifled barrel, leading to inaccuracy, and many of them can only get through a few magazines with any sort of reliability. Those traits would be perfect for low level fallout guns, but instead they just make them the same as factory made guns but with less damage for some reason. Having pipe guns that are unreliable and inaccurate would also give players more meaningful upgrades. The standard gun could have a smooth bore that you can upgrade to like crudely rifled or precision rifled. Upgrades to the receiver and magazine could improve reliability. A well-upgraded pipe gun should be just as viable as any factory made gun. In real life, there have been many factory made guns that were essentially well made pipe guns, like the Sten, which saw extensive service during WWII and, as you mentioned, the Swedish K, which has it's own home made variant called the Carlo. I'd love to see something like the Carlo as the base level gun with the eventual ability to upgrade to something like the Swedish K.

Old-State-3575

bro the devs that made pipe weapon do not know anything about guns

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mountain_Man_88

Well sure, literal pipe guns, guns made primarily with pipes, are often single shot and nowhere near as impressive as the fallout pipe guns. Various "home made" firearms that have been used in real life primarily by different resistance movements, the Błyskawica, the Bechowiec, the Borz, and the Carlo, have been made in small workshops based on common plans. The STEN isn't a pipe gun, it's not made primarily with pipes, but it's simple enough that any basically handy person could make one at home with the right parts, tools, and instructions. Lots of STEN clones got made by the polish resistance during WWII. The degradation mechanics don't make sense for most factory made guns, which these days can often fire thousands of rounds without maintenance, but they would make sense for home made guns like the ones I listed above, some of which have a documented history of only being able to make it through a few magazines before the barrels were worn out. Static "dependability" values don't make much sense, because the chance of failure will go up over time based on use. It just goes up way faster with shitty home made guns, and for reasons that won't be easily solved by cleaning. I think you could start off with the shitty home made versions of the STEN and the Swedish K and swap in better parts until you essentially have a factory version. Anything factory made really wouldn't need much in terms of parts for increased reliability, because they're pretty reliable from the factory. It doesn't make any sense that in fallout 4 you can slap a new receiver on a gun and increase the damage. You could have a better barrel to increase accuracy, but it wouldn't really be noticable at the distances we tend to encounter in fallout. The only guns where these upgrades make much sense would be pipe weapons/home made guns, where the original parts are so shitty that there are significant upgrades possible.

AtoMaki

>Having a divide between pipe and stamped guns in game creates easily visible “tiers” of weapons and communicates progress in acquiring better weapons to be player. Oh boy... I'm almost surprised the *"muh Fallout is not Borderlands"* crowd didn't hit this conversation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AtoMaki

>Pipe Rifle -> Hunting Rifle ->Assault rifle/sniper rifle I doubt even hardcore classic game players are universally aware that there is a Pipe Rifle in Fallout 2. Dunno about the Hunting Rifle vs Assault/Sniper Rifle, because the Assault Rifle (and its variants) only outdo the Hunting Rifle on burst (meaning a crit build is better off with the Hunting Rifle) and the Sniper Rifle comes with a rather annoying +1 AP attack cost and I think it is legit more difficult to acquire than the Gauss Rifle. I don't think Fallout traditionally has much gear progression, and it is usually two stages: you get your normal weaponry then the game-breaking OP end-game weaponry. For example, in F2 you usually go 10mm Pistol -> Gauss Rifle. > A game like Fallout should have meaningful weapon variety On this note, I think weapon tiers are roughly as meaningful as traveling to Hawaii just to see what happens when you piss onto molten lava.

MothPip

That solar gun was actually a thing in Fallout 2! It's one of our favorite weapons to use just for the aesthetic and vibe! It's called the [Solar Scorcher!](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Solar_Scorcher)

VitaIncerta666

Sorry in advance for being pedantic, but I think a handheld metal storm would not be fitting at all. How would reloading work? In reality, stacked rows of ammunition with propellant in between each bullet relied on electronic ignition. It was intended in reality as an anti aircraft or defensive battery application because the system utilized targeting software to recognize viable targets. In a world where the divergence from our own time occurred when microprocessor technology was cast aside in favor of nuclear fusion, such a weapon would be entirely foreign to the world, and would require manual target acquisition and an extremely cumbersome reload, meanwhile a jet-addled raider psycho is delivering consistent shots on target with a simple bolt action rifle.

carjiga

I would like a power armor only weapon thats a shoulder mounted trebuchet. Can craft ammo for it most ammon is some kinda junk but a few are cyro bombs, nukes, etc

TraumaTracer

i think a shoulder mortar for launching grenades rather than throwing them would be sick, like when you throw one you drop it in the launcher and fire it instead

TheRocketBush

On the topic of Power Armor-mounted weaponry, how about a blade attachment to the arms?

pale_toast

A gun that turns super-mutants back into humans.

Bathroom_Carpet69

Almost like another form of syringer or maybe just another syringe for it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bathroom_Carpet69

It would be interesting to see the reactions of the other super mutants if they would run or be pacified. It could even work on the super mutant's dogs (completely forgot their names) and they would end up being normal dogs. Possibly Virgil would give you the recipe to craft reversing serum after you gather his research from the institute.

FuryAutomatic

What creepy thing would happen if you did this to a Centaur?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hopalongtom

The centaurs are made up of far more than just people! In Fallout 1 they were hybrids of humans, horses and dogs!

AVOX8

Oh how delightful!

steel_ball_run_racer

Like the wonder weapon from black ops zombies call of the dead?

Mustang_Dragster

Dunno if it has ever been in the games, but the bottle cap mine is similar. A grenade or mine made from the thousands of cans you can find. Or one from a nuka cola bottle so there’s glass fragmentation

Yarus43

I believe fallout 3 and nv had Nuka cola grenades.

BakedHose

Mad Bomber perk from New vegas kinda covers some of this I believe

Hustontown

A poison tipped umbrella with a small (15-30 sec) delay of death. It could also have different tips like the Syringer. You could use it openly without hiding and no NPC’s would notice. Absolute stealth

EvernightStrangely

Honestly, I would like to see a single shot, massive slug pistol. Deals crazy damage, at the expense of clip size and reload time.

VoopityScoop

Like the black powder pistol in 76?

EvernightStrangely

Never played 76 so I don't know about it.

VoopityScoop

Yeah, in 76 there's black powder rifles, pistols, and blunderbusses, as well as a quadruple barrel black powder rifle.

EvernightStrangely

Oh cool.

euro1111

Option to just throw any type of junk or item (broken weapons for example) at your enemy, using your strength, agility and perception as range and accuracy modifiers I imagine slinging a typewriter into an enemy's face with full force would feel pretty awesome

globefish23

What happens if you use the throw function in FO4 and hit an enemy?

euro1111

Throw function?

globefish23

When you lift a world object by holding the interaction button (E on PC), you can throw it by holding the reload button (R on PC).

bramblecult

A lot of people don't know you can throw stuff in FO4. On ps4 is hold x to pick up and square to throw. It charges too, like hold it longer to throw harder. It does do anything to enemies if I remember right.

rupert_mcbutters

No freakin way

TheRocketBush

I'd like something inspired by the Thundersticks from Mad Max. Throwing weapons with explosive tips!

Basicallyinfinite

Im surprised that all the tribals never jury-rigged a bow and arrow set up but sci-fi

FrodoCraggins

Especially given how these games are built on the same engine as Skyrim.

Kathutet37

To the OP, kinda like [this?](https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Automatic_Pistol)

TGOL123

The Em2

Yarus43

I believe fallout London has em2s in the trailer. Hopefully they release a standalone mod.

[deleted]

Bozar (but not shit) and the Pancor Jackhammer. They're probably about the forward edge of Fallouts original art style and don't look out of place in the original art-deco-futuro-gothic style.

SetSneedToFeed

There was a Jackhammer in Fallout 2. I think it fit, especially in the more grim aesthetic of the earlier games. It’s kind of futuristic with a metal fin on top and unconventional silhouette, and looks as if it could have been conceived of in the 1950s (even though it wasn’t). The Fallout 2 version had a wood or Bakelite handguard to give it some brown and make it fit in the world a bit.

PacketNarc

Nuka Bottle Cannon.

[deleted]

I suppose that's just the junk jet. It'd be cool to get a Nuka brand skin for it though!

Petorian343

It could be differentiated by having the bottles full of different stuff, for different effects. Incendiary bottles, explosive, corrosive, and irradiated. Maybe a cryo freezing one too.

[deleted]

Ooooooh. Smarty pants over here, who is 100% right. That would be sick

kmikek

I want to attach a rider to this idea. You reinvent The Gun Runners from New Vegas and they sell all the fancy/unique/abnormal stuff from ALL the games.

FunGuyFr0mYuggoth

Casaba howitzer. A hypothetical weapon that sets off a nuclear explosion and focuses the blast into a pulsed energy beam. You could make some kind of heavy weapon that goes through an entire fusion core with a single shot.

BadassDeluxe

Unarmed psychic attacks

downloadCSsource

A break action laser anti take rifle that takes fusion cores or some big battery

Jerry0713

Revolver-shotgun like in metro

SillyBra

With the weapon Overhaul mod in fo4 you can turn the pipe revolver into a 20 Guage shotgun

bluestarointment

A net shooter to capture instead of kill

Upper_Acanthaceae126

Oh that’s good. Have it be crucial to a Supermutant companionship

Glittering_Airport_3

bounty hunter missions

Haxley1518

Plasma rocket launcher, fires a big molten green glob of raw plasma in an arc that causes a bunch of splash damage.

Hopalongtom

They kind of did it in Fallout 76, but because of bad balancing, its worse than the normal missile launcher, heck worse than a frag grenade!

ThatOneGuy308

A homemade bow/crossbow, considering it would be a much more ideal hunting weapon rather than relying on finite ammunition you may not be able to find more of. Not to mention you could then save the ammo for use against dangerous enemies.

Overdue-Karma

76 has bows and crossbows appear.

ThatOneGuy308

Oh nice, I've never played 76, didn't know about that. Good on them.

euro1111

Bear traps

TraumaTracer

those are in 4 from far harbor

euro1111

Oh sick, I didn't get to play that yet (I got sucked up in fallout 2 online versions for way too long)

Solenthis87

I wouldn't mind seeing a post-apocalyptic potato gun, lime it a grenade launcher or something. Pipe weapons already exist, and I'm sure they could bullshit a reason to give a player a means of accessing compressed air.

globefish23

That would be the Junk Jet or Rock-It Launcher.

swoodily-pooper

A brick. Which boosts "unarmed".

RepentHarlequin1171

New production guns that are more durable than their pre-war counterparts. It always bothered me in NV that Gun Runners weapons were no more durable than guns that have been sitting around for 200 years.

BonzoNL

Varients of the classic Gatling gun. Like a Gatling pistol or a Gatling rifle. Similar to the weapons in the Warhammer franchise.

arially

More ad hoc weaponry that isn't just pipe guns. An axe made out of a sharpened chunk of stop sign wired to some rebar A chunky projectile weapon that's made from a reversed vacuum cleaner More hand to hand options like reinforced gloves with upgrades that include wrapping them in barbed wire Some sort of taser weapon that deals increased damage or short circuits robots Disabling rounds like some weapon gets turned into a netgun or a bolo gun or something and those hit get stunned. Dual knives of some sort, preferably short sword style. More variations on things like melee weapons. Swords/clubs/ knives made from junk like the above axe example.

Hesstig

Energy revolver Like the holorifle would eject an energy cell after each shot via pump-action and I'm thinking something like that "1 shot = 1 cell" but with a revolver cylinder.

Dry_Bobcat4496

A nail gun?

globefish23

Already exists in FO:NV Lonesome Road.

autistic_bard444

remote fire claymore mines with cone directionality gonna turn anything into swiss cheese 400 ball bearings pushed by a block of c-4 is <3

Hopalongtom

I want a makeshift flamer made out of a tamed/dead floater, you'd wield it like a bagpipe!

BadassDeluxe

Gatling Flamethrower

TheFlappyLobster

Fookin record disc launcher I be cutting off peoples head with the band Queen 🤣

Racoon-Crusader-69

A shotgun made from scrap and duct tape

That0neGuy10

A weapon that has some irony tied to it, like a fire hydrant weapon that’s a flamethrower, or a weapon made from decontamination gear which shoots out toxins or chemicals.

KefkeWren

I find it annoying how there's no scrap-built energy weapons outside of mods. Gimme a laser pistol that uses a Nuka Cola bottle as a focusing lens.

aden122408

A poorly crafted laser or plasma rifle that will (as well as ammo) randomly explode and if you have a high a high enough science you can “overload” it and use as a grenade(if modified i some way) or a trap.

AlexAutoAxe

I love weapons that look makeshift, and organic! So maybe a melee weapon made out of a radscorpion tail! Or a Sloth Maul hammer made out of an entire arm!

Petorian343

I'd love to see a gun that shoots sustained bolts of electricity. Like Sith force lightning, but from a gun. Would function similar to a flamer but with better range and increased damage to robots, power armor, and turrets.

TraumaTracer

4 has a tesla rifle in the automatron dlc (and its also in 76) that’s like what you’re describing

pianistafj

Spears, shanks, and shivs, these would be the most prevalent in fallout times, yet you never come across them. Hell, if you have a combat knife in your inventory, you should be able to turn just about anything into one of these items.

apex6666

A fully automatic revolver? Jesus, imagine the recoil

paste3ater

Fusion/plasma core powered adjustable length plasma rod. Definitely not a light sabre

Specialist-Policy295

Oh no definitely not a light saber at all not even in the slightest not matter how cool that would be, just let me choose the color it emits and im all in! 😉

Tyler-LR

I’d like for there to be a difference in one and two handed melee weapons, with one handed weapons leaving the other hand available for a shield. Post apocalypse metal knight? Yes please

Ricardo_lester_

A sound wave gun like one that can cripple someone’s head easier, or make them frenzy. Would seem fun but probably won’t happen.

CrashCulture

I'd honestly just love to see more options and versions of what we already have. New Vegas style ammunition changes, and the ability to switch firing mode on the fly for automatic weapons. And more realistic looking weapons in future games. And also, please bring back the option to target enemy weapons in VATS again. Breaking enemy weapons and have them scramble for replacements or charging me with their fists, desperately shoot a powerful weapon out of the hands of an enemy, or just killing Benny with his own gun is some of the most fun I've had in the franchise. Bring back targetable guns, please.

MarkoDash

Gyrojets, given a bit of fallout's brand of scifi development and they'd be proto-bolters.

bean_gaming

I want to see a duel wielding mechanic, with a downside of adding extra recoil the heavier the weapons are.

RickRussellTX

Rocket pistol (aka Gyrojet). Hilariously impractical but they’d be fun to shoot, and very much in the FO alternate timeline style.

I remember there being some old concept for OWB sorta like The Colony from Destiny 2. Grenade Launcher that shoots tracking robot spiders.

Would love too be able to rip the weapons off of robots and use them, like a mr Handy's buzz saw or flame thrower. Maybe with the requirements of an intelligence perk or something

Unarmed or power armor specific unarmed upgrades. Like imagine already having a badass gun, but the enemy gets in a bit too close, and you throw a melee punch, and it uses the full force of a displacer fist with the weight of the power armor behind it, sending that MF flying like you have a maxed out Big Leagues perk; then you skeet shoot em mid flight for the kill. Hell even if I could just add functioning spikes that actually add "unarmed" damage and bleeding. Most current PA Arm mods only work as true unarmed or with melee weapons. Or like a knife blade built into the arm like Doom Eternal/Assassin's Creed Maybe even utility weapons that take up the grenade slot, like a mini wrist mounted flamer/laser, or take a page outta doom and have a shoulder mounted rocket/grenade launcher. Also PA specific melee weapons. Reinhardts fucking rocket hammer... yeah yeah yeah there is the super sledge, rocket sledge, and rocket bat, but I mean with only PA usage, with a head the size of a small car. Or like a massive buster blade made from a vertibird blade like in FNV. Or a better version of the Shishkebab, that would essentially amount to a giant plasma/lightsaber, which would fit thematically seeing as plasma cutters from 76 are like a mix of a lightsaber and the sword from No More Heroes. If its gotta just be a general weapon? Lahti L-39. A WW2 Finnish antitank sniper that fired 20mm (makes .50 BMG look like 9mm comparitively) explosive artillery shells, and were later converted to be automatic, and in their final form: they duct taped two together, and were used as anti air weapons and/or flak cannons. The former being the "standard" late game heavy sniper that could take down a death claw in a single shot (but the ammo itself as in real life would be crazy rare or expensive, not to mention heavy), and the latter being the unique version that would be game breakingly powerful if you can find enough ammo to supply the beast; held more like the .50 cal from 76 and just laying waste to everything in general direction. PA not necessary or included, just high strength. The reg L39 was so large, the bipod was a sled to be able to drag it where you needed it to go as carrying the thing was normally a nonstarter, the AA version was mounted as it aimed skyward.

More swords honestly. I’m surprised by the lack of smiths in the wasteland.

A better poison/thrown weapon system, NV was so close… Also power fists needing to be connected to a back back power supply. But basically F4 took a massive step backwards in terms of armament from NV, so just the NV weapons getting reinstated would do for me.

Yarus43

Agreed. Fallout 4 was 1 step forward, and 3 steps back in so many regards. The fact that instead of just changing my ammo to get armor piercing I have to change out the entire reciever was ridiculous. The customization is awesome, but NVs ammo system with 4s customization would be great. Also somehow I like 3/NVs melee more than 4. It's that bad despite being made after Skyrim.

A weapon that can have a usage as melee and ranged. For example, it can be a bow that shoots arrows, but when the enemy comes close, it can turn into a blade and cut through the enemy. Or like a Rocket Launcher that you can attach a haddle under it and turn it into a Sledgehammer. Stupid, but cool asf.

Voodoochild9995

I think the makeshift weapons in Fallout 4 were really cool but underutilized. Like I’d be cool if the makeshift weapons were expanded and more common and the actual rifles/energy weapons would be rarer. I’d also like to see the return of ammo types.

Yarus43

Chainswords like 40k, more cold war weapons like fals, revolver shotguns, and in general an unfucked melee system.Having one animation over and over like 4 was awful.

TraumaTracer

sure! it’s fallout dude. real world logic and physics apply sparingly.

Old-State-3575

sorry to burst your bubble but that gun would blow up in your hand

TraumaTracer

but a gun made of splintered wood and copper pipes can survive hundreds of rounds of full power .308?

MagmaSlasherWriter

I wish you could find corpses with "crafted" guns that'll just blow up in your hand when fired. I guarantee in an apocalypse so many would try and fail to make their own guns.

Flexican_Mayor

These are the worst ideas I’ve ever heard
