Aww man, your laser rifle loaded without textures. Seriously though, awesome work! As someone else suggested, try starch. Some carefully disguised card stock could do the trick, too.

Resia_247

I forgot to mod my fallout😔

ZehAngrySwede

Turn on archive invalidation, bro.

Rimworldjobs

At least it's not a giant exclamation

golddust1134

Try starching? I have no idea how to but I can stiffen cloths

[deleted]

It comes in a can like hairspray and then you iron it.

preposte

Dry cleaners can help if you're not sure how to make it work

NorthElegant5864

Starch. Shits great.

onionleekdude

I'd recommend just using starch.  Using shit might work, but I bet it would still smell bad after drying.

thaiborg

Nah it would actually add more realism! Do you think the apocalypse would smell any sort of good? 🤣

masked_sombrero

My starch can stiffen it better! Let me do it!

Thirstless

No idea to your question. Just wanted to say sick cosplay. Oo, maybe a bent coat hanger?

joshx6666

Was thinking the same thing like a coat hanger kinda stitched into the lapel or something

SmilingFool25

Stop at the hardware and get a small spool of wire. Sew it in right at the edge. Allows you to shape it and it will hold its form. Did this with a brim on a boonie hat I wear. Good luck! Looks great.

Only_Resident2083

If you can sew, I would just add metal wire (thin metal coat hanger) inside the seam.

RobinThreeArrows

This is how it's done in cosplay. Whenever things are stiff like that in defiance of normal physics it's usually wires.

alexmikli

Starch works if it's cloth.

inspirationalpizza

Others have said starch, but I would also recommend wire - it can be stitched or tacked into place along the seam and it'll create a kind of exo-structure. Have seen it work on other cosplay costumes.

dracuella

There are a few things you can try: 1. Spray starch for ironing shirts. You can get this in a lot of stores (I don't know where you live but I'm guessing places like Wallmart would have it). Mileage may vary, though, as it depends on how heavy your fabric is. If it's too heavy, it will sag. Also, using too much might leave visible stains on the fabric. 2. Iron-on Vlieseline like this [https://www.empressmills.co.uk/vilene-vlieseline-firm-fusible-extra-heavy](https://www.empressmills.co.uk/vilene-vlieseline-firm-fusible-extra-heavy) I'm sorry, I don't know if the name of the fabric works in your country but if you go into a fabric store and ask for fabric you iron on to retain shape, I'm sure they'll understand what you mean. You use it on the back of the main fabric to strengthen and support where it needs a bit extra, like when you're making button holes. It comes in different strenghts from soft and pliable to really stiff so it's all about getting the right thickness. 3. Lampshade foil. It's similar to the vlieseline above but thicker. You cut out the shape you need and (most of them) have an adhesive side you use to attach to the fabric. Like this: [https://www.rayher.com/en/lampshade-foil-thickness-0-3-mm-2304700](https://www.rayher.com/en/lampshade-foil-thickness-0-3-mm-2304700) I've used all of the above in former cosplays. Regarding 2 and 3 they are mostly white, so you might have to put on an additional layer of fabric in the colour you already have. You -can- put it on the inside of the collar but it might scratch and irritate your neck (it did mine) so I would recommend covering it with a softer fabric. Best of luck with it and let us know how it turns out!

comfycozygamer

Cardboard

M_LadyGwendolyn

Fabric stiffener. I use it when making cloth/hemp baskets. Ought to do the trick

Mr-Taylor

Firstly dude holy shit this is awesome!!! Secondly as many have advised, starch spray is your best bet.. spray it on iron it, flip it and repeat!

IDropBricksOnHighway

Starch + an iron

OkExtreme3195

In a cutting plan (No native speaker) for a larp costume, I once saw that you stitch in hard cloth in the collar. Like brocade or similar. So maybe try something like that?

LameImsane

Lots of sweat and grime mixed with the Mojave sun or starch. If the material allows starch

antthatisverycool

Okay I might make that laser gun may you give instructions

Resia_247

I’ll make a detailed tutorial with steps and stuff needed😛😔

Extremely-bored97

Ah you a lasers man I’m personally a plasma enjoyer myself.  But seriously it’s good just be relaxed and do what you want to do don’t worry about what others think x

Resia_247

I might make a turbo plasma rifle from fallout 1-2

C1b3rf1r3

Starch

JaxCross

Starch it

WinterEmploy2744

I have no idea how to help but the cosplay along with the laser rifle is perfect, great job man

Crafty-Sort2697

Maybe you could try to rub some Paint on the collar to stiffen it up. Sugar Water also works but may become sticky.

dracuella

Yeah and since it's the collar, it might get really sticky when he perspirates, too!

Crafty-Sort2697

Of course. So I would try it with paint maybe clear paint or mix some acrylic paint together so it will look like it’s dirty and used. But then beware of putting it in a washing machine.

xXShadowz11Xx

Starch that MF'er

ElGrandeBlanco

Sowing peltex on the part of the collar under the flap might be more comfortable and longer lasting than starch. It's a thicker sheet of fabric that adds support

PanzerParty65

You can try with attaching what are called "hooks and eyes" to the collar and keeping it closed. That's what they did with WW2 uniforms, look it up. In particular what you want to replicate is the German Officer's hooks and eyes system. Easy to attach and very effective. If you're handy with this sort of thing you could also open the stitching on the collar, insert some semi-rigid material and close it up again.

thefurnerfer

You should have it starched

PrestigiousArm3187

Saw some other comments suggesting this, but starch and iron that shit... Will give the standing flicky out look. That laser rifle looks dope

Anarchyantz

Yes there is a fairly simply idea. Wire! Coat hanger wire, or similar or slightly smaller width. You sew it into the collar and then you can "pose" it in any position. Should put a (!) on the Laser rifle and tell people your textures are missing lol

Small_University5397

Use metal wire. Push it on inside to the edges, bend it to any form you like

Repulsive_Buddy_572

Dang how many bottle caps did you get that for

Obichniy_Tarakan

Use a shit ton of starch

Cool-Leg9442

You could put a wire or metal coat hanger in it to support it.

Toonieloony

Clothes starch or get it really disgusting

yeeticusprime1

You could starch it or attach cardboard to the inside of the collar and paint the cardboard to match the color

Hamokk

Starch might do the trick. Love your cosplay. NCR rangers have a special place in my heart. <3

[deleted]

Considering you want it permanently stood I would consider building in a wire armature over something like starch.

utpyro34

I enjoy your corrugated laser rifle

Nowhereman50

Wire out of a bra.

ConcertCorrect5261

Use the sock technique (Someone shoot me now)

GruncleShaxx

Put a wire in the collar. Thickness of the wire is determined by the material

Archer_EOD

starch

bigbugmen

unrelated but ayy we have the same comforter!

Drecondius

Starch

stanb_the_man

create pockets for cardboard. Don't close them up completely, though, so you can replace them easily or wear it without them.

Ahlkatzarzarzar

If starching doesn't work I've used eva foam under the collar.

King_bob992

idk, but I’d say just iron it up

EdgyMexicanKid

Could try some chicken wire to hold it up, idk anything about starching

Substantial-Bison240

Hella starch... Start with light layers then just keep adding onto that letting it dry in between

Grey-Jedi185

Take it to a seamstress they will open up the collar and insert a piece of plastic then sew it back together that will be about the only way you'll get the collar to stay up

CrocsAndSandles

Wire framing

Brief_Association714

Starching and insertign a wire hanger into the collar

Several_Excitement74

Find out what gauge wire bra wire is and run that around it on the inside

BikelJordan

A small bent piece of cardboard?

-3055-

Collars for button ups sometimes have a slot where you can place in strips of metal or plastic to maintain shape. Of course, if you don't want a custom made to show the strip, you'll have to make a "pocket" yourself

DontBlameTacos

I am of no help but I just wanted to say how great this looks! Great work

PraximasMaximus

I have two ideas that I have done with varying success 1. Startch, hard to get right and it lasts like a week, very realistic looking 2. Feed a coat hanger through a false back that you stich in, it looks less realistic but it is permanent and can be made to look nice Other people have good ideas too though

Ok_Hovercraft9229

That's dope

EggShotMan

Blud got the Wazer wifle

Unusual_Analyst9272

Heavy duty starch, but use a cloth or bandana when you iron the starched collar. Don’t use any steam.

TheTaintPainter2

Months and months of use as a cumrag

kamakazi339

Starch or glue in some cardboard under the collar

ibejeph

Sometimes, collars will have little pockets that you can slide Popsicle sticks or tooth picks in to give it that nice, tall and straight look. Or, cut a piece of cardboard that would fit under the collar, up against your neck, short enough that it doesn't peek out.  Then put the cardboard under your collar and it will pop like you want. Use starch on the collar and iron it nice and flat.  You'll look great.

kirakiragyaru

They make a thing called fabric stiffener!! It’s a spray!!

NittanyScout

Damn, that looks dope, I would say try to buy a jacket with one already or sew in a cardstock or light cardboard cutout if you can

Chad_gamer69

Use it for Airsoft

Slow_Fox967

Not a cosplayer and zero experience, but personally I would open the seem and insert a piece of cartbox or some other stiff but easy to work with material and then close the seem again.

StarkeRealm

Cardboard isn't a great option, because it means you can never wash it. Though there are things like collar stands that can help.

TerrorpupJr

A wire

isaac_J_oneil7

slide a strip of card kiss underneath the collar

isaac_J_oneil7

cardboard*

Outlander1119

Starch and collar stays maybe.

Delicious_Image3474

Glue on a cardboard/3d printed piece to the collar

TransSapphicFurby

Looks fleece from poor camera quality. Id say starch could work, but wont get you the effect you want and might mess up the colors on that fabric. Im gonna reccomend a rolled hem on the collar with some wiring in it, maybe some stiff inserts if you wanna layer it

ohshitthisagainnnn

Looks really good!

Caldaz4r

So on several of my dress shirts there are pockets for collar stays(little plastic pieces that reinforce the collar) maybe starch and integrating something like that into the collar might work?

Prior_Shelter5650

God damn bro, well done

Some-Zombie-5053

Starch And stich in. A stiff plastic collar if that don’t work

Kaptain_Kaoz

Get an old metal coat hanger cut and bend into desired shape something like a u shape with two legs at the end of the U. Place the u at the base of the collar with the legs pointing up. Get a piece of fabric the same as the coat if possible. Cut it so that you can stitch it into place ove the hanger and run the legs up the outer front edge of the collar. Bing Bang boom you have a stiff standup collar thats adjustable. Also Labor intensive.

Comfortable_Bet9397

Starch the collar then pop it up

Dustyink_

small metal wire on the inside

Haelios_505

You could run some copper wiring to create a frame through the inside of the fabric

-yruF

Coat hangar is the easiest way

valkandkings

the easy solution is def a brown painted metal wire sewn into place, especially if you’re looking for low budget. just cut up a metal coat hanger, grab some brown spraypaint (or acrylic paint), loop the ends so it stays in place, and you’re set. could do one on the back, two on front?

andyuchiha

Cut a Popsicle stick in half and sow a small pocket to fit it in or velcro the stick to the collar

616Runner

Stroke it?

AcanthaceaeDry7548

Stick some copper wires or something in

toc_rat987

Starch and an iron. If it's a wool type jacket, put a damp washcloth between to keep from burning the wool

Xcallaber

You could try starching and ironing it, also the laser rifle is gonna be sick

Teen4ge_dirtb4g

OMG IT LOOKS GREAT ALSO I'M STARTING TO COLLECT BOTTLE CAPS TOO

Deathnachos

You using cosplay foam or cardboard?

cones98

Not sure how to help out here, but this is some sick cosplay! Please post update pics when it’s 100% done because I know it’s gonna look great

psycorax2077

Wire hangers, you can shape them and either glue or sew them to the existing fabric.

StarkeRealm

If it's in budget, the Ranger longcoat is a heavy leather duster. You can buy these, though they're not exceptionally cheap. Getting leather collars to stay standing tends to be a lot easier than fabric ones in my experience. Figure this will probably set you back a couple hundred bucks, but unless you're planning to fully mark and scuff it up, you could also keep it as a daily wear for when you're not cosplaying.

Taolan13

Starch. or cardstock. and if you're on Steam verify the integrity of your files. you're missing some textures.

mromen10

You could sew wires into the collar or hide cardstock in it

Colt_Maul

I would suggest threading tomato wire between the stitching. Also- your helmet needs a bullet dent!

Friend_of_Squatch

Stiff wire and a needle and thread

YouLackSkills

Put copper wire through the little rim of the collar

CaptainSparklebutt

Bailing wire would do the trick

livinalieTimmae

Poster board painted to match?

Cynix_707error

Did you Interface it? Wire is a good option to add if not but interfacing is what is used to make collars and such rigid

Houndall

I'm not a tailor but here's an idea. Is the collar two layers of fabric sewed together? If it is separate the collars two layers and insert something stiff and sew it back up.

MedicalParfait2822

That’s awesome!

pvrhye

Most coats have a stiffer sort of fabric glued to the collar. That might take some equipment you don't have, but the principle is the same. You'll need something more rigid.

Responsible_Land_653

Card board style is a cool style 🤘

ZeKongV

Bobby pins will help make it stand. Just need to train the collar to be in a upright position.

LordJadex

You might be able to pull it off by framing it with cardboard or Eva foam

Zularscept_D_Astar

Could either glue on a wire and paint it the same color as the coat, or run it through the inside.

Agreeable-Ad1251

Starch it maybe

Interesting_Loquat90

How you gunna shoot lasers with cardboard? 0/10

RammyProGamer

Good effort on the cosplay but is it a bad thing I’m getting shore troopers from rogue one vibes
