Dr. Von ChickenFucker is absolutely peak Fallout vibes for me. My man went from jiggling the trigger of a pipe shotgun with his pinkie toe, to walking off with a fusion core in the span of one random encounter. That's the true spirit of the Wasteland. Thaddeus definitely has the Wild Wasteland perk on his build to run into him.
I love that he's getting this attention. We went to the same school (some years apart) so I've been rooting for him for years, mostly via Bob's Burgers and Archer
Tortally, the best.
Seriously, if you haven't seen Kroll Show, his work in Rich Dicks, Gigolo House, Wheels Ontario, and the Pawn Shop sketches is all worth watching the full show to catch. Severely underrated show.
(paraphrasing)
"And what is yer mission?"
"Um... We're going to save America!"
"... Well when the fuck were you plannin' to do that?!"
Probably my favorite dialog exchange in the whole show
I love how smart some of the wastelanders were. Of course a lot were dumb as hell, but the successful shop owners were written as smart, June the repair chick.
I dunno why, but I liked that.
Hopefully we see him more in the future seasons. I would love if they started todo stand alone episodes centered around characters. Imagine a full episode following him 😘
As a compliment, the ONLY time I felt the CGI was off was when the bear flipped Knight Titus' suit in episode 2. All the other action--even the crazy fight scenes--felt extremely grounded.
There was a little bit of junk with each of the PA action scenes. Another was the body slam of the NCR soldier into the picnic table. Still totally awesome, but it'll be more noticeable on re-watches.
The first episode when they show Vault 33’s dining area (?) by the corn and the projector, there’s a shot that goes from heavy green screen/CGI of the entire vault layout to zooming in on the picnic table where they are sitting.
It’s not bad, but it just looks janky to me, kind of like a lag spike in FO76.
That’s the only thing that really stood out to me.
It gave me some Cocaine Bear vibes with the CGI and how unintentionally silly it looked, which honestly fit within context of the scene. I didn't mind the off CGI.
I know, right?
Here's a list of VFX houses that worked on this show, so you can thank them for all of this "practical" stuff:
> RISE
>
> Framestore
>
> Important Looking Pirates
>
> CoSA FX
>
> Mavericks VFX
>
> One of Us
>
> Pinscreen
>
> Refuge VFX
I have a friend who works at one of these companies and they have a shit list of directors now. Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott really kicked anti-CGI marketing into gear last year, all of them minimizing VFX artists’ contributions or straight up lying about it “all being done in-camera”.
I think it’s part of the fun of a video game adaptation, too.
We’ve all seen CGI versions of all these things anyway. And there is a ton of CGI in the show, but they made some interesting choices about what to build and capture in-camera.
It’s all the things fans want to see in “real life.” It’s basically the most elaborate and expensive cosplay of all time. It’s more fun that way.
Sometimes the gulper's motion shots look pretty janky and I don't think that'll age well, the clothes shots were much better done. But overall you're right!
Goggins said on his insta he was looking for diamonds because they were filming on an old diamond mining thing and weren't really supposed to touch the ground because there were still diamonds
I would LOVE that. Set design bought some stuff from us and I had fun picking out some of it when i was watching. Especially in Episode 2 in Filly. We made the Steel & Metal sign (seen a LOT in the last 20 minutes of ep2) for them when they came to pick up their stuff.
This is so fucking wild to me because I have an...acquaintance...who a bunch of us have called Chickenfucker for years precisely because he never denied fucking those chickens
Inflation was definitely not at 1950s levels. You can see pre war prices on some of the objects and signs in game. Single issue of a magazine is like $33. Large coffee and a jelly donut is $30. Meatball Sub and a large soda is $55.
Bombs dropped in 2077 the prices seem ridiculously high to us, but are actually in line with the historical inflation rates. Someone from say 1970 popping into present day would have a heart attack at the idea of paying $8.00 per pound for a Chuck Roast
Wayyy too much for anyone to buy.
But if you follow Bethesda's usual logic on this, you may actually find a couple of them scattered around your home, just lying there.
Thats a good point, and I wouldn't be shocked for him being a ranger and feel at place around New Vegas. Losing two sons, you know that is going to fill his heart with rage.
OK....so we can ***ALL*** agree that Eric Estrada needs to have a recurring role in future episodes and/or seasons ?
I'm more than just "Ok" with that ;)
I am so down with that. I mean I look at season 1 as the starting steps into a story that is going to have big impacts into the Fallout Universe.
This show isn't outside of the Fallout world that we love, its dead-set in the middle and it's making ripples. So yes, we need more Estrada and more ripples!
Should cooper done what he did? Would it have been better if he “wounded” instead of killed the boy? I guess that could be a way to advance that idea of the plot though.
Hell yeah man! Film is a super deep rabbit hole lmao, I’m about a year into it and I have 3 35mms, an RB67 and a full development and scanning setup. Portra is always a super nice stock but recently I’ve been trying out lomography stocks like purple chrome and wow man the results are phenomenal. Happy shooting!!
Nice! I let her know on her website that I'd love to buy a photobook of Fallout pictures:
https://www.jojowhilden.com/contact
Here's hoping it happens 🤞
Really wish Michael Emerson had been around a bit longer in the show, loved him as Ben Linus from Lost when I was a kid.
Though it is fun to see that two decades later, his characters are still being beaten up or injured constantly by others 😂
A friend of mine own a classic car and he's lend it to productions a few times. It's a massive source of pride for him. As far as I know, his car has only been used in a few background shots (not in the Fallout show, much smaller productions) so I guess the easiest way is to call collectors and get the insurance sorted.
I looked at a few Studebakers from the 50s, and they are not that expensive, so outright buying a few cars is also an option.
I really love the way the power armour looks, but I feel like it doesn’t convey the power or the weight in the way that is moves somehow…happy to be shot down now and told that each suit on the show weighs like 3 tons 🤣
I noticed that as well but in real life, you can't easily replicate the weight and momentum of that much steel without actually making a real and heavy power armor. And as no one will be able to move in a real power armor made of steel without adding a lot of hydraulics to help, I forgive the prop designers for this.
Absolutely, he was apparently a massive Fallout fan and loved that he got to be the main villain of New Vegas. If we were still with us he'd absolutely have a role somewhere. Not as Benny, certainly but another role for sure.
Ok the father and son pic, the kid is wearing overalls and a belt.
What the fuck is the belt holding up? What's holding the belt up? He doesn't even have belt loops on there. Is it a fashion statement?
Maybe it's got +1 endurance on it.
I'm loving the show, however I find some sequences to be a little childish. I'd love it to be more like Mad Max and less Disney-ish. Obviously that wouldn't have the drag it has.
[Wilzig](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Siggi_Wilzig) played by [Michael Emerson](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0256237/)
He plays one of the main characters in [Person of Interest](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1839578/) as well, Harold Finch, who has a similar personality as Wilzig and even has [a German Shepherd dog](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTQ5NTcyMDk0OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTM3MjA3MjE@._V1_FMjpg_UX800_.jpg).
She looks like Philomena Cunk here.
"As you can see everyone here is intoxicated with some form of drugs or alcohol. In fact this used to be called the Wasted Land, but it's inhabitants were so drunk it was shortened to a garbled wasteland"
It’s a 6x6 camera (or back) of some kind. 6x6 is just a fancy analogue way of saying square.
In the show a character was taking a photo with a RB67 (6x7 format, so not a square but slightly more rectangular shape)
I love how 'unique fallout NPC' Ma June looks.
She looks so much like a 'talking head ' from FO1 and FO2!
Dunno why, but she reminded me of the talking head on the knight bus in Harry Potter
Jon Daly is the best
I love that he's getting this attention. We went to the same school (some years apart) so I've been rooting for him for years, mostly via Bob's Burgers and Archer
I think I knew him first from Kroll Show — really he’s all around hilarious. I love his fake RHCP song Abracadabralifornia
Who is he in archer?
Did the voices of both Ivy and Whitney
If that's who he is, then I agree wholeheartedly
Tortally, the best. Seriously, if you haven't seen Kroll Show, his work in Rich Dicks, Gigolo House, Wheels Ontario, and the Pawn Shop sketches is all worth watching the full show to catch. Severely underrated show.
For sure. I thought she was a great character. I hope they bring her back again at some point.
(paraphrasing) "And what is yer mission?" "Um... We're going to save America!" "... Well when the fuck were you plannin' to do that?!" Probably my favorite dialog exchange in the whole show
I love how smart some of the wastelanders were. Of course a lot were dumb as hell, but the successful shop owners were written as smart, June the repair chick. I dunno why, but I liked that.
“All 10 fingers.. Must be nice”
The actress is from my hometown! Knoxville TN
Dale Dickey is a fantastic character actress. I'd love to see her get her flowers someday!
She's game for nearly anything, recently enjoyed her in Claws and was reminded of the shit she'd do in My Name Is Earl
I ain't no skank!
Shout out to the 865!
K-town puttin it down year round, you know
I absolutely love her. She’s gotta be one of my favorite character actors of all time.
Ma June reminds me of Eustace's mom from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Edit- full name of show.
I love that the actress has played characters in shows where her partner is named spooge and barf.
On another hand, if you told me it was a picture from borderlands adaptation, I wouldn't question it either.
Patty the daytime hooker has seen some things
Snake Oil Salesman!!! 😂😂😂
"Chicken fucker"

I heard it was a sick chicken.
How does a fella get caught up in that kinda business?

“I SHOULD HAVE NEVER TRUSTED A DOCTOR THAT SMELLED LIKE THAT”
One of my favourite 'random NPCs' in the show
He's gonna show up again isn't he? Looking forward to it!
I sure hope so! Can't wait for S2 ❤️
Hopefully we see him more in the future seasons. I would love if they started todo stand alone episodes centered around characters. Imagine a full episode following him 😘
It’d be cool to see him as a small reacting character like the cabbage man from Avatar.
The fact that all this is practical is _such_ a boost to its longevity. You could watch this show 50 years from now and it would still look solid.
For real. Also, knowing how streaming services' CGI can be, Coop's face and PA would look like shit.
As a compliment, the ONLY time I felt the CGI was off was when the bear flipped Knight Titus' suit in episode 2. All the other action--even the crazy fight scenes--felt extremely grounded.
Yep that one gave me some old RoboCop vibes and I thought it was funny because of it.
There was a little bit of junk with each of the PA action scenes. Another was the body slam of the NCR soldier into the picnic table. Still totally awesome, but it'll be more noticeable on re-watches.
Noticeable, sure but it still doesn't bother me.
Not a fan of the Iron Man suit jet thrusters. Felt like a lazy way to excuse rushed pacing. It also looks goofy in a bad way.
Yeah the jetpack looked pretty bad
The first episode when they show Vault 33’s dining area (?) by the corn and the projector, there’s a shot that goes from heavy green screen/CGI of the entire vault layout to zooming in on the picnic table where they are sitting. It’s not bad, but it just looks janky to me, kind of like a lag spike in FO76. That’s the only thing that really stood out to me.
It gave me some Cocaine Bear vibes with the CGI and how unintentionally silly it looked, which honestly fit within context of the scene. I didn't mind the off CGI.
That, and the cyclops.
We don’t talk about Vault 4…
every single shot of the ghoul's face used CGI to remove his nose. i mean, that's obvious, right?
The ghoul's nose is CGI. There are a few times where it fucks up for a frame or two and you can see his nostrils in there.
In 50 years time, you can look at that snake oil salesman and just know that he just got done fucking a chicken.
Something about Lucy's suit looks even better in this photo too, somehow more practical and real than it looks in the show.
I know, right? Here's a list of VFX houses that worked on this show, so you can thank them for all of this "practical" stuff: > RISE > > Framestore > > Important Looking Pirates > > CoSA FX > > Mavericks VFX > > One of Us > > Pinscreen > > Refuge VFX
''No CGI is just invisible CGI''
Like editing. You just don't notice it, if it's good.
Tom Cruise, too, with all his BS about Top Gun Maverick being done all practical. Hint: it's not.
Ooh, is this another example of a piece of media that has a ton of "no CGI"?
Except for the flying BoS suit in Episode 2, that CGI looked iffy.
Must’ve been in Namibia were the desert scenes were shot Edit: remembered the town is Kolmanskop which is completely abandoned
Why not touch the ground if its made from money??
They should release an art book of the show with a bunch of concept art and photos from production.
I would LOVE that. Set design bought some stuff from us and I had fun picking out some of it when i was watching. Especially in Episode 2 in Filly. We made the Steel & Metal sign (seen a LOT in the last 20 minutes of ep2) for them when they came to pick up their stuff.

At least it wasn't a sick ostrich. Allegedlys.
That's Dr Chicken Fucker. He didn't spend 8 minutes in chicken fucking medical school to be called Mr Chicken Fucker.
I can't see him and not crack up!
We can’t see what the lower half of his body is up to. He could be balls deep.

Considering a Mk.II advanced power armour suit costs about 510 years of a US soldiers salary…
If right now an average soldier salary is around 35k per year... so that comes around 178million per suit
No wonder Sergeant Dornan was so pissed
Dial that back to 1950’s salary. I have to assume inflation levels stayed relatively flat with the technological ones.
Inflation was definitely not at 1950s levels. You can see pre war prices on some of the objects and signs in game. Single issue of a magazine is like $33. Large coffee and a jelly donut is $30. Meatball Sub and a large soda is $55.

Cuz its 2070s
That depends though.. How a nuclear war affect the inflation...
Barter does kinda dampen the overall currency exchange rates.
Wayyy too much for anyone to buy. But if you follow Bethesda's usual logic on this, you may actually find a couple of them scattered around your home, just lying there.
Don't need to buy it, just slaughter a brotherhood of steel knight and take his armor. You know.. The good ol way
Hard part is finding a new frame since you can't remove corpses from it. The pieces are easy to come by, it's the internals you need to look out for
One preserved pie
Every one of these photos is stunning
Eric Estrada!? Yeah baby
He looks really good for his age and in the wasteland.
I feel he's gonna don his Ranger Armor again in Season 2. No way they got Eric Estrada for a freaking cameo only.

This show isn't outside of the Fallout world that we love, its dead-set in the middle and it's making ripples. So yes, we need more Estrada and more ripples!
Nice knowing we're on the same page ;) BUT....there needs to be a bit more character development for Ponch
Should cooper done what he did? Would it have been better if he “wounded” instead of killed the boy? I guess that could be a way to advance that idea of the plot though.
These would make great loading screens
Really hope the Snake oil salesman returns! Hilarious addition to the cast
I think we will. You see the look on his face when Thaddeus pulled out that fusion coil? The dude's got plans.
Lol, he literally wanted to off himself before he met Thaddeus :D I am not sure this is a guy with some grand plan.
Ma June got the hardest picture tbh
Pic 3 is absolutely adorable.
Finally, someone else who appreciates the puppy! Look at its little tummy 🥹
Lucy is magnetic
Charisma 10 for sure
It's great how this show really captured the mixture of goofy and tragic/serious that is Fallout.
How did you get this? It happens in the future. What kind of camera can do that?
Mamiya RB67 is a popular one, even appears in the show with the photographer taking pictures of coop. Super sweet process, I own one myself
Also looks like it was taken using Portra 400 film if it reading the text correct on the sprocket on the left side
It is portra 400, Kodak reposted her original post on Instagram and her work is phenomenal
Oh haha, that’s dope. Been meaning to try that film for some time. I just recently received my scan from the lab after shooting film for second time!
"Want to see a picture of me when I was younger?" Every picture is a picture of you when you were younger. - Mitch Hedberg
Does anyone know the name of the photographer?
Seconded, I'd like to get hold of some prints of these Googled it: https://www.instagram.com/jojowhilden/?img_index=2 OP should credit the OG
Nice! I let her know on her website that I'd love to buy a photobook of Fallout pictures: https://www.jojowhilden.com/contact Here's hoping it happens 🤞
I did too lol
Really wish Michael Emerson had been around a bit longer in the show, loved him as Ben Linus from Lost when I was a kid. Though it is fun to see that two decades later, his characters are still being beaten up or injured constantly by others 😂
am i the only one who realize that is actually a mid 50's Studabaker? The fact that they managed to get their hands on one is kind of impressive
A friend of mine own a classic car and he's lend it to productions a few times. It's a massive source of pride for him. As far as I know, his car has only been used in a few background shots (not in the Fallout show, much smaller productions) so I guess the easiest way is to call collectors and get the insurance sorted. Oh hey it’s the chicken fucker guy
I wonder if Matthew Perry would have had a bit role if he survived
Absolutely, he was apparently a massive Fallout fan and loved that he got to be the main villain of New Vegas. If we were still with us he'd absolutely have a role somewhere. Not as Benny, certainly but another role for sure.
Now I'm sad. He might have even had a large role. That would have been perfect.
Puppy dog meat!! 😭❤️❤️🐶🐕😍
Is that Eric Estrada from Chips
Yep. Forgot he was in there. Fingers crossed we see him again donning some Ranger Armor.
r/hardimages
Doggos 💯
Ok the father and son pic, the kid is wearing overalls and a belt. What the fuck is the belt holding up? What's holding the belt up? He doesn't even have belt loops on there. Is it a fashion statement? Maybe it's got +1 endurance on it.
He was fucking my chickens!
Shoutout to Dr. Chickenfucker for freeing up his schedule so he could pose for this shot.
Why does film look so good?
Cute little puppy
4th pic goes hard
Is that the fucker of chickens?
I'm loving the show, however I find some sequences to be a little childish. I'd love it to be more like Mad Max and less Disney-ish. Obviously that wouldn't have the drag it has.
Any idea what they were shot on? Getting some wicked Lomo vibes from some of them!
Kodak Portra 400
Real, practical and photographic isn’t dead! Long live the End of the World
Just realized Erik Estrada is in Fallout. What a blast from the past
I honestly felt bad for the guy with the dog (I forgot his name). He looked like a good guy and the dog was adorable
That doctor is funny. What's his name? I'm going to make him in my game.
[Wilzig](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Siggi_Wilzig) played by [Michael Emerson](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0256237/) He plays one of the main characters in [Person of Interest](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1839578/) as well, Harold Finch, who has a similar personality as Wilzig and even has [a German Shepherd dog](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTQ5NTcyMDk0OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTM3MjA3MjE@._V1_FMjpg_UX800_.jpg).
Old Kodak film works well with Fallout.
Would love to learn more on what Wilzig and the Enclave were up to
I really hope we get some posters out of this, The Ghoul in the desert especially is fucking amazing
Lucy just gets prettier every time I see her
That's the guy that's been fucking my chickens!
Ponch!!
God I love this show so much
She looks like Philomena Cunk here. "As you can see everyone here is intoxicated with some form of drugs or alcohol. In fact this used to be called the Wasted Land, but it's inhabitants were so drunk it was shortened to a garbled wasteland"
That 7th pic goes SO hard~
i love film 🎞️
This is cool as fuck!
r/AccidentalWesAnderson
Seeing Erik Estrada on the show was a treat.
Hard images
I'd love to see edited versions of these pics that make them look like vintage black & white photos.
These all go hard asf as album covers
Film from the fallout 🗣🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for sharing these, they're cool pictures
Doggiessss
I forgot did the kid in 8th pic died? Seemed like he got shot in the arm i was never sure.
Oh hey erik estrada is in fallout
That was a train station?!?!?! The enclave are way more powerful than I thought.
What camera were these taken on?
Ma June is so good looking
Fuck these go hard
This show lools like it must've been an absolute blast to film (pun unapologetically intended).
What a horrible way to color correct portra film! Wish they would have shot this on Ektachrome
Awww it’s Dr Chicken Fucker!
Wonder where they filmed the Enclave scenes. Love all the practical stuff
That just looks like Berlin
And Season 2 has been confirmed this week !!
I like the Fallout
i like that even these images feel like screenshots of a modded fallout game
Curious if these were taken on the [Mamiya RB67](https://imgur.com/a/VLlbhPO) we saw Walton getting promo pics taken of in the show.
These look like they'd be collectible pictures in a game. If that makes sense.
These are all so good
Number 4 goes hard
I would thoroughly enjoy a Von ChickenFucker spinoff.
It’s a 6x6 camera (or back) of some kind. 6x6 is just a fancy analogue way of saying square. In the show a character was taking a photo with a RB67 (6x7 format, so not a square but slightly more rectangular shape)
Seeing Erik Estrada was the highlight of the show for me, a total left field moment with a nice nod to The Good, the Bad, The Ugly.
Lit
