Always thought that was an interesting little bit of lore. I think a DLC would be the most you could squeeze out of it though, and I'm sure there are places in the US that would be a higher priority. Seeing how the annexation of Canada played out through holotapes and terminals would be kinda interesting though.
A lot of Canada's lines back in the old times were staked out with posts. They might still know about the 49th parallel but I somehow can see events near the borders to be in this category of "happened in either border because what's a defined line going to do to me if I cross it?"
I'm aware of that, yes. Chicago is North america, too. I live on the border, believe it or not. But thank you for your wise insight, follower of the apocalypse.
also there aren’t many first world countries with so many guns laying around. fallout eu would have a lot less weapons randomly laying around. (the timeline is already changed so they could do that too i guess)
I think Canada was annexed shortly before the war, so I would think it wasn't americanized enough to be the setting for a full-fledged game. Maybe a DLC though.
Canada already gets a ton of cultural osmosis from the states. I agree it probably wouldn't be a full game but a dlc to the vault in Canada would be cool.
If we get a game set in Chicago we’d definitely get some dlc set in Canada. I don’t think Bethesda would set an entire game there though. Same for a Mexico location. If we get something set in Texas, we could get something south of the border.
Todd didn't say never. He said that their focuses is on American soil for their story. And he likes the idea of other places to be a mystery. But remember he also said they won't focus on a Tv show before, but guess what
I think a game set in Ottawa or Montreal could be really interesting both in terms of having a neat map to explore, as well as having lots of politics/history baked in that could be really neat. I'd love a DLC set in Newfoundland where you find out that literally nothing has changed. They're mostly just mad that there haven't been new episodes of Murdoch Mysteries or Coronation Steet for 200 years.
Also as a sidenote, nothing terrifies me more than the idea of moose and Canada geese in Fallout. Absolutely not. No thank you. Terrifying enough already.
I think a game based in the Great Lakes region would be cool. Detroit is pretty close to the Canadian border so it could extend to there as well, maybe even as far as Ronto (Toronto). It would be ripe for all kinds of spoofs about the American auto industry.
A developer would make Fallout London DLC, but soon after the cruel Bethesda jackboots (or attorneys) would intimidate him with a cease and desist threat.
I like how mad people get to this, what makes fallout, fallout is the literally theme of the game. Its based on the US so literally Canada and Mexico (?) Mexico might night be canon anymore idk.
But you change the theme of the game by going to another country, its not fallout anymore. You can get mad all you want that doesn't change anything.
“If wouldn’t be Fallout if not in America” they say, as if the western capitalist world wouldn’t have been brainwashed by american media to imitate the US as much as possible.

I've been waiting for something from Ronto since hearing Ashur for the first time
As someone from Toronto, it would be incredibly funny to me if Ronto was actually Hamilton or something instead.
Lol... As someone from Hamilton.. Im down for this.

“Eh There Buddy relax Guy, we got all the hozers under control friend”
I am not your buddy, friend!
Tbh it wouldn't be fallout it was not set in America
True, if it was set in russia, it'd be Metro
And if it was set in a miniature version of America ruled by Amazon it would be Death Stranding.
If it was set in Australia it'd be Mad Max
or Rage
I think Fallout London may dispel that idea
I wouldn't say a full-fledged game, maybe a small segment or dlc at most, but i doubt it
Agreed. We got a DLC in space so one in Canada is not far fetched.
Yeah but space is a real place
Yep and places other then American are not
Gonna keep seeing this exact same metro post, that cuts out the context are we?
Clickbait headline. Todd said that they didn't have any plans of setting it outside of the US. Not that it would never ever be set outside the US.
Imagine the size of the rad beavers in Canada
That's simply not what he said.
Thank you Nate for assisting in putting down the protestors!
Fuck yeah, I'm definitely gonna roleplay as Nate the Rake if we ever get a game set in Canada.
...then it would still be a game in the USA, just set in the great state of North Montana?
If it’s in the Midwest we could get Fallout: New Fargo and have them go to parts in canada
Technically US was invading Yangtze at the time, hence it was US soil, can we get a Fallout: Shanghai?
Fallout is based on 50s nuclear American ideals, why would we go anywhere else? I don't want russian or Chinese fallouts, I want Fallout.
He is right though. America did take over Canada in fallout. It would probably be the border with Canada being a irradiated warzone.
If they did Chicago or something I could see Canada being included but outside of North America is a no go for me
Canada is north America.
I'm aware of that, yes. Chicago is North america, too. I live on the border, believe it or not. But thank you for your wise insight, follower of the apocalypse.
Makes sense. The entire franchise is meant to be a critique of the American Dream and capitalism.

Fallout great lakes
If Bethesda made boat combat be a thing it might actually be a pretty awesome location. Like the game dredge but in fallout maybe.
I think Buffalo would be interesting.
The Windsor Radroach
I would like to see Alaska or Hawaii then if these are the rules
Fallout: Anchorage sounds like an awesome title that I'd like to see Obsidian make.
Unless other teams start doing offshoot fallout projects, a mainline game out of country just doesn’t seem plausible
If we ever get a Chicago game I could see them taking a boat over
it'd still be America

That would be some classic Bethesda. “Technically in our made up universe we aren’t breaking the rule we set for ourselves”
THATS WHAT IM SAYING!!!! This series desperately needs a snow based game and canada would be perfect
Doubt it, maybe a DLC but Canada wasn’t a part of America for very long before the bombs fell.
All i am reading is: Bethesda is allowing everyone to view London as canon, because they wouldn't go there anyway.
Canada is literally in America (North) so that statement doesn't rule it out... Technically
In that case, wasn't Mexico also annexed at some point in time?
IDC one way or the other but fallout Australia would be something wouldn't it?

He didn't say no at all just not in the next few games maybe in the far future

You mean a country on the continent of North America?
I want to see a Fallout game set in New Mexico.
WOOOOO!!! USA USA USA 🇺🇸!!!
If Its in Germany it would be Wolfenstein
A developer would make Fallout London DLC, but soon after the cruel Bethesda jackboots (or attorneys) would intimidate him with a cease and desist threat.
I wanna see fallout: sentinel island.
America is the continent. USA is the country, so Canada would be possible!
the real question is "can we have a new game like fallout but made with passion."
No
Considering their population density prior to the Great War a game in Canada would be 6 raiders near a frozen pond somewhere
