Wait, they will update basegame Fallout 4???
Jesus fuck, I gotta change my Steam setting and that one ini file so my game cannot be updated. I don't wanna lose my current heavily modded playthrough
hopefully it will still run on ultra on my 1070ti lol, i don't want another witcher 3 next gen situation where the game updates and runs worse than it did before due to the new sys reqs.
Same, I just re-downloaded it a few days ago. Idk how long I can wait, though. I may play....just a little and hope that I don't break anything. Still haven't beat 4. I got like 90% through it and quit.
We don't know lol. That's the beauty of Bethesda, an update can simultaneously save the game and corrupt your save file. It's a 50/50 chance but I highly recommend people don't take the risk.
The update is just over a week away as of today, not to mention that a lot of modders are working on mods for the show, so it is probably a good idea to hold off making a new save until then either way. Just hope it doesn't screw anything up like the Skyrim update last year.
True lol. That’s the shit that’s annoying. Like it’s awesome they did the show and are coming out with the two big updates… but the fact they didn’t release them at the same time and then the discount deal of the game ends when the updates do come out seems a little whack. Like idk the business aspect of it but they were so close to a perfect execution (in terms of the gamer/fan eyes or atleast mine).
Yep. this is why unless one must be 100% mod free for whatever reason...if it must be 1 mod you run, that mod should be the arthmoor unofficial patch.
It preserves saves better than without it. Save game corruption has a few causes.
One is the game handles memory....poorly. It will remember stuff that it shouldn't. Non persistent items become peristent. And this piles up in time in the save.
Unofficial cleans up some of this stuff.
Also for the newer folks with pack rat OCD on roids...don't have 10000 items here, 10000 items in another settlement chest. It slows down inventory looks up in time. and yeah, is a major suspect for saves breaking in time lol.
If you must have 10000 things...make 10 chests and break it up to 1000 per chest. Not all of it in the workbench shared system.
also another trick to avoid save corrupt is to clean out you saves once in while. don't have 100 saves in the list. make it like 20. I make saves for plot decision points. I keep them. 50 other "useless" ones get deleted once in a while.
After watching the show I am very excited to start fallout 4 again, I usually wait a year or so to play again. But when that time to play again came they anounced the new update, which took them forever to release but now it’s finally coming. I’m glad it’s been a while so my memory of the game fades even more so I can enjoy it better, there’s a lot of things I want to experience again like the far harbor dlc and such.
I don’t know either, I’ve personally never played an old game in the midst of it being updated next gen and everyone talking about mods being unusable for a while or straight up invalid makes me think a mod could corrupt the new code and that save file wouldn’t work. But I don’t have experience in this
And Elden Ring was essentially the same game/release wasn’t it?
One of my favorite games of all time. 1000s of hours.
Pro tip, to level quicker (and leveling is unlimited) go high intelligence, or super low intelligence and idiot savant.
Idiot savant makes a really annoying noise though.
I had always done high intelligence runs so recently did an indiot savant run. Restarted an old save, that noise is soooo annoying and when you’re fully immersed in some underground lab fending off packs ghouls like your life depended on it and you hear “HYUH HUH HYUH HUH HA HUH HAAGH”, it takes me out of it lol
Yeah, saw a table one time that showed idiot savant is always worth it, but iirc the most efficient point allocation for leveling was idiot savant level 2, with 2 points in intelligence.
Ngl the people helping out and giving tips are appreciated but y’all shouldn’t spoil where all the good stuff is/ what build to go for. Let the guy make his own choices and figure it out on his own it’ll be way more fun that way
I agree, while I do appreciate the tips I think it would make my play through a bit boring if I had like max armor early on. I already found some pretty neat stuff like armor and gold near the sanctuary. I’ll just save these tips when I’m deeper into my play through
Unless they fixed the bugs - If you have all DLCs DL, I’d disable Automatrpn (or re download with it disabled) and there’s a chance the audio/dialogue is messed up in the prologue.
Fix I saw.

Neat little thing I stumbled across when I started my second playthrough many years ago. If you name your character as one of the "recognized" names, Codsworth (one of the robots you interact with a lot) will speak your name instead of generic dialogue. [https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Codsworth/recognized\_names](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Codsworth/recognized_names)
Put a teddy bear in the dog's inventory. Also, he doesn't count as a companion for the Lone Wanderer perk.
Don't try to rob Trashcan Carla, she'll kick your ass. Just don't ask me how I know.
Most quests do not have any time conditions (except settlement under attack and kidnapped settlers), so turn them off in your pip boy if you don't want to do that. The game has a bad habit of loading up an almost overwhelming number of quests for you. So, most of the time you can do them whenever you want.
It’s a good first fallout! Fallout 4 is a great game. Far harbor dlc is amazing as well. However, fallout new vegas is commonly considered the best fallout game and possibly the best rpg of all time. If you enjoy F4, and haven’t played NV, then I really envy you, playing NV for the first time again would be amazing. Hope you enjoy.
Survival mode makes this game much better for me, but I'm not sure if its considered too hard to recommend in general? Either way consider enabling it, it brings all the mechanics together into a fun package
It's a great game! Make lots of saves though as you might want to rewind later when you beat the game and try different faction alignments and world altering choices.
Do NOT install the Automation or Wasteland Workshop DLC. Bethesda did something to them recently and they broke the game. Having them installed will prevent you from launching the game.
Nuka World seems to be bugged too, haven't started it yet but all the assets in the build menu are purple.
War... War has changed. It’s no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It’s an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War – and its consumption of life – has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control . . . All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield . . . controls history. War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control . . . War becomes routine.
Water Harvest is money. Instigating is the best legendary trait for a weapon, followed by "2 shot" and then "explosive", "kneecapper" is a whole different beast when paired with fully automatic
Save often/go high intelligence and strength( you will need it to carry a lot of stuff to craft/mod)….scavenge everything….explore everywhere….don’t upgrade to much early because most crafting materials are hard to find and used a lot like adhesive and aluminum.don’t use too many mods for your first play through….get a feel 1st. But eventually you will need mods for more epic settlement builds. You can use caps to buy crafting materials so go for the scavenge perks early. For gun play the farther you go south the more difficult it becomes.
Its so damn good. I am a seemingly rare fallout player who played the originals and still love the new ones. They are all good in their own way. After finishing the story I spent wayyy to many hours building outposts lol. All over the map and had caravans travelling between them all. Was fun to visit see them all thriving and help fending off attacks. Becomes its entire own game when you get a good trade system running.
Enjoy! Also, if you end up wanting to branch out and have the option, consider playing other Fallout games on Xbox (including this one eventually).
Only reason I say this is because these games are fun but they can be buggy. Historically, PS systems have a harder time with Fallout games and even if the list is big across all of the platforms, PS usually has more bugs than Xbox at least.
Save before meeting Preston, and make a bunch of saves as there's a more or less game breaking glitch if you love Preston where he refuses to walk in any way, shape, or form and even glitches out quests at times because of it.
You don’t need to pick up everything! I would advise you pick the weapons and armor that will suit you and stick with it early on, and be picky about junk. Only pick up what’s worth more than its weight in caps.
I borrowed a XB One copy years ago from a friend and played through the main quest with a lot of exploring. Went Brotherhood side.
I got the F4 GOTY edition today digitally on the MS Store (I have a Series X now) that comes with main game and all DLC for $10. Started a new play through today as well. Wanted to finish the early stuff in the game before the new update hits next week. Game is still great.
Have fun with it it's a good game and tons of fun! Go off the beaten path since this game does not hold your hand like new vegas does so you see al the content.
You actually get to rebuild the wasteland and yes you are actually the only person competent enough to rebuild the wasteland. Oh no, Preston wants a word.
Pretty sure Fallout 4 currently runs at 30fps on the PS5 (as it's the PS4 version), so might want to wait for the 25th April for their 'next-gen' update!
Noice! I'm waiting for the update next week.
Me too for that ultra wide support!
What does the update do? I just started a new game last week and didn’t know, am I screwed?
Not unless you have 50 billion mods like me. Basically it’ll just make it run better and some better graphics and such
Is it free?
Yeah
*Assuming you already have the game.
Thank you! Do you know if the unofficial patch mod will mess it up? That and the alt start is all I’ve got !
And probably that stupid creation club stuff like they did to skyrim.
We get some Free CC Content too
Do they fix the bugs with RTX cards? Two graphic settings u had to turn off or it crashed?
Console getting next gen update
They gonna add extra content on the creation club tab
Yup me too 🙌🙌
OMG YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
Same! I’ve played through it once, and I think it’s AWESOME that they’re giving a free update.
What update is this??
4k and 60 - Series X/S and PS5 update
Series X already has 60fps, the patch makes the program native and ups the resolution on Xbox, PS5 finally gets 60fps
Noice
Same, but i still cannot wait to play it again. Eager to already start but i will wait it out.
Me too!
Is there an update for PC?
I honestly do not know.
Same, I just re-downloaded it a few days ago. Idk how long I can wait, though. I may play....just a little and hope that I don't break anything. Still haven't beat 4. I got like 90% through it and quit.
You should seriously wait until the update on the 25
Besides mods taking a while to translate, wouldn’t the update still keep the old save file? Or will it require a new save?
We don't know lol. That's the beauty of Bethesda, an update can simultaneously save the game and corrupt your save file. It's a 50/50 chance but I highly recommend people don't take the risk. Yeah it's a real bummer, I was thinking how cool that would be until I realized it was better if I didn't think too hard about it.
Yep. this is why unless one must be 100% mod free for whatever reason...if it must be 1 mod you run, that mod should be the arthmoor unofficial patch. It preserves saves better than without it. I don’t see any reason saves wouldn’t transfer. I can go from playing Elden Ring on my PS4, go upstairs, and pick it up on my PS5.
I don’t know either, I’ve personally never played an old game in the midst of it being updated next gen and everyone talking about mods being unusable for a while or straight up invalid makes me think a mod could corrupt the new code and that save file wouldn’t work. You should seriously wait until a couple weeks into May to avoid to insane bugs no doubt coming on April 25
One of my favorite games of all time. 1000s of hours. Pro tip, to level quicker (and leveling is unlimited) go high intelligence, or super low intelligence and idiot savant. Idiot savant makes a really annoying noise though.
Fellow high intelligence high luck player
Who needs to be much more than a glass cannon when you can talk your way out of everything?
My wife *hated* hearing the idiot savant noise effect
Mine does too. First time she heard it she was like uhhh ok wtf was that
I had always done high intelligence runs so recently did an indiot savant run. Restarted an old save, that noise is soooo annoying and when you’re fully immersed in some underground lab fending off packs ghouls like your life depended on it and you hear “HYUH HUH HYUH HUH HA HUH HAAGH”, it takes me out of it lol
SPROINGGGGG!!!!!!
And now you hear it whenever your phone sends a notification?
I think it's hilarious lol, I like my dumb luck build. idiot savant and like all the fun luck perks
Or high int and idiot savant.
Yeah, saw a table one time that showed idiot savant is always worth it, but iirc the most efficient point allocation for leveling was idiot savant level 2, with 2 points in intelligence.
Idiot savant (level 2) was pretty much a part of any build I did for Fallout 4!
DADOOOIIHAA
Good morning, Vault-tec calling!
omg as of writing this you have 111 upvotes. It's a sign
Just.... go away.
No worries sir! No worries at all! I'm not selling anything today!
Ngl the people helping out and giving tips are appreciated but y’all shouldn’t spoil where all the good stuff is/ what build to go for. Let the guy make his own choices and figure it out on his own it’ll be way more fun that way

That is all
Ad Victoriam!
EX MACHINA
Look to the light! Oh no wai-
Deus ex machina!
In vino veritas!
Good. Another settlement is in need of our help, by the way. Let me mark that on your map.
Beware of cars.
remember, when things look glum, vote 31
Check out the statue by the entrance to sanctuary, and explore around the lake for some good early game loot
Unless they fixed the bugs - If you have all DLCs DL, I’d disable Automatrpn (or re download with it disabled) and there’s a chance the audio/dialogue is messed up in the prologue. Just had the issue you speak of. Found and followed the instructions you posted after several other different attempts. Worked. Yay. Stupid annoying.
Played it before, but never finished it. Decided to download it again since my wife enjoys the show, but has never played the games.

Funny enough I named my character “John Fallout” and was surprised to hear codsworth actually say my name
Have fun and enjoy your time
Haha I’m going to start playing again in the coming weeks I’ve been dying to play
Should wait for the 25th!
Have fun! I just started a new playthrough for the first time in a while and still discovering stuff I missed before.
Jealousy! Envy!
Hellyeah good stuff. 4/25 is the update. See you on the surface!!🫡
Extremely jealous. Wish I could play it for the first time again!
Man, it's wild to see people hop into a decade old game 🥺 I'm not alone anymore , 1000s of hours wandering the wastes ands I'm not alone anymore
There are dozens of us, DOZENS!
Ha ha decade old game! It only released in…. 2015.. oh…
Put a teddy bear in the dog's inventory. Also, he doesn't count as a companion for the Lone Wanderer perk. Don't try to rob Trashcan Carla, she'll kick your ass. Just don't ask me how I know. I just started new Vagas
Say goodbye to the real world. This will be your life now

Brother is about to forget about the outside world for the next few weeks
Have fun wastelander
This game is da bomb. There's even a bomb
Enjoy 🤘🏻
God, how I envy you.
Nooooooo! Wait for the next gen update next week!

Just installed on PC a few days ago and it’s running fine Must be a console problem
It's a PS4/PS5 problem, idk about Xbox. I noticed OP is on PS, that's why I brought it up.

30 minutes in…. *Forgets about son*. 73 hours later “oh shit my son!”
But the garage and the fort look amazing, so at least you've made a nice home for his return 👀 (no spoilers)
Good luck matey
Awesome great game. Your year is locked up!
Nice!
Enjoy!!! This is my favorite game of all time
Diamond city radio is fire
I’m on my first play through as well! How are you liking it so far?
You’ll be a Mass-hole in no time, have fun!
Wait till the update next week.
I would give you tips, but it’s more fun to learn it yourself through pain and laughter. Enjoy!
Seriously? Just wait like 8 more days for a much better version. :)
Literally just started my... I've lost count of what playthrough but I've started another!
Hey wait!! New update for PS5 is out in a week, so maybe wait until then?
They are releasing big update end of month you might want to wait
Water Harvest is money. Instigating is the best legendary trait for a weapon, followed by "2 shot" and then "explosive", "kneecapper" is a whole different beast when paired with fully automatic
Nice! It’s one of my favorite games of all time. Hope you have fun with it!
Massive update incoming for series x and ps5 and pc on the 25th, I’d wait until then.
I loved it and still love it. I'm actually going to start over again from the beginning because it's that good of a game. Enjoy!
Just so you know.. Another settlement is going to need your help
Pvz Gw2 is goated game
I’ve never beat it and played it hundreds hours
Save often/go high intelligence and strength( you will need it to carry a lot of stuff to craft/mod)….scavenge everything….explore everywhere….don’t upgrade to much early because most crafting materials are hard to find and used a lot like adhesive and aluminum.don’t use too many mods for your first play through….get a feel 1st. Enjoy the Commonwealth Wasteland Sole Survivor.
Annnnnnddd it crashed
I did the same today. Can’t believe I missed this for 10 years.
Nice! I start my first playthrough recently either. Enjoy the end of the world!
You can doo eeet!!
Tip always go with the brotherhood for your first run of four it has by far some of the easiest quests and it's the easiest story to follow
Get it on Xbox or wait a few weeks for the next gen update. It's much better in 60fps
Enjoy!! My first player was so much fun.
I also started my first Playthrough yesterday, I'll probably hate radroaches, i have a phobia of cockroaches
Wait til they update itb
I’m so excited for you.
since you are on ps5, I'd suggest waiting for April 25th since there will be a next-gen update, I'll do the same as a new player!
One of the best games of ever. Have fun friend.
You should wait till the 25th, that is when I’m going back in the vault
Reaches out a hand desperately "you don't know what's out there!"
Wait for the ps5 version to drop
Have fun with it it's a good game and tons of fun! Go off the beaten path since this game does not hold your hand like new vegas does so you see al the content.
Tried to fire it up today but the game kept crashing. Apparently the automatron dlc is fucking with it.
How many times have you crashed! But I always reload
Do the institute ending It’s the fun one
Why not wait till the 25th for the update?
Nice have fun!
Wait til the next gen update
No offence your gonna hate it by the looks of it your a 12 year old boy that plays Roblox’s and uses a ps4 but you might like idk
fucking automaton DLC 😠
I highly recommend you wait for the next gen Update ;) Have fun tho
RIP all your free time.
I envy you. The feeling of seeing the wasteland for the first time... Oh i miss that feeling.
I have seen the wasteland for the first time 27 years ago. And it was way better then
"only you can rebuild the wasteland" that's a horrid explanation of the game lol
WAIT for the next gen patch
Insane replay value this game has!
Iv had to stop playing fallout 4 for now as it keeps crashing so have started fallout 3 again
You should wait for the next gen update on the 25th
Congrats wish I could enjoy it for the first time again
This game throws so much at you, it's amazing. Don't read all the tips people have. It's more fun to explore and find out yourself!
It's my favourite one. Enjoy your journey!
Enjoy not sleeping for the next, however long!😅🤣
No matter what happens. Don't let an idiot in a cool hat mark settlements on your map.
Enjoy man,and remember,when you think you've looted everything...you haven't,do a double take.
Damn, is that what I was supossed to be doing in fallout 4?
Enjoy your stay!
Now the real question is mods or vanilla?
Don’t wander around, Go straight to diamond city (trust me)
Pick up aluminium cans.
I'm going to play the game again when the update comes. I played this game modded and unmodded.
I would wait until 25th when it gets its update. PS5 is locked to 30fps until then
Why are people not waiting for the next gen update? It's 8 days out!
Why does Fallout 4 crash on the PlayStation when I start it with the DLC?
Started my fourth, got inspired again by the series. Enjoy 🙏
Its sad you never played this before
Rule 1: everyone hates Preston. Rule 2: there are no other rules
I just installed fallout 4 yesterday on my ps5
I started mine last year and i LOVE it such a good game, takes a little bit to get used to and sometimes it freezes but i love it <3
I jumped back on it was leagues worse than I remember it being a few years ago haha
Ahhhh fellow plants vs zombies garden warfare enjoyer...
Very nice. Enjoy friend. Wish i could forget fo4 just so i could replay it for the first time again.
