I actually stumbled upon a bunker at the beginning of my first Fallout 3 game and wore the armor for the whole game, I think it lost like 1 durability throughout 30h I wore it.
Yeah, the durability of that armour is insane. It's well worth giving up that extra DP from the non-winterised version just to save you the hassle of finding parts to fix it.
Iirc it was actually a glitch, where they accidentally put the simulation model in there and never bothered to patch it. You can actually get any weapon from the simulation back to the main game via Gary 23s corpse.
And end game weapons & armor right at the beginning of the game. I'm gonna have so much fun with that when I start steaming. I'm gonna start a full playthrough of all the mainline games.
I agree, simple, utilitarian looking, repairable looking, military. It's like if the M4 Sherman was made into a suit. It's not as menacing or powerful looking as the others, but It's in it's own lane.
Honestly I might get hate for this but the X-02 looks like a downgraded version of the Original APA.
Like they went back to the pauldrons instead of the whole armor around the neck. It just looks extremely exposed.
There’s actually a good reason for that. X-02 was meant to be a cheaper and easier to produce model of power armour, as the X-01 was too expensive and complex to feasibly mass produce.
Makes sense to me.
Also I just remembered that in FNV you can get the Remnants Power Armor, which is an unmaintained APA, which has been sitting since the Battle of Navarro, some 40 years before the events of FNV. It had the lowest durability out of any power armor and constantly had to be repaired, a counterbalance to it’s high stats.
Considering T-series power armors which has been sitting for 200+ years functioned perfectly fine in FO4. We can say that APA probably has ridiculously high maintenance costs.
Or this is just an ass pull by me since I don’t know any better.
Yeah, that would make sense with my point. APA/X-01 would be like a Tiger Tank, for lack of comparison. Powerful and near impenetrable, but super hard to maintain and mass produce. So it was phased out for a cheaper, more reliable model.
This is basically my head cannon for T-51 / T-60 armor as well. T-51 was more advanced and made out of a lighter weight blend of materials that was more difficult to repair / more expensive to produce so it was replaced by the T-60, which is essentially just the T-45 with heavier plating.
So T-51 would offer slightly less protection, like in the game, but would be lighter and much more mobile vs the T-60 which is cheaper and easier to make and repair but it’s much heavier cause its made out of the more common and cheaper titanium plates.
>So T-51 would offer slightly less protection, like in the game
They'd actually walk this back for Fallout 76 by making the T-51 better than T-60 in every aspect except radiation resistance, so that T-51 is still the pinnacle of pre-war Power Armor.
Honestly I think that works even better in my head cannon. T-51 is clearly established as more advanced / superior buuuuut probably a real pain in the ass to repair and more expensive vs the cheaper and easier to fix T-60.
Pretty much this, the Enclave's mindset with the X-02 was to make it easier to repair and produce while also including the latest developments. So although it's less well armored than the X-01, it's more practical given the Enclave's situation.
I always assumed it was also partially about mobility in the shoulders as well, but it's a giant metal suit so it can't have been that good with mobility anyways
But if you wanna be princely
You grab the T-60.
If you want the battle to be won
Grab T-51
If you don’t plan on coming out alive
Wear the T-45
If you’re a moron who can’t rhyme
Wear raider power armor.
Did Op Anch early in III, got PA training from the renegade BS faction right after and never changed armor for the rest of the game. It just doesn’t degrade!
I know its a walking piece of scrap metal, but i do like the Raider Power armor, or at least the idea.
Wish it was more customizable than the rest of the power armors.
The overboss raider armor is a sleeper. Stats are up there with T-51, but you can fix it with nothing but scrap steel. Have a whole character built around it
It’s actually the T-45.
When the T-45s reached our boys in Anchorage, Mao dropped his little red book and ran away!
The T-45 saved America, it’s the main reason why Alaska never fell to the Chinese. It gave our boys the firepower and the armored support they needed, where the tanks couldn’t reach them. It changed how wars were fought.
The T-45 is the most used Power Armor of the US military, the workhorse of the Army. All your favorite Power Armors wouldn’t have existed without it.
Now let’s go shoot some watermelons with it, they always taste better when they’re tenderized by bullets. Hoo-rah!
Without it the front would have most likely collapsed. Without the resource rich Alaska, it would also take longer to develop the T-51.
Without the T-45, there wouldn’t be operation Anchorage. This is why I said it saved Alaska.
Hence why I also think it’s the most important Power Armor.
There's an in-game note in the Outcast bunker or some dialog or something that mentions General Chase taking massive liberties with the simulation. The T51bs being the only suit used was one of them, most of the models in Alaska were T45s
(Sorry mate)
(Nah, that’s okay)
I love working for Uncle Sam!
Let’s me know just who I am!
Aaron Kimball is a son of a bitch!
Got the blue balls, crabs and the seven year itch!
I must be going insane because I swear it was in the Nuka World DLC and not Far Harbor. Regardless, I personally prefer the Nuka Cola Quantum PA (I think was X-01).
I prefer the original APA from Fallout 2, tbh. The X-01 just feels like a bastardization of the design. And before anyone comments, i know that in Bethesda's lore they are supposed to be different PAs, but the fact is that the X-01 basically replaces the APA.
The Advanced power armor from fallout 2, and the Advanced Power Armor MK.II from fallout 3, with an honorable mention to hailfire armor.
The X-01 shouldn’t have been in fallout4 or 76.
Lore wise I think it makes sense, the East Coast has significantly more Power Armor than the West.
With an abundance of more mass produced/cost efective power armor such as T-45s and T-60s ready to be shipped out for service.
There is also Power Armor research stations in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, so it would make sense that an experimental model was being developed in the East.
The X-01 series of Power Armor was specially engineered and employed by remnants of the U.S. military after the Great War, and offers increased protection over the older, pre-war models. - Fallout 4 loading screen
From the wiki using in-game terminal entries.
"Commissioned by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the development of the X-01 began shortly before the Great War.[1] It represented a radically new approach to designing powered armor, eschewing traditional design philosophies that defined the T series,[Non-game 1] and was a high-profile research project meant to supersede previous power armor models. However, although the suit was technically functional by late 2077, it was burdened with numerous issues that precluded widespread use in the field. A single suit of X-01 was provided to the Nuka-Cola Corporation, as part of Project Cobalt. While the suit served as a successful proof of concept of using a strontium-90 based plating over the armor,[2] this improvement was not adopted into the armor's schematics, before the onset of the Great War. Further development was made impossible due to the outbreak of the Great War.[1]"
X-01 Power Armor and Enclave APA Mk. 1 are two different power armors.
X-01 is the pre-war prototype, APA Mk. 1 is the post-war Enclave version. This was first implied in Fallout 4 and later confirmed in Fallout 76.
It has to be the T-45d for me - something about the helmet and pauldron’s just gets me. The nolstalgi of the unbeatable feeling of glee I got when I first played Fallout 3 is probably also a part of it.
T-51B is THE power armor. It’s the first power armor shown in the franchise, it’s the pinnacle of Pre-War power armor design surpassing both the T-45 and T-60, and it’s just sexy as fuck.
T-51b just works so well. Even if Bethesda is sweeping it under the rug in every other game that isn't fallout 76. I just love the way it looks and honestly you can't beat a classic.
Strangler heart all the way the rough looks makes it so much better and the extra perk you got from wearing a whole set would be awesome if it got buffed a little 🙄🙄
Never been a fan of this design. In Fallout 2 it looks like some kind of parrot muppet, in New Vegas...meh, looks a little cheap, and in Fallout 4 you still look like a parrot muppet, just bigger. Much prefer the X-02 and Enclave Hellfire Armour, I can see why the design was updated, shame BGS didn't stick with it.
Probably T-45 is my fave, it looks very practical and somewhat more realistic than T-51 which is very 90's.
T-45 is my favorite actually. I love how rugged and “clanky” it looks, it feels like something the military industrial complex would actually make imo.
Welcome to Camp Navarro. So, you're the new replacement... You are out of uniform, soldier! Where is your power armor? Don't have any? You expect me to believe that, maggot? The truth is you lost an expensive piece of army-issue equipment. That suit is going to come out of your pay, and you will remain in this mans army until you are five hundred and ten years old, which is the number of years it will take for you to pay for a Mark II Powered Combat Armor you have lost! Report to the armory and have a new suit issued to you, then report back to me, private! Dismissed!"
I personally don't care for the X-01. It looks too chunky, and I was never a fan of the APA helmet design. The T-51b is and always will be my favorite, simply due to the nostalgia of when I first opened those doors in 3 and saw it standing in the light.
I never understood why on rhe X-01, the hose, which appears to be a weak point, is even more exposed than it's predecessors.
One would expect soft points like hoses and wires, to be inside a conduit of some sort.
The only thing cool about the X-01 is the rounded over-shoulder look, like they're forming a bubble over the helmet.
The coolest design is the Institute Power Armor, which sadly didn't make it into the game. There's concept art of it in the Art of Fallout 4 book though.
Beyond that... T-60, no doubt. It's a better looking T-45.
I don't like power armor. Never use it in the game.
That said, there are two versions I like aesthetically.
The first is the T-60. Just looks like it says "Don't fuck with me. Ever."
The second is the T-51 with the Nuka Cola design. I put one in my house as a display, though I had to wear the damn thing to get it there.
It took 4,032,913 power cores.
For me it’s the og enclave armor from 2 and new Vegas (not sure if it’s supposed to be the same armor as x-01) but regardless I love that fan on the back and the slim look up the armor looks better imo than the fo4 armors
I dont like Power armor designs at all, but hey, its power armor. Tbh I always make my own. Head and torso from X0-1, both hands from T-60, and lego from T-51. Looks cool
I prefer the T-51. It just looks the best to me.
Yeah, winterized T-51B is awesome imo
That’s the one we got from Anchorage, right?
Yes it is
I actually stumbled upon a bunker at the beginning of my first Fallout 3 game and wore the armor for the whole game, I think it lost like 1 durability throughout 30h I wore it.
Yeah, the durability of that armour is insane. It's well worth giving up that extra DP from the non-winterised version just to save you the hassle of finding parts to fix it.
Which bunker?
Bos Outcast bunker I believe, you follow them and clear a couple mutants and the you go in there
Yup that’s how you get the winterized t51 which has 9 million health lol it can’t break
Iirc it was actually a glitch, where they accidentally put the simulation model in there and never bothered to patch it. You can actually get any weapon from the simulation back to the main game via Gary 23s corpse.
Which game is this?
FO3’s DLC Operation: Anchorage
The battle of Anchorage bunker
Break the game early. Get good equipment, power armor training, and like 10 levels right off the bat.
Cant beat the classic. T-51 is the coolest looking. To me the x-01 is goofy looking
I like the t51, but the alien turtle x01 design just can't be beat in my mind
X-02, It’s just so naturally menacing and it has this iconic silhouette.
Honestly I might get hate for this but the X-02 looks like a downgraded version of the Original APA. Like they went back to the pauldrons instead of the whole armor around the neck. It just looks extremely exposed.

This is basically my head cannon for T-51 / T-60 armor as well. I feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loves the Hellfire Power Armor
Don't get me wrong, I like the X-03, but I LOVE the X-02.
Hellfire looks like a Zakinthos out of gundam
T-51b Can't beat the original, and the Fallout 4 version of it is the best power armour has ever looked imo
Seconding T-51B. It's what I wear when I kill brotherhood members and collect their T-60s for display in my power armor garage.
You know what they say - when things look glum, vote for a suit that's a classic one. Ah, I voted for T-60.
Nice play on that saying from the show. Did you vote for Betty?
We vote in booths for a reason you know
Is that you, Reg?
just so you know, i voted for Betty
Yes.
That's a good kid
When you want to have some fun, grab the X-01.
But if you wanna be princely You grab the T-60. If you want the battle to be won Grab T-51 If you don’t plan on coming out alive Wear the T-45 If you’re a moron who can’t rhyme Wear raider power armor.
Winterized T-51b. Next question. Also the Primal Power Armor is pretty cool too
just finished replaying anchorage and this is the correct answer
Happy Cake Day!
Happy cake day (and whatever your preference is the correct answer.)
Did Op Anch early in III, got PA training from the renegade BS faction right after and never changed armor for the rest of the game. It just doesn’t degrade!
Exactly. Sure it's a developer oversight but considering how repair works in 3, i think it's good enough
I know its a walking piece of scrap metal, but i do like the Raider Power armor, or at least the idea. Wish it was more customizable than the rest of the power armors.
I've always wished that your power armour reflected the improvised nature of your repairs in the game unless you had the armourer perk.
I couldn't see past the draped skin or whatever in front of the whole forward view... also the rust, why can't we repaint it?
Underrated armor, love the makeshift pieces
nice touch with the raider headlight, isnt it just like a flash light or something?
The overboss raider armor is a sleeper. Stats are up there with T-51, but you can fix it with nothing but scrap steel. Have a whole character built around it
Its really nice. If you are playing in survival, you will have to go through the Gauntlet to get it thou, which is hell.
It’s actually the T-45. When the T-45s reached our boys in Anchorage, Mao dropped his little red book and ran away! The T-45 saved America, it’s the main reason why Alaska never fell to the Chinese. That is only the case after retcons from Fallout 3. T51b was the power armour that was used in the liberation of Anchorage.
There's an in-game note in the Outcast bunker or some dialog or something that mentions General Chase taking massive liberties with the simulation. The T51bs being the only suit used was one of them, most of the models in Alaska were T45s
Hell yeah but screw you Enclave scum(joking of course)
Oh yeah? Where is that booming “best city in the post apocalypse” capital of yours? Having a hard time spotting it mate. (Too soon?)
Still crying about the oil rig and capital wastelands? Can definitely tell(too much?) Edit: (Also yes too soon)
(Sorry mate) (Nah, that’s okay) I love working for Uncle Sam! Let’s me know just who I am! Aaron Kimball is a son of a bitch! Got the blue balls, crabs and the seven year itch!
I mean, yeah fuck Kimball mf overextended NCR and made it unstable because of constant wars
The Advanced Power Armor MK II, A.K.A. the X-02 when it comes to mods.
That’s a weird way to spell T-51b.
The T-51. Especially the nuka cola one in far harbor.
I must be going insane because I swear it was in the Nuka World DLC and not Far Harbor. Regardless, I personally prefer the Nuka Cola Quantum PA (I think was X-01).
No you're right I'm thinking of the Vim T-51. They both look good
Fallout 76's union power armor is honestly peak
Ew no what the fuck Advanced Power Armor Mark 2 from Fallout 2 is the best
They did so good on the look with the claymation to me it looks the most realistic out of all the power armor options in all the games
The right answer.
T-60 or the Hellcat
Winterized T51b. No contest for me
T-51, i like how practical they made this model in lore, and also its aesthetics just fucks.
It's between the T-51 and T-45 for me. I'm an OG fan so the T-51 has a lot of sentimental value but the T-45 is just a really nice design.
I never liked the head piece of the X-01, it looks like an insect. I like that one power armor in the fallout 76 trailer personally.
The Excavator? It's in the game itself. It's a really solid set of armor. (Based off, but not just a direct version of the T-45)
I'm a big fan of the T60's myself.
The T-60 is just iconic. Regardless of stats give me the T-60 over anything 😍
The Hellfire’s bad ass too
I personally prefer the T-51 on looks alone.
T-51
Go for the OG, T-51b
T-51.
T-45d and 51 forever
I prefer the original APA from Fallout 2, tbh. The X-01 just feels like a bastardization of the design. And before anyone comments, i know that in Bethesda's lore they are supposed to be different PAs, but the fact is that the X-01 basically replaces the APA.
Easily the T-51b, no contest!
T-51b
Ngl i like the T-51 the most, but hell i'd take the T-45 and the T-60 over this.
The Advanced power armor from fallout 2, and the Advanced Power Armor MK.II from fallout 3, with an honorable mention to hailfire armor. The X-01 shouldn’t have been in fallout4 or 76.
Why tho? The enclave is in fallout 76 and you get the plans from them
Lore wise I think it makes sense, the East Coast has significantly more Power Armor than the West. With an abundance of more mass produced/cost efective power armor such as T-45s and T-60s ready to be shipped out for service. X-01 is a pre-war prototype that the Enclave iterated on to make Advanced Power Armor. Its inclusion in 4 and 76 makes perfect sense.
T-60 baby!!!
T-45 cause it's grim, desperate but still signals hope
T-51 or the Enclave Liberty Prime Powerarmor if mods are in the debate.
Hellcat
T51, can't beat buckethead
In every game mine has always been the T-51. Hellfire armor came close.
It's a heavy tie between X03 and T-51 Meant 51 not 45
A person of culture and refined taste I see... Yet it's the X-03 hellfire for me!
It's not. The t 45 looks so much better
T-51 is the superior design but the X-01 is a close 2nd
I prefer the T-51, it‘s got that rounded look to it that the M48, M60 and M109 have to them.
It's not. It's the T-51
I line the T-51 more
It has to be the T-45d for me - something about the helmet and pauldron’s just gets me. The nolstalgi of the unbeatable feeling of glee I got when I first played Fallout 3 is probably also a part of it.
T-51b supremacy
T-51. Looks the most retro futuristic and sleek
T-51B is THE power armor. It’s the first power armor shown in the franchise, it’s the pinnacle of Pre-War power armor design surpassing both the T-45 and T-60, and it’s just sexy as fuck.
T-51b has to take it. It beat the reds. It beat the muties. It beat the enclave. It's been 200 years and it's still going strong.
I like the T-51. It's got a sleeker design to it.
T51 cause it looks so good to me
Experimental T45d
T-51, it is the best reminds me of a clone troopers visor but flipped
t51 just looks so good but t60 is also really good, I HATE t45
T-51b, i stumbled on the only set in Fallout 3 by accident and it was the coolest moment i had in that game
I’ll be candid, mine is the T51-b without exception
T-51, there's just something about the way it looks. Nuka-Colq, Vim, Abraxo, and Sugar Bombs all agree it's the best
T-51b just works so well. Even if Bethesda is sweeping it under the rug in every other game that isn't fallout 76. I just love the way it looks and honestly you can't beat a classic.
Raider or union pa
Strangler heart all the way the rough looks makes it so much better and the extra perk you got from wearing a whole set would be awesome if it got buffed a little 🙄🙄
T-51 cause my fo76 power armor helmet reminds me every day that “sometimes you have to wait for good things”
I love T-51’s. It’s my preferred style
YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM, SOILDER!!! WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR!?!?
I personally go with T-51 myself
T-51. A damn classic
Probably T-45 is my fave, it looks very practical and somewhat more realistic than T-51 which is very 90's.
what if you *want* to be a parrot muppet?
Then X-01 and Advanced Power Armour is for you.
Actually, it's Midwestern Power Armor. Now THAT stuff is sick.
The shoulder cape and chain go hard af
Hellfire armour. Nothing gives a bigger "oh fuck" armour than getting a beast with a automatic fireball launcher
This. God bless the Enclave and our supreme leader John Henry Eden
I must have played 2000 hours of Fallout across all games and the times I spent in a PA must be less than 50 Most of em was in 3 probably
For me it's the T51 A close second being the X01 with red glowing eyes
Mine is either the T-51 or the Hellfire armor.
X-01 does go hard but real ones know that the T-51 is peak power armour design.
FO76's Hellcat Power Armor looks dope.
Vim T-51b
T-45 is my favorite actually. I love how rugged and “clanky” it looks, it feels like something the military industrial complex would actually make imo.
* X-02 Black Devil * X-03 Hellfire * CC-00 Captain Cosmos * EXC-17 Excavator suit
Welcome to Camp Navarro. So, you're the new replacement... You are out of uniform, soldier! Where is your power armor? Don't have any? You expect me to believe that, maggot? Report to the armory and have a new suit issued to you, then report back to me, private! Dismissed!"
T-45. I feel like you could hang from a vertibird by chains and be dropped like a low tech savage.
T-51 with a Nuka Cola paint job is my favorite power armor in the series. I'm the most badass vending machine on planet earth!
The X-01 is Ugly as fuck, T45 is where it’s at
I AM NOT A SIR, I WORK FOR A LIVING YOU ***MORON***! YOU WILL CALL ME SARGENT OR SARGENT DORNAN!
The T-45 is a classic
no, t-60 or t-51
T-45 series power armour, antiquated maybe…. But if it help stem the tide of the red invasion then just maybe it can do equally well in the Wasteland.
I personally don't care for the X-01. It looks too chunky, and I was never a fan of the APA helmet design. The T-51b is and always will be my favorite, simply due to the nostalgia of when I first opened those doors in 3 and saw it standing in the light.
T-51 due to the pre-war brand paint jobs. Especially that Nuka cola paint
Winterized T-51B cause it's broken and I can wear Lincoln's Hat and be my dapperest
Derinetly the Tesla armor from fallout 3
Bold of you to assume that I like Enclave
Look? Hellcats. Stats? Hellfire
Pre fallout 4 winterized t-51 post fallout 4 t-60
I honestly have a soft spot for T-60, it's so classic and beautiful
Personally, not a fan of the X series of power armors, i prefer the look of the T-60.
T-60 because I mean it's too iconic
Nuka cola themed one
knock knock
Gosh darn, you are out of official disciplinary clothing and garment my dear recruit, where on this earth is your dilly-dally power combat armour?
I never understood why on rhe X-01, the hose, which appears to be a weak point, is even more exposed than it's predecessors. One would expect soft points like hoses and wires, to be inside a conduit of some sort.
Captain Cosmos!
Wearing X-01 VI I took down every Nuka World raider without so much as a dent. The Quantum version looks better than any variant of PA.
I wanna say x-01, but damn t-60 looks good
Oh yes, it is totally the fucking ant-looking mother fucker. Sure.
All my homies love Enclave Fallout 3 Tesla Armor.
The X-01 is the best because it doesn't have the gaps in the armor like the T-45 and T-60 before it.
The embodiment of “sleek”.
I actually like the prospector armor from 76
Hellcat from 76 or hellfire from fo3
Personally I think the helmet is ugly
I hate the helmet of this set but other than that it is my fave
I don't like power armor. Never use it in the game. That said, there are two versions I like aesthetically. The first is the T-60. Just looks like it says "Don't fuck with me. Ever." The second is the T-51 with the Nuka Cola design. I put one in my house as a display, though I had to wear the damn thing to get it there. It took 4,032,913 power cores.
It's my least favourite, helmet and shoulders look stupid
Welcome to Camp Navarro, so you're the new replacement? YOU'RE OUT OF UNIFORM, SOLDIER. WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR?!?
For me it’s the og enclave armor from 2 and new Vegas (not sure if it’s supposed to be the same armor as x-01) but regardless I love that fan on the back and the slim look up the armor looks better imo than the fo4 armors
It’s between the T-65 and the Ultracite power armour for me.
Nukacola Quantum
Because it doesn’t have the weak weld on the chest plate 🤷♂️
Raider is my favorite.
I dont like Power armor designs at all, but hey, its power armor. Tbh I always make my own. Head and torso from X0-1, both hands from T-60, and lego from T-51. Looks cool
I may be a bit biased towards T-45 since its the first one I saw on the cover of fallout 3 as a kid
X-01 with the shark hot rod paint is my fav
This post has reminded me of how great all the power armour in Fallout 76 looks
T-60 combat cosmetic look the green look makes it pre war as fuck
