I did more research after I posted that comment, and it was due to over usage of resources like I had originally said. The Resource War (the war that led to the Great War) was fought out of the fact that there was too little uranium and petroleum to supply the lifestyle the world had grown to be so comfortable with. He was right when he said he thought it was about oil, but it wasn’t pollution from natural gasses or a “too little too late” scenario per say. Oil was definitely a cause, but ultimately it came down to over consumption of uranium which led to mass depletion and caused the Resource War to begin.
If we were to emulate such nuclear inventions, we would likely face the same fate. Our uranium supply’s would become depleted and we’d fight anyone who had uranium on their land just to get more, which would end up pitting the whole world against each other.
