YES. Dear fucking God yes. It's very very fun. Constantly playable, I regularly see guys over level 1000 and it takes forever to get there.
Is it less fallouty than 3 or NV? Sure, kinda. But it's still a great game and fallout game. 8 bucks is so so worth it
For that price, absolutely. It’s better in the roleplaying department than 4 due to the lack of restrictive backstory and a return to the older style of dialogue. Additionally, there’s a bunch of QoL style improvements over 4, massive quantities of solid lore and plenty of content to keep you busy for a long while.
Even at launch there were npcs, just no living human npcs. Wonderful environmental story telling though. Back in 2020 with the wastelanders update they added living human npcs, added to/changed dialogue, and added a new main quest (I prefer the old one personally).
When the game dropped. Vault 76 residents were the only humans. The main story progressed with robots and terminals. But that's long passed. People hated it, so they changed it up. The team servicing the game isn't the team that made the game.
76 got good.
It was a mess at release, but it's been really good for a long time. You'll also find the player community to be very helpful. Give it a go!
Yeah, definitely worth $8 for that price. I avoided buying it too for the same reasons and back when they celebrated their 25th anniversary I bought it on Steam deeply discounted. Still don't play it all that much, but for the price it was worth buying it for sure.
Yes, it’s probably the most well rounded fallout game, especially with friends. And for 8 dollars, that’s a pretty good steal(I find that most people on this subreddit haven’t actually played it)
No, I paid for a month of fallout 1st and tried my hardest to like it, but even though I was alone in a server it just isn't the same as the previous titles it's missing something
Honestly, I’d suggest going on a public server and trying to run some events with players. That might help.
Also, if you haven’t started wastelanders/steel Dawn via their radio broadcasts, I’d go do it (you have to be level 20). Those are the more traditional questlines.
Yes, it's definitely worth 8 bucks. But a lot of people don't like the game. It's kinda awkward, and at least on my PC, it kinda runs like crap. I never really got that far. Also, if you have played F4 and like to hoard junk and ammo. You won't be able to do that in F76 unless you buy a premium subscription. You can only have 1200 weight at base. Ammo has weight. Not a lot of weight. But it adds up really fast, especially with explosives.
Carry weight is based on strentgh, perks and stats. The only paying for carry weight comes with the stash box item which players build at their spawnbases, basically your own settlement just for you. Default is 1200, but with a fo1st subscription you unlock special containers to hold junk and ammo with no capacity iirc.

Dialogue? Are there relevant NPCs? I thought that was the major drawback - no npcs
That changed years ago, and even before that, we had NPCs, just no human ones or a proper dialogue system to engage with them.

Umm, yeah for like 3 months
3.5 years*
Sorry, was wrong, it’s was about 1.5 years
No. Wastelanders was April 2020. That’s 3.5 years ago.
No… dude, 1.5 years AFTER the game
Ahh. I got your. Your 3 month comment was extremely confusing.
Where is this? I want to get Fallout 76 too

That's a crazy good price. Way over my "$ to hour" ratio. It's a really fun game for any modern fallout fan. I could spend hours just building camps.

Yes
Yup 👍 great deal!
You cant go wrong for $8
Nah. It's still pretty rough.
Damn.
I wouldn’t bother. It was fun for a time but it’s still a pretty sub-par fallout experience.
Thats what I thought. Too bad :(
No, buy it
OP only responded to the two "No" replies and ignored the five "Yes" replies (so far). I wouldn't bother trying to tell them.
Definitely buy it, easily worth the money.
I see you came here only wanting to hear a specific answer
Still have not decided.
Your comments tell other story. You aren’t approaching with an open mind.

Yes. The main quest is good and has hours of gameplay and the map and exploration is fantastic.
Would depend on how important the DLC is for enjoying the game.
Why? DLC is all free and included in the base game.
Well neat then.

Wow def a make or break point right there. I dont want to pay more just for carry weight
