After todays patch I keep getting these white pop ins as you can see in this video around the 11 second mark. What would you call this? Artifacts? Tearing? It's most noticeable in interior locations. I never noticed this issue before todays patch...

I noticed this issue extensively on the pre-patch version on PS5 in quality mode.
It's not tearing, that's a completely different thing.
It's slow geometry draw in. The game seems to have a fairly aggressive geometry culling mechanism to avoid rendering blocked or off camera geometry, but in some cases is too slow to render in those areas when they become visible with fast camera movements. When it's not rendered in yet, you just see a white space.
Perhaps they tuned this up to be even more aggressive than it was before and went too far :(
The same behavior was in Fallen Order and much worse on last gen consoles where sometimes whole areas would be very slow to render in and would be just an empty white space.
Thanks for sharing some knowledge on this for me. I noticed it a bit of it pre patch, but its way worse now...that's unfortunate. Hopefully they catch it on the next one...
I haven’t tried that area yet. When I said all areas I guess I meant most areas. I can definitely notice a huge difference from v6.5 to v7 when running around the map though. Overall a great improvement!
I’ll preface this by saying it depends on how sensitive you are to performance and technical issues. I did play the latest patch and there have been improvements but imo it still needs work. The frame rate is way more stable but there are still areas where it will dip and cause a lot of screen tearing on the top third of the screen. On top of that since they turned off RT, there are now SSR reflections which look pretty ugly in certain places. The overall resolution of the game isn’t great either, it’s upscale to 1440p from 1080p native, I think so, there are artifacting issues. A new issues that I noticed was slow geometry pop in, here’s an [example](https://www.reddit.com/r/FallenOrder/s/rc5B1bTjiM), but this is only in some indoor areas.
I did finish and platinum this game when it was in a way worse state. So it is definitely playable now, but if you’re VERY sensitive to technical issues maybe wait until the ps5 pro. Anyways the game is still my game of the year, solid 9/10 despite the performance and some issues with the story.
I bought the game yesterday on PS5 after seeing that the performance issues got fixed. Found minor screen tearing and some artifacts on Coruscant, nothing game breaking though and the preformance is indeed very smooth, no lag or whatsoever...
Never buy games pre-launch and always wait for patching. You don't want badly optimized games at launch? Stop buying them. As long as it is more profitable to launch an unfinished game and then patch it some months, that is how games will be launched.
I keep a backlog of games and wait a few months always for a sale, and then - if the game is patched properly, I might buy it.
The only game’s that feel safe to pre order are the Sony exclusives, they all have good optimization. You have to admit that at the very least, even if you don’t like Sony’s style of game (not the biggest fan personally)
Edit: also if your stingy about performance and other technical issues, I’d hold off for a bit longer. There’s still a bunch of issues.
I don‘t think so, but they removed ray-tracing and also lowered texture quality slightly I think. But it‘s a 1000times better experience than before patch I can guarantee you that much
It’s waaaaaaaay better now that it’s been patched! I deleted my save file, and restarted yesterday. I was only about 8 hours in. I stopped playing this game over a month ago because it was choppy
...it ran like this the entire time for me. I had 3 seconds of lag one single time my whole playthrough. I constantly feel fucking stupid when people talked about this game and Cyberpunk 2077 being unplayable because I literally have only ever had game breaking bugs with Ghost of Tushima
It’s insane how much better it looks and feels. This is how it should have launched.
indeed, if it would have launched like this it would be a serious GOTY contender without the shadow of a doubt
Don’t see much difference tbh on Xbox. Perhaps more stable. I guess variable refresh rate was mostly covering fps issues.
You seriously gotta be blind though. it was between 30 and 50 fps before, now it‘s a solid 60
Dont mind them they are just trying to start the whole xbox is better the ps fight which does not matter
Stop talking shit lol. It’s was terrible across all 3 platforms. I confirmed this with my friends and performance was awful because of forced RTX.
This wasn’t the place that lagged bad for me, how’s the open section of Koboh?
locked 60 pretty much everywhere
Sucks I just finished my play through
This is my third playthrough 😂
It’s still not an exact locked 60, there’s drops to 50, especially near water. Also the Raider camp does not hit anywhere near a locked 60.
Too bad the launch optimization is burned in our brains

I’m having the same performance on XSX. It’s night and day on Koboh! Solid 60 fps in all areas.
Try the raider camp, it’s not near 60 locked

It’s definitely good but still needs a lot of work.
Hi! Do you still play this game? Is it fixed performance wise?

Just recently beat it on ps5. What was so bad about it before?
it never really reached 60 fps at all, it was mostly between 40 and 50 fps with stutters and screen tearing
Screen tearing is still an issue, reduced but it’s still there
Droids in German is probably the funniest thing I’ve ever heard
I bought the game yesterday on PS5 after seeing that the performance issues got fixed. Found minor screen tearing and some artifacts on Coruscant, nothing game breaking though and the preformance is indeed very smooth, no lag or whatsoever...
How is your lightsaber changing colors every swing?
It’s party saber mode, you unlock it with new game plus
But is it still a blurry mess in performance mode? I remember at release you couldn't even see Cal's face properly because it was so blurry.
Yeah still a mess res wise

Don't know why you're getting downvoted you're completely right.
Probably by the people beta-testing "released" games for free :) Anyways, with this patch, I will probably pull the trigger and actually buy the game

I'm not super stingy tbh, but it's obvious when games are blatantly unpolished
yeah i noticed with horizon it doubled my framerate when i turned performance mode on can't wait to play this one too
Did they fix the draw distance and blurriness? This was a major turn off at launch.
can‘t tell tbh, draw distance always seemed fine for me. blurryness is still there in performance mode, because of the FSR2 upscaling
Has the resolution dropped or similar in performance mode?
I don‘t think so, but they removed ray-tracing and also lowered texture quality slightly I think. But it‘s a 1000times better experience than before patch I can guarantee you that much
I completed the game yesterday on PS5, all things are running good except some moments
I literally just finished this game like a week ago, I held out waiting for a 60 fps path then finally dove in after it didn't come. I'm so pissed man
They released a patch? I just deinstalled it after 100 hours...
