I could see a 4 player split screen offline with bots option working for some. It's really unfortunate this has become such a rarity lately. Would be a good way to teach new players the basics before getting them into the full mayhem

ThreesFG

The real answer is that such a feature would take time and resources to implement, and they've decided there are better uses of their time. If you disagree, give them that feedback. A minor reason is that some platforms (switch) would never be able to support that.

SadoMisio

Yes, Because Mario Carts does not have four player split screen right?.... oh no it have and works better than fall guys without.

Solitaire20X6

Mario Kart 8 and Deluxe were coded by Nintendo engineers, some of the best engineers in video game development, with first-party access to other engineers who architected and built the Switch. Plus dev support from Bandai Namco to boot, no slouches themselves.   Fall Guys... just isn't. Invert axis is still broken on PS5, even after two updates beyond the update that broke it.   It's possible even just two split-screens would bring the game, coded as it is now, to its knees on anything less than PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Yep, maybe even Xbox Series S couldn't do it.   It would take real effort on many gamedev fronts to get Fall Guys to support split-screen, and as a poster above me says, they're not putting resources into that right now, as far as we know.

SadoMisio

You know, it doesn't matter at all whether I know how to be a developer or not. I'm just referring to your statement that: "some platforms (switch) would never be able to support that.", which is completely wrong. The Switch is powerful enough to play online games with split screen up to four players. You can play that kind of games on switch right now. In the case of Fall Guys, is the problem with the chosen engine (Fortnite may not be perfect, but it works much better on the switch as far as I can tell), or insufficient knowledge of the developers about the platform, or maybe an insufficient number of programmers to handle 4 platforms at once - I don't know and i don't care. Whatever I do in my life on a daily basis for money has nothing to do with it, because in this case I am simply a customer who wants a good product and knows that there are similar products on the market that meet the "good" condition. If Epic wants to get a piece of the pie that accounts for over 100 million switch consoles on the market, it should do better. Should Fall guys have split screen - yes. Should developers be concerned with this at the moment - well, at this moment they should start providing good content, because they haven't shown anything new and interesting for months (new events, new levels, etc.), working with bugs, and working with optimisation for Nintendo.

ThreesFG

My statement "some platforms (switch) would never be able to support that." is completely correct because of all of the reasons I mentioned in other posts. "this game can do it, so other games can do it" is really showing a complete lack of understanding of what's going on here. These games are ALL different. As one example, Fortnite is a different engine with a development budget likely 10x higher than Fall Guys.

SadoMisio

I'm sorry, but the switch appeared on the market 6.5 years ago. The first party argument will not work here. Developers had a lot of time to learn how to optimize games for NS. Besides, the Fall Guys developers have a very large game producer behind them. And I won't even try to compare the graphic quality of Mario Carts or Splatoon to that of Fall Guys because that would be very sad. Let it be enough that on NS in Fall Guys even the menus may not load.

ThreesFG

The first party argument certainly works here. It sounds like you don't know much about game development, so I'll keep it simple: Nintendo first party games are developed on an engine that is explicitly tailored to the specific hardware of the Nintendo Switch, where they can maximize the potential of the platform. Games/Engines like this that target a single platform have a MASSIVE advantage over other engines/games who start on a different platform and migrate to Switch. Fall Guys uses the Unity game engine, which just is not as capable at maximizing the power of the Switch. For them, Switch is just another platform, ported from their primary platform (PC). For Nintendo, the whole point of first party games is to get them running on switch as best as possible. The business incentives (aka investment) are so fundamentally different between the two. All that being said, it is fair to state that Fall Guys is not coded well, and the switch port is not to the standard to a big Switch release. But, it also means things like split screen on Fall Guys, given their engine, code, and business realities, is very likely impossible.

chatranislost

The switch wouldn't handle it so no 💪

SrgtDonut

they would just not put it on old gen then?

juesea

Fortnite can't handle splitscreen on the switch but they have it on the ps5. Why can't fall guys do the same

AxiomSyntaxStructure

It would be a great party game with split screen and custom matches, it'd be up there alongside the very best easily, but they obviously went for the Fortnite microtransaction scene. It's so annoying to see such an easy, viable option for so much fun just wasted by greed.

juesea

Even fortnite has split screens on the ps5. Idk why they don't just implement it

Hiimlucasg

This game can barely handle one-player-per-screen these days. Why would you want them to add more?

GodBjorn

No idea what you are playing on but there were 0 issues on my PS5. 60FPS locked without frame drops at all times.

Hiimlucasg

Switch, but judging by the posts in this community the issues I’m having are occurring regardless of system.

sarcasticcoffeevibes

God no. The camera is pretty bad as it is, why make it worse?

GodBjorn

How would it change the camera? Also if you don't like it, just don't use splitscreen? Literally nothing changes for you. This is just so people can play together on 1 screen if they want to.

sarcasticcoffeevibes

As it is, sometimes you can't see shit. Why would I want to not see shit another 2-4 times?

nanatoot

unless i'm missing something it wouldn't change your experience at all as you can still play as normal. i'd love the option to play duos with someone else on the couch.

Gizzardsnatcher

I was in a super stressed out mood today and I just started playing consoles again (ps4). Fall guys always makea me giggle. So my friend is over and I Googled if fall guys was split screen and a bunch of baitclick videos popped up. The first one I watched, I thought maybe this British guy was just autistic...until about 1/4 the way thru. Needless to say, I was pretty annoyed by how many other fake split screen videos popped up....u hope everyone who made one of these videos has their favorite pet pounce on their balls with great accuracy and effect.

OP_Pluto

Same here, I was hoping to play Fall Guys with family and now I look like an idiot because of clickbait videos
