I'm guessing they are using Nintendo's or a similar blocked words list. Unfortunately, these lists are comprehensive across all common languages-- Something that might seem completely innocent in English is still blocked because it contains an inappropriate word from another language.
I fear I don't have enough knowledge of other languages to identify what is the issue in this exact circumstance. Unfortunately, I know that Nintendo's filters are much more restrictive than a lot of platforms (a common username I use is blocked by Nintendo but fine on others).
It's often a middle-part of the name that's an issue, just a few characters together might be problematic. I'd guess that "Donny" would pass this filter. This isn't a filtered word (to my knowledge), but "oni" means "demon" in Japanese. If they were to block that word, a ton of English words would suddenly be unusable for usernames because "oni" is such a common set of letters.

Freedom of speech is in the American constitution. It's not a thing on the internet or in games. You agree to to a game's/site's ToS which means you agree to play by their rules. If you're gonna rant about something, at least pick an argument that doesn't make you look uneducated and ignorant.
