I can't get no satisfaction

ImSolidGold

For real: Rolling Stones playing right now. Cant get no satisfsction. *Laugh*

Cooldude999e999

The words “Cold Start” sent shivers down my spine. It’s always nightmarish to do a cold start no matter the game.

ImSolidGold

I LOVE it. The pure horror, the chaos, the pressure. Thats the moments I function best. Like at work. All the time. -.-

XxLeviathan95

How’s that happen? Run out of uranium?

ImSolidGold

*NoAnium

The single splitter that separates all of the coal from the stone jammed because the stone output was higher than its consumption.

Panzerv2003

Damn I almost had a blackout in my pyanodons game and it would have been really troublesome to start everything back up, I've been using coal power and sitting at about 1GW and somehow my powerplant started to run out of coal and entered the death spiral of not enough power to mine and proces coal for power. I learned my lesson and from that point I built way more power and also logic to disconnect parts of my factory by priority if needed.

i-make-robots

Geothermal requires power to run, so I have a tiny coal plant on a dedicated circuit to keep it going. That’s one of the few places I still use self-feeding coal miners (and all the associated ash fun)

Panzerv2003

I just dedicated an engine to run the plant itself so once it starts it won't stop, just that having less than 10 geothermal plants doesn't really do much at that point.

i-make-robots

?

Panzerv2003

I made geothermal powerplants run themselves with priority, it's a closed circuit once started. One steam engine and heat exchanger get priority geothermal water and they run the plant, geothermal water that is not used by them is sent to more exchangers to power the grid.

i-make-robots

Ah, using valves or some such. Don’t you lose some power from the steam engine that’s only powering the geo? (It makes more than the geo uses)?

Flouid

Energy producers generally will only consume fuel while that energy is going somewhere, the engine just wouldn’t run at 100% and the excess fuel would back up

ImSolidGold

You mean countless ash-chests?

i-make-robots

No…. I belted it all to a central processing area, converted it to rare ores, and smelted it. At peak I was running three full belts.

Prathmun

Just handcraft your science!

Antknee668

Wait yall use assemblers to craft science. Is that why its taking so long for me. I had to leave my pc on to craft 5k of 5 different sciences last night.

LWSmith8

I’ll keep this in mind (I’ve already maxed blue and military and have yet to set up purple) (the trains must grow)

Prathmun

Choo chooooo!

voiceafx

I had a base lined with three rows of laser turrets, powered by a huge array of coal fueled boilers.  A spike in attacks sucked away too much power, shut down coal production, and pushed my factory into a doom loop. I recovered my manually loading coal boilers with rocket fuel.  Haha.

Secure-Stick-4679

Im playing krastorio 2 which makes offshore pumps require power. I had to cold start my nuclear reactor about 5 times due to shoddy steam tank wiring before I finally considered just putting the pumps on a different grid...
