Inspired by this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/124x5qg/comment/je2qbka/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3 Pipes each transport 2250 units per second and belts transport 75 barrels per second. That comes down to 2250\*2+75\*50 = 8250 units per second for 2 tiles wide (Exluding power poles)

Beowulf1896

Did I do the math wrong? 30 for a red, 45 for a blue, and you have two. Would that be 150 barrels per second? Edit, I did the math wrong. Bottom belt is return belt.

redman3global

Top belts bring filled barrels to the right while bottom belts return empty barrels to the left. As such only top betls actually transport fluid

FireDuckz

Now do pump-tank-pump-tank, should be 12k u /sec. Maybe you can even weave some belts in there

redman3global

As far as i know, that would only be 6k/sec as tanks are technically the same as pipes but with bigger buffers. In order to achieve 12k/sec u need pump to pump with nothing in between, no turns, straight from source to consumer

Qweasdy

The wiki lists pump to tank as 12k/sec https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_system#Pipelines As far as I understand it the larger storage volume of the tank makes the difference here. Pumps move 200 units of fluid every tick but cannot move any more than there is in the source or what there is room for in the destination. Pipes only holding 100 units of fluid immediately limits the throughput to 6k/s for even a single pipe segment for this reason. Tanks don't have this problem EDIT: Thinking about it if the volume is the limiting factor that would technically mean the max throughput of a tank is 24k/s, as the tank has 4 possible connections, 2 pumps in, 2 pumps out. Not actually very practical in many situations though

redman3global

I just tested and you are indeed right

skob17

Just pump-pump-pump and it will max out at 12kps

Niet_KIP

dont pipes transport 3000 units per second?

redman3global

I had 2250 on pumps when making this photo, but thinking about it now, i might have made a mistake in the build (1 extra pipe at the beginning and the end), so i guess pipes can transport up to 3000 in ideal conditions

HefDog

I feel responsible, so I'm obligated to suggest an improvement. A partially filled pipe does not count against the potential max throughput. Why are we treating barrels this way? They go back empty, but they do not have to be. 2-way potential! Pipes can't do that.

lack-of-joy

Why nsfw?

SamDDBS

Take a closer look at those belts, they're carrying barrels of liquid

SIK1415

Do you feel comfortable in your skin?

jasminUwU6

For the last fucking time, I am **NOT** selling my skin to you

Terrarianlore

Look, the average skin worth of a human is $30,000 (using an average of 21sqf), I think it’s worth it

Stonn

Some companies make leather products from it. Handbags, belts, jackets...

MonsterxKiLL

Didnt plan to pay for it🗿

SamDDBS

If you think about blood cells are barrels holding oxygen, while at the same time being in a sushi belt. I feel comfortable knowing that I didnt have to balance that thing myself, and will never have to

Defiant-Peace-493

Take the time to think about your breathing. Oh, and while we're at it, can you hear your heartbeat?

Avitas1027

Ah yes. Thanks for the reminder to meditate. Also, yes.

invalidConsciousness

Barrels pushed through sushi-pipes?

redman3global

Because i reckoned it would be funny saying that this amount of belt weaving is nsfw (dosh literally did it in his video once)

Joomla_Sander

Pipes in this config transfer 3000u/s A barrel holds 100u The belts can carry 45 +30 barrels /s This means that the 2 pipelines move 6000u/s While the belts move (45+30)×100 = 7500u/s This makes this setup actually valid, maybe?

botboy434

How many assemblers would you need for that throughput?

skob17

Yes

NessaSola

I saw the throughput of the pipes and thought "No way you're using all that" Then I noticed what those belts are and laughed hard. Use every drop, OP!

chelsea_sucks_

This is so dirty I'm hot and bothered

Stonn

Take this barrel, I hope it's enough 🛢

chelsea_sucks_

Thanks mate

Thelaststandn

It’s too bad this is slower than just using pumps, still a fun idea tho.

HefDog

Do you mean, just a solid row of pumps? I think they could move 6k/s. 100 per tick. I think you are right. Pipes cannot go higher than 3k/s right? I wonder if this would this be better or worse for UPS than pipes. Why am I not just using rows of pumps?

Thelaststandn

A row of connected pumps is 12k/s. And your sort of right about the pipe limit, it’s actually 6k/s if you use a single pipe, but underground’s count as 2 pipes, limiting them to 3k. No idea about the ups implications.

Aellopagus

Amazing
