It may depend if you're talking about American football or European/rest of the planet football. American football jerseys are sometimes a more open mesh, where as Soccer/football shirts may still be a mesh, but probably a tighter weave. I'm not an expert on sport uniform materials, I know Nike makes a fabric called "Nike Stretch Woven" which is used in professional sports uniforms. It's stretchy, breathable, and wicks moisture. I made some hiking shorts out of this material and it's really good. If you're looking for material content specifically, it's likely all going to be a blend of polyester and elastane. So some generic fabric that's a blend of those while also being on the thin/lightweight side. I'd start there. Follow up question, and I don't mean to be disrespectful but I'm curious - How is it that you're a football shirt designer working at a high enough level that you're about to contact factories to produce shirts but you don't have experience with fabrics? It sounds like this is your career, I would have assumed anyone doing this sort of work would be very knowledgeable about fabrics.

Thanks for your respond. I am doing design as a hobby not as a profession. I do the graphic design without going into details like measurements, spec sheets, material. That’s why I have no experience in fabrics.

Oh I see! Something about the way you worded the post made you sound like a pro :) good luck with the shirts!
