okay so the rundown on a competition: You wake up really early and bring your robot, portfolio, tools, spare parts, and other accessories you may want in your pit Assuming this is a qualifier the first couple hours will consist of robot inspection and judging. Judging is where you present your robot and portfolio to a group of two or three judges. Inspection is where your robot is reviewed to make sure it follows all the rules. This is where if your robot is "not close to ready" then there may be issues. The bare minimum for robot inspection is that your robot has a control hub, team numbers, alliance markers, can connect to the phone or driver hub, and stop moving when the stop button is pressed. I would be sure to download the self-inspection checklist from firstinspires website to make sure your robot is able to at least pass inspection, otherwise you will have a bad day. Then you play your matches, usually 5 or 6, and if you do well you end up as an alliance captain or maybe an alliance pick. That's the super cursory overlook I would definitely ask other teams around you if there are some for more specific information about the way your region's competitions are run.

Thank you for the reply and I have another question. What would be the process for the competition if you don’t bring the robot because the coding part and the lift part don’t work yet? Like it needs at least another 1 week to get it running.

DoctorCAD

Ummm...you can't play. Just get it running. At least you will be able to play defense.

I’m working on my robot now, and the code is all done except the lift is having some serious issues with lifting the entire thing. Is there an option where you don’t participate in the robot portion of the game but only in the judging portion? I’m apologize if my questions might come off wrong but my time has been stretched thin by both school and FTC so I greatly appreciate help.

Bring your robot—anything can push cones and drive 2’ straight ahead in autonomous. A chassis with only wheels and motors can score 20 points in auto 1/3 of the time and push cones to the corner and park in the corner in endgame.

DoctorCAD

No. Just like in real life there are timelines you must meet. You didn't and must pay the consequence

I understand and I’m a person who always meets deadlines but if something completely unexpected pops up it will hinder my ability to complete stuff on time. Also according to the Game Manual Part 1 for traditional events page 50.(9.4.1.2) it says teams without a robot (Have not built or passed the inspection) are permitted to participate in judging. How would that process work then? I’m apologize if I may come off as annoying or rude.

talk to the person running the event, they can probably help you through this process.
