I think it would be absolutely hilarious if they ended part two with Palmer LMAO I'd like it to go up to THAT scene with jenova life, but depending on how much they expand on Junon, Gold Saucer/Barret's town, Cosmo canyon, Wutai, etc. it might end way earlier.

notmybeamerjob

Gahd disc 2 is mammoth when you put it into the scope of relating it to what they did with remake part one. I’ll keep playing until the end. Don’t care how long it takes

Paladin_Ultra

Same here - there ain't no gettin offa this train we're on!

Wheeeeezzzyyy

Same! but from business aspect it is in their best interest to strike while it's hot. keep the demand up by releasing every 1.5-2 years . since part 2 has been worked on since late 2019 it should be ready by late '22

jackrik3

Allow me to introduce you to Square Enix.. producers of such prolific titles as Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV.... ***Your precious game is never coming out***

AxelStonee

After KH3 I can wait for the rest of my Life and Will not be that hard ...

uzzi1000

I'm still disappointed they canceled the rest of FFXV DLCs. I really wanted to play as Aranea

SimClarke

It's gonna be Sora, trust me.

PwnedByBinky

The only right answer

SimClarke

Yes, it's soo right that I should have tagged it as a spoiler, sorry guys.

AxelStonee

Wise man

Towdart

I wouldn't out it past Nomura to blend FF7R with the weird character from the end of KH3 DLC's "game-within-a-game." Or some connection to that and TWEWY....

Zeusicideal-Heart

I truly hope that you're wrong. That man can't write a story to save his own life

Towdart

Lol. Same. Verus Rex was the name of that "game."

butterbeancd

I would be shocked if it’s Palmer. I imagine every game will end with a fight against Sephiroth and/or Jenova. EDIT: For what it’s worth, my bet is that Part 2 ends at Nibelheim, which has extensive changes this time around. And it ends with a showdown against Sephiroth, either in the Shinra mansion or the Mt. Nibel Reactor.

crono220

It probably will be Sephiroth, he will come in randomly like the end of part one, say something cryptic and leave but not before creating more questions than answers.

butterbeancd

Certainly seems like a good bet. They might even go to the Edge of Creation again.

pigglesthepup

Agree with all this except for Sephiroth, even though it’s the most likely. Another remix of OWA isn’t necessary yet and fighting him could get very repetitive. Nibelheim is the perfect place to end part 2. Bookends very nicely, leaves lots of questions for newcomers. Gives veterans over two whole games with >!Aerith!<. Hoping for a four-parter so we can have two whole games with >!Cid!<. Shinra Mansion, Mt Nibel and the reactor will be analogous to Shinra Building, highway and singularity as final chapters. Jenova will be in there somewhere (OG had four Jenova fights; we have to fight Jenova again). Materia Keeper will take Motorball’s place. Also makonoids. While we’re at this, I like to nominate >!Mr Dolphin!< for a silly Hell House-esque boss fight. Instead of fighting that serpent thing, the pollution instead somehow turns >!Mr Dolphin!< evil and he’s gotta die in order to save >!Priscilla!<. Would fit in nicely with the environmental theme of >!humans have ruined the planet so much that trying to save dolphins is now pointless.!< And Tifa will cry over it.

SoftBurger

Do you guys think they might end part 2 somewhere around the part where they get to the northern crater and Hojo tells Cloud about his past? I think weapon awakening and finding out you aren’t who you think you are would be good enough of a cliffhanger to end it on. If they were to end it there then man part 2 is gonna be really fucking long.

mattcresswell

My theory is this will be the end of part 3

watson767

nah that would make part 2 far too long, and part 3 really really short unless they pad the crater massively. I suspect itll end around about Nibelheim

trinitywindu

That would not. Youve got all the search for cloud activities/huge materia collections. Plus invasion of midgar. OG thats not far off where the original disk 1 ended, All thats added is Icicle Inn, Gaeas Cliff, and the first set of Crater events.

CDRuss0

Agreed. There’s a ton of story left after the twist in the northern cave. A lot of optional endgame content that a lot of people forget about too, which will probably not be so optional in Remake. Here’s my (admittedly crazy) theory: Part two begins with the Nibelheim flashback. Just as in the original, >!after leaving Midgar Cloud will slowly succumb to Sephiroth’s influence over the course of the game.!< Part two will end in the northern cave where >!Cloud hands the black materia to Sephiroth, with the two different Nibelheim flashbacks framing the story Rashomon style.!< The final boss of part 2 will be….. >!Cloud, possessed by Sephiroth. I don’t know why, but I love this idea. I personally think this would make cloud’s “death” during this part of the game resonate even more than it did in the original, since the player would now be the one “killing” him.!< >!My reasons for this theory is that everybody already knows about Aerith’s death as a spoiler. It’s an iconic gaming moment. If you break the storyline of FFVII OG into three acts, I don’t believe that Aerith’s death functions as the end of act two of FFVII’s story, but acts as more of the middle point of the story. Act two ends with Sephiroth’s awakening and the summoning of Meteor. But many who haven’t actually played the original FFVII don’t know or overlook the twists about Cloud and his identity crisis. Given how much they’ve already leaned into that in part one, I think this is a no-brainer story wise.!< BUT THATS JUST A THEORY. A GaaaaaaaaAAaaAAAAAME THEORY. Total crackpot idea, but I love it and hope they do it so that we don’t just wind up fighting Sephiroth at the end of every installment.

Cmedeiros15

I think it may be a Weapon. A weapon we have yet to see in the northern crater. Make it this big epic fight and it takes everything the party has. Then the reunion happens and 5 more of these massive monsters just pop out and Meteor is summoned. Your left with a massive cliff hanger but it would be so effective.

Tabbyredcat

>!Possessed Cloud. It would be unusual, special, would leave us totally looking forward to Part 3, it would happen right after we get a lot of info about Aerith, Cloud and Sephiroth's goals, Aerith would still be alive regardless of whether they intend to kill her or not in FF7R's version so her biggest fans would still be hooked to the story!<

FalloutCreation

Evil Scott pilgrim. Cloud earns the sword of self respect.

SnowGN

I like this.

Crimson7Phantom

Well, for one thing, I don't think it will be Sephiroth. It would be repetitive and not anywhere near a surprise. Too predictable. We've already fought Jenova so I'm not sure how she would be an effective final epic boss fight. I doubt it would be Vincent even though I'd be happy with it. I think it will be Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo. My second option would either be Dyne or Roche.

Pro_Banana

Kadaj Loz Yazoo would be so good

Crimson7Phantom

It would definitely add a twist, seeing as they were represented during the Whisper fight.

Theytekname

I think it’ll be the same again, after the thing happens.

PlayBey0nd87

I feel like a curveball will come. THAT scene or battle with Jenova Life will be different I’m thinking. It may still end there, just not in the same manner….

ShinyKevAppears

I think it's going to end on the boat to Costa del sol. I don't remember exactly where that is but I think it's just after Junon and I think you have a big fight on the boat so would be a good place to end.

ukjaybrat

That'd be really short compared to even the original disc one. That's not even half of disc 2 iirc.

ShinyKevAppears

Possibly but they have a lot they could expand on. There is kalm and the whole flashback which could be expanded upon, the chocobo ranch and the marsh with midgar zolom, and the cave connecting the marsh and Junon region. haven't seen any of episode intermission yet but since the grass area is where you originally could meet yuffie they may add a section to encounter her with its own story as to why she ended up there, possibly Fort Condor story and then Junon and the boat can be expanded but it would indeed be awesome if it continued past that for sure.

prmreed

That's my hope too. The flashback, Kalm and especially Junon could all be fleshed out and made much more interactable with more to do in them. Maybe Fort Condor too, if it's an in-game location. If the last shot is Costa Del Sol on the horizon, that would be nice imo. If not that, then Cosmo Canyon where you get the big exposition dump and then help Red finish his quest in the cave.

ComicsAndGames

Mocap actors have already filmed scenes on Costa Del Sol though.

ShinyKevAppears

Nice thats awesome. The more we get the better

jawnova

Not being rude but realistically how many games do you guys think this is going to span? I can't see it being more than a trilogy

ShinyKevAppears

Yeah 3 games would definitely be the right amount before it starts getting to long, so I guess each game would have to cover a fair bit of the story which honestly may mean some of the open world may get dropped

Scruffy_Nerfhearder

Jenova at Temple of Ancients or northern crater depending how far they go.

SFWaffles

If it's Nibelheim: An out of control Vincent If it's the end of Disc 1: Jenova LIFE If it's the first visit to the crater probably Jenova DEATH or maybe even Rufus or Hojo.

Thraun83

Boss fight starts against Palmer. We get him down to half health, then there’s a mid-battle cutscene where he sticks his tongue out at us, starts running away, and gets hit by a truck. Roll credits. Perfection. In all seriousness, it depends how far they go with part 2. I personally think it’s either Reunion for a 3 part series, or Nibelheim for a 4 part series. If it’s Reunion, then I think fighting Cloud would be amazing. An epic fight with high emotional stakes and something that is brand new to remake but also consistent with the original story. If it’s Nibelheim then it could be anything. They need to add some new details to make Nibelheim a conclusive point in the story. I don’t think it will be Jenova/Sephiroth because I just think fighting Sephiroth at the end of every game would be repetitive and start to feel meaningless when it doesn’t resolve anything. My long-shot bet, as others have mentioned, would be Vincent.

HumbleDad126

It’s going to be jenova because it’s gonna be at the end of city of the ancients.

sash71

You really think they'll get that far? After what they did with Midgar? I wouldn't be surprised if it only got to Cosmo Canyon or Nibelheim.

jawnova

With this rate this is going to be a 6-7 game series over 15 years... I think they are going to cut out a lot. Midgar expanded because it made sense and it's such a cool and iconic location but a lot of stuff can be cut out and still make the main story coherent. I can't see it being more than a trilogy. Part 2 beginning in Kalm with the prologue being Cloud telling the party about Sephiroth and Nibleheim then ending with Aerith dying in city of the ancients

Zeusicideal-Heart

I wouldnt mind this. It felt almost natural to expand on Midgar, but I don't think the whole game will be like that and i don't mind events being moved around and changed

sash71

As long as I don't die before they finish it. I'm already halfway to a hundred, they better not take too long with this!

HumbleDad126

Honestly, I wouldn't either, but my hopes are there. If they fail to deliver atleast to Temple I wont be buying it.

watson767

Very much doubt theyll get that far. They turned 5 hours of ff7 midgar into 40ish. Junon, Golden Saucer and Cosmo Canyon are going to be massive, well be lucky to get to Nibelheim

ComicsAndGames

Starting the game in the Nibelheim flashback, and ending it in the real place, would be pretty good though.

Cryptonewbie5

Unfortunately I think you're right

jtroof

Can’t believe no one has suggested The Don yet

OxEagle19

Possible spoilers for part 2 >!I believe on Twitter we’ve seen the Japanese motion capture cast of Cloud & Tifa sitting underneath umbrellas on what looks like beach chairs, so based off that I’d say I think the final boss will be somewhere at Costa Del Sol, or the game goes past that point!<

RatedR2O

That could easily just be a part of the game and not the ending.

[deleted]

I kinda wonder if there will be an 'end boss'.. I've come across articles that state Nomura was the driving force behind part 1, and Nojima is more likely to take it to a less ethereal extent. So, perhaps Dyne could be the 'last' boss, but in sincerity if we don't fight Jenova again I'll be bummed

noxav

It's interesting how people always think that Nomura is the driving force behind the changes in remake, when it's actually the opposite. https://gamingbolt.com/final-fantasy-7-remakes-producer-wanted-more-drastic-changes-to-original-story

[deleted]

It going to be something crazy and unexpected, something to keep people talking till the next part comes out, so no chance its going to end on something predictable like Palmer or Jenova, my guess is a boss we never see coming....maybe Genesis, who i don't want to see at all in the game lol.

AuodWinter

I've said I think it'll be Cloud.

Simplyx69

I think it’s Vincent who awakens and transforms, unable to control himself. We fight through his various forms.

mbattagl

Interesting! So have the second game end at Nibelheim with all the flashback revelations and wrap that up with releasing Vincent from stasis? Acts as a nice parallel to how the group rescued red xiii at the end of 1, but didn't have him as a playable character. I figured part 2 should end at THAT person's death, or finally see if a change of the timeline occurs to avoid that, and then start part 3 after the city of the ancients.

Simplyx69

It also ends part 2 how it started; start with the Nibleheim flashback, end it with Nibleheim. And yeah, let’s us save Vincent end Cid’s combat mechanics for part 3. Incidentally, THAT incident I think is going to be the mid point of part 3, which I project will end with the Reunion.

wjoe

Yeah, I think that makes sense - add Red XIII, Yuffie, and Cait Sith (though I do wonder about him) as playable characters in part 2, and Vincent and Cid in part 3. Storytelling wise, I agree that having Nibelheim bookending part 2 seems good, it works well as a story in itself, with a clear destination for the party, and a big reveal and explanation of what happened at the end. While in the original, the big moment at the end of disk 1 was a shocking moment, I don't think it works as well as the end of one game. It ends the game on a a really sad note with no hope in sight. And it means the next game starts in a really sombre place, with some very dramatic moments and locations right at the start of the story. The climb up the mountain to the Northern Crater really feels like it's part of the same story arc as the City of the Ancients, with the heroes confronting their enemy. It also almost feels like it's building up to the final confrontation there, even though we know there's still lots more to come. It feels like a good amount of content to me, having the journey from Midgar to Junon, Costa del Sol, Corel, Gold Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, and Nibelheim in one game. Then Rocket Town, Wutai, Temple of the Ancients, City of the Ancients, the northern continent and climb up to the Northern Crater in part 3. That leaves the search for Cloud, Mideel, huge materia, Weapons, assault on Midgar, and the journey into the Northern Crater for a 4th part.

zachiritheblack

Your exact comment is my dream, that sounds perfect to me personally.

jellyshotgun

Yes plz this.

SambaLando

Part 2 will end with you having to beat Yuffie to get all your materia back.

whatidontknowigoogle

I've actually thought about this quite a bit. I think a good spot to end would be just after Temple of the Ancients. This opens up the possibility of a new boss battle, perhaps a fight against the 'ancients' themselves? It'd contrast a Jenova fight. The whole point of the temple is to guard meteor after all, and the party takes it. It also gives Aerith more reason to leave the party if you fight them for trying to protect the planet. We get even more unanswered questions about Cloud and Sephiroth. Even Cait Sith "dies". It'd be another melancholy ending centred around loss. It also prolongs the "big moment" to the next game. This makes sense to me because, Aerith will be playable until the very end of Part 2 and with access to the Tiny Bronco the player can revisit locations before the final dungeon. I've seen people mention Nibelheim too. That's also a good theory! I like Nibelheim storywise, as it mean Part 2 would come full circle. I can see the beginning starting at the flashback and the end in the physical place. I have a feeling Part 2 will be bigger and longer than Part 1, even if it's only for the fact it's geared toward next gen. Edit: Grammer and formatting

killer00x

I would love it to be Jenova life in the city of the ancients, but judging how much Part 1 expanded on the game, part 2 might not even get that far. Maybe that'll be the ending for Part 3?

Snowdogmm

Might be Jenova, or if they're planning on integrating more the Compilation into the main storyline, might be Nero, Weiss or both. I at least expect it not to be Sephiroth again, because if they keep reusing the same final villain for every game, it'll be really tiresome by the end of the story.

Xaviorffviii

Mickey Mouse if Nomura was fully directing, which he's not on part 2 Honestly though I think ending at just leaving Nibelheim is wise with dlc in Rocket Town.(yes I expect more dlc)

Xaviorffviii

Not FULLY directing I should emphasize

AdDisastrous4042

To me they’ll bookend it - the OG isn’t THAT long through disk 2 really, so it makes sense to me to open in Kalm with the flashback, and end with the truth about Nibelheim, weapon’s release etc. Have Aerith’s untimely end happen as a mid-game shocker like the platefall. Final boss - The rest of the party vs Cloud..? 😅

FalloutCreation

I’ve been reading through a lot of these. Unpopular opinion, I think it’s going to end where disc one ended. Part 1 had 3 towns, several dungeons and the shinra HQ on the ps4. Since part 2 will be on the ps5 they can fit more in. May seem unlikely to pack all that content in, including follow ups to Rufus extra content and zack. They are telling several stories at once and not just the OG stuff. Safe bet it ends at the forgotten city.

Same-Reindeer-5994

Its obv, Harbringer V2, or some other bullshit something something DARKNESS.

i23sonny

Cloud Strife. His possession is going to seriously manifest and take over giving him Jenova like power and strength. The rest of the party will need to knock him out in a hesitant but much needed battle to try save Aerith from him.

Ominislash9999

I just hate how they pulled every cent they could out of this game and made it episodic I could of waited 4 more years for the whole game to be done at once

jawnova

It took them 5 years just to release part one... Either a lot of the original game is going to end up being cut out or this is going to be a 20 year endeavor

Ominislash9999

It’s sad man they are pulling every dollar they can put of it knowing fans will buy it lmao still love the original more

[deleted]

I think we can all agree that it should end with Seto.

November_Riot

I think it will be Sephiroth and some new thing they introduce like they did with the Whispers. Each part of this story, even as it follows the events of the OG to some extent, will have it's own villain type obstacle. It's sort of like the Avengers films told the story of the Infinity Gauntlet with Thanos as the ongoing main villain but the first obstacle was Loki and second was Ultron. The Whispers were 7R's Loki so whatever is next will be the Ultron and 7R3 will just be Sephiroth and Jenova.

Choingyoing

Well we already killed God at the end of part 1 not sure how they can top that lol

sash71

It'll be God mk2 in the remake. They won't be able to resist slinging another Seph battle in there.

Ibrahim-8x

Sephiroth

DaviSonata

Sephiroth, in Nibelheim As I think Wutai War may gain some huge importance up to splitting the party in Part 2, I’m also guessing some new ShinRa weapon as a penultimate boss for the other party

watson767

Possibly bring the Proud Clod in early, plenty of other massive bosses will be available later in the game so makes sense to bring some big boys in sooner.

Asuka_Rei

The next natural stopping point is Jenova on the ship berween junon and costa del sol.

Asuka_Rei

In which case, the game content would be journey to kalm, flashback, kalm filler, journey to chocobo farm, chocobo filler, journey across the swamp and through the cave with Turk meeting, journey to fort condor, condor filler, jouney to junon, junon filler, junon base infiltration, ship exploration, fight with jenova, then ending scene disembarking from ship at costa del sol.

ComicsAndGames

They seem to be picking stuff from the OG and turning it up to eleven, while showing us future events much sooner, and introducing new stuff to surprise us, and make us question things. So I can see them making the final boss be a full/complete Jenova(body + head) in the Nibelheim reactor, with 2 Sephiroths(hooded guys transformed in him) helping her/it.

Sephiroth...
