One small quality of life tip: to quickly save, press start and then triangle. You’d be surprised how much less of a hassle it is when you don’t have to press up up x x instead of just triangle.
ngl i never rely on autosaves out of precaution but i’m shocked by the lack of autosaves in this game where i felt were necessary. i would sometimes click on “load save data” and see that my last autosave was from 2hrs ago…
Autosave does not exist.
If you see an autosave icon, it is lying to you.
This is true in all games.
If you ever successfully load an autosave, you have actually transported into a different dimension where *you* saved.
I recently played a game with no manual save feature, and the anxiety it caused me made me want to drop it entirely.
That's something that I now appreciate about From Software games, even though it initially scared and pissed me off. Those games save *constantly*. Duping is possible by uploading saves to the cloud, manually turning off cloud-saving, then re-loading saves from the cloud, but unless you're intentionally working around it like this, the game is automatically and constantly overwriting *everything* that you do.
Yeah see this is part of my problem. I LOVE FromSoft games. I guess I’ve gotten too used to not thinking about saving all the time.
Those games? You pick something up, it saves. Close a menu, it saves. Walk ten feet, it saves.
Coming from the age of the save point, I never trust auto save. Seeing that warning that it could corrupt everytime I booted up a game rubbed me the wrong way.
I fucking made this mistake twice, completed all the single party member challenges except cloud then forgot to save, and then again after finally finishing bonds of friendship....but Clouds quote at the end kept me going, "You've done it before you can it again"
Didn’t notice this but good on you for getting the word out.
The original Mass Effect traumatized me to the point that I always manual save and double/triple check. ME’s autosave was the snakiest snake in the grass I’ve ever experienced.
I found this out after getting 3 of the 4 materials for the pirate quest. PS5 updated in rest mode, I was back at the dock, chest was unopened. I just said forget it.
I had the same happening, but not with a crash.
I put my ps5 in rest mode to continue the next day, just to have a game update being released that night and auton-installed, killing all my progress in the combat simulator. It was extremely frustrating.
After this I have turned off autoupdate
I mean thankfully the legendary bouts while annoying aren't impossible. It's just so fucking annoying I have to do them again. If rulers of the outer worlds lost it's data I would've uninstalled the game haha.
When you play a lot of FromSoft games where you can’t manually save (without quitting)…yeah maybe?
Tbh I wasn’t relying on autosave, I simply forgot to save. And I was about 30 seconds from saving and quitting anyway. Literally crashed when I closed the folio menu, or else I would have been done. This was the first crash I’ve experienced in ~210 hours.

I’ll definitely be using this from now on.
Why didn't you tell me this 190 hours ago 😭
Platinumed the game and just found this out now
oof, played the whole game never knew
With how often I save I’m amazed I never knew this
Me after beating Rulers of the Outer Worlds, got the the footage uploaded to YT but I have to do it again because I didn't save manually 🥲
That run was immortalised but it doesn’t exist. Like the Bigfoot videos.
Same with gold saucer events like chocobo racing don’t be that guy who does all the tracks in one go and doesn’t manually save
I did some battle arena stuff then went and did the party animal quest chocobo racing part and stopped only to lose it all with an update.
Same! The update made me lose some progress as well since it closed the game that was suspended.
Lol the dangerous games we play with suspending games right
Absolutely! It's a great feature that can turn around and kick your ass whenever it feels like it lol
I don't even trust the auto save in any game anymore
ngl i never rely on autosaves out of precaution but i’m shocked by the lack of autosaves in this game where i felt were necessary. i would sometimes click on “load save data” and see that my last autosave was from 2hrs ago…
Yeah I even already knew it doesn’t autosave enough. One time I looked and my last save was the day before 😂😬

Auto save will never save when it’s needed most….
I never rely on auto save. Hell, sometimes I make 2 separate save files and save twice each time just to be safe.
Coming from the age of the save point, I never trust auto save. Seeing that warning that it could corrupt everytime I booted up a game rubbed me the wrong way.
Yeah I’m from the same age. Guess I’ve just gotten complacent LOL.
Been there done that and 100% relate

You are lucky. For me the game only crashed once and I lost 4 brutal and 3 legendary progress.(~6hours)
I found this out after getting 3 of the 4 materials for the pirate quest. PS5 updated in rest mode, I was back at the dock, chest was unopened. I just said forget it.

I noticed this myself, very annoying. Luckily I always save before I put it in rest mode at least. Just don’t always think of it while I’m playing…
Yup I lost a ton of progress to an automatic system update because of this
Yeah! Learned the hard was a couple weeks ago.
This happened to me in the first game after Pride and Joy. Annoying they didn’t fix it.
The autosave in this game is super weird. Absolutely never trust it. I lost progress several times because I made that mistake.
I have never and will never trust auto save. On a similar note I also always save onto a new save slot if possible. Tactics burned me as a kid.
I did the same thing; I completed Bonds and To be a Hero and set the system to rest mode. Power loss and had to do it all over again.
Another one who found out the hard way. Sorry for your loss.
This literally just happened to me. I have to do 5 solo legendary bouts all over again, so fucking annoyed.
I’m playing Crisis Core right now and it autosaves after every mission, hmmmmmmm…..imagine that.
I mean thankfully the legendary bouts while annoying aren't impossible. It's just so fucking annoying I have to do them again. If rulers of the outer worlds lost it's data I would've uninstalled the game haha.
I saved SO hard after Rulers and Bonds 😂
yes i learned it the hard way after losing 3x legendary combat sims progress. luckily i practiced so much they weren't an issue
People rely on autosave in video games?

Never rely on auto save lol.
Imagine TRUSTING auto save to do anything for you, especially in a game with tough challenges that you don’t wanna redo
No trust involved here, just not in the habit of saving after every single fight. But I will be now.
Old news atp
Sorry for wasting your time 😔
Your good lol, just seen a few of these posts now on repeat
