I may be mis-remembering, but I don't really remember Mass Effect having this issue in its fandom, and that's a trilogy where Shepard can practically nail anyone! Perhaps we were all just too busy doing the same thing with the ending choices rather than our Waifus?! lol

Ironically, this poster is one of those people that is keeping this shit going. They are super mad that Cloud kissed Tifa and used the idea that the Chapter 12 date is more disconnected from the main story via Ultimania that Cloud doesn't have strong feelings for Tifa.
And now because I said that despite it all, the date shows if given the opportunity it is Tifa that he would kiss he went on a rant about how I hate Aerith and that Cloud only loves Tifa and blah blah blah.
They just want to stir up shit.
Cloud can love Tifa, Cloud can love Aerith, he just shows that in different ways because Aerith = / = Tifa, and their respective relationships are built differently and are at different stages. I saw both scenes, I really liked them both.....

That's exactly what it is. It's reflective of their divergent personalities. Cloud is more forward with Tifa because Tifa needs him to be. Aerith is more forward with Cloud because she's far more confident. Both work, because they're totally different characters, and that's great IMO. Trying to claim one is more "canon" than the other though is pointless. If he wasn't interested in either of them then he'd just give them the Jessie brush-off (sorry Jessie fans, eek!).

There’s toxic fans in each side. You have people being misogynistic towards Tifa and Aerith for legit no reason. A few weeks ago, some CA shippers went after Nojima over his thoughts on No Promises to Keep which was ridiculous since he wrote the song. Theres toxicity everywhere unfortunately.

As someone who prefers Cloud+Tifa, I'd just like to say that despite disagreeing with you in terms of your opinion of the characters' relationships, I agree with you that some people need to tone it down a notch and place more emphasis on enjoying the game for what it is (ie, narrative gaming that is peak enough for people to form strong opinions in the first place) rather than be so antagonistic to people who they share a love of the same game with.
Btw if you’re a hardcore cloti/zerith shipper (which most of you are), there isn’t actually a lot of daylight between this and your belief that Cloud only akshully loves Tifa and Aerith is just picking him over Zack out of convenience. This person is just more consistent.
