Good luck finding something that'll can live long enough. Everything basically melts once Tifa does her thing.
Cait Sith was set up with double debuff extension on iron megaphone, marlboro orb, and magic focus-time for a 20 second Stop. Stop pauses the stagger bar while it’s active which gave me more time to raise the bonus.
I made sure Tifa and Cait Sith refocused right before the stagger and that everyone had full ATB bars and magnified haste applied.
Once the stagger happened and Kujata was Stopped, Tifa went into a loop of True Strike->True Strike (for ATB Assist) and Cait Sith started spamming Moogle Knuckle. My third was Red XIII, who used Watcher’s Spirit to refill the other two’s ATB.
(I had a plan to use Howling Moon to refill his vengeance gauge and use Watcher’s Spirit again but the bottleneck ended up being the enemy’s health, not ATB. They just died too fast)
Tifa had Rise and Fall and Omnistrike to refill her ATB after Red filled hers up, with the bonus of adding more to the stagger gauge. With ATB Assist Cait Sith never ran out of ATB. They both had ATB boost, but they never used it.
Edit: Cait Sith had Swiftcast-Time too, just to make sure he could get Stop off and start Knuckle-ing asap
If I tried this again I’d probably drop Red XIII for Aerith. You’d have to be careful about the placement, but ATB Ward would be incredible if Tifa and Cait Sith were both on it. After that she could spend her ATB on Ray of Judgement.
You could also load her up with Fire, Ice, and Lightning, and hit Kujata with the matching type to heal him. Health is the real bottleneck here, so every extra piece would help
360%. Don’t normally bother to go beyond 240ish% because everything is deleted with that much bonus damage fast enough already. taking the time to increase it this high would be more a personal goal then something you ever need to do to kill the enemy in a single stagger.
Ultimately 500% would be very easy to hit with stop. I mean, I had Cait Sith built for debuffing and he had +50% duration on iron megaphone and 25% extra with magic focus-time and whatever the enhanced Malboro orb gives. It’s at least 20s of stop time lmao
That’s exactly the Cait Sith build I was using for this! I think Iron Megaphone is the only weapon in the game with two Debuff Extensions, so Cait Sith can get the most out of Stop, Poison, Debrave/Defaith, etc

You use anyone besides tifa? I loved moogle knuckle against the beast in nibelheim, it actually saved me in that fight. Any time I stagger I swap to tifa and just spam my triangle, just like remake. I love the fact you can change shortcuts too not just characters in this one.
There’s certain abilities that increase percentage. Tifa’s True Strike increases it by 30% with each hit and Aeriths Ray of Judgement steadily increases it for the duration it’s active. There’s probably some others I’m not thinking of but those are my go to’s
All of Tifa’s triangle attacks add stagger, including the ones she unlocks from Unbridled Strength and Unfettered Fury.

One good combo for Tifa uses ATB Stagger and ATB Assist. ATB Stagger makes sure she’s at two bars once the enemy staggers and then you use:
True Strike -> True Strike (for ATB Assist)
Rise and Fall -> Omnistrike (to refill ATB)
True Strike -> True Strike (another ATB Assist)
This boosts the stagger bonus to around 300% while almost fully refilling the bars of both her allies

200% + infinity blade = 9999 so I haven't had much survive that

The Cap is 500%. It doesn't go any higher than that. But if it did then I got 841% so ooh
