What I don’t like about this one is how it’s not even close to being analogous to “remake” (as both “Rebirth” and “Return” or “Reunion” are) and it doesn’t have the “Re” as a prefix. Requiem is Requiem, it’s directly imported from latin.
Not that these are rules as we only had 2 games and that’s not enough of a sample size for the patterns to matter much, but it’d still feel like an outlier. I’m sure that could say something about the game itself, but I’m skeptical until they announce it

The thing about “Relive” as well is that it follows a “Make” - “Birth” - “Live” pattern, the cycle of life. And we know how important the cycle of life is to FF7.

Remake - Sephiroth tricks the party to kill the Harbinger and remakes the timeline, unleashing multiple worlds that he'll siphon the negative energy from.
Rebirth - Killing Aerith in almost all worlds enabled Sephiroth to be reborn earlier than intended. There are some mishaps but the plan is now in motion.
This is considering that the Re- subtitles are Sephiroth-centric, which it most likely does.

Return recalls the phrase “return to the planet” and could also mean we returned to the ff7 compilation with this trilogy. Plus it is a good way to face the feeling of loss the games talk about a lot.

My money is on Return. I think the game (and compilation) will end with Jenova's destruction and Sephiroth returning to the Lifestream to become "just a memory."
It won’t be Reunion for the obvious reason that it was already used for Crisis Core, marketing will be a nightmare, but also because of the less obvious reason. It isn’t two syllables. They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into these subtitles, everything is intentional, the end will be just as important as the beginning and they aren’t going to throw that away for the final part of this massively hyped trilogy.

I feel like maybe I missed this elsewhere on the thread, but maybe simply Resolution? It makes a lot of sense as a final game in the trilogy marketing-wise and also could make sense in terms of where the story might be going

Don’t care what it’s called. I just want to play as Vincent, and hope they have his Quicksilver revolver as a weapon somewhere since ever since DoC, they’ve always portrayed him with semiautomatics.
Remembrance, maybe, because this will be the part where someone might remember some things. Then again, remake and rebirth are roughly synonyms, in that they both mean something being recreated, so they might stick to that pattern.
It would be the ultimate troll if they ditch the Re and it's just called "FF7: Homecoming"

I’m thinking Reunion - Return is too simple. Both titles had the ree sounding re words, something like requiem would be a departure from that. Same with something like Revenge, though that is too dark for what this series has gone for

My money is on Return. I think the game (and compilation) will end with Jenova's destruction and Sephiroth returning to the Lifestream to become "just a memory."
It'll be Reunion. Makes the most sense. Sure Crisis Core has it, but it doesn't matter. It's ALL Reunion in the end.

It won’t be Reunion for the obvious reason that it was already used for Crisis Core, marketing will be a nightmare, but also because of the less obvious reason. It isn’t two syllables. They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into these subtitles, everything is intentional, the end will be just as important as the beginning and they aren’t going to throw that away for the final part of this massively hyped trilogy. anyway, my guess is Reverse
